Hollywood fixers are the shadowy operatives who ensure that the dark secrets of the rich and famous stay buried. From the Golden Era of Hollywood to the present day, fixers have used a combination of threats, bribes, and strategic alliances with law enforcement and the media to manipulate stories and protect the images of the stars. Figures like Eddie Mannix, Anthony Pellicano, and more recently Faheem Muhammad, have played crucial roles in managing scandals, orchestrating cover-ups, and maintaining the glamour of Hollywood. These fixers often work behind the scenes, silencing victims, negotiating settlements, and leveraging connections to keep their clients untouchable. Their methods have evolved over the decades, from outright coercion and cover-ups to sophisticated crisis management strategies in the age of social media..Despite a more transparent culture and the rapid spread of information, the role of the fixer in Hollywood remains indispensable. High-profile individuals still require damage control to protect their image and careers, and modern fixers employ a mix of old-school intimidation tactics and new-age social media manipulation to get the job done. The allure of fame and power means that for every scandal that surfaces, there are countless others that remain hidden due to the invisible hands of fixers. Hollywood's silver curtain remains firmly drawn, hiding the darkness that lies beneath the glamorous facade, with fixers continuing to operate in the shadows to keep it that way.(commercial at 8:52)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.
Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team is currently engaged in a battle to prevent the use of a video showing him assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, from being used as evidence in his upcoming trial. The video, reportedly from a 2016 incident at a hotel, surfaced publicly through CNN in May 2024. Diddy's lawyers argue that the government, specifically the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), unlawfully leaked the footage to tarnish his reputation and compromise his right to a fair trial. In their legal filings, Diddy's team claims that the release of the video was strategically aimed at influencing public opinion and tainting the potential jury pool. They have requested an evidentiary hearing to investigate the alleged government misconduct, along with access to related documents and communications. Additionally, they are pushing for a gag order to prevent further leaks from government personnel and seeking to suppress the video from being admitted in court as evidence. The legal strategy centers on the argument that the video's publication has led to damaging pre-trial publicity, which they claim jeopardizes Diddy's ability to receive an impartial trial. Meanwhile, Diddy faces serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, and remains in custody awaiting his trial, scheduled for May 2025.This legal move reflects the high stakes for both Diddy and his legal team, as the video serves as a critical piece of evidence in the broader criminal case against him, alongside multiple civil lawsuits alleging abuse and misconduct.Hollywood fixers are the shadowy operatives who ensure that the dark secrets of the rich and famous stay buried. WHO REALLY KILLED SUPERMAN THE STRANGE SAGA AND MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF ACTOR GEORGE REEVES When famous celebrities die suddenly, it is natural for human curiosity to wonder what truly happened. In 1959, George Reeves, who became a star as the original Clark Kent/Superman on television, passed away. It was said that he died by suicide but many people still believe that he was murdered. Although the entire story remains a mystery, let's go over the facts that we do know about his strange death. Just a year after the television series Adventures of Superman ended, Phyllis Coates (who played Lois Lane in the series) received a very strange call. It was from a woman named Toni Mannix (whom Reeves had been having an affair with as she was the wife of MGM general manager Eddie Mannix) and she said, “The boy is dead. He's been murdered.” Turns out, she was referring to Reeves, who had been found dead in his bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head. There was a party going on at the time, and some say that he committed suicide because of depression and his inability to find another gig after playing Superman. After his death was ruled a suicide, his mother could not accept it and asked for the case to be reinvestigated as a homicide. They found no additional evidence that would support his death being a murder and she withdrew her request. Even so, some still believe that he was murdered. Some people believe that it could have been Eddie Mannix who had him killed as he was rumored to have connections with the Mob. However, he was also having affairs and by the time Reeves died, he had been dating another woman named Leonore Lemmon, who was there that night. She reportedly began telling party guests that her lover was going to shoot himself and when they heard a gunshot, she said, “I told you, he's shot himself.” She later said she was “only kidding.” Film Career Reeves's film career began in 1939 when he was cast as Stuart Tarleton (incorrectly listed in the film's credits as Brent Tarleton), one of Scarlett O'Hara's suitors in Gone with the Wind. It was a minor role, but he and Fred Crane were in the film's opening scene. (Reeves and Crane both dyed their hair red to portray the Tarleton twins.) After Gone with the Wind was filmed, Reeves returned to the Pasadena Playhouse and was given the lead role in the play Pancho. This part directly led to his being contracted to Warner Brothers. Warner had him change his professional name to George Reeves. His Gone with the Wind screen credit reflects the change. Between the start of production on Gone With the Wind and its release 12 months later, several films on his Warner contract were made and released, making Gone With the Wind his first film role, but his fifth film release.
