Between the many lawsuits of Donald Trump and Elon Musk, its hard to remember if there has ever been so much news regarding state or federal litigation. The Supreme Court unsurprisingly ruled that Colorado could not remove Donald Trump from the presidential ballot as we cannot have 50 states doing 50 different things in an otherwise very binary election. What people did not predict was a unanimous decision which also objected to reasoning that only Congress can address electoral college issues. Can the courts handle the massive onslaught of cases? Andy McCarthy, legal expert for National Review, joins Dan to break down the 9-0 decision by the United States Supreme Court to restore Donald Trump to the Colorado ballot and prevent any state from disqualifying a federal candidate for office in the future on the basis of its own interpretation of a Constitutional amendment or provision like the plaintiffs in this case cited Section 3 of the 14th amendment. Where there was some minor disagreement was on the basis a federal governing body like Congress had the ability to revisit Trump's status on their own at a later date, as Justice Amy Coney Barrett sided with the three liberal justices on a more narrow ruling regarding his potential eligibility and fate.

The US Supreme Court has struck down Colorado's move to bar Donald Trump from its presidential primary. Colorado's top court removed the former president from its ballot in December, citing the 14th Amendment, which bans insurrectionists from running for office. But Supreme Court justices were sceptical of the move at a hearing on the 8th of February, and accused the state of overstepping its authority. On Tuesday (NZ time), they decided Trump will remain on the ballot. It means Trump can run in the primary on Wednesday (NZ time), a day on which he could all but seal the Republican nomination. US Correspondent Simon Marks spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.

The justices scrutinized an obscure provision in the 14th Amendment at the center of this case.
