“God's Mediators”Exodus 6:28-7:13 [ESV]28 On the day when the Lord spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, 29 the Lord said to Moses, “I am the Lord; tell Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say to you.” 30 But Moses said to the Lord, “Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips. How will Pharaoh listen to me?”7:1 And the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet. 2 You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go out of his land. 3 But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, 4 Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and bring my hosts, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment. 5 The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them.” 6 Moses and Aaron did so; they did just as the Lord commanded them. 7 Now Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.8 Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 9 “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Prove yourselves by working a miracle,' then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.'” 10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. 11 Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts. 12 For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs. 13 Still Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.CONNECT WITH USIf you have any questions or would like to get to know us further, head over to https://www.triumphlbc.org/connect and fill out our online connection card.ABOUT TRIUMPHTriumph wants to see the life and message of Jesus transform your heart, home, and city. What if divorce didn't have to be as complicated or expensive? Liz Pharo, the founder of Divorce.com, is on a mission to make the divorce process easier and less stressful. In this episode, Liz shares how she transitioned from the tech world to create Divorce.com, a platform designed to help people handle the paperwork, planning, and even mediation in a more streamlined way. Liz and I talk about the different types of divorce, mediated vs. court-based, and why focusing on the kids and minimizing trauma is key. Plus, Liz shares how Divorce.com can save you time and money, the importance of working with coaches and therapists during the process, and why you need to be aware of sketchy divorce service providers. Divorce is never simple, but with the right resources and mindset, it doesn't have to be confusing or exhausting. What you'll hear: Liz's journey from software engineer to Divorce.com founder (2:56) How Divorce.com simplifies the divorce process (7:57) The benefits of mediation and working with professionals (10:30) Why being informed about divorce options is crucial (26:12) Learn more about Liz Pharo: Elizabeth "Liz" Pharo launched Divorce.com in 2022 with the vision of revolutionizing the way people divorce – offering a more compassionate and healthier path with less conflict and financial burden. Amid her own divorce, Liz founded Divorce.com to pave the way for individuals to access online divorce services at a fraction of the cost, as well as eliminate the taboo that still remains around divorce. The company's goal is to have couples planning to divorce first consider “Divorce.com-ing it.” Mediators then guide couples through the Divorce.com process to complete their divorce peacefully with mutual respect for both parties. Beyond her work helping Divorce.com reduce the time, cost, and trauma of the typical divorce process, Liz is dedicated to the growth and development of her own community and serves on the boards of the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, Venture for America, and Blight-Free Birmingham. Liz enjoys running and spending time with her family at Lake Martin. Our guest is Ryan Armstrong, author of The Book of Job in Wonderland Of all of the great works of literature that might be compared, the idea of setting the text of the Book of Job next to the 19th century classic Alice in Wonderland probably doesn't come to mind. But Religious Studies professor Ryan Armstrong did notice more than a few links between them and presents them in his book The Book of Job in Wonderland: Making (Non)Sense of Job's Mediators.Yes, serious theological study and whimsy can certainly be paired on occasion, and this is one of those. What do Job and Alice have in common? What characters in Wonderland might resonate with God, Satan and the friends of Job? And what can we take from this connection, if indeed there is one? Join us for this fascinating (and yes, whimsical) conversation. Ryan M. Armstrong is Visiting Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible at Oklahoma State University. His research focuses on ancient Hebrew literature within its linguistic and historical context and its impact on interpreters throughout history.

Leaders within the Anchorage Jewish and Muslim community reacted with excitement to the news of a ceasefire deal in Gaza, as well as cautious optimism. Mediators from the U.S., Qatar, Hamas, as well as President Biden, announced Wednesday morning that agreements had been reached for a ceasefire. The deal has not been finalized yet — but if it is, it will go into effect on Sunday, which local community members said they were excited about.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A Middle East expert says the Israelis and the Palestinians have a long way to go if they're ever to live side-by-side peacefully. AP correspondent Donna Warder reports.
Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Military reporter Emanuel Fabian joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. This morning, a “final round” of Gaza truce talks was due to start in Qatar. According to AFP, today’s meetings “are aimed at finalizing the remaining details of the deal,” with the heads of Israel’s intelligence agencies, the Middle East envoys for the incoming and outgoing US administrations, and Qatar’s prime minister present. Mediators are to meet separately with Hamas officials, the source says. Fabian explains what he knows so far about security arrangements that may be put in place in Gaza in the event of a ceasefire. Five Israel Defense Forces soldiers were killed and 10 were wounded in an explosion in northern Gaza on Monday, the military said, raising Israel’s toll in over 15 months of fighting in the Strip to 407. The slain troops were all serving with the Nahal Brigade’s Reconnaissance Unit. On Saturday, four soldiers were killed and six were wounded during fighting, also in the northern Gaza Strip. We hear initial findings about these two terrible incidents. The IDF said Monday it had struck several Hezbollah sites in Lebanon overnight, saying the targets violated the terms of the ceasefire agreement. It said it did so after the international ceasefire monitoring mechanism failed to address them, despite being advised on the matter. This is not the first time -- and it's likely not the last, says Fabian. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels launched ballistic missiles within hours of each other on Monday evening and early Tuesday morning, triggering sirens that sent hundreds of thousands of Israelis rushing into shelters. This comes after a Friday night retaliatory attack by the Israeli Air Force against Houthi targets in Yemen. Fabian shares why the Houthis may not yet be deterred. IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Amir Baram on Friday notified his commander, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, that he would leave his role as planned at the end of February. Is it because he wants Halevi's job instead? Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. US bureau chief Jacob Magid joins host Jessica Steinberg on today's episode. Magid discusses the ongoing hostage negotiations, commenting that if a deal happens, it will probably take place closer to the January 20 inauguration date for President-elect Donald Trump. Magid says that Qatari negotiators are asking the Israeli government to be more flexible in their current mandate, as Hamas seeks assurances that Israel won't return to fighting after the discussed first phase. Magid reviews some threatening comments made during a podcast interview by Mike Waltz, President-elect Donald Trump's pick for national security advisor. Waltz spoke about punishments and reprisals for those who take US hostages, with an emphasis placed by both Trump and Waltz in recent comments on the American hostages who are held in Gaza. Magid speaks about an unlikely statement from US Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew, who asserted that a new report alleging famine in north Gaza was incorrect, remarking that the data used was outdated. The unexpected statement was possibly a final shot by Lew as an outgoing ambassador, says Magid. For news updates, please check out The Times of Israel’s ongoing live blog. What You'll Hear: Why pets are no longer treated as mere property in divorce How the changing legal landscape impacts pet custody decisions Key considerations for creating a pet custody agreement Tips for minimizing stress for your pets during separation Golden Nuggets: “ You can't make the decision on the dog's future based on your hurt feelings or your negative emotions. You're not considering your dog. You're not seeing the situation through their eyes. And that's really hard, but you can do it. The most correct decision for the dog is there, if you dig for it.” “ Your dog will be fine. Dogs are so much more adaptable than we think they are. Don't imagine that your dog will be as upset as you are. I know that's hard to hear. It's harder for us than it is for dogs.” “ How do we look after our pets during divorce where we're really focusing on what's best for the dog? Join us as we explore Jesus Christ's role as the ultimate mediator who established a new covenant filled with better promises and eternal hope? We draw from the scriptures of 1 Timothy and Hebrews and discuss the responsibility believers have in embodying the ministry of reconciliation, becoming true ambassadors for Christ. We consider the timeless stories of mediation found within scripture, from the unbreakable bond between Jonathan and David to Moses's courageous negotiations with Pharaoh. Witness Jonathan's selfless protection of David and the lasting covenant they forge, while considering Moses's pivotal role in leading the Israelites toward freedom. Through these narratives, we uncover the profound lessons of loyalty, faithfulness, and the enduring impact of keeping one's word in the quest for justice and liberation. Revisit the dramatic account of Abigail's intervention between David and Nabal, where wisdom and humility shine through as powerful tools for peace. Abigail's astute actions not only prevent bloodshed but earn her respect and admiration, highlighting the themes of intercession and forgiveness. As we close, we reflect on our calling to be peacemakers, inspired by Jesus's teachings, while emphasizing the spiritual calling to pursue peace in every relationship, guided by the Spirit to bring harmony into our lives and the lives of others."Message Our Father's Heart a Question or Response"Support the showThank you so much for listening and sharing with others! Today's Headlines: Israel has reportedly accepted a ceasefire and hostage deal, despite Hamas's rejection of the latest proposal. Mediators are now pressuring Hamas to agree, though specific details could take days to finalize. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on his ninth trip to the region since October 7th, warned that this might be the last chance to secure a ceasefire and free hostages before significant regional escalation. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party is gathered in Chicago for the convention, where President Biden headlined speeches in support of Vice President Kamala Harris's presidential nomination. In other news, former NY Representative George Santos pled guilty to felony fraud charges, admitting to multiple criminal acts including wire fraud, identity theft, and misuse of campaign funds, he will face sentencing on February 7th. AP correspondent Ed Donahue reports on another trip to the Middle East for the Secretary of State.
