The Jason X Movie Review from the Salty Nerds has them marveling at the sheer camp of the tenth entry into the Friday The 13th franchise. So if you want to smoke some weed and have premarital sex, this is the movie for you! Sort of. Jason Voorhees has escaped from the Crystal Lake Research Facility and gets cryogenically frozen, only to be awoken 500 years later. After killing a bunch of horny space teenagers and space marines, Jason gets beat up by an "uploaded" android. But a bunch of nano-ants give him an upgrade to UBER JASON and now he's pretty much unstoppable. This is the final time Kane Hodder plays Jason Voorhees, and this movie also stars Lexa Doig, Peter Mensah, and even has a cameo from filmmaker David Cronenberg. If you thought horror couldn't get any sillier, wait until you see Jason X - one scene in particular is laugh-out-loud funny. Though we're not a horror movie podcast, we do like to review horror films, ESPECIALLY the campy ones! Lexa Doig is known around the world for playing ass-kicking characters on beloved genre shows. She played the Andromeda Ascendent on Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, an android and warship who didn't like running from a fight, and was Sonya Valentine on Continuum, one of the Liber8 future terrorists. She appeared on Arrow as former member of the League of Assassins Talia al Ghul, and stole her share of scenes in The Arrangement and Virgin River. She can currently be seen playing Aurora's BFF Sally Allison (a reporter and a member of the Real Murders Club) in the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries series. Got Smith has got good reason to believe it: During the course of the episode, at one point a frustrated Mon-El calls out "grife!" That's basically "Damn it!" In Legion-speak. The 31st Century team naturally have some slang that's particular to them...although it could turn out that's just a common exclamation in Interlac within the TV universe of Supergirl. That impression was rooted, in part, in the fact that fans have already seen evidence that the Legion not only exists in the world of Supergirl, but has a relationship with Superman. In the season 1 episode "Fortress," Supergirl headed to Superman's Fortress of Solitude for the first time and one of the first things the audience saw was a Legion of Super-Heroes flight ring mounted on a crystal dais inside. This time around, he got a version of the Steel powers -- and, as in the comics, it comes from Nazis trying to take out the JSA who inadvertently provide him with abilities. TO BE MARRIED TOMORROW - The idea that the beautiful girl he happens upon is set to be married tomorrow to the Shogun -- loosely translated as "Royal Ugly Dude" -- feels like the kind of thing that pops up from time to time in time-travel fiction...but Bill & Ted is the most obvious one for us. LOST - "If I've learned one thing from Lost, it's that you don't go opening secret hatches." This is one of a couple of not-so-subtle pop culture references this week. Typically those don't make the "Easter eggs" lists, but we're acknowledging more of them this year since last season we had lots of fans chiming in to let us know that we "missed" them in the comments. Obviously, that's a reference to the long-running network drama LOST, one of the big mysteries of which revolved around a hatch into an underground chamber which, rather than providing the answers the characters hoped, only resulted in more questions. 2056 - There are a few superheroes -- notably The Flash and Green Lantern -- who have spent time in the not-too-distant future quite a bit in their careers, but the year 2056 doesn't come up specifically in the comics. Where it does come up is in Young Justice, the animated series in which Barry Allen's grandson Bart (Impulse/Kid Flash/Flash) played a key role. In that version of the story, Bart comes from a future where The Reach has conquered Earth and travels back in time to join Young Justice, which in part could potentially help to alter that dark future. MASTER YODA  - Of course, almost anyone would know that the reference to Ray Palmer's "sensei" Yoda, who shared the wisdom "do or do not; there is no try," is a nod to The Empire Strikes Back, in which the diminutive Jedi Master trained Luke Skywalker to harness the Force. THE SOULTAKER - It's established by the end of the episode that the young woman Nate wanted to help was pretty capable of defending herself under normal circumstances. She's from the clan Yamashiro, which if you don't recognize, you ought to. Not only did her descendant Tatsu Yamashiro and her husband Maseo recur throughout season 3 of Arrow, but Tatsu also appeared in this summer's Suicide Squad movie in her costumed identity as Katana. That sword? It's the Soultaker which, in the comics and in the Suicide Squad movie, absorbs the soul energy of the people killed with it. And the description of those who have seen her on the set is that she wears all black. Put that with the executive producer Wendy Mericle saying that Green Arrow needs Black Canary and the spoiler-ish trailer telling us that the Laurel Lance we've seen is the Earth-2 version… this is making people on-line question if Tina Boland will become the new Black Canary. Earth-1 Laurel asked Ollie to not let the Black Canary end with her. Only the Earth-2 Laurel solves the problem of the Canary Cry being natural, but having her go through a full redemption arc compared to bringing in a new character all together might make Tina the better choice. We know she ends up joining with Team Arrow against Prometheus… but will she do it in a familiar black outfit? Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told ComicBook.com that he and the writers were aware of the excitement fans have for both Lundgren and the Bratva flashbacks, as well as the additional social media attention on all things Russian just now, all of which makes the episode seem like a good way to fill in some backstory. For anyone in that world, it's a difficult time to understand what's going on around you. In addition to the teasing of these complicated plot lines, the new trailer features a ton of action. In fact, we may be seeing some of the best action in the show's five-year run. It's likely been the name of a number of time travel-related stories -- but most recently, it was the name of a story that ran through The Flash #30-35 (from the 2011 series) and featured, among other villains, The Reverse-Flash. The fact that the final moments of the episode incorporate the "surprise" appearance of Eobard Thawne, then, suggests this could have been a more-than-incidental use of the name. OLIVER QUEEN - Oliver Queen, seen wearing a suit and not in his Green Arrow costume for the purposes of this season finale, is played by Stephen Amell. The star of Arrow, Oliver is generally considered the genesis point for The CW's DC Universe (even though they obviously had Smallville and Birds of Prey long before Arrow came along). Amell's Green Arrow appeared in the series premieres of both The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, so this episode more or less continues a tradition. NATE HEYWOOD - Nick Zano joins the cast as Nate Heywood -- "Citizen Steel" -- who in the comics inherits the powers and costume of his grandfather. He's a troubled individual, suffering from both physical and emotional damage, in the comics -- but as Zano told ComicBook.com at Comic Con International: San Diego, that's not the direction they're going with Heywood on TV. THE THREE MUSKETEERS - Cardinal Richelieu, depicted as one of the villains of Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers, being included in this episode more or less cements the idea that they look like that on purpose -- and explains why certain characters who were strategically important in the fight -- like Jax, for instance -- had to stay out of sight. REX TYLER - Rex Tyler, the Golden Age Hourman and a veteran member of the Justice Society of America, is one of a number of DC heroes who would pass on his name and legacy numerous times over the decades to come in the comics. On TV, he made a single, brief appearance at the end of the season 1 finale of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and will show up again -- with the rest of the Justice Society this time -- in next week's episode as well. DAMIEN DARHK - Damien Darhk was the season four big bad on Arrow. Like Ra's al Ghul, he's a very old man who has been kept relatively young by the Lazarus Pit because of his position of power and authority first within the League of Assassins and later in H.I.V.E. Originally created as a villain in The Titans, Darhk's control of H.I.V.E. made him an ideal choice when The CW decided to introduce a magical villain last year. He was nearly unbeatable until Oliver figured out how to manipulate Darhk's energy to his own ends, and now he's dead -- except that as somebody who's been not only alive, but rich and powerful for decades, he's surprisingly easy for a time-traveling troublemaker to find and recruit. ALBERT EINSTEIN - First of all, he's appeared in DC Comics before. In an oversized issue Superman vs. Wonder Woman, Nazis went after Einstein in 1942. Ultimately, Wonder Woman rescues him but ends up finding out about the Manhattan Project. After becoming a person of interest for a while and throwing down with Superman a bit, she ends up teaming up with the Last Son of Krypton to track down and defeat Baron Blitzkrieg. Secondly, the thing with his wife is actually based in historical controversy.  Mileva Marić was a Serbian physicist and has long been rumored to have coauthored Einstein's 1905 paper on relativity. INSULTING RAY - Calling him a "boy scout" feels like a nod to Brandon Routh's time as Superman, but the whole "what are you without that suit?" reeks of Marvel's The Avengers. That's a comic book movie reference twofer! REVERSE-FLASH - Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, may have something up his sleeve. At the end of The Flash's Season 3 premiere earlier this month, he said that while his future was as it should be, Barry's might not be. Barry then went home to discover a number of small anomalies that made his life and those of his friends worse. Now, we learn that "somebody" is outfitting the villains of history with future tech in order to push the world to a slightly worse place. Could Eobard Thawne have stepped right out of "Flashpoint" and into "Out of Time?" Either way, seeing him and Darhk together is enough to make seasoned Arrowverse fans quake in their boots even before they know the other members of Thawne's little Legion of Doom. Talia is the daughter of Ra's — who was the main villain in “Arrow's” third season, played by Matt Nable — and the half-sister of Nyssa al Ghul, who's played by Katrina Law. Talia, like Nyssa, is an elite warrior, excelling in multiple different forms of combat. Unlike her sister though, she refuses to pick sides and instead creates her own.
