“I don't know what has gotten into me,” she told me, “I feel really off. I've been having all these fearful thoughts lately— I kept thinking this bad thing was going to happen– is this my intuition speaking to me?” “Where are you at in your cycle?” I responded, though I felt like I knew the response already. “I just started bleeding.” I've been having some rendition of this dialogue FOR YEARS with my students. So today we are going to talk about what hormones have to do with intuition. Our guest today is someone we've been wanting to interview for a while. She has inspired 1000s of people to find their way of doing less inside a culture that so often pushes us to do more. Kate Northrup is an entrepreneur, mother and bestselling author of Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time Management for Ambitious Women. Her book centers menstrual cycle awareness as a secret productivity superpower that's always been there, but you just didn't know you had...After giving birth to her first child, Kate felt profoundly out of control for the first time in her life. Her period came back when she was 13 months old and she felt safe for the first time since her birth. It held her through post-partum anxiety and insomnia and her menstrual cycle served her as a life-raft that healed her in a profound way. In our conversation we explore:Kate's Summer sabbatical, how she worked with the voices of doubt and the amazing fruits that it yielded (including her best year ever in business). The real necessity of lowering our standards (here's to piles of laundry and dry shampoo) and asking for help (usually people feel honoured when we do) so that we can get the rest we need. How to get rest as a working mama, and source our enoughness from a deep well within us. Kate asks: “what if you didn't need to do or earn another damn thing, in order to be the shit?!”Registration is now open 2023 Menstruality Leadership Programme - you can apply here: www.menstrualityleadership.com---The Menstruality Podcast is hosted by Red School. What brings you joy? What makes you feel energized? What makes you, you? Loving yourself starts with understanding yourself and learning to accept yourself for who you are, rather than fixating on who you think you “should” be. Self-love is one of the most powerful things that we, as human beings, can do to enhance our lives. Today's guest is Kate Northrup; entrepreneur, bestselling author, speaker, and mother who has built a multimedia digital empire with her husband which supports hundreds of thousands of ambitious women to light up the world without burning out! When it comes to work, less is more! According to research, working 49 hours+ per week is linked to a decline in mental health. This negatively impacts productivity because happier people are more productive. During this episode, Kate explains the personal experiences that led her to discover how to do less to live better. Nobody is lying on their deathbed wishing they had more money; give yourself permission to be happier! Key Points From This Episode: Kate shares the personal experiences that motivated her to do less. [04:32] Self-sourced scheduling; a brief overview of the system that Kate created. In reading a great deal about leadership today, and interviewing top leadership experts, I'm recognizing a disappointing trend - that the general concept and understanding of leadership has become so vague and watered down that most of it isn't helpful at all, and it's not suited to a majority of women who want to lead differently. The Most Powerful You training goes deeper. It helps you recognize and understand more about yourself as a person and the leader you want to be, then take empowering, transformative actions to operate in your role in a way that takes your leadership and your career higher, making the impact you dream to. As an entrepreneur, bestselling author, and mother, Kate Northrup teaches a revolutionary approach to time management that allow ambitious women to light up the world without burning themselves out. Top 3 Value Bombs: 1. Cultural programming has us believing that the longer we keep our butt in a chair, in front of the computer, the more we will get done — it's not true. There's a diminishing rate of return: the more hours you spend, you begin to cut away at your ability to focus. 2. We get obsessed with taking action because that's what is celebrated in the entrepreneurial and business world, but we don't pause to assess if things are working. 3. Saying yes to too many things will take you down, and your ability to decide which opportunities actually make sense for you is massively decreased. The focus of today's episode is on ways of improving your performance in your business. And we're going to do that by tapping into the power of CYCLES. More specifically, I'm going to be sharing about how I'm working to sync my business with a 28-day work cycle. During this episode, some of the things I talk about include: Why cycles are an important piece of the puzzle when looking at performanceThe four distinct phases that women cycle through each monthBeing uncomfortable with tracking menstruationMy experience with a wellness program for female CEOs that focuses on optimizing performance and brain health The strengths and business opportunities that come with each phase of our cycleConcrete examples of things I'm doing in my business during each phaseAnd more! A Weekly Planning session gives you a broader perspective of what you need to get done. It also gives you more flexibility to get the right things done. It's often more essential than a daily to-do list or a daily action plan.In this episode, you'll learn about why weekly planning works, and how it creates more clarity, control, focus and flow:1. Clarity: Weekly planning reduces overwhelm and makes space for your best work with greater ease. It gives you more direction in how you will move