We've got a cracking Listener Prescription special for you, and let us tell you, it's a real corker. You wouldn't believe the range of questions we receive, and this week's episode of On the Scent podcast really showcases the breadth of the people and feelings, places and personas that fragrance can conjure. From scenting an Irish adventure and matching the weather, to choosing a fragrance to wear for a loved one's funeral, and even creating a whole new perfume persona for reinvention – our listeners never fail to surprise us with their diverse and deeply touching requests. We're diving deep into how fragrance can comfort us during difficult times, enhance travel experiences, and even help us embody our most fabulous selves. It's a rollercoaster of emotions and scents, and we can't wait for you to join us on this olfactory journey. So, pop in those earbuds and let us guide you through our suggestions – and let us know any scents that spring to mind in answer, too! Here are the questions we answer & scents we suggest: For Ashley: @cloonkeen Báinín - Meaning 'little white', evokes the softness of ivory wool, embodying innocence and plushness in a timeless garment. A delightful blend of freshness and warmth, it carries hints of coastal gorse, dewy herbs, and petrichor after a cloudburst. (Named after the homespun wool used in Aran jumpers and tweed jackets worn by Irish fishermen for generations). @cloonkeen Roísín Dubh – A mystical Irish rose, Róisín Dubh blends Damascena rose with dry paper and inky patchouli. The scent deepens into smoky incense, black pepper and tobacco absolute, creating a brooding base.Named after a rebellious 16th-century song, Róisín Dubh has become a cherished symbol for Irish writers. @cloonkeen Castaña – A delectable haze of singed yet creamy chestnuts and golden caramel unfolds into a voluptuous blend of Haïtian vetiver, cardamom, and red pepper.Enriched by delicate cassia absolute and lush jasmine blossoms, it's a masterpiece. @laboratorioolfattivo Nun – Nun evokes the primordial waters of Ancient Egypt, symbolising rebirth and the Sun God. Waves of citrus and pear wash to a surging, luminous heart of lotus, jasmine, and ylang-ylang, worshipped by a woody, musky base. @memo.paris Irish Leather – Irish Leather blends a leather accord with the fresh essence of juniper berries and bitingly green mate. Featuring a fizz of pink pepper, herbaceous clary sage, iris & tonka on a smoked amber base, it pays homage to the Irish roots of Memo Paris' co-founder. @perfumerhlondon Rainwood – Capturing the essence of the (okay, Scottish) Highlands with grounded beauty, snapped stalks of galbanum and elemi coalesce with clean pepper and droplets of myrrh; all grounded by wet, woody juniper and cedar and patchouli leaves. For Becca Monet: Pocket-sized, calming and strengthening roll-on scents for wellbeing from @aromatherapyassociates, @neomwellbeing, @tisseranduk, or @marksandspencer. For Hannah (& ‘Glory Magnolia'!): @jovoymayfair @jovoyparis Psychédélique – A groovy time capsule, this scent struts its stuff with the swagger of a '70s rock god. Patchouli takes centre stage, belting out woody notes with the gusto of a Woodstock headliner. It's the olfactory equivalent of a vintage vinyl, crackling with retro charm and rebellious...
