Our friend Eddie Kaufholz and I keep talking about anything and everything from which band we'd go see in a different country, what we love most about big concerts, prioritizing rest, and then Eddie offers up some GREAT suggestions for me and CAIN and the Live And In Color tour. We added some note taking pages for you for this episode over in our TSF Seasons Guidebook and you can find that on page 48 of your guidebook! Come tell us over on @thatsoundspodcast instagram if you have an idea for a great name for Annie & Eddie listeners. What should we call you?! Our friend Eddie Kaufholz and I keep talking and you know we're getting into the hard hitting stuff like… the relationship between brain size and head size, talking animals, and opening day of baseball. But there's 7 minutes of serious too, because we had to talk about shoes and financial security and being misunderstood. We're going there today. Don't forget to download your spring pages for your TSF Guidebook to be ready for Monday! Today on the show, I get to keep talking with your pal and mine, Eddie Kaufholz. He needs no introduction around here, but do we cover the hard-hitting questions like does a snowman count as Christmas decorations or can they be part of just general winter decorations? We also talk a little bit about my new kids book coming out on grief and loss that I wrote with my sister, Tatum Green. You can find more info and preorder that here: Where Did TJ Go? If you're following along in the TSF Seasons Guidebook, there are no note-taking pages for this one BECAUSE WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO DOCUMENT THIS NONSENSE. But. There is a nice crossword puzzle on page 16 so if you want something to do with your hands while you listen, we've got you covered there! . . . . . Want to watch this episode on YouTube? Our buddy Eddie Kaufholz is back! If you haven't been around for a minute, once a month we're recapping each of the last 10 years in honor of the 10th anniversary of That Sounds Fun, so this month, we're recapping 2021... but more importantly wow discuss Eddie's college band, signing up for Saturday Night Live tickets, and we also invent a name for those close friends you'd wear no make up around and a 20 year old t-shirt and gym shorts. . . . . Today on the show, we're talking all things 2020 with our friend, Eddie Kaufholz. I know y'all have been asking about a recap of the Ryman show with Eddie, but we're saving that for that actual anniversary week of That Sounds Fun which is in November... although we couldn't help ourselves to talk about it a little bit! But Annie and Eddie Keep Talking got started in 2020, so you KNOW today we are chopping it up about the weird, sad, and nostalgic days that year. What a wild time. . . . . In case you're just jumping in with us, every month we're chatting with our good buddy, Eddie Kaufholz and recapping the last 10 years in honor of the 10 year anniversary of That Sounds Fun. We've made it all the way to 2018, and this conversation had some surprising and hilarious revelations Eddie didn't see coming. I fangirl hard today on this episode with John Eldredge. His writings, his podcast, his teachings- his work has shaped my heart for two decades and I'm so grateful. While we recorded this conversation before COVID19 was the pandemic it is today, these words were perfectly meant for today. John is about to invite you to think through the importance of whole-heartedness and what it is like to be a human right now. His new book Get Your Life Back is an absolute gift. What choice did we have but to have Eddie Kaufholz back on the podcast to help us wrap up 2019? We talk down all the big topics that matter and don't matter and pretty much sort out everything about the last decade as we head into the next one. Always grateful for when Eddie makes me laugh AND cry. (We also have a little drop in from our buddy Andy Barron... so that's a special year end treat!) Overview Eddie Kaufholz joins me on the Thrive with Asbury Seminary Podcast today. He is the producer and host of The New Activist Podcast, on staff with International Justice Mission, and is an Asbury Seminary alum. We talked about his journey to become an activist, his work with International Justice Mission, ways we can look at gift-giving this Christmas season with a heart to help others, and how we can develop a lifestyle of generosity and joy throughout the year.
