Philippians 2:5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset asChrist Jesus:Touch has LIFE-GIVING power.Song of Solomon 7:7-8 MSG “Your beauty, within and without, is absolute, dear lover, close companion. You are tall and supple, like the palm tree, and your full breasts are like sweet clusters of dates. I say, “I'm going to climb that palm tree! I'm going to caress its fruit!” Oh yes! Your breasts will be clusters of sweet fruit to me,1. Sex is GOOD but God created it with BOUNDARIES for your benefit.2. The BIOLOGY behind the theology of sex. DOPAMIN VASOPRESSIN OXYTOCIN1 Corinthians 6:16–18 MSG There's more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, ‘The two become one.' Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master, we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment and intimacy, leaving us more lonely than ever— the kind of sex that can never ‘become one.' There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love…3. The PRACTICAL theology of GREAT sex in marriage.1 Corinthians 7:1–5 MSG Now, getting down to the questions you asked in your letter to me. First, you asked, ‘Is it a good thing to have sexual relations?' Certainly — but only within a certain context. It's good for a man to have a wife, and for a woman to have a husband. Sexual drives are strong, but marriage is strong enough to contain them and provide for a balanced and fulfilling sexual life in a world of sexual disorder. The marriage bed must be a place of mutuality — the husband seeking to satisfy his wife, the wife seeking to satisfy her husband.Marriage is not a place to stand up for your rights. Abstaining from sex is permissible for a period of time if you both agree, and if it is for the purposes of prayer and fasting—but only for such times. Then come back together again.Satan has an ingenious way of tempting us when we least expect it.1. Sex is only designed for the CONTEXT OF MARRIAGE.2. Abstaining from sex in marriage is NOT GOOD.#1 Conflict with sex is FREQUENCY.3. Sex needs to be a place of MUTUALITY.Men tend to be like MICROWAVES. Women tend to be likeCROCKPOTS.Women need NON-SEXUAL affection to be turned on.Men need to FEEL WANTED to be fulfilled emotionally and sexually.4. Keep TALKING and GROWING to avoid temptation. It takes a LOT MORE than sex to have a strong marriage. But it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to have a strong marriage WITHOUT IT.SINGLES:To have the best sex in marriage commit to abstain outside of it.MARRIED:“What are some things I can do that help you get in the mood?”“What is your ideal frequency on a weekly basis?” Agree on a range. Get started Tonight.

Real talk: I tried very hard to avoid this episode. Because boards + fundraising can get… messy. But if we're serious about major gifts, we can't keep skipping this conversation. In this episode, I unpack why boards and executives keep blaming each other for fundraising results and why the real issue usually isn't effort, motivation, or commitment. It's the system. Most of us are driving a fundraising “car” that was built for a different era. When it breaks down, boards say, “You're driving wrong,” and executives say, “You're not giving me enough gas.” Meanwhile, everyone's exhausted and nothing changes. If fundraising feels heavy, risky, or dependent on one or two people, this episode is for you.Bring a partner. Come ready to be honest. No replay because real change needs shared presence.Let's stop blaming the driver, the gas, or each other and fix the dang car.Important Links:Register Here: https://go.rheawong.com/murkytomoneysignup My Big Ask Gifts Program: https://go.rheawong.com/big-ask-gifts-program My Book, Get That Money Honey: https://go.rheawong.com/get-that-money-honey My Newsletter: https://www.rheawong.com/

Sermon TextJohn 15:18–16:4If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father also. If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: They hated me without a cause. But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning. I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away. They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you. I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.Cross-referencesJohn 7:7The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify about it that its works are evil.2 Timothy 3:12Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,Matthew 5:11-12Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.Sermon NotesWho Does the World Hate?Jesus: The world hates Him because He testifies that its works are evil.Christians: Because we are chosen out of the world and follow a Master who was also persecuted. If you are not hated by the world, why?Conformity to the WorldFear of ManResidual Cultural ChristianityNot yet KnownHow does hatred from the world manifest?Direct (persecution/violence)Indirect (marginalization/social pressure)How should Christians respond to the hatred of the world?Keep Talking about Jesus (bearing witness through the Holy Spirit).Don't Fall Away (remembering that Jesus warned us these things would happen).

Have you ever walked away from a conversation with your partner thinking,“We've talked about this so many times… why does nothing ever change?”In this episode, we're talking about stuck conversations—the ones that keep looping around emotional needs, help and support, or personal growth… without ever really moving the relationship forward.I break down what's actually happening beneath the surface of these repeated discussions—especially the common dynamic where one partner has a clear vision and unmet expectations for the relationship and the other doesn't share that vision, doesn't fully understand it, or quietly resists itI'll also walk you through what actually needs to shift—not just what to say, but:what to decide before the conversationhow to redirect your energy during itand how to be radically honest with yourself after, especially when the outcome isn't what you hoped forIf you've been doing everything you know how to do—and still feel stuck—this episode will help you zoom out, see the pattern more clearly, and understand what might finally help break the cycle. This is the Moment to Get Help:These conversations don't fix themselves—and repeating them without support often makes things worse. A private consultation call gives you the outside perspective and structure needed to finally break the cycle. You can BOOK YOUR CALL WITH ME HEREAnd to sign up for my email list, CLICK HERE

