On today's episode of The Classi Ladi Corner podcast, your host Stephanie sits down and sips with Ciara Arrington of Never Drnk Alone. Ciara is a registered bartender and self-appointed Liquid Therapist who started her business in Houston, Texas, because she was laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The idea of Never Drnk Alone came to her in a dream and she threw herself into creating beautiful, delicious cocktails and teaching others how to make cocktails with ingredients and equipment available at home. She also offers a service as a virtual drinking buddy, where she drinks online with anyone who wants to, offering them a chance to open up to her whilst sipping on a refreshing cocktail.Ciara walks Stephanie through some of the equipment you need for great homemade cocktails, and explains what you can use instead if you don't have that equipment to hand, so get ready to get creative in your kitchen! She also gives her recipe for a simple sugar syrup which you can use to elevate a basic three-ingredient cocktail into something really special.Next, the ladies sit down and make two delicious cocktails together, with step-by-step instructions that you can follow along at home. Ciara outlines two cocktail making techniques, layering and muddling, that you can use to kick any drink up a notch. The two cocktails Ciara and Stephanie make use the same base ingredients in different ways, making two unique and delicious beverages. As they sip on their homemade cocktails, Ciara also shares some other great insider bartender knowledge, such as the difference between prosecco and champagne. This episode is essential listening for anyone who enjoys unwinding with a drink at the end of the day, or for someone who feels stuck in a drinks rut and wants to learn how to elevate their cocktail game.Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour. Earlier this month, Yao Family Wines in Napa became the first winery in history to release a wine online with an NFT (a non-fungible token). Will this revolutionary new way of releasing and marketing wine be the wave of the future? Are blockchain and cryptocurrency the next step for serious wine collectors? This week, I sit down with Yao Family’s Director of Marketing, Bill Sanders, to talk about how NFTs and the blockchain may not only mean the end of counterfeit wines, but be the beginning of an entirely new way of buying, selling and collecting wine. The incredible DRNK Chardonnay I sip on this episode will be available April 24th through The Wine Spies. Show Notes Episode 309: Cult of Personality Test Pt 2 of Why Do You Believe This Crap? This week Host Dave Bledsoe administers a Bledsoe Booze Type Indicator and discovers his personality type is a DRNK, which is frighteningly accurate (And also entirely obvious.) On the show this week we continue with Part Two of Why Do You Believe this Crap with Myers Briggs. (This shouldn't cost us listeners at ALL!) Along the way we learn about that time someone tried to kill Dave! (Surprisingly, NOT someone he was dating!) Then we dive right into the history of the most popular personality test of them all, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator! From its beginning as some bullshit Carl Jung was going on about to it's creation by a Jung obsessed mystery novelist and her daughter in their kitchen! (Notice no mention was made of training in psychology!) From there we go on to see how this test is used in everything from feeling good nonsense to making sure you don't accidentally hire a job candidate who isn't white, male and neuro-typical! Take your science and toss it out the window, because it is so much more FUN to be told how awesome you are by a “unbiased” test! Our Sponsor this week is Big Leon's Personality Sorter. Big Leon knows people and if you pay him, he will tell you what he knows. We open the show with just a few questions about your feelings and close with Brass Against who have made some observations about personality. The dudes from Drnk Cltr podcast (https://www.drnkcltr.com/podcast/) stop by to hang out with us and chat about small business shenanigans. We get the inside info on how they started their podcast and soon we found ourselves in a very spirited debate about the role of the owner (podcast/brewery/gym) and how important it is to give their stories to their listeners/customers. This was a really fun episode to record and even though we didn't get to most of the silly pop culture talk our listeners have grown to expect from us, I think this is a great conversation with several different opinions for anyone interested in starting a business to listen to. Plus we don't swear as much as usual. You're welcome, mom.
