Presented as published by the original podcasters. WaZzzzZzzzap, cunts. Yeah, we're doing a 90s themed episode. It was a rad decade where we squirmed over our first sex scenes (Titanic), fell in virtual love (MSN Messenger), and found our true selves (being scene)—only to abandon them until last week, when we came across a beautiful Midwestern teenager's eye makeup tutorial on TikTok. That's just how our world works now. Nostalgia is delicious, and what better time to explore another chronological dimension than now? As if you have actual things to do. Just kidding. But if you have the time, go check out Toronto carpenter Khaleel Seivwright's statement on providing shelter to those in need, or help Chinatown businesses in light of well, everything. ❤️

Bibi and Sarah have gone off to embrace a few important life events, but while they're away, they're leaving you with episodes from some of their favorite podcaster-friends! Presented as published by the original podcasters. This week, Julia and Caro investigate how far and meagre society has come when it comes to matters of sex work and oversharing on social media. Listeners, we present to you a few deep questions that reflect the dichotomous state of civil justice today: - Why is it that this 38 year-old Japanese man can rent himself out to thousands of lonely strangers, make $300K, and get a glowing review on VICE—when we've sat through hours of terrible dates and only have this silly podcast to show for it??? (https://www.vice.com/en/article/v7mp8m/japan-unique-jobs-rent-person-do-nothing-shoji-morimoto) - Do we deserve to be cancelled for naming names and talking shit about real people (friends, cousins, coworkers) on the internet? And more importantly, do those Diaryland and Livejournal entries still exist? - Conversely, should we be thankful we at least live in a world where limply ponytailed ghouls like Amy Cooper are fired for weaponizing their whiteness? Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD, Marissa Mistry had a very specific picture of what her future would look like and how she was going to get there. Then her competing interests led her to change the path of her education and career several times while ultimately staying true to herself. In this relaxed and vibrant conversation, we chat with the medical scientist-turned-business manager-turned-real estate rising star. We take a look at the courage it takes to sometimes admit to yourself and others that your best laid plans might no longer be the way forward, especially in the context of being the child of immigrant parents who just want the reassurance that you're well-adjusted and able to thrive in their adopted society. A fun yet insightful conversation with author and self-help advocate, Marian L. Thomas. We go on a ride as we cover a bunch of topics including racism, self-help for women, corporate initiatives around inclusion and diversity, and black hair. Born in Illinois, Marian wouldn't say that her first career choice was writing novels. She saw herself working as a journalist for a local newspaper. In college, she served as a sports editor for the student paper, and later as the news editor. But Marian's writing path took a detour when she drafted her first completed manuscript. Now, she can't imagine not crafting stories for women that bring characters to life - characters who face real obstacles, cross difficult barriers to find love, and discover all the wonderful possibilities that life can offer. Marian has been featured on television stations such as Fox, NBC and CBS, and in many print and online publications including USA Today. In her new novel, “Someone Like Me,” Marian examines race relations through the relationship of young people in love, but separated by the color of their skin. A thoroughly enjoyable conversation with Wendy Isaac Bergin, a Gulf Coast native who spent 22 years teaching music at Prairie View A & M and performing as Principal Flute in Houston's Opera In The Heights Orchestra for 19 years. Wendy's experience as a white educator at an HBCU where 90 percent of the student body is from a minority household makes for an enlightening and humorous topic of discussion. We explore her journey, life and influences including her time in Sweden and her encounter with an act of amazing grace. Her new book, Lessons In The Wild, follows musician and college instructor T. Sebastian Morrow as his life unravels when professional and personal trials befall him, forcing him to fight for his career. Stunning allegations against him leave his job in jeopardy and put him at odds with the administration. When Morrow's personal realm is also turned upside down, his unexpected guide is a young acquaintance who helps Sebastian remember what is most important in his life. In an incredible episode packed with unvarnished takes and no punches pulled, Bibi and Sarah talk with international economics authority and financial risk expert, Charles Jacobs. A mathematician who strives always to see things as they are, and not as rendered through bias, Charles is a leading mind on measuring financial risk for international firms using advanced mathematical modeling who's had the honor of speaking before Congress (P.S. It's not as sexy in real life as Tony Stark made it look). In this conversation, we talk about religious extremism in America, the genetic manipulation of plants and animals, the relationships and conflicts between science, religion, and morality, the possibility of secret cabals making global decisions, and so much more. In his debut novel, The Pangaea Solution, Charles explores the growing danger at the crossroads of overpopulation, food shortages, and the ability of small, violent groups to attempt to alter the world based on their misguided