forward on your high-level projects, while taking care of routine tasks and obligations to others. The Five Projects Rule The four blocks to plan your days in each week: focus blocks, social blocks, admin blocks and recovery blocks 2. Control: Weekly planning reduces stress and feelings of defeat because it puts you in control of the next 7 days. It not only gives you more flexibility, but also allows you to be more spontaneous. You have a whole week, not just a day to accomplish key tasks. The Eisenhower Matrix or Priority Matrix: important and urgent; important and not urgent; urgent and not important; not important and not urgent Do, defer (schedule), delegate, drop 3. Focus: Weekly planning gives you more freedom to focus. It makes daily planning easier because you can add, delete, and check tasks off as you move through the week. It puts you in proactive mode instead of just react to what comes up in the day or what's coming up the next day. Triage your calendar and task list Use weekly to-do list instead of a daily one 4. Flow: Weekly planning produces more flow, which is the optimal experience in which you're so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter. It's a key ingredient of a meaningful and happy life. Synch with your natural rhythm Align with context and circumstances Consider the concept of state-dependent recall Resources cited: Kate Northrup, Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Ambitious Women Charlie Gilkey, Start Finishing: How to Go From Idea to Done Music by:Sebastian Brian MehrCheers,Dyan WilliamsCheck out the book: The Incrementalist, A Simple Productivity System to Create Big Results in Small StepsVisit website: www.dyanwilliams.comSubscribe to productivity e-newsletter
What do you want to have done in the week? What are the big things you can do to call the week a success and make it great? Unexpected things will come up. Tasks will take longer than you expected. Distractions and interruptions will pull you away. But you're more likely to accomplish what you must when you plan for it and begin with the end in mind. In this episode, I discuss achieving more by doing less in a week. You will learn: 1. How to consolidate by planning your Ideal Week The concepts of batching and theming The categories of front stage, back stage, and off stage activities The use of color codes in your weekly plan or calendar to reflect focus areas 2. How to designate by prioritizing your tasks with the Weekly Review and Preview The best times to do a weekly review and preview The six steps in a weekly planning session: list your biggest wins; review the prior week; review your lists and notes; check goals, projects, events, meetings and deadlines; designate your Weekly Big 3 things to accomplish; and plan for self-care 3. How to streamline your to-do list The four areas to help you design your week and your weekly to-dos: body; mind; heart; and the cosmos. Episode 017 is your intro to the Divine Feminine. This episode is about learning how to tap into the part of us that is playful, sensual, creative, soulful, deeply connected, fierce, and energized. As we've discussed on the show, both men and women have masculine and feminine energies in us. In this episode, we talk about what happened to the divine feminine; where did it go? Why is it so uncomfortable to talk about? How do we get it back? For some resources on the divine feminine and the history of its erasure, check out these books: Patriarchy Stress Disorder: The Invisible Inner Barrier to Women's Happiness and Fulfillment by Valerie Rein PhD; Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype by Clarissa Pinkola Estés; Mary Magdalene Revealed: The First Apostle, Her Feminist Gospel & the Christianity We Haven't Tried Yet by Meggan Watterson; The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk M.D; Rise Sister Rise: A Guide to Unleashing the Wise, Wild Woman Within by Rebecca Campbell; Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Ambitious Women, by Kate Northrup. You’ve likely heard a ton about membership websites over recent years as they’re becoming a really popular way for consumers to learn new skills, be a part of a like-minded community, and get results that take them from where they currently are to where they want to go. For entrepreneurs, having a membership site is an incredible business model because it creates recurring revenue for your business–in turn resulting in a sustainable business that gets rid of feast or famine and all the stress that comes with financial instability and not knowing how you’re going to generate income in the coming months. Today on Limitless Life™, I sat down with the amazing Kate Northrup to talk about how doing less actually produces better work. Kate is an entrepreneur, best-selling author, and mom, and recently wrote a book called "Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Ambitious Women". This episode we get deep into talking about women's menstrual cycles, and how they can help dictate when you should be doing certain tasks in your business. We also talk about how to feel like you're not being enough when doing less. This is something that I can deeply relate to. Ever since I was 15, I was one of the biggest "doers" you've ever met. An emotion I didn't want to feel? I started a club at school. A fear of being unworthy? I started a company. Sound familiar? Of course, none of this was conscious. I convinced myself that this was just who I was -- a high achiever. A leader. It took over a decade to finally realize that I was using achievement to mask the fear that always simmered just below the surface "maybe all this doing is just covering up my fear of truly being". In this episode, Kate will help you bust through the fears of what happens when you truly rest, and how to reframe previous views on busyness and productivity. I am so excited to hear your takeaways from Kate!
