HousePlants are Paul Noonan and Daithi. They released their second album Half Known Things on October 18 and talk about its creation on this episode of the TPOE podcast. Buy Half Known Things: https://wearehouseplants.bandcamp.com/album/half-known-thingsh HousePlants tour dates: December 27: Roisin Dubh, Galway December 28: Cyprus Avenue, Cork January 11: Dolan's Warehouse, Limerick January 30, 31: Button Factory, Dublin Intro music: HousePlants - Swimming Pool Outro music: HousePlants - Hope is a Hell of a Drug --- Press release: HousePlants have built a reputation for their electrifying live performances, from festivals like All Together Now and Beyond the Pale, to opening slots for legends such as Chic and Leftfield. Their unique combination of energetic rhythms and heart-on-sleeve storytelling has earned them a loyal following. With Half Known Things, the band promises to deliver more of the vibrant, feel-good energy that has become their hallmark, while venturing deeper into sonic experimentation and live band dynamics. Paul Noonan reflects on the evolution from their debut: "This album was very much informed by playing shows with the first one, feeling what was connecting and creating those euphoric collective moments. With Dry Goods, we were sending each other parts from our respective bunkers. This time, we had the luxury of being in the same room for some of it and making decisions in the moment. Every decision, we asked, ‘Will it make the people move?' The result is an album full of heart, heat, and groove, with distorted textures and vibrant beats driving the music forward. From the album opener “In The Right Light” to the seven-minute opus “No Pushover,” Half Known Things pulses with life, capturing the raw, raucous energy of their live performances. Daithí shares his journey throughout the making of the album: "Half Known Things feels alive in a way I've never experienced before – we've tried to capture the wild energy of our live shows and bottle it into these nine tracks. It's music that's messy, human, and alive, which to me is the heart of what HousePlants is all about." Standout tracks include 'Swimming Pool', an upbeat anthem that captures the messy joy of life, and 'My Love My Umbrella', a haunting ballad that draws inspiration from Irish writer John McGahern's works. From start to finish, Half Known Things offers a sonic experience that is simultaneously introspective and celebratory, inviting listeners to lose themselves in the music, and most importantly, have fun.

Coillte, Ireland's semi-state forestry company and leading provider of outdoor recreation has announced an exciting new pilot programme in partnership with Irish start-up HiiKER, creators of an innovative hiking app. This initiative will offer a new and innovative way for local and visiting outdoor enthusiasts to experience Coillte forests by offering walkers and hikers real-time forest and walking trail insights before and during their visits. Launching this summer, the pilot programme will introduce advanced features to HiiKER's "Parks and Recreation" functionality. New enhancements include trail distances, accessibility reports and difficulty levels. Users will also benefit from real-time updates on trail busyness, parking availability, food options and toilet facilities. The HiiKer app will, for the first time, give visitors a real sense of the various activities available in Coillte's forests and improve the overall visitor experience. This new technology will be piloted in seven Coillte forests across the country including: Cruagh Woods, Ticknock, and Tibradden Woods in Dublin, as well as Donadea Forest Park in Kildare, Portumna Forest Park in Galway, Farran Forest Park in Cork and Dromore Forest in Kerry. Visitors to these forests will be the first to experience the enhanced capabilities offered by HiiKER. HiiKER, is an Irish start up founded by Paul Finlay in Co. Meath. The app has helped over 1 million hikers to plan and navigate their hiking adventures all around the world. The app curates the best hikes on the planet, along with important points of interest to help users to plan the perfect hike. Most importantly, it works with the most notable map developers and cartographers to bring a wealth of verified route information to the public. Coillte and HiiKER will pilot the technology over a six-month period, utilising Coillte's extensive expertise. The collaboration will yield valuable insights into forest and trail usage, allowing Coillte to make data-driven decisions to further enhance the visitor experience for all. Daithi de Forge, Head of Recreation at Coillte, said, "Coillte forests attract an average of 18 million visits annually, and we are delighted to partner with HiiKER on this pilot, which aims to enhance the walking and hiking experience across several of our beautiful forests. This innovative programme supports our commitment to enhancing the recreational, social, and well-being benefits of our forests and making them more accessible and enjoyable for all. "By integrating Coillte's extensive knowledge of the natural environment with HiiKER's cutting-edge technology, we aim to provide visitors with an enriched, informed and seamless experience when they visit our forests. Paul Finlay, HiiKER CEO added, "We are excited to join forces with Coillte to launch this innovative pilot programme that will transform the way people explore Ireland's forests. Our new HiiKER Parks and Recreation functionality and Coillte's extensive database of recreational maps and data, enables the public to explore Coillte forests like never before. We're encouraging everyone to download the app for free and start exploring these forests today." Download HiiKER from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store and search for one of the pilot forests.