beliefs. Facts are what power The Pangaea Solution because everything in it either exists or is being researched for tomorrow's reality: the Christian Identity movement, white-supremacist groups like Aryan Nations, bio-engineered hybrid animals, genetically-mutated plants, weaponization of global weather patterns, and the role of internet commerce in global money-laundering. Bibi hosts this episode solo (listen to find out why) and is joined by David Schaelfer, a career international diplomat who has worked in the US State Department for several decades and has lived in several parts of the world including Bucharest, Hong Kong, Iraq, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico, Finland, Tokyo, and Kiev. We talk about incredible chapters from David's life such as his nerve-rattling encounter in Mexico with one of the infamous "narco-Satanico" (Satanic-cannibal) cult members who had been involved in a high profile murder case of an American college student, and how he adopted his daughter from Tyumen, Russia. A lifelong fan of mythology, David's fluency in the Finnish language led to years of research into Finland's famous Kalevala epic tale, and resulted in book “The Mark of the Bear Clan,” the first installment of a trilogy with the subsequent titles coming to the marketplace later this year. David's books take the baton from legendary authors like J.R.R. Tolkien, who was also influenced by the Kalevala to create his world-famous fantasy tales about Middle-Earth. There is so much laugher on this episode, you'd be well within your rights to catch a bit of FOMO just listening. The energy and positive vibes are palpable in this hilarious but thought-provoking conversation with our guest, Arthur Odeka. Arthur is an incredibly talented artist and animator who has worked on some of your (kids') favorite 3D animated shows, from Paw Patrol to 44 Cats. His journey from trying to suppress his artistic tendencies in favor of more "practical" disciplines (by Nigerian standards) to bursting onto the scene on the Canadian and international animation space is truly inspiring, and Bibi and Sarah have a lot of fun unpacking it with him. The conversation spans several topics including his childhood, first job and career growth, experience of homophobia in the workplace and his ongoing battle with a rare and obvious form of cancer. Gaurav has many reasons to hide away from the world and not wish to interact, but his outlook on life is quite the opposite - bringing his light and his wonderful nature into every interaction, and this is evident in this conversation. His attitude will leave you lifted, smiling and marveling at how he has overcome some truly unpleasant experiences through the course of his life. Naruro Hassan and Jasmine Amokao-Agyei are excellent examples of the strong, driven, intelligent and courageous black woman. In this powerful episode, Bibi and Sarah sit at a virtual roundtable with these two Arizona residents to discuss the incredible times we're living through and what it all means for the civil rights movement in the US. After meeting on their college campus a few times, Naruro and Jasmine almost immediately knew that they had to combine their energy to advocate and drive meaningful change and awareness in the area of Black and African people, and help elevate the conversation. On this episode, we discuss the current wave of events in the United States, most notably sparked by the horrific killing of George Floyd, and how Naruro and Jasmine are doing their part to ensure that the momentum doesn't fizzle out when the world moves on to the next "big" story. NOTE: This week's episode almost didn't happen! We were stalled several times by the fire alarm in the building going off repeatedly. The fire department was called and it was a crazy time for everyone. And then an inexplicable humming started and almost had us throwing in the towel. Fun times! But technical and situational issues regardless, we're glad we were able to make this episode happen! Our guest on this week's episode has a name that's an absolutely fantastic conversation starter - Byeon Sae. Yup, it's pronounced just like you thought it was. And that's just the beginning of the fun with Sae! Amateur photographer. Bass guitarist. Music producer. Audio-visual content creator. And none of these are even her day job! Bibi and Sarah have a blast talking with Sae about arriving in Canada as a teenager with only a few words of English in her vocabulary and a whole bunch of stuff that's happened in her exciting life since. She's certainly come a long way from being what she called “the typical shy Asian kid” who was unsure about everything. In what turned out to be the last episode they could physically get together to record before #socialdistancing became a thing, Bibi and Sarah make the most of the conversation with Sae, and there are a lot of laughs in this episode! Our guest on this episode began life as Michelle Laflamme, but is now proudly Brayden, an amazing transgender advocate who inspires with his words and actions. During the course of this episode, Bibi and Sarah cover quite a few topics with Brayden, from what it was like to grow up as a boy who was identified by everyone else as a girl, the journey to accepting the possibility of changing gender, and how adjusting to a new reality has worked out so far. Brayden also offers lots of advice and tips on how to stay positive and take charge of your narrative as a transgender individual. This episode is bound to resonate with a lot of people who have had to contemplate transitioning, while helping to educate those who might just wish to understand a bit more of what does on within the minds and lives of those going through what is a truly life-changing process.
