This is a 30-minute Slow Flow. This class features meditative, symmetrical sequencing in a format that is designed to relax and restore. As the holidays approach and the to-do list seems to grow ever longer, this class invites you to take a much-needed, healing pause. After a decadently slow, reclined start, we move onto rounds of Moon Salutations and a short Crescent-Moon section. This is a 40-minute Slow Flow. If you are looking for a decadent pause from everything that draws you away from your center, this class is for you. In this class, slow and mindful asana are combined with breath for a profoundly grounding and calming experience. We wake up the spine, the sides of the body, the hips, then move into three modified Sun Salutations. A modified standing series invites you to experience familiar postures in a new way. Lastly, we finish with restorative reclined postures. Viparita kirani against the wall is offered along with hands-free nadi shodhana pranayama. Slow flow is a mix of Hatha yoga (static poses) and Vinyasa (linking movement with breath). The pace is meditative, emphasizing peace and calm in body and mind. We hold poses longer, taking several rounds of breath in each pose, instead of moving to each breath. The inclusion of grounded postures and slower movements allow students to build confidence and familiarity. Longer holds in standing and balancing postures offer the opportunity to refine the fundamentals and explore deeper sensations over time. This class is good for any level of student.
