What if your fatigue, weight gain, hormone imbalances, and brain fog all traced back to a silent disease that affects 1 in 3 people—and you didn't even know you had it? In today's episode, I'm joined by Dr. Elizabeth Boham and Dr. Yousef Elyaman to talk about a condition that's quietly becoming one of the biggest threats to our health: fatty liver disease—now renamed Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD). It's not just a liver issue. It's deeply connected to heart disease, cancer, infertility, type 2 diabetes, dementia, and even hormone dysfunction. The most alarming part is it's often missed in traditional medicine because there's no easy drug to prescribe. We break down: The real root causes—from sugar and starch overload to gut imbalances, toxins, alcohol, and chronic inflammation The surprising early warning signs your body might be giving you Why standard labs often miss it, and the tests you actually need The step-by-step functional medicine approach to reverse fatty liver naturally—using targeted nutrition, lifestyle upgrades, and proven supplements I also share the latest science on inflammation, why it's the common thread between fatty liver and nearly every chronic disease, and how to calm it down at the root. This is the episode I wish every patient (and doctor) could hear—because fatty liver is reversible when you catch it early, and the ripple effects of healing it are massive. If you care about your energy, hormones, brain health, or longevity… this one's for you. Maybe you've heard the saying: what we resist, persists. Many holistic health experts believe that, when we avoid or reject emotions, the energy of those emotions get stuck in the body and become contributing factors to long-term pain and even disease. In today's episode, I connect with Dr. Patricia (Trish) Muehsam, a pioneer in the synthesis of science, holistic health and contemporary spirituality. We discuss her new book, Beyond Medicine: A Physician's Revolutionary Prescription for Achieving Absolute Health and Finding Inner Peace. Our conversation takes a deep dive into the mind-body connection to better understand the link between emotions and our physical bodies, and how thoughts and feelings can create either a state of ease or distress. We also learn how to cultivate a sense of peace and surrender to aid in our journey towards more absolute health. Here's what to look forward to in today's episode: -How Western medicine is limiting us in how we heal -Dr. Muehsam's explanation of Absolute Health -The link between our emotions and our physical bodies -How suppressing our emotions can impact our bodies -How some habits perceived as healthy can actually negatively impact our bodies -Why we are not serving ourselves when it comes to food and multitasking -The “guest house” metaphor to describe the notion of healing from the inside out -Ways to use mirror work and mind-body sensing tools to help with anger Connect with Dr. Muehsam: IG: @drtrishmuehsam Website Get your copy of Beyond Medicine Facebook Page Twitter: @drtrishmd Guest house poem Connect with Whitney IG: @Whitneywoman
This episode is a very raw chat with Dr Peter Braun as he shares his own experiences as a student where he was overwhelmed with stress and anxiety, to a point where he didn't know how to deal with it. We also touch on the hardships he has had to overcome in his career to date. There are so many lessons to take out of this discussion! Being overwhelmed as an intern in a hospital was a very prominent experience for Dr Braun. At the time, he didn't recognise these episodes as panic attacks that were caused by anxiety, and his way of dealing with it was to just ‘muscle through it'. He describes it as being paralysed and being overwhelmed with fear and panic. We discuss how times have changed since then, and how he would have received more help if he had known. He admits that his biggest mistake was not seeking advice for help. Because of the way that mental health was spoken about back then, Dr Braun felt like he was on his own and he was forced to fix the issue himself. Many people can still relate to this feeling of loneliness when dealing with mental health issues. We also touched on his fear of not being in control. Dr Braun has always been comfortable when he is in control but has become better at being comfortable when not being in control. He deals with it through his confidence in his experiences and having the right resource on hand. As the CMO, Dr Braun treats mental health as equally important as physical health for the winter Olympic athletes. Dr Braun shares a few tragic experiences during his time in the Winter Olympic Team, and how he could only be in control of certain things at a time. And on top of this, Dr Braun has an unreal story about being stuck in the middle of the ocean a few years ago. Speaking on anxiety triggering events and building resilience! What was amazing about this story was how Dr Braun and his friend delt with this trauma. They just spoke about it, together, and wrote down each other's events of the days at sea. https://www.absolutehealthperformance.com.au/948-high-street-armadale peter.braun@absolutehealthperformance.com.au
What would perfect health look like? Is it all about fixing the body, but your inner-peace is at a breaking point?A pioneer in the synthesis of science, holistic health, and contemporary spirituality, Dr. Patricia Muehsam introduces and explores a path to health and well-being that is extraordinary in its ease and profound in its results. This groundbreaking work explores what health and healing — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual — really mean and offers a revolutionary new way to think about health. You'll discover experiences of illness and healing that defy conventional thinking, explore the ancient wisdom and the modern science of consciousness, and learn practical tools for experiencing Absolute Health — which are also tools for navigating being human.Patricia A. Muehsam, MD, a pioneer in the synthesis of science, holistic health, and contemporary spirituality, has distinguished herself as a practitioner, educator, and research scientist. Dr. Muehsam has been an influential force in shaping the landscape of health care options available today. As a thought leader, she was invited to participate in the National Institutes of Health-sponsored endeavors to investigate health care practices outside the realm of Western medicine, which led to the government-mandated formation of the Office of Alternative Medicine, now the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. https://transformationalmedicine.org
