Quick Quote - Source - Jeff HillesA Biblical Christian worldview perspective - Some live for a short time, some for a long time. Some of us live a largely pain-free life and others, sadly, live in constant pain and suffering. Some have an abundance of resources at their command and others barely have the shirt on their back. Though arguably important during our life, in death, none of the above matters. In fact, because God's ways are above our ways (Isaiah 55:8), often those with less on earth will gain more in the beyond (James 2:5). If one truly believes a personal relationship with Jesus and, subsequently, serving God is more important than longevity in life... it should make a profound difference in our day-to-day priorities.

Love must be our highest goal because when love is no longer our priority, and when love has been drained out of our hearts, the measure of God in our lives will start depleting. Without love, everything we do is meaningless.

In 2023, I'm focusing on questions. This idea came from a variety of sources I've been diving into lately. It was discussed in a book I was recently reintroduced to called A More Beautiful Question and in a course I recently took. In another book I read, The Highest Goal by Michael Ray, he talked about not focusing so much on goals but on questions. Ray calls these questions “live withs.” I've been drawn to this idea of using questions rather than goals because too many of us tend to race to one answer or the other. Doing that just narrows our field of vision. I don't think our goal should be to see how many answers we can find but, rather, to ask good questions. In this episode, I'm diving more into this topic and sharing some of the questions I'm asking myself in 2023 both regarding my personal and business life. We'll dive deeper into these concepts: More on why I'm asking questions rather than setting goals for 2023. My personal questions for the new year. How I figured out where I can serve with the greatest value in 2023. The key demographic issues for Encore Careers. How I'm using my knowledge of transitions and developing purpose to help people. Everything that happens in your life affects your ability to be healthy, to be well, and to be yourself. It's integral to connect clinical experiences to lived experiences happening outside of the doctor's office- in our communities, families, and neighborhoods. Kellan Baker reminds us that patients are experts in themselves and should be respected as partners in their healthcare journey. Listen as he shares with us the highest goal of health equity is to be fully ourselves. It makes it possible for everyone to be who they are and receive quality and equitable care based on their individual needs defined by their identities, bodies, and circumstances in life. Kellan challenges us to see all the possibilities available when all people have access to benefits, protections, and resources that allow us to be our healthiest. This season is brought to you in collaboration with ZERO- The End of Prostate Cancer (ZERO). This builds upon the Promoting Health Equity in Cancer Care: A Virtual Workshop hosted by The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) which was co-chaired by Gwen Darien of NPAF and Reggie Tucker-Seeley of ZERO.

When it comes to making birth plans, safety is often a top-of-mind concern. This leads into the concept of understanding and weighing risks, real or perceived, and looking around for strategies, protocols and practitioners who we feel will minimize risk and ensure saftey. But what if, like my flock of chickens locked up too long in a small chicken run, the parameters we put into place to protect ourselves and our babies end up costing us something(s) even more valuable? Tune into this episode to unpack the myths of safety and risk, in which a real-life metaphor from Brooke's experience of chicken keeping ends up being a helpful framework. (Who would have thought?!) In this audio, Swami Mukundananda gives us the knowledge that will help us reach the highest goal of our life. To accomplish our goals, we need to take charge of our life. Otherwise, our uncontrollable mind and senses can take us in the direction they want. Listen to find out more about how knowledge of the self can help us control our mind and senses.
Episode #88 - You probably set goals for your finances, your career, and other parts of life. But what is the highest goal? What's the motivation that we all strive towards beyond all those specific goals? Well, smart thinkers like Aristotle in ancient Greece and Abraham Maslow in the 20th century had recommendations for this highest goal. I unpack their ideas in this short "big idea" episode of the podcast. --------------------------
You know those four letter words that slip out in a moment of frustration? You hit your thumb with the hammer, your team lose in the last minute of the game, you drop your iPhone in the toilet. Well... we say they ‘slip out’...in reality they come from a deeper place. So maybe we should dive deeper and explore some other four letter words. When these words reside in you, they can change the way you move through life. We might think the things that we say don’t really matter, but if we’re honest, they point to what is going on inside. So we thought it might be a good idea to focus on a few positive four letter words, words that could change the way we react and relate to each other, even the way we see our lives...
Yesterday I saw a youtube video by Caleb maddix who became a millionaire by `16 and his business partner. And they were explaining how exactly they hit the two comma club award at ages 17 and 19. But this one mindset shift they talked about literally flipped all my goals upside down... And I share that today

Jesus Christ lived with the work of the Father as His highest goal to the very end of his life. This work was the salvation of souls.----Looking at this we should come to the realization of our highest goal in life, the salvation of souls. First our own, then as many as we can possibly reach in our lifetime.----John 4-31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, -Rabbi, eat.---John 4-32 But He said to them, -I have food to eat of which you do not know.---John 4-33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, -Has anyone brought Him anything to eat----John 4-34 Jesus said to them, -My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.----Thus we join with Jesus in living to finish our highest goal. The work and ministry of saving souls. Let's look at this powerful life altering truth together.----Join us as we continue on this journey together through the Gospel of John. We encourage you to invite a friend, or a home group of friends, to listen with you.