Today we'll be taking a trip back to the golden age of Hollywood to talk about king goon, Eddie Mannix. It turns out even before TMZ became famous as the blood sucking leeches that they are making their money off celebrity gossip, people loved to talk about actors and actresses and their various scandals. So Eddie Mannix made sure that either those stories didn't get out, or that at least the people working for MGM were skipped in the headlines in favor of people who worked with a different studio. How did he do this? With corruption, intimidation, and violence of course. So enjoy!

We are now on Patreon! We are not setting up a paywall, but if you would like to support Gladio Free Europe, we'll be thankful for your contribution. --- The Golden Age of Hollywood was a rough time to be an actor. Overdoses, suicides, and secret abortions were routine, but always escaped the papers thanks to the hard work of the studio fixers. In the 1930s to the 1950s, Hollywood studio heads hired thugs and corporate spies to maintain control of their employees and keep scandals under wraps, and these fixers often used blackmail and brutality to enforce the studio's will. This week, Gladio Free Europe discuss Joel and Ethan Coen's recent classic Hail, Caesar! which follows a day in the life of one of these fixers, a fairground bouncer turned movie executive named Eddie Mannix, played by Josh Brolin. Although the movie depicts him as a deeply conflicted family man, the real Mannix was a world-class scumbag who abused and manipulated may actors, particularly young women, and may have even murdered those who got in his way. Liam and Russian Sam recount some sordid stories about real Hollywood fixers, especially Mannix, and go into the unlikely origins of America's film industry and its early leaders such as Louis B. Mayer. The studio system was both awful and awe-inspiring, an institution that relied on terrible exploitation and enabled shocking abuse, but also produced many of the greatest cultural achievements America has ever seen. Men like Eddie Mannix made all of that possible. This episode includes some graphic descriptions of abuse.

This month we're pulling back the curtain for two stories of the people behind the scenes of the movies and music you know and love. The people who helped make things run smoothly outside of the public eye. One will horrify you. One will delight you. Both will ruin popular entertainment for you forever. We'll be covering the debauchery and crimes that were covered up by the notorious Eddie Mannix (15:07) and the musical geniuses that were The Wrecking Crew (1:08:15).
Hi friends! Welcome back to Divulgence with Jordan Vezeau (that's me!) and sit back, relax, and enjoy the greatness that is Donald Jeffries! I welcome back the author, researcher, and radio host to speak on his brand-new book, ‘On Borrowed Fame', as well as his book ‘Survival of the Richest'. We have a fun talk on so many great things, including his dreams of being a Rockstar like Jackson Browne, timelines of changes in wealth distribution in various entertainment areas (and how the Eagles hit the timeline perfectly), how the world and its markets are both rigged against and unfair for the poor, the rookies, and the non-mainstream, and the lack of any meaning formula or process for determining dispersing wealth in Hollywood and other areas of entertainment such as music. We also discuss low royalty rates, entertainer shelf-lives, old musicians needing to find new work, one-hit wonders with large million dollar fortunes, huge successes and legends living and dying broke, classic music studio dictators, Eddie Mannix, dividing the wealth, systems where the rich get richer, the rise/fall of the Three Stooges, the meaning now/then for a musical act to ‘pack a house', as well as why popular culture is so interesting and… popular! We explore parallels shared by the worlds of politics and entertainment, as entertainment mirrors politics and its figures in so many ways, including mysterious murders, deaths, and suicides that never explained, as well as the sometimes ridiculously confusing flow of money. With a rapidly changing world, we analyze significances of emergences of online content creators, popular social media and entertainment apps, entertainment expos (such as Comic-Con), and the re-emergence of vinyl records, old sitcoms, and