In the final episode of 2024, Amanda is inspired by a conversation with her friend Janelle to explore board games that teach children (and adults) the “winner takes all” aspect of late stage capitalism and/or reinforce the message that success=stuff. We'll take a journey through the history of board games, with a deep dive into the Game of Life. We'll check out the shopping focused games of the 1980s and 90s, including Mall Madness. We will touch on some other games that just seem agonizing for adults to play, like Payday (too real). And we'll explore the origin story of Monopoly, along with all of the other games that (accidentally or otherwise) seem to reinforce dumb ideas like the bootstrap myth.Amanda also talks about what a "no buy year" means to her (and somehow ties into board games, because why not). This episode also includes an audio essay from Eleisha of SHIFT, a refillery in Narberth, PA. I was so excited to talk to Eleisha Clayton of Pink Girl Media about being your true self. So many times, especially as new entrepreneurs, we try to imitate people who already have it all figured out, but the truly successful don’t imitate ANYONE. They work every day to be true to who they are in order to build a life they love. That’s exactly what Eleisha and I talk about. We also have a super honest conversation about anxiety and depression and how hard it is to be a mom. This conversation was so fun, even though we talk about a lot of deep subjects. If you’ve ever wanted to be in on a girly conversation, this one is the best!Eleisha Clayton is a mom, podcast host, and social media manager. Instagram is her jam and she’s also a Facebook fan! She takes social media off of the plate of lady entrepreneurs, so they can have time do the the things they love to do in their business. Eleisha is a connector by nature and loves to be creative. She also has a Master’s degree in technology and experience in editing. She is a former special education teacher and loves all things girl power!Join us over in the Facebook group, Live with Audacity Podcast Insiders at https://www.facebook.com/groups/LivewithAudacity/ We’re reading the book, Rising Strong by Brene Brown.Find Eleisha:Website: https://www.pinkgirlmedia.com/Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/pink-girl-podcast/id1462087324Insta: https://www.instagram.com/pinkgirlmedia/Support the show (https://mmstuartco.com/livewithaudacity/)
Wonders and Miracles podcast is a show dedicated to the miraculous moments in everyday lives. Each episode features awe inspiring true stories from regular people that have had a Divine encounter. Today, we will hear from two people that were missionaries living in foreign countries preaching the gospel to strangers. While both felt lonely at times, being so far away from home, they had experiences that showed them that they were not alone and God knew them, supported them, and loved them individually. Trazhgim, from Albania, shares his experience of being converted to Christianity when he was just fourteen years old. While on a mission, he miraculously sees his own baptism picture hanging on the wall of a seventy-year-old woman in Wales. Eleisha, was a missionary in Halle, Germany. She calls this the city of angels because she could feel the presence of her great grandmother supporting her. If any of you have been on a mission trip you might relate to these stories. These are both beautiful stories of God’s awareness of all His children. Thanks for joining me in the movement that miracles still happen. Visit www.wondersandmiracles.com for more stories. Deena and Eleisha, the co-founders of Mind Hatchery and creators of the Dreamkeepers Box say they have a responsibility to educate America about American History, which consist of African American leaders such as Mary Bowser, Lonnie Johnson and Mae Jemison to name a few. These names may not be as familiar as Alexander Hamilton, Paul Revere or Ben Franklin, but they have made significant contributions to the fabric of America. Through Deena's and Eleisha's monthly subscription, Dreamkeepers Box, your entire family can become familiar with American inventors and leaders who receive little to no mention.