Best Of TP&R As we close out the year, we're resurfacing a small handful of conversations from the Talkin' Politics & Religion Without Killin' Each Other archive that best reflect what this show exists to do: create space for thoughtful disagreement, moral seriousness, and the hard work of living together in a pluralistic democracy. This conversation with Jonathan Rauch and Liz Joyner stands out as a true highlight — not just because of the ideas discussed, but because of the spirit in which they're explored: curiosity, generosity, and an insistence that liberal democracy is something we must actively practice. Whether this is your first time hearing it or you're returning to it, I'm really glad you're here. Why defending viewpoint diversity might be the most radical—and necessary—act in higher education today. What a treat to welcome two leading voices in the fight for viewpoint diversity and constructive civic dialogue: Jonathan Rauch, senior fellow at Brookings and author of The Constitution of Knowledge, and Liz Joyner, founder of The Village Square. Recorded at a moment of rising polarization — and resurfaced now because its insights have only grown more urgent — Jon and Liz unpack the mission of Heterodox Academy (HxA). As board members, Jon and Liz unpack the organization's mission to restore open inquiry and truth-seeking within higher education—and how these values are essential to preserving our democracy at large. With personal stories, sharp analysis, and even a few laughs, they explore what we each can do to counter the ecosystem of illiberalism and strengthen the social fabric. Calls to Action: ✅ If this episode resonates, consider sharing it with someone who might need a reminder that disagreement doesn't have to mean dehumanization. ✅ Subscribe to Talkin' Politics & Religion Without Killin' Each Other on your favorite podcast platform. ✅ Leave a review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen: ratethispodcast.com/goodfaithpolitics ✅ Check out our Substack: coreysnathan.substack.com ✅ Watch the full conversation and subscribe on YouTube: youtube.com/@politicsandreligion Timestamps & Topics [00:00:00] Intro: What's broken in our democracy and how we fix it [00:01:00] Meet the guests: Jonathan Rauch and Liz Joyner [00:03:00] What is Heterodox Academy and how did it begin? [00:06:00] Rauch on early signs of "wokeness" and Kindly Inquisitors [00:08:00] Joyner's grassroots experience with ideological diversity at Village Square [00:10:00] The "ecosystem of illiberalism" and why liberal principles matter [00:15:00] Can HxA help defend against external political coercion? [00:20:00] Are we headed toward institutional collapse or renewal? [00:25:00] Speech vs. coercion: The cultural and legal frontlines [00:33:00] Personal costs of speaking out: Corey's Chappelle story [00:36:00] What should institutions do to defend free speech? [00:39:00] On the Trump administration's authoritarian tactics [00:45:00] Fears for 2026 and 2028 elections [00:48:00] Signs of progress: Academic reform, FIRE, and HxA programs [00:54:00] How to break the cycle of intolerance [00:56:00] How do we actually talk to people who disagree? [01:01:00] "Love people back into communion with liberalism" [01:08:00] The local vs. national divide—learning from LA's fires & ICE raids [01:14:00] Final reflections: Reclaiming truth, curiosity, and compassion Key Takeaways Liberalism needs defenders: Jon reminds us that truth-seeking demands criticism—and that “criticism hurts, but it's necessary.” Civic spaces matter: Liz underscores the importance of local, respectful dialogue and building trust before crisis hits. The ecosystem is the problem: Illiberalism isn't coming from just one side; it's a reactive spiral we must all help disrupt. Institutions must hold firm: It's not disagreement that's dangerous—it's coercion by powerful entities that silence dissent. Each of us has a role: From book clubs to coffee shops, we can all “love people back into communion with liberalism.” Notable Quotes “We are better together. A diverse people can self-govern—if we protect the institutions that help us do so.” – Liz Joyner “If I'm talking, I'm not learning. If I'm listening, I probably am.” – Jonathan Rauch “What I'd like you to talk about today is how we can love people back into communion with liberalism.” – Quoting Jonathan V. *premiered on Patreon December 3, 2021We're talking one of the most emotional television episodes we've ever seen. Just saying 'The Christmas episode' out loud makes me tear up.We learn that Rickie has been kicked out of his home has no place to go and Angela wants to help. There are so many layers as to why and how he doesn't want to tell his closest friends exactly what is happening. To our surprise Jordan is there when Rickie needs him. We have an amazing guest star in musician Juliana Hatfield and I tell the story of her Kurt Cobain connection. Angela's parents mean well as they are trying to best handle the situation. Brian's family left for 10 days and of course he wanted to stay home alone. And Sharon and Rayanne become my new favorite comedy duo to lighten a very heavy episode. Our story only gets darker from here and it's riveting and important television.for the complete My So Called Life recaps join the Patreon!---Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the Patreon!