Local Gardaí are being praised by the owner of an animal sanctuary, after coming to her rescue. Last week's icy and snowy conditions created problems for Dr. Rhona Lucas, owner of An Cat Dubh animal sanctuary at Cloonlaheen. Rhona found herself snowbound, and in urgent need of supplies for her animals. This is where Gardaí at Ennistymon stepped in to save the day! [English version below] Seo scéal a thugann radharc dúinn ar Cholm Cille an duine, duine a raibh a chuid laigí féin aige agus a raibh constaicí go leor le sárú aige. Tumtar sinn i saol éiginnte an séú haois, tráth a raibh athruithe móra ag teacht ar shaol na ndaoine; tráth a raibh ríthe uaillmhianacha in adharca a chéile; tráth a raibh seansaol na págántachta ag géilleadh don Chríostaíocht. An Naomh a Dhuiniú seachas an Duine a Naomhú Insíonn Flaitheas scéal an duine atá ag iarraidh ciall a bhaint as an saol corrach, scéal an duine ag streachailt leis an gcinniúint, scéal an duine a dhéanann botúin ach atá ar a dhícheall an rud ceart a dhéanamh dó féin agus do na daoine thart air. Scéal gach duine againn. A glimpse of Colmcille the person Flaitheas is a story that gives us a glimpse of the human Colmcille, a person who had his own weaknesses and had many obstacles to overcome. The story of each one of us Flaitheas tells the story of a person who is trying to make sense of changes in his life, the story of a person struggling with fate, the story of a person who makes mistakes but tries his best to do the right thing for himself and for the people around him. The story of each of us. Presenter: Seán Ó Catháin Guests: Gráinne Ní Ghilín and Dubhán Ó Longáin

We've been enthralled by sumptuous new launches from @amouage & @guerlain (and even got to spend some precious time together at one of the events!) From those reviews in full, we also discuss an exciting @xerjoff project Suzy's been involved with, a stunning new @maisoncrivelli oud, and an exclusive @montale fragrance for @harrods anniversary. There's also a review of the debut @stevemadden scent - one of the best (and affordably priced!) new sandalwoods Suzy's tried in a long time. PLUS, we answer your questions about a discontinued wedding perfume, and another listener who's looking for an evening rose (now he's back on the dating scene) that feels intriguing and less ‘obvious' than many male-orientated fragrances he's tried.Phew! We discuss…@amouage Guidance 46(Nicola also fell madly for the previously launched Amouage Search after @persolaise suggested she sniffed it!) @guerlain L'Art & La Matiére Patchouli Paris by @delphinejelk@maisoncrivelli Oud Cadenza @stevemadden Goldie @xerjoff Deified in collaboration with @tonyiommi @montale Rendez-vous chez Harrods.#listenerprescriptions@ghost Orb of Night @dior Fève Délicieuse @newnotesparfums Latte di Cherry @sanajardin Incense Water @etro ManRose@cloonkeen Róisín Dubh@theharmonist Hypnotising Fire

1979 veröffentlichten Thin Lizzy ihr Album "Black Rose: A Rock Legend". Do Anything You Want To". Singer-songwriter Niamh Bury released her debut solo album Yellow Roses on March 29 via Claddagh Records. Produced by Brían Mac Gloinn (Ye Vagabonds), it features Caimin Gilmore and Kate Ellis (Crash Ensemble) and Ryan Hargodan (Rachael Lavelle), but it is Bury's amazing voice that stands out as she weaves tales about travel, mysticism, and domesticity, with a theme of female empowerment coming through, particularly when she sings of her mother on one song and her grandmother on the title track. Comprising nine original tracks and one interpretation of an older song ('Lovely Adam'), Niamh Bury talks through Yellow Roses on this episode of the TPOE podcast. Niamh Bury tour dates: April 12: American Bar, Belfast April 21: Róisín Dubh, Galway April 24: Upstairs at Dolan's, Limerick April 25: Cleere's, Kilkenny April 26: Winthrop Avenue, Cork April 28: Whelan's, Dublin Buy Yellow Roses: https://www.niamhbury.com/

Welcome back to the Candlelit Tales podcast. In this series, we're telling seasonal tales of Irish folklore in the run up to the Celtic New Year, Samhain. This is a story that has inspired many retellings of headless horsemen throughout the world, a spirit linked with the pagan chieftain Crom Dubh, who some believe was linked to the autumn harvest. The Dullahan is famously difficult to thwart, riding down its victims and able to pass through any door or barrier. Please note the content of these stories may be triggering for some listeners, please take care of yourself as you listen. This podcast contains elements of body horror, the experience of being hunted, and death. Welcome back to the Candlelit Tales podcast, where we are pausing in our current