My guest on today's episode, Juan Pablo Guzman, shared how his sister's health struggles inspired the family to reconnect with real food, creating snacks that nourish both people and the planet.“Our whole family went on this collective journey of reconnecting to real food,” Juan explained, adding, “We became passionate about using food as a way to heal ourselves, our communities, and our planet.” Artisan Tropic launched in 2014 with plantain and cassava chips and recently expanded to include grain-free crackers made from cassava and plantain flour. But Artisan Tropic is about more than just snacks. Juan's commitment to sustainability and regenerative agriculture sets the company apart. He described their efforts to work directly with small farmers in Colombia, implementing farming practices that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and fair wages. “Regenerative agriculture is really just doing things the way our grandparents did them,” he said. “It's farming in a way that supports life on the farm—soil life, plant life, and biodiversity.”In 2021, Artisan Tropic piloted a regenerative farming project on a family farm, integrating crops like plantain, cacao, and coffee. Now, through a partnership with Acceso, Artisan Tropic is scaling this model, supporting over 4,000 farmers with technical training, small loans, and guaranteed crop markets. “Within two years of working with Acceso, farmers are making twice as much as they used to,” Juan noted.Artisan Tropic is currently raising capital through a regulated investment crowdfunding campaign on WeFunder. The funds will help the company expand its retail presence with partners like Whole Foods and Costco. “What better way to put your money to work,” Juan asked, “not just for a financial return, but also for the triple impact that your investment unlocks in our supply system?”Listening to Juan's story, it's hard not to feel inspired. As Juan explained, “My love for my family is my superpower. I try to be present. I try to love and I try to listen.” This unwavering commitment to family has shaped Artisan Tropic's mission, inspired its founding, and continues to influence how Juan leads the company. His dedication to creating a better food system stems from a desire to leave a legacy for his children and future generations.Illustrative Story:Juan shared a touching story about how his family's bond deepened over time. While living in New Mexico, he and his sister dreamed of being closer as a family. When Juan moved to Dallas, his sister, her family, and their parents followed, creating a close-knit community where their children could grow up together. “There's nothing that makes me happier than seeing the cousins playing together,” he said. This family cohesion inspires Juan to build a company that reflects their shared values of love, health, and sustainability.Tips for Developing This Superpower:Prioritize Presence: Be fully engaged with your loved ones by putting away distractions like phones.Foster Connection: Create opportunities to spend meaningful time with family, even across distances.Lead with Love: Let your love for family guide your decisions, personally and professionally.Think Generationally: Consider how your actions today can impact future generations.By following Juan's example and advice, you can make love for family a skill. LESSON 274Today Belongs To Love. Let Me Not Fear.Father, today I would let all things be as You created them, and give Your Son the honor due his sinlessness; the love of brother to his brother and his Friend. Through this I am redeemed. Through this as well the truth will enter where illusions were, light will replace all darkness, and Your Son will know he is as You created him.A special blessing comes to us today, from Him Who is our Father. Give this day to Him, and there will be no fear today, because the day is given unto Love.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

The ever-present and always hot button issue here in the US: Immigration. Be it legal, illegal, or historical; we just can't seem to stop arguing over it. For that reason, we're joined today by someone who grew up in a split migrant family, who can give us some honest perspective.   Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts.   My guest today is Lupe Christensen. Lupe was without a father or mother for most of her first decade of life; because they were forced to flee their home country to try and provide the minimal quality of life for their children. And as with many immigration topics, so often it is boiled down to what is illegally happening at the southern boarder; but the truth is that American citizens are truly struggling with some of the same problems just trying to bring their legal spouses and children into the states. ( https://a.co/d/7uzcCHq take you to: Www.Amazon.Com "Where Money Grows on Trees: An Immigrant's Journey of Courage, Resilience, and Love" )  Let's change our point of view!  Hopefully this has opened your eyes a bit, if you've never considered the contained lifestyle. I know so many of us today have friends that are immigrants from one country or another, and it can be very hard.    In ranking news... June is halfway over, and the global ranks are updated: 1. The United States, with Florida, California, and Wisconsin at the top.  2. England of the United Kingdom, just barely over Scotland.  3. Canada, with Ontario just barely ahead of British Columbia.  4. Australia, with Queensland and Victoria tied.  5. New Zealand, just ahead of the Netherlands and Denmark.  That's it for this week! Have a great week, a great weekend, and I'll see you all back here next week for another new episode!  Until the next episode, pretty please do all the things to help the show: rate, review, like, and subscribe.  Reach out to DumbEnoughPodcast@Gmail.Com or on any social media if you want to reach me personally.  Most importantly, Stay Dumb!  #Podcast #Education #Immigrant #MigrantCamp #Mexico