All of the boys, and the boys particularly, love talking about potty stuff. Something we've come to realise is that your first doesn't notice it too much because they don't have siblings. They might interact with it a little bit at school, but it doesn't consume them, but then as you have more kids and they start to speak about it among themselves, it begins to gain momentum as you have more and more children. Our 5th kid just loves the sound of any word that has to do with potty talk, and he loves to pronounce it clearly and slowly. This sums it up 2:00Tricking them to say something else 6:50It's totally normal 9:00“We did a bunch of surprises. We didn't tell them where we were going first…and then we had certain surprises. The Wednesday surprise was going to Disneyland as a family, and Daithi said, I'm trying to remember the context, but it was something like ‘Paddy, get your diaper on because you're gonna crap your pants with joy.'” 2:00https://www.facebook.com/theirishmummy/https://www.instagram.com/the_irish_mummy/Pick up a copy of Journal to Joy. Dáithí Mac Gabhann ag fanacht 2,000 lá le croí nua. Dáithí Mac Gabhann, a seven-year-old boy from Belfast, has been waiting for a new heart for 2,000 days now. Is le 2,000 lá anois atá Dáithí Mac Gabhann, buachaill seacht mbliana d'aois as Béal Feirste, ag fanacht le croí nua. It is an unwanted milestone, but Dáíthí's father has seized the opportunity to draw public attention to his son's situation. Cloch mhíle nár theastaigh atá ann ach tá an deis tapaithe ag athair Dháithí le aird an phobail a tharraingt ar chás a mhic. It is not the first time that Dáíthí's case has been in the limelight. Ní hé an chéad uair é ag cás Dháithí a bheith faoi iomrá. In the beginning of the summer – as a result of a long campaign by his family – a new law was introduced in the North under which almost every adult who has died is now considered an organ donor. I dtús an tsamhraidh – de thoradh fheachtas fada a mhuintire – tugadh isteach dlí nua sa Tuaisceart faoin mbreathnaítear anois ar bheagnach gach duine fásta atá tar éis bháis mar dheontóir orgán. It is assumed that people would not mind their organs being used unless they had specifically indicated during their lifetime that they did not wish to donate them. Glactar leis nár mhiste le daoine go mbainfí leas as a gcuid orgán mura raibh sé tugtha le fios go sonrach acu agus iad ina mbeatha nár mhian leo iad a dheonú. The law was called 'Dlí Dáithí' in honor of the murderer. 'Dlí Dháithí' a tugadh ar an dlí in onóir an mhalraigh. A week after the law was implemented, however, the MacGiffin family were informed that doctors were no longer to be included among the people they were prioritizing. Seachtain i ndiaidh don dlí a bheith curtha i bhfeidhm, áfach, cuireadh in iúl do mhuintir Mhic Gabhann nach raibh dochtúirí le Dáithí a áireamh níos mó i measc na ndaoine a raibh siad ag tabhairt tús áite dóibh. Fortunately, he has since been given priority again but he has withdrawn from his family how things could change so suddenly. Ar ámharaí an tsaoil, tá tús áite tugtha dó an athuair ó shin ach bhain sé siar as a mhuintir an chaoi a bhféadfadh cúrsaí athrú chomh tobann. In fact, Máirtín MacGaffann said today that Dáithí will not live long if he does not find a new heart. Go deimhin, dúirt Máirtín Mac Gabhann inniu nach mairfidh Dáithí i bhfad mura bhfaighidh sé croí nua. Dáithí is in a stable condition at the moment but things can change at a moment's notice, he said. Tá bail sheasmhach ar Dháithí faoi láthair ach is feidir le cúrsaí athrú ar iompú boise, arsa sé. Despite the new law, Máirtín MacGaffann appealed to people to register as organ donors and to discuss the situation openly with others in order to improve public awareness of the issue. Ainneoin an dlí nua, d'achainigh Máirtín Mac Gabhann ar dhaoine clárú mar dheontóirí orgán agus an scéal a phlé go hoscailte le daoine eile d'fhonn feasacht an phobail trí chéile ar an gceist a fheabhsú. In addition to Dáíth, up to 150 people in the North are waiting for a new organ. Chomh maith le Dáithí, tá suas le 150 duine sa Tuaisceart ag fanacht le horgán nua. Last year, 96 people in the north received new organs from donors who had died. Anuraidh, fuair 96 duine ó thuaidh orgán nua ó dheontóirí a bhí básaithe. Unfortunately, around fifteen people are lost each year in the North while waiting for a new organ. Ar an drochuair, cailltear thart ar chúig dhuine dhéag gach bliain sa Tuaisceart agus iad ag fanacht le horgán nua. RTÉ News and Current Affairs Nuacht agus Cúrsaí Reatha RTÉ

Hair loss is an issue that affects a lot of men and it seems that more and more Irish men are seeking out a solution for it. Daithi O'Shea joins Andrea to tell her about his decision to get a hair transplant.