general vintage and retro styles. Don speaks on his experience being a successful author, the hurdles/difficulties he has faced to be successful, and why he always pulls for the ones who actually shed the blood, sweat, and tears. During his extensive research processes for his books, as he will share with us, Don speaks with all sorts of interesting characters that are celebrities and musicians, and does such extensive research, as he always does, to put out so much great work. We bone up on the classics, talking old movies and our shared passions for film noirs, classic B-movies, and the lighting, writing, and production values you just don't see anymore. This was such a fun talk and got me so excited to read more of Don's books, as should you! On this week's Fabulous Film & Friends our roundtable will be completing the second part of a matched set we started with last episode's discussion of Joel and Ethan Coen's Hudsucker Proxy, as we review their other lavish, 1950's-set extravaganza, 2016's Hail Caesar!. Returning for this thrilling follow up is a name over 200 podcast listeners trust, my younger sister Roseanne Caputi. Then there's the most doggedly truth-seeking pediatric dentist ever to set up shop in Salt Lake City, David Johnson, DMD. And back again in the official Paul Lynde Center Square is Actor, Voice Artist, photobug and funnyman, GORDON ALEX ROBERTSON! Hail Caesar! follows a day in the life of Hollywood Studio fixer Eddie Mannix as he shepherds a menagerie of actors, directors, and publicity hounds, keeping them out of trouble, motivated and happy during several productions in the studio's line up. Meanwhile on the set of Mannix's most expensive endeavor, a Tale of the Christ also entitled Hail Caesar, lead actor Baird Whitlock has been kidnapped by a group of Communists. And on a personal level, the scrupulous Mannix struggles with lying to his wife about his cigarette habit and must decide whether he will leave the chaos of Capitol Studios for the greener pastures of a cushy, serious-minded job at Lockheed Martin. As with Hudsucker Proxy, I first saw the film in less-than-ideal circumstances: on a plane bound for India in the summer of 2016, after missing the film in theaters once again-- something I rarely do with Coen Brothers movies. It should be noted that I missed two of their most visually spectacular films on the big screen and seeing Hail Caesar! amidst the din and flight attendants' interruptions of a plane voyage, I lost a lot of lines and nuance of the film, and yet I still loved it. Upon first seeing it, I declared on social media that you couldn't find a more Catholic message of self-sacrifice and mortification in a mainstream Hollywood film than if the film was bankrolled by the Vatican itself. Another voice in the roundtable couldn't help but notice a strong Kierkegaardian/existentialist worldview to this largely ignored and/or dismissed film and we all delve into the significance of the story as presented. What's the lowdown on the street? Find out!#hailcaesar!#joshbrolin#hollywood#fabulousfilmandfriendsNote: Actor Max Baker played the lead Communist in Hail Caesar! I mistakenly guessed his name was Mark Baker in the podcast. Either way, a fantastic performance.

This week we dive into 1950's Hollywood and explore the "life" of production head, Eddie Mannix. After one of his actors is kidnapped, Eddie's faced with a dilemma. Will he give in to the demands to finish his movie, or will he make due and cover up behind the scenes secrets?
What a Creep: Eddie Mannix Season 11, Episode 2 MGM’s Main "Fixer" & Creep This episode was inspired by the 2016 Cohen Brothers movie Hail Cesar which stars George Clooney, Scarlett Johansen, Tilda Swinton, and Josh Brolin playing a very fictionalized version of longtime MGM enforcer—Eddie Mannix. The film presents him as a lovable rogue and family man who has the tough job of keeping his stars in check. He was known as “the Fixer” and in reality, there was little to love about the man. Mannix was a ruthless thug who would beat up anyone who caused him a problem and made some folks disappear altogether. He had plenty of enablers including Richard Strickling (MGM Publicity Director) and Louis B. Mayer (President of MGM and past Creep.) Today, we are sticking to Mannix’s assholery with some of the creepiest moments in Hollywood legend.