I absolutely always LOVE have Eddie Kaufholz on the podcast, and y'all do too! Today we're talking all things The New Activist- how Eddie got all of us started in our love for Christian Appalachian Project, why he got involved with IJM in the first place, and all about his brand new series (that is INCREDIBLE) about the life of a young child in slavery in Ghana, Esther. Don't miss this episode with one of our favorite humans! Eddie Kaufolz basically taught us everything we know about podcasts and we have him on Seasons to talk about marriage, secrets to marriage, cycles of love, and the good stuff. Featuring variety segment My Brother in-law Dave. Edited by: Chris Mann
This week is a little different as our preacher used a video in two segments in the middle of the sermon. You'll hear two musical interludes and at each interlude, we suggest you pause the podcast and watch the video segments in their place: At Interlude 1 watch this video until the 3:00 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gM6mnLW3YE. At Interlude 2 watch the rest of the video linked above. Eddie Kaufholz with International Justice Mission and a member of Servants of Christ speaks about IJM's work. International Justice Mission is a global organization that protects the poor from violence throughout the developing world. IJM partners with local authorities to rescue victims of violence, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen justice systems. Learn more at IJM.org. What makes a world changing activist? Today, Lisa Sharon Harper gives us her answer. Yet what she shares is not simply a beat by beat recounting of her life, but rather a global, systemic, and theological treatise on the nature of injustice and the possibility of change. Today's conversation between Ms. Harper and Eddie Kaufholz will challenge you to not only understand your own history, but bravely confront what that history says about who you can become. Oh man, oh man, oh man! We had Eddie Kaufholz on for a fun episode. He was sweating out of nervousness and laughter, Tanner was sweating out of nervous and laughter, Cody was sweating because he lives in Louisiana, and Blake was. . . there I guess. Seriously, you don't want to miss this episode. It was absolutely fun and such a great conversation starter about social justice, activism, and the Church. You'll find out so much about Eddie (like his favorite host of The Future Family Podcast, his favorite side-dish at weddings), and our thoughts on social justice as it pertains to our faith. Be sure to check out The New Activist http://newactivist.is/about (new season COMING SOON!) and follow Eddie on Twitter @edwardoreddie Let us know what you think about this episode!

There was no other way to end the year than having our old pal Eddie Kaufholz back on the show. We talk about 2018 like it can't hear us- the things we loved and hated, the ways it surprised us, Eddie's big changes this year (and he parents his daughters a few times), and we dive deep into plans for 2019. This is a thinker and an LOLer. Of course it is. Thanks for an amazingly fun year, you guys. I wouldn't do this without you. Over 5 million downloads and 70+ shows in 2018, and still the best part is when you come up to me at a restaurant or airport and tell me your favorite episode. So THANK YOU SO MUCH. Y'all are better friends than I deserve. Here's to 2019- a year full of great shows (we already mostly know the first three months and it's LEGIT) and lots of new friends and having more fun than we did in any year before. That's my goal for us, at least. :) . . . . . Quick reminders: 1. No new show on New Years Eve but we'll be back on January 3! 2. We are reading 100 Days to Brave together starting January 1! You guys. What other way would I want to end the year than circling around with our bestie Eddie Kaufholz. We laughed, we got serious (him more than me), we talked about the highs and the lows and the weirds of 2017, with a purposeful lack of politics because you'll get PLENTY of that elsewhere. Pardon us as we finish 2017 with a little sarcasm and a lot of humor and some really good moments of friendship. (Love you guys. Thanks for an amazing year.) http://www.eddiekaufholz.com http://100daystobrave.com http://anniefdowns.com #thatsoundsfunpodcast ... join in the conversation wherever hashtags are welcome. :)
Oh y'all. We had the absolute most fun at #TSFWeekend2017. Three days together, hanging out and making friends, eating delicious food, and hearing from incredible artists- exactly how I want to spend a weekend in July! We recorded a live podcast with many of the folks you already know and love- Dave Barnes, Eddie Kaufholz, Kelleigh Bannen, Christy Nockels, and some new voices too, like Emmy Singer from Inner Light Yoga. We had the best time and I hope you'll feel like you were right there with us! http://anniefdowns.com #thatsoundsfunpodcast ... join in the conversation wherever hashtags are welcome. :)

You know the best way to end a Christmas party is standing around laughing with your favorite people, and that is why we have Eddie Kaufholz back with us today. With Christmas just around the corner, I definitely needed to get Eddie's opinion on some very important holiday topics. But obviously, we ended up talking about 73 other things as well. Hope you enjoy the end of the party and we'll see you in 2017! (Thank you for listening, friends. I love hanging with you here.
