It's time to be honest with each other and the world: Derek and Jason take turns roasting (or just honestly reviewing) the other's cars in their collections. Plus, they roast their own stuff. We'll cover the good and the bad of nearly all of the boys' various vehicles: Derek's bikes – the Ducati Panigale V4S and Husqvarna 701 Supermoto. Jason's E30s – the 325i wagon and beater sedan track car. The mid-engine Italian exotics – Derek's Lamborghini Miura and Jason's 1975 Ferrari 308 GT4. Then, Jason's mid-engine micro machine 1991 Honda Beat. Naturally, a plethora of Mercedes products will be in the mix – the R129 500SL, W201 190E 2.3-16, W124 E320 wagon and W202 C43. The atypical oddballs: the Rover SD1 and Citroen CX. Plus Jason's new-to-him V12 E31 BMW 850 CSi and Derek's favorite back-road weapon 964-chassis Porsche 911. And we'll round things out with Jason's babies – the VW Scirocco and Mk1 Cabriolet. You'll learn about the Rover SD1's sketchy, outdated front suspension design, and the 190E's oversized steering wheel and underbolstered seats. The corpulent hamster styling of the e-Golf and terrible brake balancing on the Beat. The 964 sounds like flatulence, and the VW Cabriolet sounds like imminent disintegration. Recaro-equipped, art deco, cheap, and Zebra-print interiors. Sloppy shifters, burning odors, affordable V12 Ferraris and BMWs, and the Mk1 VWs' good vibrations versus the E30 M3's shit ones. The E30 M3 road car set the benchmark for performance saloon cars since its release in 1986. It is a car that exists primarily thanks to motorsport homologation rules for the DTM series in the 1980s. But thanks to its unique styling, sensational power-to-weight ratio and practicalities of being an everyday car, the E30 M3 set the trend for BMW and other marques and still does to this day as the ultimate performance saloon. Fast forward 30 years, and Army Officer Simon Lord decided the Humble E30 M3 could be far better than BMW created, so Redux was born.In this week's Podcast, Simon Lord joins John Marcar to talk about his transition from Army Officer to a civilian creator, engineer and perfectionist-developer of the £330,000 Redux M3.From its beginning, the conversation turns unexpectedly, focusing on Simon's mindset in starting his business following a long stint in the armed forces. Part 2/2 of the conversation will come next week, where we will learn about the final product's creation and the price justification. In the meantime, to learn more about Reduc, follow @reduxleichtbau and visit www.reduxleichtbau.comThe Driven Chat podcast is brought to you by Paramex Digital. My friends, welcome to session number fifty-three of Motor Culture. This is a long awaited session as timing just wouldn't line up but the golden evening finally arrived. Andy & Dorian of the New York based BMW EU spec sales specialist, German Motor Group join me for not only an enlightening chat but an entertaining one. These guys are leading the charge in the niche expertise of BMW importing from the homeland. With models imported from Germany such as S38 powered E34 M5 touring(s), E36 M3 GT, E30 M3, E30 Z1, & holy fuck- an E61 M5. They even have a couple of E46 M3 CSLs in bound. It's an easy call to say they aren't fucking around by any measure. These guys are so sickly addicted to bringing homeland native BMWs to the states that they were even kicked back in one of their E34 M5s while chatting with me lmao. Both of them are so well educated in the game and in the spirit of what this all means to people, starting with themselves. Self spawning inspiration to me is the highest level of the category. Chasing dreams allowed them to experience their dream cars, now on a daily basis at that. In addition to G-M-G, Dorian owns Greenwich Auto Works specializing in European vehicle service & new car preparation. The two shops in conjunction create a streamlined aftersales process. They have in hand cars that I have genuinely adorned long before it was the popular thing to do. I truly am inspired by their getup & go attitudes, one of my grander reasons for loving the tri-state. Hustle or nothing. Enjoy this lovely session. Cheers.@GreenwichAutoworksLocated in Greenwich, Connecticut@German_Motor_Group Located in New York, New YorkFeel free to DM either for serious inquiries about service or salesIntro & exit track provided by the talented @ArifOmariandFranklinproduction squad.
In the latest and thoroughly overdue episode of The Carmudgeon Show, the boys spend an hour or so discussing their latest video projects: Jason's just released Icons episode about the G80 M3 (which necessitates revisiting the E30 M3 and E46 M3 and of course the W201 Mercedes 190E 2.3-16), and Derek's upcoming BTS with DTS episodes about the Lexus LFA and NA1 Honda NSX-R. They also discuss the recent rally they attended, which was not without drama (one car flew off a cliff) and their preferred type of driving and how certain cars are and aren't suited to that. On that topic, Jason and Derek compare notes about the first generation NSX; Jason isn't a huge fan, while Derek described the NSX-R as one of the best drives he's ever had. In fact, Jason took a cashier's check to buy a US-market NSX and came home empty handed because he wasn't enthusiastic enough about how it drove. The Carmudgeon Show is a comedic, information-filled conversation with Jason Cammisa and Derek Tam-Scott, two car enthusiasts who are curmudgeonly beyond their years. Proving you don't have to be old to be grumpy, they spend each episode talking about what's wrong with various parts of the automotive universe. Despite their best efforts to keep it negative, they usually wind up laughing, happy, and extolling their love for cars. Which just makes them angrier and more bitter.ISSIMI is an enthusiast-owned, full-service specialist offering sales, consignment, collection management, service, and consulting to discerning enthusiasts and collectors.