Today Adam and I wanted to discuss something that many people take for granted, including Adam, who used to really not make it a priority in his life, but now can see how important it is for progress. Our bodies are designed to react according to our situations and if we're constantly stressing ourselves out, everything will be off, such as our appetite or ability to sleep, and so on. Rosie's main tactic is making sure she gets enough rest to ease the pressure and stress in her life. You also need to feel good about yourself, or feel like you're presentable, and this can be done through exercise, nutrition, or taking care of your aesthetic side. Why we need to focus on self care 2:01Rosie's self care 6:45Use this technique for your own self care 10:28Naps 16:46Adam's list 18:39“If you've got somebody in your life that doesn't value self care as much as you do, the one thing that shifted for me, other than when our third child Daithi was born, and just literally the need. And I think that's where I saw it shift from having this misconception and this myth that taking care of yourself and looking out for yourself is luxury. I saw that it then became a basic need of life.” 20:09https://www.facebook.com/theirishmummy/https://www.instagram.com/the_irish_mummy/Pick up a copy of Journal to Joy. A new Irish dating show starts on Virgin Media tonight. Grá ar an Trá follows twelve singletons as they couple up, try to find love and learn the language, with the aim of being crowned the ‘Couple with the most Focail'.This morning, Irish heartthrob Daithi O Se gave Ray Foley a lesson in Irish love lingo.
We kick off this edition with Robert Schroeder's new release, ‘Into The Light', drifting away into dream worlds by letting yourself be beamed into other dimensions with space effects, mysterious spheres, deep strings and dreamy melodies. Erik Wollo returns with an assemblage of acoustic guitars. Erik says everything you hear is acoustic, with no synths used on the new album ‘Cloud Of Strings'. One musician who has graced our airwaves many times has been ELEON. His new album is a stunning atmospheric world of divine dimensions with guest musicians, including Grammy-nominated recording artist David Helpling. Polypores returns for his second album on the Din label with ‘Multizonal Mind scramble', a feast of modular textures and syncopated glitchy oscillators that swell and fade into strange sound worlds. On the female side, Lucy Claire produces a fusion of classical cinematic and world influences intertwined with bittersweet piano motifs. Now and again, we like to look back into the past, this time with Airsculpture's first album released in 1995, ‘Impossible Geometries'. In those days, this three-piece band's performances were 100% improvised, greatly influenced by Tangerine Dream of the 70s. In case you missed it, here's one of our favourite episodes from the series so far – my chat with Doireann Garrihy, first published in May 2021, this one's a lot of fun…What do Pippa O'Connor, Mary Lou McDonald, Maura Higgins, Roz Purcell, and Daithi O'Se have in common? Doireann Garrihy does a frighteningly good impression of all of them. If you follow Doireann on social media or watch The Doireann Project on RTE you'll know just how talented she is. So it is no surprise just how successful Doireann has become in such a short space of time. Doireann and I have such a laugh throughout this chat – we hear the impressions and the funny stories, but she also has a couple of more serious things to vent about, such as her increasingly love/hate relationship with social media and the impact of spending so much time online. And in a rare Primetime special, Miriam O'Callaghan puts a few of Doireann's characters through their paces. Exclusive comedy: In this week's sketch, which is exclusive to YOU as a fan of The Mario Rosenstock Podcast, Pat Kenny can't keep his cool anylonger after more than a year of talking to 'experts' about Covid. Enjoy!Mario Produced by Patrick Haughey, AudioBrand | www.audiobrand.ie See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Rosie just had our new baby this last week and we wanted to talk about how that went. She had some fear and anxiousness about this birth because of Ezra's birth. We set up a little pool in our home where Rosie was able to remain when giving birth, and then her midwife had her sit on the toilet to help open things up for the baby. From there, she was able to get in the pool, stand up, and deliver the baby almost right after getting in. We were all pretty shocked the baby came so fast at that point, but Rosie was very relieved that things went so smoothly. “If it doesn't get to happen and you just went to hospital, like I did with Daithi, that's great too because you're already much more prepared than you would be without it.” 26:36Getting ready for Elijah's birth 2:17The massage technique and birth 9:55The second wave, or the placenta 16:45Things happened so fast 19:31“It was like going to the movies and the lights came on and you were told to leave after the trailers had finished. The movie hadn't even started and you're like, ‘Hey it's finished!' I spent more time filling the pool than you were having contractions for nearly.” 18:48https://www.theirishmummy.com/journal-to-joy/https://www.facebook.com/theirishmummy/https://www.instagram.com/the_irish_mummy/https://www.theirishmummy.com
