Snorri Steinn var a´ línunni og sagðist heilt yfir vera ánægður með helgina í París en strákarnir fá frí á morgun til að spóka sig um í borg ástarinnar. Einar segir að við getum alveg gert kröfu á að íslenska liðið fari alla leið í undanúrslit á Evrópumótinu miðað við mannskap og mótherja. Heil umferð var í Olísdeild kvenna um helgina og eru Valur og ÍBV ennþá hnífjöfn á toppi deildarinnar en það dróg til tíðinda á botninum. Þetta og svo miklu miklu meira í nýjasta þætti Handkastsins.

Stell dir vor, du wartest dein ganzes Leben oder eine lange Zeit auf einen einzigen Moment. Ein alter Mann im Tempel von Jerusalem erlebt genau das: Maria und Joseph bringen den gerade einmal 40 Tage alten Herrn Jesus zum Tempel, und Simeon darf ihn in seine Arme schließen. In diesem Moment spricht er Worte, die in die Geschichte eingegangen sind: Das „Nunc dimittis ... “ („Nun entlässt du deinen Diener in Frieden“). Doch warum war dieser Ausspruch so erstaunlich? Warum wunderten sich Maria und Joseph so sehr? Und was bedeutet es, das „Heil Gottes“ (griech. sōtērion) leibhaftig zu sehen? Eines der bewegendsten Adventslieder unserer Zeit ist das Lied von Jochen Klepper: "Die Nacht ist vorgedrungen". Dieses Lied hat er 1937 geschrieben. In der Nazizeit lebend, ist ihm und seiner Familie das Leben zur Hölle gemacht worden, weil er eine jüdische Frau geheiratet hatte und sich nicht dazu hinreißen lassen wollte, sich scheiden zu lassen. Seine ältere Tochter konnte noch rechtzeitig ins Exil gehen, aber er, seine Frau und die jüngere Tochter, sind 1942 freiwillig aus dem Leben gegangen.  Mit diesem Wissen klingt der Text seines Liedes noch einmal völlig anders in unseren Ohren:"Die Nacht ist vorgedrungen, der Tag ist nicht mehr fern. So sei nun Lob gesungen dem hellen Morgenstern. Auch wer zur Nacht geweinet, der stimme froh mit ein. Der Morgenstern bescheinet auch deine Angst und Pein.Dem alle Engel dienen, wird nun ein Kind und Knecht. Gott selber ist erschienenzur Sühne für sein Recht. Wer schuldig ist auf Erden, verhüll nicht mehr sein Haupt.Er soll errettet werden, wenn er dem Kinde glaubt.Die Nacht ist schon im Schwinden, macht euch zum Stalle auf! Ihr sollt das Heil dort finden,das aller Zeiten Lauf von Anfang an verkündet, seit eure Schuld geschah.Nun hat sich euch verbündet, den Gott selbst ausersah.Noch manche Nacht wird fallen auf Menschenleid und -schuld. Wer hier dem Sohn vertraute, kommt dort aus dem Gericht."Vertrauen wir dem Sohn Gottes, dessen Geburt wir jedes Jahr so freudig feiern und denken wir aber auch daran, alles zu tun, dass nicht wieder in und von Deutschland aus eine Ideologie hochkommt, die Menschen in Leid und Tod stürzt. 

Johannes der Täufer, sein Leiden und die damit verbundene adventliche Hoffnung rücken heute am 3. Adventssonntag, Gaudete („Freut euch!“), in den Mittelpunkt. Trotz Gefängnis, Gewalt und Ohnmacht bleibt das Himmelreich Ziel und Erfüllung, auf das Menschen hinleben dürfen. Der Advent ist die Einladung, das von Jesus geschenkte Heil persönlich zu ergreifen und dieser Weihnachtszeit eine tiefe, tragende Beziehung zu geben. Darüber spricht Weihbischof Karlheinz Diez aus Fulda.

Nicht sich zu retten, sondern die Menschen zum Heil zu führen, das war der Auftrag Jesu. Wenn er sich selbst gerettet hätten, dann hätte er erst gar nicht erst kommen brauchen. Auch die Soldaten verspotteten ihn; sie traten vor ihn hin, reichten ihm Essig und sagten: Wenn du der König der Juden bist, dann rette dich selbst! Über ihm war eine Aufschrift angebracht: Das ist der König der Juden. Einer der Verbrecher, die neben ihm hingen, verhöhnte ihn: Bist du denn nicht der Christus? Dann rette dich selbst und auch uns! Der andere aber wies ihn zurecht und sagte: Nicht einmal du fürchtest Gott? Dich hat doch das gleiche Urteil getroffen. Uns geschieht recht, wir erhalten den Lohn für unsere Taten; dieser aber hat nichts Unrechtes getan. Dann sagte er: Jesus, denk an mich, wenn du in dein Reich kommst! Jesus antwortete ihm: Amen, ich sage dir: Heute noch wirst du mit mir im Paradies sein. Ahead of SailGP's first ever event in Germany, Lisa Darmanin sits down with Germany By Deutche Bank's Driver Erik Heil.

In this one, Cody talks with Eric Heil. He's an educator and a legendary Arctic Man competitor. Alongside his longtime snowmachine partner, Len Story, Eric won five times. He started competing in Arctic Man in 1990 at the age of 30, and from the beginning, he immersed himself in the event — not just as an athlete, but as part of the crew. He helped with course safety and setting up markers at First Aid, the critical release point where the skier detaches from the snowmachine at the top of the uphill tow. He was the first skier to break the five-minute barrier, clocking in at exactly four minutes — an Arctic Man record at the time. It would take 30 years before anyone broke four minutes, something he attributes to better snow conditions, evolving course design, improved equipment and a rising level of competition.  He was also one of the first racers to bring a technical mindset to the event, experimenting with waxes, analyzing the terrain, monitoring snow temperatures, tracking weather patterns, adjusting his line based on changing snowpack, and timing his transitions to maximize speed and efficiency throughout the course. After nearly three decades of running the course — his last race was in 2018 — Eric says he's run it more than anyone else.  Eric's path to becoming a high-speed athlete started early. He learned to ski when he was just four years old, and by six he was skijoring. That early exposure to speed and unpredictability planted the seed for a lifelong pursuit of elite competition. In college, he raced for the University of Alaska Anchorage and set his sights on becoming a world champion downhiller. As a world-class athlete, he was comfortable reaching 90 miles per hour on his skis. That kind of speed requires more than just fearlessness — it demands focus, precision and the ability to see what isn't always visible. Eric says downhill skiers rely heavily on visualization because when you're racing across long stretches of terrain at speeds so fast they blur your vision, you can't always react in real time — you have to anticipate. That means memorizing every feature of the course ahead of time and trusting your muscle memory to guide you through. He says that even now, he can close his eyes and mentally replay the details of every downhill course he's ever raced.