George Reeves exploded into the American mainstream when he donned the red cape and blue tights playing Superman on the 1950's television series The Adventures of Superman. Almost instantly he became synonymous with the superhero as well as his alter ego, mild mannered Clark Kent. Off the screen, Reeve's life was much more complicated and hardly mild mannered. George had been engaged in a nearly ten year romance with Toni Mannix, wife of MGM executive Eddie Mannix known all around Hollywood was the kind of man whose bad side you didn't want to be on. By all accounts, it was an open secret, with Eddie being well aware and even approving of his wife's extra curricular activities. All of that changed in 1958, when Reeves left his older lover for the younger Leonore Lemmon, a New York socialite known for her fiery temper and enchanting looks. Their relationship was a tumultuous one, with Lemmon described as a heavy drinker with a mean temper and a controlling personality. She was known for seducing rich and powerful men, and leaving when she'd gotten what she wanted. George's career hit a slump, and while he was frustrated both financially and feeling typecast as Superman, his relationship began to breakdown despite a recent engagement and plans to marry. Then, in 1959, things seemed to be looking up. George was offered a job directing a sci-fi movie, Superman producers offered him a substantial raise and he had a media tour planned which would carry him to Australia and net him a large sum of money. In the final months of his life, Reeves became the subject of late night phone calls which began as an annoyance and slowly became violent and threatening. Three motor vehicle incidents nearly ended his life, the last of which came as the result of someone draining the break fluid from his Jaguar. Shaken and concerned, Reeves filed a report with the Los Angeles District Attorney and named his ex-girlfriend, Toni Mannix, as a possible suspect. Then, on the night of June 15th, 1959, George and Lemmon returned home late and went to bed. Several late night visitors came knocking around 1am, and an annoyed George expressed his disinterest in their company. He shared a nightcap with the group before going back upstairs to get some sleep. Moments later, a gunshot rang out and the Superman actor lay dead in his bed of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. For the LAPD, it was an open and shut case of suicide, but the evidence would suggest a much more sinister event had taken place. Did George Reeves succumb to depression and alcohol and choose to end his own life? Did his fiancee, Leonore Lemmon, follow him to the bedroom that night and shoot him either out of malice or as the result of a drunken argument? Did his ex-girlfriend, Toni Mannix, hire someone to take out the man who had betrayed her love or did her husband, powerful and corrupt film executive Eddie Mannix choose to strike back against the man who had not only scorned his wife, but also damaged his reputation among the Hollywood elite? Join host Steven Pacheco as he digs beneath the glitz and glam of 1950's Hollywood into one of its most controversial and tragic stories: The Suspicious Death of George Reeves. The future is here, and so is the new Coen brothers' film: Hail, Caesar! Hollywood is front and center this week on Back to the Movies as Caleb and the GoodTrash gang review the Coen Brothers latest outing, Hail Caesar!. It’s become something for movie goers every time a famous auteur puts out a movie and Joel and Ethan Coen are certainly no exception. They’ve taken on westerns, comedies, dramas, and even musicals. How well does the duo handle their own reflection on Hollywood? The only way the Coen Brothers ever could, with George Clooney of course! Caleb is joined by guest host Dalton Stuart of The People’s History of Film and Alexandra Bohannon of The Film Syllabus fame. The film stars Clooney, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Scarlet Johanson, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, and a slew of other great character actors. The film follows a day in the life of studio producer Eddie Mannix as he runs set to set to ensure that all of his productions are in line to hit their deadlines and budgets. Things get troublesome for Eddie when the star of his biggest film “Hail Caesar!” is kidnapped from the set and held for ransom. With so much at stake at the studio, Mannix is forced to choose between pursuing a new career, running his studio, or spending time with his family. Like the works of the Coen Brothers, the Back to the Movies discussion is a bit dry, a bit odd, and undeniably charming. Once the review moves into spoilers, things get a bit more analytical as the gang talks about some of the deeper themes at play in the film.Heil Caesar!Review – 3:29Recommendations – 33:43Spoilers– 38:47Like what you hear? In the new Hollywood satire from the Coen Brothers, Josh Brolin plays a studio "fixer" named Eddie Mannix. The real Eddie Mannix was a New Jersey-born reputed gangster who rose through the ranks at MGM to become the studio's general manager. His position required ensuring that the darker, more scandalous actions of MGM’s biggest names were kept hidden from the public and press at large. While devoting his career to protecting the personal lives of MGM’s employees, Mannix had his own colorful personal life: a chronic adulterer with a history of domestic violence, he married his mistress Toni, who went on to have an open, Mannix-endorsed affair with Superman star George Reeves, whose death under mysterious circumstances hung a cloud over Mannix's legacy.