We feel the importance of this topic because of how much it has benefited our lives as parents and we haven't thought of it as a podcast until this week, which now it is very relevant. Rosie had a conversation with another lady about prayer and angels, which was brought up because of a concerning dream she had about one of our kids drowning. She learned you can call upon angels directly for guidance and protection and with that will come relief and a sense of peace. Adam had an amazing experience while playing with the kids in the pool and suddenly looked to the side directly where our son, Daithi, fell in, and then Adam was able to save him from drowning. For guardian angels or angels to help us, we have to ask for their help.” 4:16https://www.facebook.com/theirishmummy/https://www.instagram.com/the_irish_mummy/https://www.theirishmummy.com
HousePlants aka Daithi and Paul Noonan released their debut album Dry Goods in September. Made in lockdown, it offered respite, hope, and fun to the pair, as they created a record that works on a Saturday night or during your midweek downtime. This interview was recorded at It Takes a Village festival in Trabolgan, where HousePlants were playing their third ever gig together. They killed it, obviously. We discuss childhood memories of Trabolgan, how the collaboration started and developed, artist retreats, writing, and what's next for HousePlants

Join me for My Chat with Daithi O'Connell from WD O'Connell Independent Bottlers. Daithi started his one man band in 2019 and has proven to be a massive hit with his sourced releases so far. He can take some credit in the recent resurgence of Irish peated whiskey offerings through the popularity of his Bill Phil range. He joined me on Zoom for a chat and we did end up going on a bit, but only because we were having such craic. What do Pippa O'Connor, Mary Lou McDonald, Maura Higgins, Roz Purcell, and Daithi O'Se have in common? Doireann Garrihy does a frighteningly good impression of all of them. If you follow Doireann on social media or watch The Doireann Project on RTE you'll know just how talented she is. So it is no surprise just how successful Doireann has become in such a short space of time. Whether or not to enter the lab is a common career decision for surgical residents, either for fellowship or professional development opportunities. Unlike other medical disciplines, surgery is the only discipline where lab years are performed in between clinical years, typically after PGY 2 or 3. We begin a two-part episode on the role of the surgical scientist to gain insight into the decision making process of entering the lab as a resident, the resources available to novice researchers, and how to ultimately balance a research career with clinical practice as well as family life. We kick off part 1 with Dr Daithi Heffernan, MD, one of our Trauma, Critical Care Surgeons here at Brown who also maintains a productive research lab focusing on INKT cells in sepsis.

The first episode of my podcast, The Old Man, where I chat to Irish Dads and find out how they find fatherhood, life, getting older and more. First up, the greatest living Kerry man and all round nice guy, Daithi O'Se. You won't believe what his mother used to put on his pizza.
I CAN'T COPE WITH HOW GREAT STEFANIE IS! GEDDIT!?I also can't cope with how bad the sound is this week and it's all my fault! There is a lot of background noise in this episode when I'm talking to Stefanie so apologies. I did my best to improve it but I'll have to file this one into the 'live and learn' category. Sorry if it's more difficult to listen to as a result! With that said...hello! Well the biggest news of the last week for me was....that THE PODCAST WAS MENTIONED ON THE TODAY SHOW WITH MAURA AND DAITHI. Be still my heart. Big thanks to @triona.ie for including me on her list of recommendations for the week. I felt like JLo. PLUS, I asked Daithi (first name terms now) if he'd do the p'cast and he said he would so let's hope it works out! Bit. of. fun. Riiiight? But first, this week's episode. My guest this episode needs no introduction having achieved huge success on stage and screen in Ireland. Stefanie Preissner is a writer in huge demand so it was a pleasure to spend some time with her and see how she ticks. She wanted to a Garda in her youth but thank GARDA she didn't (where's my prize). Had she spent her days policing people drinking cans of Dutch Gold in fields at the back of Centras or wire tapping her colleagues, we would have been denied great works such as Solpadeine is my Boyfriend, Can't Cope, Won't Cope or experience her GIF-fy reactions on RTE's Cutting Edge.So unhook your bra, or put one on, make some tea and enjoy my chat with Ms. Stefanie Preissner.NEW EPISODES EVERY TUESDAY so subscribe and you won't miss out mates.YOU'RE DOING GREAT!E.xNow, why not treat yourself and follow me on Twitter: twitter.com/estheromd?lang=en I'M A FUNNY WOMAN!Instagram: www.instagram.com/80percentpodcast/Website: estheromd.com/Email: 80percentpodcast@gmail.comSnapchat: estheromd I never Snapchat.
