The Western church is in shambles. It has become lukewarm and compromised because of a love for the world, a lack of an awestruck fear of God, and a watered-down view of His grace and sovereignty. In answer to this crisis Kevin Swanson has issued an urgent call-to-arms in his new book, Strong: An Urgent Call to Strengthen the Things that Remain. Pulling no punches, he calls out Christians to reject escapist pursuits—be it through alcohol, sports, the Internet, or other off-ramps from reality—and pursue a stronger grace, a stronger faith, a stronger church, and stronger families. Join Scott Brown and Jason Dohm in today's podcast as they break down the book with Kevin.
Vechi Mutum: Weaponizing Excuses to Avoid Sobriety | The Hopeaholics PodcastIn this deeply moving episode of The Hopeaholics Podcast, Vechi Mutum delivers an unflinching and inspiring account of his journey through addiction, trauma, and recovery, offering hope to anyone facing their own battles. Vechi endured a childhood filled with violence and instability, leading to a suicide attempt at 14 and early struggles with mental health. These experiences set the stage for a descent into addiction, starting with compulsive sugar consumption as a child and escalating to prescription drugs like Norco and Valium after a knee injury derailed his firefighter dreams. By his early 20s, Vechi was entangled in methamphetamine use, introduced by a neighbor, which fueled a life of homelessness, criminal activity, and estrangement from family. Now over a decade sober, Vechi shares profound reflections on rebuilding his life, including an 11-year marriage, adopting their son, and raising two boys with intention, teaching them resilience and accountability. The episode also highlights Vechi's passionate advocacy, including a call to treat fentanyl use as attempted suicide and a demand for better support for veterans battling addiction. With raw honesty, Vechi discusses navigating the “dark hallways” of recovery, from false legal accusations to the ongoing wreckage of past mistakes, emphasizing the power of doing “the next right thing.”#thehopeaholics #redemption #recovery #AlcoholAddiction #AddictionRecovery #wedorecover #SobrietyJourney #MyStory #RecoveryIsPossible #Hope #wedorecover Join our patreon to get access to an EXTRA EPISODE every week of ‘Off the Record', exclusive content, a thriving recovery community, and opportunities to be featured on the podcast. https://patreon.com/TheHopeaholics Follow the Hopeaholics on our Socials:https://www.instagram.com/thehopeaholics https://linktr.ee/thehopeaholicsBuy Merch: https://thehopeaholics.myshopify.comVisit our Treatment Centers: https://www.hopebythesea.comIf you or a loved one needs help, please call or text 949-615-8588. This conversation is about reversing the trend of cynicism and erosion of trust in our government through education. Lindsay Cormack, an associate professor of political science and author of "How to Raise a Citizen”, joins us to discuss the state of US Government education in our schools. You may be surprised to learn that every state decides how much time to devote to this topic, and how to test students. Due to the inconsistent and often insufficient government education for millions, our students are leaving high school without a solid knowledge of our government functions and how to be a part of it. How will there be social changes if our young adults don't understand our government, opt out and believe that the system is rigged? Our government was designed to change slowly to ensure stability. We need to ensure our students understand how they can be forces of change through their votes and by joining coalitions and groups that they believe in. Today, many high school graduates have not read the constitution, aren't aware of who represents them , and they lack the most basic understanding of the division of responsibilities in our government. If our students don't understand the brilliance of our constitution, we can see why they would take it for granted and not do their part as active citizens. Lindsey's book gives parents a framework for having discussions about government and politics with their children. In this conversation, Lindsey shares recommendations for how parents can teach their kids to be good citizens with easy to follow tips for every age group. This episode is an urgent call to action for all parents to prioritize civic education and to help their children learn how to make a difference in their communities. Next Level Soul with Alex Ferrari: A Spirituality & Personal Growth Podcast
In the dance of existence, where the old collapses and the new emerges, our guest today, Addison Ames, brings an extraordinary perspective as a channel for the ultra-dimensional being Metatron. A spiritual architect by essence, Addison offers a profound journey into the unfolding complexities of human consciousness and the systems shaping our reality. The conversation begins with a reflection on humanity's rapid evolution. Addison explains, “You've got to finish the first half of the century to get to the good stuff.” According to Metatron, we are in a phase of compounded complexity, where layers of technological advancements and societal transitions lead us toward exponential growth. This, he asserts, is humanity's trajectory—an upward spiral into truth and collaboration. What's striking is the acknowledgment of resistance within systems—whether it's religion, government, or technology. Addison poignantly notes how humanity is a "race of overcomers," constantly grinding against opposition to emerge stronger. Through this lens, resistance isn't a barrier but a mechanism for growth, a tension that refines us like coffee beans ground into a perfect brew.SPIRITUAL TAKEAWAYSRelating is Key: Addison emphasizes that the core purpose of life is to "relate." Whether with oneself, others, or the cosmos, relationships are the foundation of human experience and evolution.Truth as a Compass: Humanity is navigating a melisma of information, moving towards discernment and authenticity. Truth, as Addison articulates, is essential for better decision-making and collective progress.Complexity Breeds Growth: The layered intricacies of our systems—AI, spirituality, and societal structures—are catalysts for awakening. They challenge us to adapt, innovate, and co-create a more harmonious reality. As the conversation delves deeper, Addison Ames reveals the intricate architecture of existence that Metatron illuminates. From the energetic blueprints governing reality to the divine order underlying free will, it's a masterclass in perceiving life's grand design. “You are creators,” Addison reminds us. “Everything you do is an act of building, shaping, and evolving.”The dialogue transitions into practical advice. Addison encourages self-awareness as the gateway to connecting with the divine. By knowing and loving oneself, individuals align with their higher selves, unlocking their innate creative potential. The advice is simple yet transformative: “Let it go,” Addison advises about forgiveness. By releasing the weight of old patterns, we make space for the expansive energy of ascension.Ultimately, this conversation serves as a beacon of hope. Despite the chaos and challenges of today, humanity is stepping into what Addison calls a "Golden Age" by mid-century. It is a future where collaboration replaces competition, truth overcomes deception, and love becomes the foundation of all systems. Please enjoy my conversation with Addison Ames.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/next-level-soul-podcast-with-alex-ferrari--4858435/support.

