Video games have evolved from the pixilated images of Pac Man and Donkey Kong to the cinematic and artistic wonders we see today. Horror remains a popular category in these games and their stories represent a fertile ground to harvest films of terror. Jerry & Matt look at two examples of using this resource with Resident Evil- Apocalypse from 2004 and Silent Hill from 2006.

You want a podcast? I'll give you a podcast! It's been years but we are finally getting back to the residences full of evil and we watched what was always my favorite film in the series! Will that change? There are only three Hustlers left this week, Anita, Chris and myself. We don't know where PJ is. If you can't tell from reading this summary, I am a huge RE nerd and I definitely had some complaints that most likely annoyed my co-hosts. I have multiple childhood stories I told about this film and my love of a certain character here, Chris and Anita show love to the Tarzan soundtrack and Anita is dumbfounded when we compare an explosion in this film to explosions from Double Team and Indiana Jones 4. With all that said, listeners, here is the podcast. It might come in handy if you, the masters of podcast listening, take it with you. After a short break, we are back to VGMH! And who better to welcome us back than Milla Jovovich and her apparently very horny husband Paul W.S. Anderson with the second (of 6!) Resident Evil movies! We had fun with this one too, but it doesn't quite match the campiness of the original and takes itself a tad too seriously. Still, a good ole scarifying hoot! Welcome to Video Game Movie Hell! Nirav, Jess, and Felicia are watching every video game movie ever made in chronological order (really). Look for our reactions/reviews every other week on Tuesday on YouTube and in your local podcatcher! If you have Apple Podcasts you can watch along through the app, and if you have Spotify you can watch along either through the app or the web player (both free). Or watch on Google Drive (very free) or YouTube (for an edited version). Find it all here: https://linktr.ee/gamebusterspod !

On the outskirts of Racoon City, a woman awakens with amnesia in a strange mansion. As she explores the residence, it is invaded by an elite strike team. They tell her that she is Umbrella Security, was there to guard the secret entrance to the Hive, an underground research facility that has gone dark, and Umbrella wants answers. Listen in as Erin & Gary are joined by author, podcaster, blogger, and musician Keith R.A. DeCandido to discuss this wild series of video game adjacent movies, how novelizations work & the struggle of translating mediums, the divergences between the games & the movies, how the films & Alice evolved over the series, the scene that sets off Gary & Erin, Paul W. S. Anderson's Bay aspirations, the influence of Alien on the series, the characters that did (and did not) make it from the games to the movies, Erin's love of the zombie dogs, Keith's least favorite tropes, and smooth zombies. Three of the guys for alittle discuss the film “Resident Evil Apocalypse”.
A digital Red Queen, glimpse of white rabbits, what could be seen as zombified "cards," and an amnesia-afflicted girl named Alice... Who knew Resident Evil (2002) could be seen as the action-horror remix of a beloved fairytale? We discuss this and more in our 70th(!) episode, like what sets Resident Evil apart from other video-game adaptations, the icon that is Michelle Rodriguez, understanding the complexities of the story as an adult and what one Karl Marx might think of Alice's adventure down in the Hive if he gave the movie a watch. Tony and Kieran get together to talk about the extremely disappointing sequel to the first Resident Evil Movie. In this movie review/podcast they will talk about all the things that are awful in this movie. Like the horrible action scenes, the choppy editing, and the major letdown that was Nemesis.A deadly virus from a secret Umbrella Corporation laboratory underneath Raccoon City is exposed to the world. Umbrella seals off the city to contain the virus, creating a ghost town where everyone trapped inside turns into a mutant zombie. Alice (Milla Jovovich), a survivor from Umbrella's secret lab, meets former Umbrella security officer Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory) and mercenary Carlos Oliviera (Oded Fehr). Together, they search for a scientist (Jared Harris) who might be able to help.