Joel talks about his experience from drinking a 6 pack of beer and just choosing the courses he enjoyed most, to now being one of the most respected physiotherapists in the greater Melbourne area. He shares the struggles of once owning his own business, and how he bounced back from some rough times in the business. One of Joel's specialties is dealing with pain and explaining exactly where pain comes from. We know that we feel pain when the brain perceives danger based on the information it has received. It's fascinating to realise that experiencing stress and immense emotional distress can light up the same pathways that are involved with physical injury. In explaining this, Joel talks about how we create neural pathways from injury and what the long-term impacts of these neural pathways have on the body. We talk about how factor such as fear and focusing too much on specific pain can fuel it, but confidence in the body and person can be a way to overcome it. Joel himself can relate to this as he shares his experience of being stood down at work due to the pandemic, and how the pain from a previous injury came back. Unexplained pain can be explained! Joel and I also discussed the state of flow. A new term to Joel, but the feeling and experience of being in ‘a flow state' was not uncommon for him. It's a state of being lost in time with what you're doing in the present. Time passes by while you have such immense focus and concentration. He relates this to his experiences with his clients, as he gives them his complete concentration. https://www.linkedin.com/in/joel-laing-a581a922/ joel.laing@absolutehealthperformance.com.au
A client expressed surprise that a few months ago she could barely get off the couch due to severe pain, and now she is pain free while taking care of her 2 grandsons for 2 weeks in a house with stairs. My guest understands what my client is experiencing. Dr. Muehsam says: “Absolute health is simply peace of mind. It's our essential nature…It's the state of mind that we need to be in to heal from whatever ails us health-wise, and to shift circumstances and situations in our lives. Here's why: our thoughts and feelings affect our health and well-being instantaneously. Every thought and feeling is either creating a state of ease or dis-ease. A calm, peaceful mind creates a calm and peaceful body. A disturbed mind creates stress in the body… All physical symptoms, all diseases, have an emotional component…if we don't heal what's going on emotionally, we'll never heal those physical symptoms, those physical diseases. We might find ways to mitigate physical symptoms and diseases by treating and suppressing symptoms. This is something that Western medicine does very well, and something that is often very necessary, if we've got acute or emergent issues going on. But if we don't heal emotionally, mitigating symptoms ends up pushing the symptoms and disease elsewhere. All healing is ultimately emotional healing. It's healing from the inside out.” Please join us Thursday to learn how to attain Absolute Health with the correct 5 tools and the 4 primary medicines which, instead of prescriptions, are: food, lifestyle, relationships and community, and purpose.

After decades researching this question, Patricia Muehsam, MD, offers a revolutionary new way to think about health. Dr. Muehsam invites readers to travel beyond medicine, to Absolute Health. It involves being, not doing, and it's available to all of us, in this very moment. Each of our daily actions in the past can impact our future outcomes. Therefore, with an increase of tasks within our entrepreneur journey each day, it is important to have your mind and body work in a flow. Otherwise, you, me and everyone else place ourselves a risk of burnout, decrease in productivity, lack of focus, fatigue, stress and much more. So it is important to take action before it is too late. To understand how and where to begin, on this episode I have hosted Ed Ley, physical and mental performance coach as well as Founder of Absolute Health. In network marketing, people love to sell ‘Financial Freedom'. But let's be honest – it's a bit of a white lie…. We sell the potential; the cars, holidays and big cheques. But we rarely talk about the next step. We show people how to make money, but not how to achieve freedom. Because wealth and freedom have nothing to do with how much money you make. It's about how much money you keep and how hard it works for you in the background. Freedom is measured in time, not dollars. Network Marketing is the ultimate side-hustle in today's world. It's the best way to earn an extra income in your spare time – bar none. But it's not Financial Freedom – yet. HEALTHY LIFESTYLE with Host Lori Anne Casdia with Guest Darlene Calabrese, Absolute Health & Fitness Owner of Absolute Health and Fitness, NASM CPT, Women's Exercise Specialist, STRONG by Zumba Instructor.Fitness has always been a part of her life from a young age. Her mom worked out with her best friend in her basement and Darlene always enjoyed jumping in and making up her own workout for that day. She fell in love with teaching her workout to her best friend (her daughter) and from then she thought she'd like to do something in the fitness industry.Throughout her life, fitness has taught her so much. First and foremost discipline. I had the discipline to consistently get something done on a daily basis and it became a habit. She had the determination to see change. As she got older and into college, fitness became a stress reliever and an outlet to get a little "me" time. Now as a wife and a mother of 3 it is her sense of well being and control. It gives her something to strive for. The energy it gives her allows her to go about her day with excitement and a sense of accomplishment. It keeps her body young and she wants to teach others how adopting health and fitness as a lifestyle can have them living up to the best of their abilities and even pass their expectations of fitness.Like everyone, She's gone through struggles and heartaches. She has overcome the constant lack of energy, the family breakups, and the financial lows. All of our experiences make us who we are today. It's how we choose to use those experiences to form our futures. Darlene is so grateful for what she has but ambitious to achieve the goals she set before her. This attitude along with God has given her the mentality that she can make it through anything. Speaking to taking her personal training online she will continue to provide online home classes even after the quarantine is done. She wants to open a small intimate space for people to feel comfortable during their workout no matter their level of fitness and wants to provide a community of support and in a fun atmosphere.
