Es liegen systematische Übersichtsarbeiten vor, insbesondere zu Essverhalten, Körperbild und psychischem Wohlbefinden. Begrenzter ist die Evidenz dafür, dass intuitive Ernährung langfristig zu einer relevanten Gewichtsabnahme oder automatisch zum Normalgewicht führt. Auch die Aussage, dass nach fünf Jahren über 90 Prozent der Menschen wieder ihr Ausgangsgewicht erreichen oder darüber liegen, ist in dieser Allgemeingültigkeit nicht ausreichend belegt. Gewichtszunahmen nach Diäten sind häufig, die Ergebnisse unterscheiden sich aber je nach Intervention, Personengruppe und Nachbetreuung deutlich. Zum Einfluss von Alkohol auf die Muskelproteinsynthese – ab 00:27:33 Die im Podcast genannten 10 bis 20 Prozent stimmen nicht mit der vermutlich gemeinten Studie überein. Nach einer sehr hohen Alkoholzufuhr von 1,5 Gramm pro Kilogramm Körpergewicht war die Muskelproteinsynthese trotz Proteinzufuhr etwa 24 Prozent und bei Alkohol plus Kohlenhydraten etwa 37 Prozent geringer. Untersucht wurde die kurzfristige Muskelproteinsynthese, nicht der langfristige Muskelaufbau. Ein einzelnes Bier macht eine Trainingseinheit dennoch nicht wertlos. Zum Zusammenhang zwischen Schlafmangel und Energieaufnahme – ab 01:33:50 Die genannten 300 bis 400 zusätzlichen Kilokalorien beziehen sich nicht auf jede einzelne Stunde Schlafmangel. Eine Meta-Analyse zeigte unter experimentell verkürzten Schlafbedingungen im Durchschnitt eine etwa 385 Kilokalorien höhere tägliche Energieaufnahme als unter normalen Schlafbedingungen. Zum Einfluss von Hormonen auf das Abnehmen – ab 01:50:36 Hormone sind nicht lediglich eine Folge des Lebensstils. Besonders während der Menopause können hormonelle Veränderungen Körperzusammensetzung, Fettverteilung, Appetit und möglicherweise den Energieverbrauch beeinflussen. Schickt uns eine Nachricht Arzneipflanzen werden seit Jahrhunderten eingesetzt, um Krankheiten bei Mensch und Tier vorzubeugen und zu behandeln. Auch heute setzen viele Landwirt*innen sie auf ihren Betrieben ein. In dieser Podcastfolge zeigen Michael Walkenhorst und Michelle Krügel, wie traditionelles Wissen und moderne Forschung zusammenwirken und welche Bedeutung Arzneipflanzen für die Tiergesundheit haben können. Arzneipflanzen enthalten nicht nur einen einzelnen Wirkstoff, sondern eine Vielzahl verschiedener Inhaltsstoffe. Diese können an unterschiedlichen Stellen im Körper wirken und sich gegenseitig ergänzen. Genau darin sehen Forschende einen wichtigen Vorteil gegenüber isolierten Wirkstoffen. Michael Walkenhorst erklärt, dass etwa bei Magen-Darm-Erkrankungen meist mehrere Beschwerden gleichzeitig auftreten. Deshalb sei es von Vorteil, wenn eine Arzneipflanze wie die Kamille nicht nur Krämpfe lindere, sondern zugleich entzündungshemmend wirke. Gleichzeitig machen diese komplexen Wirkstoffgemische die wissenschaftliche Untersuchung anspruchsvoll. Moderne Analysen tragen jedoch dazu bei, die Wirkmechanismen traditionell genutzter Arzneipflanzen immer besser zu verstehen.Bewährte Pflanzen für die landwirtschaftliche PraxisStudien des FiBL zeigen, dass auf Schweizer Tierhaltungsbetrieben vor allem bekannte Arzneipflanzen wie Kamille, Ringelblume, Johanniskraut oder Brennnessel verwendet werden. Viele Anwendungen werden innerhalb der Familie weitergegeben, andere stammen aus Fachbüchern oder Kursen. Gleichzeitig zeigen die Erhebungen, wie unterschiedlich Dosierungen und Anwendungen in der Praxis ausfallen können.Praktische Tipps für den EinstiegMichelle Krügel empfiehlt für den Einstieg insbesondere Thymian, Brennnessel und Bitterstoffpflanzen wie Löwenzahn. Letzteren bezeichnet sie im Podcast als «Omo der Körperzellen», weil er den Stoffwechsel unterstütze und den Körper beim «Putzen und Reinigen» helfe. Zudem erklärt sie, wie diese Pflanzen beispielsweise als Tee, Heu oder Inhalation eingesetzt werden können und worauf bei der Anwendung geachtet werden sollte. For most of the last century, gardeners were taught to cultivate their soil after every rain to conserve moisture, to think of plant roots as lone competitors, and to treat "plant communication" as science fiction. All of that was built on the best evidence available at the time, and all of it has been revised, in some cases more than once, as better tools let researchers see what earlier generations simply could not. In this episode, we walk through four real case studies of plant science changing its mind. Der Posthumanismus geht vor allem in seinen radikaleren Ausprägungen noch weiter: Er kritisiert den Anthropozentrismus und entwirft eine Form der Hybridisierung zwischen Mensch, Maschine und Umwelt. Das geht bis zur Vorstellung, dass dabei eine Schwelle überschritten wird, an der die Menschheit sich selbst überwindet und in eine neue Evolutionsstufe eintritt. Auch wenn diese Hypothesen weitgehend spekulativ bleiben, gewinnen sie an Relevanz, weil sie die kollektive Vorstellungswelt verändern und folglich soziale, wirtschaftliche und politische Entscheidungen beeinflussen. 129 117. Im Lichte der Soziallehre ist der kritische Punkt hier nicht der Einsatz der Technik als solcher, sondern die ihr zugrundeliegende Auffassung: Wenn der Mensch als Material behandelt wird, das man vervollkommnen oder überwinden muss, dann wird es leichter akzeptabel, dass einige Menschen als weniger nützlich, weniger liebenswert, weniger würdig angesehen werden. Im Namen des Fortschritts kann man „notwendige Opfer in Betracht ziehen und so die Schwächsten den Preis für eine vermeintliche Optimierung der Spezies zahlen lassen. Die bereits erwähnte Warnung des heiligen Paul VI. ist daher von bleibender Weitsicht: In der Tat werden sich die Errungenschaften von Wissenschaft und Technik, wenn sie nicht mit einem moralischen und sozialen Fortschritt einhergehen, letztlich gegen den Menschen richten. 130 Deshalb muss klar unterschieden werden: Es ist eine Sache, Technologien in eine menschliche und beziehungsorientierte Sicht zu integrieren; etwas ganz anderes ist es, sich von einer Vorstellungswelt leiten zu lassen, die Begrenztheit herabwürdigt und ein rein technisches „Heil verheißt."

Alden Hellmuth is a NY based saxophonist and composer. Following her acclaimed 2024 debut album Good Intentions, Hellmuth returns with the aptly titled Tether, an eight-track exploration of jazz, punk and freeform improvisation. Alden share's the inspiration behind the new direction and sound on Tether, what it was like writing for two basses and how mixing and processing played a role on not only in the production, but the composition as well. The two discuss the significance of texture in Alden's recordings and she unpacks the personel that contributed to Tethers ambiance. Nick Thorburn is the singer and founding member The Creem, a new collaborative project with Ratatat's guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Mike Stroud.
