Alberto Dellacroce"Start.

Picky eating has always been a tricky challenge for parents, but did you know it's been getting worse in the last few decades and particularly since the stress of the pandemic?Parents are frustrated and not sure what to do, partly because the root cause of picky eating is often not even in the food itself.I've been teaching kids to cook for eight years and realized that what parents need most isn't the cooking (at least they don't think they do), but the eating part. I started using my background as an elementary educator and mom of 4 to tackle the picky eating problem, and people had a lot of success with my suggestions. Then I was trained a few years ago by an incredible picky eating expert, Dr. Kay Toomey, and I learned even more, especially about root causes. How do we get intentional about the way we give (and even receive) our gifts as we get closer to the holiday season? Today I'm talking about this topic with Rachael Classi, founder and CEO of Tiny Earth Toys. Rachael shares about Tiny Earth's toy rental subscription which is a great way to get intentional about what's under our trees, but we also talk about our own experiences with gift exchanges with extended family, the struggle of worrying our kids will disappointed when our gifts under the tree align with our values (aka, there's not a ton of them), and how we've tried new things and chosen to be more intentional throughout the years. I hope you come out of this episode with new ideas for gift giving in a way that won't stress you out and will align with your values this holiday season. You can also grab a copy of Your Intentional Holidays to help you out with planning this aspect of the holidays, among with making the entire season more intentional. I think we've all seen some challenges, and not just with the pandemic. But we made it through, and 2022 for me is gonna be all about freedom. The freedom to do what I like, when I like, and to not let other people's thoughts bother me. I'm not gonna pretend to be something I'm not!! I'd also love to see some real support within my community, especially the Black community. In my grandparents' time, people used to show up for each other and help each other out, but that's not something that we see so much today. Just think how much of a change you could bring to our community and to someone's life if you started supporting small Black-owned businesses as much as you supported businesses owned and promoted by celebrities! On today's episode of The Classi Ladi Corner podcast, I talk with Dr Cassandre Dunbar of the award-winning ‘Be Well Sis' podcast which empowers Black women to take care of themselves physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We get real and talk about self-care for everyone, but particularly for Black women. Cassandre explains to me how Black women are socialized from a young age to accommodate others and to find a way to make everything happen for other people. But, as Cassandre explains, when you're running at full capacity, a yes to someone else is a no to yourself. It's time to give yourself some time and love!Cassandre and I begin by talking about what self-care is and why it's so important. Self-care is different for all of us, but it means taking care of yourself and your needs. If you're a busy mom, wife, daughter, sister, employee, business woman or student, it can be hard to put yourself at the center of your world and to start to let some responsibilities go. But by doing this, you're taking care of yourself and modeling good, healthy behavior for those around you. And doing all this is not selfish! It's self-care, not self-ish. Cassandre then lays out some tips on how you can build self-care into your routine, to make healthy, sustainable habits, so listen in to find out how you can begin to work some self-care magic into your day. A lot of these tips are simple and straightforward, so that you can take baby steps towards a better, healthier, happier you. We also cover a ton of other fun topics in this episode, from going to therapy to the importance of laughter for getting through those tough times. Please share this episode with anyone in your life who could do with a reminder of the importance of self-care! Timestamps[01:03] Dr Cassandre Dunbar introduces herself[01:54] Where did the ‘Be Well Sis' podcast come from?[03:58] As women, we give to others[05:30] Making self-care a part of your routine[07:23] What is self-care? [10:50] The importance of going to therapy[14:05] What are the benefits of self-care, especially for Black women? [15:45] Self-care by saying no[19:40] Taking care of yourself is selfish, right? On today's episode of The Classi Ladi Corner podcast, I sit down and get real about one of the hardest things about being a woman: that invisible expiration date that's hanging above your head. It's there in our dating lives, it's there in our careers, it's there in how other people perceive us, and we bake it into our perception of ourselves. It's the reason why we pay our hard-earned dollars on painful, dangerous procedures to try to stay looking fresh. I say no more! Why do we put ourselves through this?I give you my thoughts on aging, which is that we should embrace it and get rid of that mental pressure that we put on ourselves. It ain't easy, and it's something that I'm still working on, but it begins with accepting ourselves at every age that we are. We've been through some things, we've suffered a little bit, we've fallen down and had to pick ourselves up again, but everything that we've experienced has shaped us into who we are. Don't allow the pressure of society to throw away your experience, your wisdom and your judgment. You shouldn't hide your best qualities just because someone else doesn't value them. We don't exist just to have babies and serve others. We can live our lives for ourselves and there's no date limit by when we have to achieve that.So embrace yourself, love your natural age, take care of yourself and don't forget to subscribe to The Classi Ladi Corner and share this episode with someone you know who needs to hear this message.LinksThe Classi Ladi Corner InstagramThe Classi Ladi Corner TwitterThe Classi Ladi Corner YouTube channel The Classi Ladi Corner websiteAllswell - Your Dream Bed Starts Here Free delivery on your first order over $35.Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. On today's episode of The Classi Ladi Corner podcast, your host Stephanie sits down and sips with Ciara Arrington of Never Drnk Alone. Ciara is a registered bartender and self-appointed Liquid Therapist who started her business in Houston, Texas, because she was laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The idea of Never Drnk Alone came to her in a dream and she threw herself into creating beautiful, delicious cocktails and teaching others how to make cocktails with ingredients and equipment available at home. She also offers a service as a virtual drinking buddy, where she drinks online with anyone who wants to, offering them a chance to open up to her whilst sipping on a refreshing cocktail.Ciara walks Stephanie through some of the equipment you need for great homemade cocktails, and explains what you can use instead if you don't have that equipment to hand, so get ready to get creative in your kitchen! She also gives her recipe for a simple sugar syrup which you can use to elevate a basic three-ingredient cocktail into something really special.Next, the ladies sit down and make two delicious cocktails together, with step-by-step instructions that you can follow along at home. Ciara outlines two cocktail making techniques, layering and muddling, that you can use to kick any drink up a notch. The two cocktails Ciara and Stephanie make use the same base ingredients in different ways, making two unique and delicious beverages. As they sip on their homemade cocktails, Ciara also shares some other great insider bartender knowledge, such as the difference between prosecco and champagne. This episode is essential listening for anyone who enjoys unwinding with a drink at the end of the day, or for someone who feels stuck in a drinks rut and wants to learn how to elevate their cocktail game.Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour.