The Democratic National Convention (DNC) kicks off on Monday. It's the first day of a four-day event during which Vice President Kamala Harris will formally accept the party's nomination. Harris has already officially won the Democratic presidential nomination in an online vote, the first time a nominee was named before a party convention. However, party leaders will still hold a ceremonial vote at the convention to celebrate the occasion. NTD takes a look at what's been happening on the ground in Chicago, and how the city has been getting ready for the tens of thousands of people expected to attend the DNC. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Israel to meet with top officials. He's hoping to close a hostage and cease-fire deal this week to end the Israel–Hamas War. Diplomats are also hoping a deal can avert an expected strike from Iran and its terror proxies. Mediators will meet in Egypt on Tuesday to push a proposal the Biden administration hopes will bridge any remaining gaps. In Tel Aviv, meanwhile, police are investigating an explosion that killed one person and injured another on Aug. 18. Ukraine says it's continuing to make gains in Russia's Kursk region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the goal of the incursion is to create a buffer zone and to disrupt Russian army supply lines. Meanwhile, Belarus has said there's been a build-up of Ukrainian troops along its border. And the United Nations nuclear watchdog has warned that safety levels at a Ukrainian power plant controlled by Russia are deteriorating rapidly. ⭕️ Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV

AP correspondent Norman Hall reports U.S. and other frustrated mediators are calling on Israel and Hamas to resume Gaza talks.
*) Mediators invite Israel, Hamas to resume Gaza truce talks Israel's war on Gaza has entered its 11th month and mediators are calling on Tel Aviv and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas to resume urgent talks on August 15, either in Doha or Cairo. Qatar, Egypt and the US are leading actors in the mediation to put an end to Israel's war that has killed nearly 40,000 Palestinians and left the tiny coastal enclave of Gaza in ruins. The mediators say they now have a framework agreement on the table with only the details of the implementation left to conclude. *) Haniyeh's assassination shows Israel doesn't want ceasefire: Erdogan Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again called upon the international community to stop Israel's dangerous escalation of its military aggression. Commenting on Israel's assassination of Hamas's politburo leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the Turkish president said Tel Aviv has once again demonstrated its lack of intention to engage in a ceasefire. Erdogan warned that the Israeli war on Gaza could engulf the region into a wider and an even destructive conflict. *) Zelenskyy sends tough message to Putin as Ukraine enters Russia's Kursk Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has lauded his troops for storming Russia's southwestern Kursk region — an incursion called a “major provocation” by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The incursion appears to be the most significant Ukrainian attack in over two years of the conflict. Putin called Kiev's actions an “indiscriminate attack against civilian facilities, residential buildings and ambulance vehicles”. *) Trump recommits to September 10 debate and lashes out at Harris After recently backing out, Republican candidate Donald Trump has recommitted to debating Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump held a lengthy news conference in which he taunted his rival, boasted of his crowd on January 6, 2021, and questioned whether there would be “honest elections” in November. The debate is likely to take place on September 10 on ABC, setting up the first face-to-face match-up between the two rivals in what polls show is an extremely tight race. *) Earth's record-breaking heat streak ends but climate threat remains July 2024 narrowly misses being the hottest month on record, ending a 13-month streak as El Nino subsides, but experts warn that the climate crisis' impact is far from over. The European climate agency Copernicus said the overall context hasn't changed, adding that the Earth's climate continues to warm. The El Nino effect has ended, the climate agency said, and hence July's slight easing of temperatures.
Mediators involved in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations say a framework agreement is on the table, with only the details of implementation left to resolve. The leaders of the US, Egypt and Qatar have urged Israel and Hamas to avoid further delay and meet next week to finalise the deal.

Today Dr. David LeMay steps in to co-host with Dr. Ken Ford for our interview with Dr. Charles Serhan. Charles is a Harvard professor best known for his discovery of specialized pro-resolving mediators. SPMs are molecules that can activate the natural resolution of inflammation and help people avoid anti-inflammatory drugs. The discovery of SPMs spurred a paradigm shift in our understanding of inflammation and human disease. Charles is the Simon Gelman Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School and the director of the Center for Experimental Therapeutics and Reperfusion Injury at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He also is a co-director of the Brigham Research Institute. David, who was our guest on Episode 69 of STEM-Talk, is a sports medicine and rehabilitation physician with a Pensacola, Florida practice that focuses on lifestyle and performance medicine. He also is a visiting research scientist here at IHMC. Show notes [00:03:33] David opens the interview mentioning that Charles grew up in New York City with a passion for music. David explains that Charles learned to play the vibraphone in junior high and played professionally for a year before going to college. David asks Charles why he decided to pursue science instead of music. [00:04:22] Ken asks Charles what kind of vibraphone he plays. [00:06:02] Ken asks, aside from the desire to help people, if there was something particular about studying science that Charles really enjoyed. [00:06:45] David asks about Charles' experience at the State University of New York at Stonybrook studying biochemistry and