The world is shifting, and I am evolving along with it.Welcome to the very first episode of Season 7 and of The Going Beyond Podcast! While this is still a place for self-care and self-love, The Going Beyond Podcast goes a step further, bringing you open-minded conversation, non-judgmental support and resources that will take your work, relationships, and sense of self to the next level. I’ve learned that what the world needs now is deeply personal work from each and every one of us, myself included. If we can’t sync up with our vulnerabilities and authenticity, and connect with others doing the same, how can we expect the world to change? This is all part of the launch of a much larger movement, The Going Beyond Movement, a movement that helps you to do the necessary individual work, all while connecting that work with the world that needs your efforts. To celebrate the launch of The Going Beyond Movement and The Going Beyond Podcast, we’re kicking off Season 7 by asking a few of our favorite people what “Going Beyond” means to them. Each of our guests will answer these questions:● What are the ways in which you’re Going Beyond in your own life?● How are you moving past titles, norms, and expectations to expand your purpose?● What are your daily practices of Going Beyond perceived definitions of yourself?● And more…Our Guests Include: ● Patricia Moreno: Founder of the intenSati Method, a workout for the heart, body, mind and spirit, and pioneer of Spiritual Fitness.● Kate Northrup: Entrepreneur and best-selling author of Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Ambitious Women, The Do Less Planner, and and the creator of Origin Collective.● Faith Hunter: International yoga and meditation instructor, wellness philanthropist, movement motivator, healing guide, music head, Spiritually Fly theorist, AND my dear friend and my first yoga instructor

As an entrepreneur, bestselling author, speaker, and mother, Kate Northrup has built a multimedia digital empire that reaches hundreds of thousands globally. She's committed to supporting ambitious women to light up the world without burning themselves out in the process. Kate teaches data-driven and soul-driven time and energy management practices that result in saving time, making more money, and experiencing less stress. This week I'm speaking with bestselling author and entrepreneur, Kate Northrup. Kate has reached hundreds of thousands of women through her work online, and through her bestselling books, ‘Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Busy Moms' and ‘Money, A Love Story: Untangle your Financial Woes and Create the Life you Really Want'. Kate's mission is to support ambitious women, particularly mothers, to light up the world without burning themselves out in the process. I really resonate with that - and it's definitely something I need to keep reminding myself of! In the episode, we speak about our experiences in lockdown and the role that many women have taken in the household during this time. We speak about Kate's experiences with her own mother, and how she saw her overworking. Kate also gives lots of practical tips and tools to help you manage your own time and energy. Are you ready to reclaim your time and energy back? If there's one thing I've learned so far during this pandemic, it's this… now, more than ever before, I'm finding it's time to give myself permission to do less. Slow down my pace. Create more breathing room and reclaim some much needed space in my daily schedule. Which reminded me of this incredibly poignant conversation I had with Kate Northrup awhile back. We spoke back in April 2019 but really, I think it's worth listening to once again now, applying a new frame of mind to it all, as we grapple with life and running a business through a pandemic. Kate is the author of Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Ambitious Women, which simplifies how you can begin to reclaim your time and energy in a brand new way. It's all about tapping into our inner feminine wisdom that runs on a 28-day cycle, instead of pushing, hustling, and grinding it out like men do… who's bodies and minds (instead) work on a 24-hour cycle. She believes we are fundamentally different and that's actually a good thing, helping you work towards doing less and having more. Here's how. My special guest today is Kate Northrup and she's simplifying how to reclaim your time + energy. We tackle all aspects