Join Alex as he takes a solo look at the post-war fascist future of no emotions in Equilibrium (2002), Kurt Wimmer's 1984-esque future where a city-state has outlawed emotions. The film stars an up-and-coming Christian Bale, Taye Diggs, Sean Bean (blink-and-you'll-miss-it), with Emily Watson and Angus MacFadyen. After World War III, fascists thought war and crime were emotions' fault, so they developed a drug that suppresses emotional extremes, and if you don't take it everyday, read books, or participate in culture, well... Clerics come and act as judge, jury, and sometimes executioner! What do theories of emotion have to say about the portrayal of emotion in this film, and is its take accurate from psychological perspective? Does it matter with all the gun martial arts though? Saw III marks a major shift in the Saw franchise as we see Jigsaw die at the hands of his greatest enemy...Jeff? This week in our retrospective we're tackling the third installment of the Saw franchise. Starring Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith, Angus Macfadyen, Bahar Soomekh, and Dina Meyer. We start this film right where the last one left off with Jigsaw now on his deathbed and Amanda trying to do everything to keep him on this Earth…while being terrible at the one thing he asked her to do. Saw II was a crowd favorite, so will Saw III live up to the hype? We also talk about Terrifier 2, our cats, and the mysterious stomach bug working through everyone you know and love. Ray has never seen Warriors of Virtue!Who has?! That's right. We are breaking format and bringing on a special guest who has seen just about everything. Our goal is to find him a movie so obscure that he couldn't possibly have seen it. Our first pick - Warriors of Virtue (1997). A movie about Kung-Fu Kangaroos with the powers of the 5 Chinese Elements.Mike and Gregg were obsessed with this movie as kids, and now they get to force Ray to watch it for the first time. Should we even think thoughts?Does this movie reference Tom Cruise more than our podcast? Why did a critic literally vomit at the screening of this film?
ns break into a building whose purpose is unclear, but there is a strange, open whirlpool in one room which Danielle is super excited about. Ryan falls into this whirlpool and is transported to the magical world of Tao which is under threat from the evil Komodo who wants to drain all the Life Springs of their energy sustaining element Zubrium so he can use it to stay young and powerful while the rest of the people in Tao die. Sam doesn't get it either, but is all about the word Zubrium and Angus Macfadyen's amazing acting choices as Komodo. Ryan eventually meets up with the titular Warriors of Virtues who are, in fact, Kung Fu Kangaroos and nothing has delighted Danielle or Sam more than that simple phrase. However, one of the five warriors has left to be a hermit in a swamp after failing to uphold the vow of never killing anyone. Now it's up to Ryan to reunite the Warriors, mostly by berating them, and to try and find a way home all while learning absolutely no Kung Fu. You can also join Danielle's quest to have a watch party where Sam re-dubs all the sound effects in the movie; he will not do a good job.

We take a deep entertaining look into Robert the Bruce. Angus MacFadyen reprises his roll from Braveheart as Robert the Bruce , following a series of military losses, with his army in tatters and the success of his rebellion in doubt, Robert retreats from the battlefield. Alone, injured, and pursued by fortune-seekers intent on collecting a bounty placed on his head by King Edward of England, he finds refuge in the croft of a peasant woman and the three children in her care: a teenage nephew, a young niece, and her own son.

Recently as part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival Craig was able to sit down with the director and cast of Robert the Bruce. The conversation included director Richard Gray as well as starts Angus MacFadyen, Zach McGowan and Anna Hutchison. The discussion covered cold weather filming, themes being explored, how ideals are interpreted along with a quick question about Power Rangers, The 100 and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Bear in mind the interview was conducted in a busy hotel lobby so there is some background noise but the conversation is more than clear.