immunohistochemistry. [00:07:16] David asks if there was any carry over of skills for Charles from his career in music to his career in science. [00:08:16] Ken mentions that after Charles earned his bachelor's degree, one of his professors persuaded him to go to New York University for a master's and Ph.D. Ken also mentions that at the time Charles worked in the lab of Gerald Wiseman at Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory and asks about that experience. [00:12:37] David asks if this experience led Charles to a focus on neutrophil membrane remodeling for his Ph.D. [00:13:59] David asks Charles if it was at the Karolinska Institute where he met his future wife. [00:14:38] Ken asks Charles about one of his mentors, Michael Heidelberg, who gave Charles advice about how to be a good scientist. [00:17:13] David explains that in the 1990's Charles discovered Specialized Pro-Resolution Mediators and has since pioneered a new field on the utility of SPMs for a variety of inflammatory diseases. [00:25:01] Ken backs up to ask Charles what drew him to study inflammation in the first place and how that led him to do more research on the subject than any other scientist. [00:26:26] David asks Charles to touch on some different types of inflammation that the body experiences. [00:35:12] Ken asks Charles about how a trip to Asia during which he developed a hole in his intestines, resulted in first-hand experience on the importance of controlling inflammation. [00:41:00] David asks if Charles was taking any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications when he developed peritonitis. [00:41:53] David asks Charles to explain what non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications do to the healing process. [00:45:35] David brings up a recent discovery in animal models that as animals age, their ability to produce resolution mediators declines, possibly contributing to the loss of muscle mass with age. [00:48:09] Ken asks Charles to talk about the explosion of research into the potential therapeutic applications of SPMs in the treatment of a variety of chronic diseases known to be driven in part by chronic inflammation. [00:51:06] David asks Charles to explain the differences between resolvins, protectins, and maresins, as well as what role each plays in the healing process. [00:56:04] Ken mentions a review article that Charl...

This episode is brought to you by Four Sigmatic. t's a really good time right now to be aware of supporting our immune system. In particular, looking at nutritive inputs known as immunomodulators. So these are nutrients and nutrient sources that can help our immune system to adapt. Not going too high or too low, but being able to adapt and mount an appropriate response to any pathogen we might be faced with. Now research published in the Journal of Pharmacological Sciences found that the polysaccharides in reishi, this renowned medicinal mushroom, have extensive immunomodulating effects, including supporting the function of humoral immunity and cellular immunity as well. Another study published in the journal, Mediators of Inflammation showed that these polysaccharides in reishi were found to enhance the proliferation of our B-cells and T-cells. Alright, so directly improving the function of our immune system. This is really special. But also an important ingredient for supporting our immune system is our sleep quality. That's one of the things that if that is disturbed, especially consistently disturbed, it can suppress our immune system and make us more susceptible to things like colds and flus. But this is another powerful place for reishi because a study published in the Journal of Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior found that the renowned medicinal mushroom reishi was able to significantly decrease sleep latency. Meaning that it helped study participants to fall asleep faster, it increased overall sleep time and increased non-REM deep sleep time and REM sleep time as well. That's really, really special. It is a whole body supportive source of nutrition. But the quality, this is the key, the quality matters so very much. I don't want you to run out and just get any random reishi because this is a recent study reported this, the majority of medicinal mushroom products on the market have a little, if any, medicinal mushroom, the viable parts of the medicinal mushroom in it. One company that you can trust that goes above and beyond that does a dual extraction of these medicinal mushrooms to give you the real nutrition that you're looking for is Four Sigmatic. Go to foursigmatic.com/model. That's foursigmatic.com/model. You're going to get 10% off their incredible reishi elixir. And they also have a delicious reishi hot cocoa as well that I actually just made for my son today. This is one of his favorite things to sip on. And so these are really cool ways that we can get these powerful nutrients into our bodies. And they've got incredible, again, this is all organic. They've got the reishi hot cocoa, the reishi elixir, and also lion's mane. They've got organic mushroom coffee blends as well. So many different ways to get these incredible inputs. Go to foursigmatic.com/model. You're gonna get 10% off store wide. This episode is brought to you by PaleoValey. As I'm sharing with Ed in this conversation, vitamin C isn't just crucial for your immune system, it's also critical in helping our bodies to manage stress. According to data published in the Journal of Nutrition and Food Sciences, both emotional and physical stress can affect a person's vitamin C status. It can actually increase the requirement for vitamin C to maintain normal blood levels, and when stress depletes vitamin C levels in the body, it reduces the person's resistance to infections and disease and increases the likelihood of further stress. When vitamin C intake is increased, according to these researchers, the negative effects of excessive stress hormones are reduced and the body's ability to cope with stress improves. Being able to manage stress is a key to staying healthy and resilient. And as I shared with Ed, one of my favorite sources for high quality food-based vitamin C is from camu camu berry. For years I've been utilizing a concentrate of camu camu berry, amla berry and acerola cherry. These are all vitamin C dense super fruits with no synthetic ingredients, no binders, no fillers.