of it, including: Why we as women (who own their own companies) tend to be addicted to busyness How to reclaim your time + energy by taking back control of your schedule and start to set effective boundaries in your work and home life What the four parts to a woman's menstrual cycle are and what type of work you should actually do each week in your cycle to be most effective …and ultimately, what the “Upward Cycle of Success” is and how it all comes down to four phases: emergence, visibility, culmination, and the fertile void… apply this framework when you're launching a new project out into the world, whether that's a new book, a new product/service, a pivot, or doing a big sales push. I'm finding that I'm currently in a season of ‘the fertile void' right now and gave myself a little bit of grace and permission to take the foot off the gas this month, so I could rest, reflect and recover. And so far, this gift has been an absolute blessing and much needed. Enjoy this past conversation I had with Kate and I hope it brings you new insight as you tackle your week ahead. Q: Are you looking to do less and reclaim your time + energy? If yes, this one is for you. It's time to #DoTheThing! In this episode of Living Life with Lynda, we discuss her latest creation, the Do Less Planner. This planner is a time management system that allows women to activate their innate superpowers. This first of its kind planner takes into account your biology, your goals, evidence-based productivity hacks, the cosmos, your heart, and your soul. Part 2: Weekly Words of Wisdom - Lynda shares how she once again got out of her comfort zone by getting her motorcycle license! Is there something you've been wanting to do, but fear has held you back? Today is a new day, so take a step towards that goal and move from fear to feeling accomplished!
What if the secret to living well is not to do more, but less, and allow the magic of the fertile void to magnetically draw beauty, joy, healing, and creativity into you life? After "making it" with her first book, Kate Northrup found herself feeling pressured to figure out what was next - to immediately do more, create the next thing - but her body, mind, and spirit told her to wait in the stillness. What emerged from her own fertile void was the brilliant offering to womxn of the world to "Do Less."Kate Northrup is an entrepreneur, bestselling author, speaker, and mother who has built a multimedia digital empire that reaches hundreds of thousands globally. Stamina is the ability to sustain prolonged physical or mental effort. We focus on physical stamina and increasingly realise that mental stamina is just as important to high performance and is the difference between surviving and really thriving (performance, creativity and certainly connections). As leaders and parents, it has become a much needed daily practice and without it we can make poor decisions, get stuck in the red zone, yell at the kids, beat ourselves up, loose perspective and feel so drained. The opposite of what many of us want. Some key messages: Managing your team's stamina is a hallmark of effective leadership even though it is not a KPI for most leaders Employees who strongly agree that they feel their manager's support are about 70% less likely to experience work burnout regularly Gallup found five factors that are most highly correlated with burnout: Unfair treatment at work Unmanageable workload Unclear role Lack of communication and manager support Unreasonable time pressure A major source of 'energy leaking' is our inner critic, our default patterns can be frequent and exhausting ("mental self mutilation") Nuero-performance is not about the land of incense and patchouli Practice, practice, practice! For this fabulous episode, I am thrilled to welcome Kate Northrup as my guest. In this incredible interview, we talk about the “shoulds” that we tend to put onto ourselves, how we tend to get stuck and add more responsibilities and tasks to our lists which prevents us from thriving and doesn’t allow us to create more time for the things that fill and enlighten us. As women, we are all mothering someone in our lives, including ourselves, so this episode is for all of us. Kate encourages women to ask themselves: what would your life look like if you had the time to do the things that really matter to you, those things that truly light you up? Kate is sharing the keys to creating a better relationship