You would be forgiven for thinking this is a Valentine's Day post given the title I've chosen. It is about love but with a twist. This blog post is about loving life again when chronic illness takes away things we have always loved but can no longer do. It's about love and losses. It's my musings about acceptance being the gateway to a new life. Acceptance is not a sad resignation. It's the pathway to peace, happiness, and freedom from prolonged grief. Sam Moss For me, acceptance is acknowledging my disabling rare disease “is what it is”. It's part of me, but it's not all of me. I have formed strategies over the past ten years to adjust to my change in circumstances and to live a contented life. www.mymedmusings.com

This weekend we continue in our series called PERFECT LOVE. In this series we are praying that everyone in our church experiences the power of perfect love. In order to follow Jesus you can't just know about Him, you need to know him personally. This requires that you meet Him and respond to His love and forgiveness. In the letter of 1 John we are learning about the nature of this fellowship or relationship with God through Jesus. This week we come to the difficult topic of Love. Not love for God but love for other believers. This is hard because other believers are not perfect and act, at times, in ways that make them hard to love. John pushes us past our issues with others behavior, to act like the Disciples of Jesus that we are. This means that we will be able to love each other well even when we don't behave well. Jesus puts His life in us and that life makes us soft hearted towards other believers even when they hurt us. Join us this weekend as we continue to focus on LOVE, God's love transforming us into the children of God that we are. For Scripture, notes, upcoming events, & more: http://bible.com/events/49141479

Full show notes at www.LearningLeader.com Twitter/IG: @RyanHawk12   https://twitter.com/RyanHawk12 Consistency creates your future. Show up each day and do the work. Sounds simple, but it's much harder in practice. Consistency is not sexy, but it builds trust and it creates your future. T.U.N.E. -  T = Trust and truth  U = Unite with love N = Neutralize the negativity. “I do not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.” - Gandhi E = Elevate your thinking. With gratitude, optimism, and belief How to handle imposter syndrome - One sheet of paper. On one side write your negative thoughts. On the other side write words of encouragement. Again, this sounds basic, but it's been proven to work. Navigate the Roller Coaster of our Mind: Take on our challenges in life with confidence and power instead of fear and insecurity. Recognize & Overcome the Five Ds of Negative Thought: Doubt, Distortion, Discouragement, Distraction, and Division. The root of the Greek word for anxious means “to separate and divide” When we are anxious, we feel divided. The key is to move towards “oneness”. Tune into More Positive Thoughts: Jon explains a revolutionary idea that the brain is an antenna, and we can elevate our minds with proven strategies. For example, we can't be stressed and thankful at the same time. When we appreciate, we elevate. Override Fear with Love: Let love (the ultimate driver of grit) be the driving force behind our work and vocation, unlocking new levels of determination, devotion and success. Improve Mental Health & Relationships: Move from disconnection, loneliness and isolation to connection, healing, and wholeness. Whether you're a recent graduate, executive, artist, parent, engineer, teacher, spouse, athlete or coach, once you know The One Truth, you'll see how it impacts leadership, teamwork, mindset, performance, relationships, addictions, social media, anxiety, mental health and your overall quality of life. Bad teams = nobody leads. Average teams = coaches lead. Elite teams = players lead Change management -- People follow the leader first and the vision second. People won't care about your vision if you don't care about them. “Thoughts are magnetic. What we think about we attract.” Goals: "It's not your goals that will lead to your success but your commitment to the process." "The best teams don't focus on winning championships. They focus on being champions. This leads to championships." “When leaders become focused on the fruit instead of the root and worry about the outcome instead of the process of developing team members, they may survive in the short run, but they will not thrive in the long run.” “As a leader, it is so important that your words equal your actions. It is imperative that you make sure that you go through a self-evaluation process on an almost daily basis to make sure that your actions are in line with your words. You must do what you say and say what you do.” “There's a difference between culture and having a theme for the year. A theme does not equal culture. Too many schools/org move from theme to theme instead of building a culture. Utilize a theme as a tool to help you build a great culture.” “They asked a bunch of ninety-five-year-olds if they could do it all over again and live their life again what would they do differently. The three things that almost all of them said were: (1) They would reflect more. Enjoy more moments. More sunrises and sunsets. More moments of joy. (2) They would take more risks and chances. Life is too short not to go for it. (3) They would have left a legacy. Something that would live on after they die.” 00:35 - Lessons from Athletics 05:29 - Struggling With Adversity As a Child 07:47 - Building a Life-Changing Team from The Energy Bus 15:08 - Fear That Comes With Imposter Syndrome 20:54 - Transition from Self-Talk to Action 31:05 - How to React to Skeptics 36:14 - View Life as a Movie 40:25 - Leadership Qualities That Are Repetitive 44:18 - Advice for the Younger Generation 47:48 - Early is On Time
