Sunday, February 2, 2025, Pastor Ryp Hankins delivers an inspiring and thought-provoking message titled “Living Under the Fear of the Lord.” Before you watch, consider this question: Would you prefer to listen to a message that you WANT to hear or one that challenges you to reflect on what you truly NEED to hear? Do you recognize the difference? Understanding this question is the first step toward living under the fear of the Lord. If you are only interested in messages that affirm your current way of living, without reflecting on whether it aligns with God’s desires, it may indicate that you don’t fully grasp what it means to live under the fear of the Lord. Pastor Ryp offers a compelling explanation of what it means to live not in fear, but under the fear of God. So, take a moment to settle in and pay attention. Enjoy the worship and be ready to be challenged by the Word.

The old seeker-sensitive movement focused on attracting non-Christians to church, leading to weak gospel presentations, effeminate worship music, feel-good sermons, compromised cultural engagement, and little to no emphasis on robust doctrine. The new seeker-sensitive movement focuses on attracting non-whites to local churches, with its own set of negative consequences.
The Seeker Sensitive Movement is a philosophy or approach within Christianity that emphasizes making church services and environments more accessible and inviting to people who are not yet believers, often referred to as "seekers." The movement seeks to remove barriers that might prevent non-believers from feeling comfortable or welcome in church settings, with the goal of attracting them to explore the Christian faith. This movement is closely aligned with the Church Growth Movement and taught to revolutionize how church is conducted. In this video I will go over various aspects to include the history, examples, leaders, and compare to the Bible. I hope you enjoy it and if you like it please like share and subscribe. I hope this can help out people in their Christian walk of life and above all I hope this gives glory to God! (Some clips were used from multiple church YouTube channels and the church of tares documentary.)

But as the country began to expand westward on the frontier, revivalism began to take over what had been standard, theologically orthodox Protestantism. Men like Charles G. Finney would hold tent revivals with dazzling oratory and salesmanship to generate religious excitement and manipulate the emotions of the crowd to produce conversions. In this sermon we continue to unpack the story of the blind man healed by Jesus in John chapter 9. From the conclusion of this story, we are reminded of Christ's purpose to bring sight to those who are spiritually blind, and save those who are sincerely seeking Him. It is from these truths do we get a BIblical understanding of what it means to be a “seeker sensitive” church. Unlike modern day churches who use worldly tactics to attract the lost, we are reminded that what truly attracts the regenerated heart are the things of God, not the things of man.

The answer to this question is cultural and Biblical. How should the Church interact with believers especially non-believers when they enter the house of the Lord? Should the Church treat non-believers with kid gloves so that they will enter through the doors?. What style of worship should happen? What is the correct approach? After 50 years of well-intended but fallacious -Seeker Sensitive- evangelism, we have succeeded only in filling pews with -Almost Christians- -see Acts 26-28-. This means genuine believers must be discerning and wise as to with whom you fellowship. In today's text, Jesus models a stance of detach and contain when it comes to some professed believers.

The next 4 weeks we are re-releasing some of our favorite episodes. We hope you enjoy! In this episode of Theology Applied, Pastor Joel Webbon is joined by the hosts of the King's Hall Podcast (Brian Sauvé, Eric Conn, and Dan Berkholder) to discuss a list of 5 doctrines in order of most dangerous to least dangerous. Over the past 20-30 years or so, God sovereignly addressed several false doctrines that were not merely unbiblical, but heretical: Prosperity Gospel, Seeker-Sensitive, Roman Catholicism, & Liberal Theology (Open Theism, Process Theology, Etc). Our prediction is that over the next 20-30 years, God will sovereignly begin to address doctrines that are not necessarily heretical, but still unbiblical and dangerous. When it comes to worship, if we are primarily thinking about unbelievers, we are not primarily thinking about Christ. Our desire for unbelievers to attend worship to hear the gospel may sometimes get us into trouble in this way. Christians come to the table with many lenses and theological assumptions. Today, I am going to challenge a few.Today's episode will have some things you may or may not agree with. I am poking at some traditions in a way to challenge YOU and your thinking. The “Seeker-Sensitive” model is thoroughly unbiblical. In this clip, Pastor Joel describes how to be a true Christian preacher.
Nations that adhere to Christian principles are always blessed. Is it permissible for Christians to point out this evidence to unbelievers as an incentive for them to come to Christ? Or is this tactic just another form of “Seeker-Sensitive” evangelicalism?

Josh Daws it the host of the podcast “The Great Awokening.” Josh grew up in the church and was part of a church plant in North Hollywood after moving to California to pursue his career in filmmaking. In this episode he shares his reflections on seeker sensitive church planting and relational evangelism. We discuss the reason many Christians adopt a relational evangelism strategy and reasons to avoid it. We explore the challenge of ministering to people in our current cultural climate particularly in a secular workplace. Finally, we close out discussing the idea of “grooming” in public schools as it pertains to sexual identity in children. What does a seeker sensitive church prioritize? What is relational evangelism? What does it look like to be a faithful presence? Is that a failed model? Throughout history church has taken on a myriad of different looks. In the 50s church was about rules and ties and flat tops. In the 70's it was Maranatha music, long hair and flip-flops. In the 90s it was khakis and reaching the seeker. The church has had thousands of different style changes in it's 2000 year history but there are some things that God has called us to regardless of the century. God‘s plan is not based on haircuts or style changes. It is based on the grace and love of Jesus that has the power to transform. If you liked this podcast, please like, subscribe and/or SHARE.