with your body, learning how to read the cues your body is giving you and to make the best decisions founded in what is that you need to do and not to do. Kate also talks about her brand new book Do Less: A revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Ambitious Women Here are the main topics of this outstanding conversation: ● Kate shares how she decided that doing less was the way to move forward. ● Kate talks about how she became interested in the moon’s phases and women’s cycles. ● Overworking can be a trauma response. ● Tools to work through the trauma and to learn how to just be present in our bodies. ● We are mammals, and we forget this. ● How can you fit more of you into your schedule? ● How to recognize “energy vampires” by creating healthy boundaries. ● Create space for what matters the most to finding yourself. ● How you do what you do matters more than what you are doing. ● Our well being depends on connection. ● Tools to align with yourself. As Kate marvellously states: You are already fabulous, you do not have to prove that to anyone! Wishing more simplicity and ease in all that you do! Since the New Year discussion about resolutions vs. intentions, we have been doing some reflection on all we have achieved and areas we would like to grow in 2020. Needless to say, a few themes are apparent as to where we would like to focus our practice and change in the new year. We share two on the podcast today. 1) Limiting Beliefs and 2) Boundaries. Self-care is important in all aspects of our lives: physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally. The thoughts around limiting beliefs and boundaries seem to affect all of them. In today’s modern world, everyone is in a rush to get all of the boxes checked off on their task list. What if we took the time to slow down, do less and really appreciate every single moment? That’s what I talked about today with Kate Northrup. Kate is an entrepreneur, author, speaker and podcast host who teaches the world to do more with less. We chat about taking care of yourself by leaning on others for support and letting go of micromanaging. She shares why you need to make self-care a part of your daily life rather than using it as a reward for achievement and the fulfillment that comes with getting in touch with your body, appreciating the fullness of your life and finding ways to slow down. What’s in this episode: Kate’s advice for overachievers and the art of doing less Teaching children by modeling and knowing that you’re enough even when you do less Doing things for yourself and creating a sense of wholeness within yourself Giving yourself more space and leaning on others for support Letting go of micromanagement and trusting in others How to clear out time to do what you love and prioritize yourself Setting boundaries for others to put yourself first Making self-care a part of your daily life instead of a reward Rituals that Kate incorporates into her day Judging your day on how you felt vs. what you did Getting in touch with your body and building rest into your schedule Appreciating the fullness of your life and finding ways to systematically slow down Kate’s struggles with postpartum anxiety Trusting in your feelings and intuition About Kate: As an entrepreneur, bestselling author, speaker, and mother, Kate Northrup has built a multimedia digital empire with her husband, Mike Watts, that reaches hundreds of thousands globally. In this episode of Bulletproof Radio, I’m taking with Kate Northrup. As an entrepreneur, best-selling author, speaker, activist and mother, she has built a multimedia digital company by doing less and working fewer hours—all while raising two small kids.In her newest book, “Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Busy Moms,” she says a resounding no to the addiction of busyness and debunks the myth that personal worth equals productivity.“We might be doing things just because we're upholding some standards that if we really were to check in with our hearts and souls, they're not actually bringing us joy,” she says. “So, I believe things need to either bring us results or bring us joy. If they don't bring us results or joy, they have no business in our lives.”I’m excited to talk to Kate about how she balances practical data with the important soul work to manage her business, her energy and her life. I’m especially intrigued with how she manages to “bend time.”Enjoy the show!