Mercy and Grace in the End Times: Our Urgent Call to Reflect Christ • Friday Service Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give We are living in extraordinary times, times that many of us believe are the final days before the return of Jesus Christ. The world is in turmoil, and there's an urgency in the Spirit for us as believers to understand our role in this hour. The signs are all around us—wars, earthquakes, lawlessness, and hearts growing cold (Matthew 24:6-12). In such times, it is easy to get caught up in fear, anger, and judgment. Yet, the Lord calls us to something greater. He calls us to mercy and grace. Today, I want to talk about why exercising mercy and grace is not just an option but a necessity, especially in this critical hour. Not only does grace help others, it transforms and blesses us as well. Matthew 24:12-13 (NKJV) "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved." James 2:13 (NKJV) "For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment." Matthew 5:7 (NKJV) "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." Titus 2:11-12 (NKJV) "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age." Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) "And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." 1 Peter 4:7-8 (NKJV) "But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for 'love will cover a multitude of sins.'" Luke 6:36 (NKJV) "Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful." As we navigate these perilous times, we must be agents of mercy and grace. The Bible tells us that lawlessness will abound and the love of many will grow cold (Matthew 24:12), but this is not our portion. We are called to love, to show mercy, and to extend grace, not only because it blesses others but because it changes us. Grace empowers us, strengthens us, and keeps us walking in the power of Christ. Now more than ever, we need to reflect the heart of God to a lost and broken world. Mercy triumphs over judgment. Grace gives us the strength to endure. And in the end, it is by His grace that we will stand firm until the very end, hearing the words we long for: "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23).
Dear Listeners, Thanks for your patience as we get used to working without the stellar strengths and abilities of our former sound engineer and producer, Ms. Jenna DiQuarto. We made the call-out for new sound engineers and producers, dear listeners, and she came! Please welcome our two newest members to the team, Freda Bear and Ann Castile. Ann took up the reigns this month and worked into the wee hours last night to finish up the production of this show. Great job, Ann! Thistle too, is unsure about how much longer she can keep it up with the WLRN collective, so stay tuned for some big changes around here, sisters! Thankfully, the younger generation is pickin' up the slack and Ms. Lola Bessis took the reigns this month on the topic, the interview and even the commentary! Lola's is a compelling voice clamoring for critical and free thought in a world full of an apocalyptic din. Thank you, Lola, for your work! Dr Dina Siddiqi is a distinguished feminist anthropologist whose work delves into critical development, transnational feminist theory, and the anthropology of labor and Islam. Lola interviewed her for this episode turning its attention to the regions of the world known and Israel and Palestine on this one-year anniversary of Hamas' retaliatory invasion of Israel. In Lola's commentary, she talks about her own life and what it means to her to think critically about the forces at work in the Palestinian people's current situation. She begs the listener to do her research and look back at this region's history, peoples, and cultures. The music featured this month is "The Urgent Call of Palestine" by Zeinab Shaath. Cover artwork is by WLRN member, Margaret. Her artist's statement is below. "This month's image is based on the idea of reflections. There is the Israeli flag (with its Star of David - symbolizing the Jewish religion / ethnicity) in the sky - also ‘reflected' in the water - that turns into Palestinian rubble. With the Palestinian Flag layered over the water and rubble. Of course, there are questions of Whose land? Whose water? Who has what rights? Where did those rights come from? And all the various ways of interpreting that."

Martin was busy tending to his unexpected guests when an urgent radio call came in. The railroad project needed the welding repair done immediately. Martin tried to tell Charles to get his welder up to Manchester and do the welding as he had promised, but the Hendrick brothers had gone to the coast and would not return until Friday. The welder was still at the Hendricks' farm but how could he get it up to Manchester without the truck? Your support helps me keep the Siege story going. In today's sermon, titled “Make Haste”: Answering God's Urgent Call," we explore the powerful message found in Luke 19:5 (NIV). This passage emphasizes the importance of responding quickly and wholeheartedly when God calls us. Just as Zacchaeus, a tax collector, eagerly climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see Jesus, we are challenged to make haste in our obedience to God's calling. Through this sermon, we are reminded of the significance of being attentive, ready, and willing to act promptly when God speaks to us. By doing so, we can experience the transformative power of God's love, grace, and purpose in our lives.