series to bring you a special guest podcast. We were delighted to collaborate with Aindrias de Staic on our latest tour, performing a live show with him in The Pavillion, Lisdoonvarna. Aindrias is a storyteller and musician who performs in Irish and English. He's a fiddle player and seanachaí from the west coast of Ireland and has been performing for over two decades. Aron first saw Aindrias at a festival where he was playing with the Lachichos, a three-piece band that blends great tunes, with romping stories and folktales of Aindrias's creation. We have performed together only once before, in Dublin in 2019 but that was without Sorcha. So this was the first time the three of us told stories together, and we were accompanied by Alan Homan on guitar as Aindrias opened the night and played along with Alan as he listened to us tell the Battle of Ventry. We gave him the story of Mis and Dub Ris and he gave us a lovely Bealtaine story to tell again. We caught up on the last episode, and for this episode, we had the pleasure of playing some tunes and hearing him tell us this story. You can find Aindrias online at www.aindrias.com and on Instagram @smalltownsheanachai This podcast is proudly sponsored by the people who donate to us each month via https://www.patreon.com/candlelittales and anyone who sends us a once-off donation through the Paypal button on our website http://candlelittales.ie/ Please note the content of these stories may be triggering for some listeners, please take care of yourself as you listen. #candlelittales t#candlelittalespodcast #keepherlit #keephercandlelit #storytelling #livemusic #mythology #irishmythology #patreon #thankyou #subscribe #youtube #spotify #amazon https://www.youtube.com/c/CandlelitTales https://open.spotify.com/show/2102WuUUe9Jl6cGXNwQEKf https://soundcloud.com/candlelittales https://twitter.com/candlelit_tales?lang=en https://www.facebook.com/candlelittales https://www.instagram.com/candlelittales https://vimeo.com/user52850249 https://music.amazon.co.uk/podcasts/00d5c29b-ee1a-4078-aacf-62e1a94522dc/candlelit-tales-irish-mythology-podcast

Welcome back to the Candlelit Tales Podcast, and back to this Series on Mythic Places. In this series, we're taking a look at some of the most iconic locations in Ireland, and the stories and myths attached to them. In this episode, we are in Kerry and the Sliabh Mis mountains. In this story, these mountains were named after a fearsome beast that roamed them, killing all trespassers. But the beast had her own story, and a truly brave man was able to face her and bring her home. BUY SELCOUTH BY MARC GUNN My latest CD features Sci F'Irish music. That means it is original songs fusing pop culture themes with Irish drinking songs. There are some traditional music on the album. But mostly, it features songwriting by Marc Gunn with guests including: Screeched Inn, The Muckers, Jamie Haeuser, Sam Gillogly, Nathan Deese, and Mikey Mason. Selcouth means, “when everything is strange and different, yet you find it marvelous anyway.” The album is not completely Celtic and it's not just science fiction and fantasy. It's a fusion of the two. It's heartfelt and a lot of fun. It's now on sale in my Bandcamp store. Check out Selcouth now. THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST! Beautiful sunny (but cold), listening to episode 548 - very nice" Michael R. Gorman emailed: "Marc, I hope this email does not come across as too strange, but before about 45 minutes ago, I had never heard of you. I was searching Pandora for some traditional Celtic music to play as a background to a personal spring/renewal ritual I felt compelled to do on this cool California night. When I happened upon your Podcast #196, I immediately knew I had my background music. I thought your talking would be a distraction, but it was not at all, like an extension of the music of the ancestors. I won't go into detail about my ritual tonight, other than to say this ritual marks the end of a very long period of trial and pain in one of my life's dark valleys, but the thing about valleys is that there are always the hills beyond to climb if you can just keep walking. I did, and tonight is like a new birth from the cauldron of the Cailleach. I have not cut my hair in ten years until tonight (by no means short, but shorter), a show of faith in renewed growth, and to offer a red - blonde lock as tribute to the ancestors. I don't know much about you or what your spirituality may be, but I felt the need to thank you for being with me on this small milestone in my journey. I look forward to getting to know you better through your work. And thank you. Blessings of the Tuatha de,”