My guest today is a powerhouse of a woman who wants to see other women succeed… without burning out in the process. The marvelous Kate Northrup is an entrepreneur, speaker, mother and bestselling author of two profoundly helpful books: Money: A Love Story, (which has been published in 5 languages, oh la la!) and Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Busy Moms (which include dog or plant moms). I’m obsessed with Kate’s data-driven and soul-driven time and energy management practices that result in saving time, making more money, and experiencing less stress (and thus mega-improved wellness). We talked a lot about syching your sched to your menstrual sched (or the moon’s sched), honoring your energy, annndddd lying on the floor a lot. I loved every second and am pretty positive this chat will be my mantra for the new year. Yes, the whole damn chat. Press play to hear: Why doing less can often produce better results How to stop tying your self worth to your jam packed schedule An extra spin class or ladies night isn’t the cure: it’s in decluttering your schedule Why changing your schedule to fit your schedule is one of the best business moves you can make How a 24-hour cycle leads to unrealistic expectations Why it’s time to take rest without beating yourself up about it Scrapping the mindset that energetic days are BETTER than the ones where you need to rest How rest is an investment to become your bestest And so much more! “Most of the time we think that as entrepreneurs, if we want to make more revenue and have a big impact, there’s something we’re not doing that we need to add in. What if doing your best work in the world is NOT about fitting it all in, time management, or even leaning in to get greater results? It’s a radical thought, right? So many books and thought leaders keep telling us this is the only path to success... And nothing could be further from the truth! The amazing Kate Northrop is joining us on our walk today. She’s the author of the new book, “Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time and Energy Management for Busy Moms,” which shares the idea that, through doing less, women can have — and be — more. I had so many questions for Kate about my own divinely orchestrated call to slow down these days… and being able to do less while still having a sense of exponential growth in my business. To keep my business going my intuition is saying it is time for new innovation and I have held a belief that new creation requires doing more. But everything else in my life is calling me to slow down and at the same time a deep inner wisdom is asking me to simplify and do less. So is that maintenance mode? How do I slow down, while innovating, having a baby and not going into “maintenance mode”? How can I go all-in with one thing when I have an infant and a business that is ready to expand? I asked Kate these questions and she cut right to the heart of it all. As an entrepreneur, bestselling author, speaker, and mother, Kate has built a multimedia digital empire with her husband, Mike Watts, that reaches hundreds of thousands globally. They’re committed to supporting ambitious women to light up the world without burning themselves out in the process. Kate’s also a beloved mentor inside my all-in life coaching program, Mentor Masterclass. The women in the program love her commitment to empowering as many people as possible to have the ultimate luxury in life: choice. You can work with Kate on growing your business (and all the other celebrity mentors, too) — find out how to apply and join us! As you’ll hear in In this week’s episode we went deep... We’ve been brainwashed by our culture to believe that the more we work, the more successful we’ll be. And there are plenty of examples of that. What’s so fascinating about cycles, seasons, and nature works, is that when we focus on funneling our creative energies into something new, we also need to make choices about what those things are, so our creative innovative energy is more powerful. Most women end up thinking that, in order to be as successful as they want to be, they need to do more. The truth is, we need to FOCUS more, and be more creative and innovative. Not do more things. Isn’t that refreshing? And that’s all just the beginning of what Kate shared with me on our walk. Are you ready to slow down while your business continues to grow? We talked bending time, feeling worthy, the real meaning of surrender and so much more. The episode is live right now and you can come join us on a beautiful and life changing walk! The Monica Kade Podcast: Health, Mindset, Career & Lifestyle
"If you're not going to clear the space now...You're never going to have the space." - Kate Northrup, Ep81. The Monica Kade Podcast Welcome to Episode 81 of The Monica Kade Podcast. Today we're talking with Kate Northrup. She's an entrepreneur, bestselling author, and mother, who discovered that her “on purpose” work and dream are to support ambitious, motivated and successful women to light up the world without burning themselves out in the process. Kate's genuine nature, humorous soul and light-heartedness around the ups and downs of her life are what makes her so relatable. She's one of those rare people you meet and immediately feel like putting on the kettle so you can chit-chat over tea. In this conversation, we also talk in-depth about her latest book, Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time Management for Busy Moms. And I have to say, it's been one of my favourite reads this year. There were so many moments where I was saying, ‘Yes. OMG. YES!' The book found me in a time where I needed to ‘Do Less' and honour my body's needs so I could move forward with what I loved. What I love most about this book is its simple message: BE PRESENT. Go moment by moment. If you're like the many women in Kate's community and me, sometimes you get too focused on all the to-do's each day, that you forget to BE. This book is a way to slow down, get clear on what truly matters—to you—and execute on only that. If you only pick up one book in 2019—to read, of course—pick Do Less. I cross my heart you won't be disappointed. A read for all mothers and businesswomen. Let's build a world where busy isn't glorified, and productivity and results aren't tied to worth. >> Listen to the episode above. You'll be bursting with newfound joy if you do!
