Matthew 5 says that we, as believers, are like the salt of the earth, but flavorless salt is good for nothing.   2025 is only days old and we've seen a several terrorist attacks, fires that look like an apocalypse... if ever we needed the Lord before, surely we need Him Now! Join us as we discuss the analogy and significance of salt.  Are we providing the Godly efficacy in the earth that we were called to?  Are we preserving righteousness?  Are we purifying the earth?  Is our light piercing the darkness?   You are the Salt of the earth but if the salt has lost its flavor What Are You Good For?

Mark 10:46-52 (ESV) And they came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; he is calling you.” And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way. This took place a week before Jesus' death, being his last miracle. The beggar called out, “Son of David, have mercy on me,” indicating His royal origin Messianic title describing Jesus Christ as man, a savior of His people. This is who the beggar believed Jesus to be. Isaiah 11:1-3a (NIV) “A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord— and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.” Jesus responds to my faith. “There is a sound I love to hear It's the sound of the Saviour's robe As He walks into the room where people pray Where we hear praises He hears faith” Jewish people believed illness and disability was a punishment from God because of personal sin committed. “Be silent”, was their response. In their opinion, he didn't deserve to have Jesus listen to him. Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV) For we live by faith, not by sight. James 2:17 (NIRV) It is the same with faith. If it doesn't cause us to do something, it's dead. Praise is an expression of our faith. Faith causes us to act on what we know, not on what is seen. Ill. Dylan jumping off a stump. Jesus responds to my posture. “Awake my soul and sing Sing His praise aloud sing His praise aloud Oh awake my soul and sing Sing His praise aloud sing His praise aloud. There is a sound that changes things The sound of His people on their knees Oh wake up you slumbering It's time to worship Him” Now why is it amazing that he throws off his cloak? Well, for most people living in first century Palestine, a person's cloak was their most valuable possession. Cloaks were expensive, thick, heavy garments, and the average person could only afford one. They weren't simply outer garments meant to be worn outdoors, nor were they fashion statements. Cloaks were functional, multipurpose garments. In addition to functioning as a coat in cold weather, they were also used as a blanket at nighttime. And, for a blind beggar like Bartimaeus, he most likely spread his cloak out in front of him during the daytime to collect any coins or loose change that passerbys might toss his way. His cloak represented a way of life for him. He had learned to cope and survive in an existence devoid of intimacy, connection, kindness and care. He leaves his cloak on the ground, trusts Jesus fully to heal him. The road is crowded and he is blind. He will be in dire straits if his cloak is kicked along or stolen. My attention is drawn to the posture of Bartimaeus in two ways: 1.Heart Posture “Awake my soul and sing” Hebrews 13:15 (ESV) Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Psalm 71:8 (ESV) My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. Isaiah 25:1 (ESV) O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure. Psalm 103:1 (ESV) Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Physical Posture “The sound of His people on their knees” Quote: “Your heart is caught up in the experience of the moment, which causes your body to respond outwardly. We were created as holistic beings with intellects, emotions, and bodies all working in concert with one another to express ourselves.” Kneeling Psalm 95:6 (ESV) Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! Lifting Up Hands Psalm 63:3-4 (ESV) Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as live;in your name I will lift up my hands. Dancing Psalm 149:3 (NIRV) Let them praise his name with dancing. Let them make music to him with harps and tambourines. Clapping Hands Psalm 47:1 (NIV) Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. Shouting Psalm 71:23 (NIRV) My lips will shout with joy when I sing praise to you. You have saved me. Praising In Tongues 1 Corinthains 14:1-2 (ESV) Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. Laying Prostrate Numbers 20:6 (ESV) Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the entrance of the tent of meeting and fell on their faces. And the glory of the Lord appeared to them Revelation 7:11 (ESV) And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God Matthew 26:39 (ESV) And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” We value the presence of God in this house. Why do you think we invite you to join us up front to worship? Jesus responds to my request. “And when He moves and when we pray Where stood a wall now stands a way Where every promise is amen (it is so) And when He moves make no mistake The bowels of hell begin to shake All hail the Lord all hail the King” Luke 18:40 “And when he came near, he asked himAtmosphere/circumstances shift through worship inspired by our faith and posture. 1 Corinthians 24-5 (NIV) 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power. Ephesians 3:20 (NIRV) God is able to do far more than we could ever ask for or imagine. He does everything by his power that is working in us. Hebrews 11:6 (ESV) And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. FAITH IS POWER! Revelation 5:11-14 (NIRV) Then I looked and heard the voice of millions and millions of angels. They surrounded the throne. They surrounded the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying, “The Lamb, who was put to death, is worthy! He is worthy to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength! He is worthy to receive honor and glory and praise!” All creatures in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and on the sea were speaking. The whole creation was speaking. I heard all of them say, “Praise and honor belong to the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb! Glory and power belong to God for ever and ever!” The four living creatures said, “Amen.” And the elders fell down and worshiped.

In Revelation 6:1-8, John recorded the opening of the first four seals; and as each seal was opened, one of the four living creatures summoned a rider on a horse. The first thing John sees is a rider on four horses of different colors. We believe that the rider on the first white horse is the Antichrist. Jesus prophesied about this in in His Olivet Discourse to His Disciples after they ask Him: “Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" (Matthew 24:3) The very first thing He said was: “And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.” (Matthew 24:4-5) We need to remember that the signs and events that Jesus described all pointed to His coming to the earth at the end of the tribulation. Daniel states that there is a "prince that shall come," who will make a covenant with Israel to protect her from her enemies (Dan. 9:26-27). In other words, the future world dictator begins his career as a peacemaker! But then the “second living creature” summons the next horse which is colored fiery red. This worldwide peace will not last long, for while men are saying "Peace and safety," terrible wars will break loose. This parallels Matthew 24:6-7. “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” Red is a color associated with terror and carnage. In Revelation we have the red horse of war (6:3-4), the red dragon (12:3), and the red beast (17:3). Note that God gives Antichrist authority to take peace from the earth; this is all a part of the divine plan. Antichrist exchanges his arrowless bow for a great sword, and men begin to kill each other. This indicates clearly that methods of international agreement and diplomacy will not bring lasting peace. Red is also a picture of wanton bloodshed. War has been a part of man's experience since Cain killed Abel, so this image would speak to believers in every age, reminding them that God is ultimately in control, even though He is not responsible for the lawless deeds of men and nations. Romans chapter 1 tells us that when mankind choses to reject the knowledge of the Creator God, that God “gives them up”, or in other words, He turns them over to the consequences of their evil deeds. And evil is let loose on the earth. Right now, we have the events of the war in Ukraine unfolding before our very eyes. With today's media technology, we can see events anywhere in the world happening within seconds before our very eyes. This week especially as we see the decapitated bodies lying in the streets and the bloodshed we are confronted with the horrors of war! And we cry out for someone to do something about it! The stage is set for the Antichrist to be revealed with his promise of peace! But when he breaks his peace treaty with Israel and declares himself to be God and attempt to set up his one-world religion, the earth will see bloodshed like it has never seen! With the absence of believers on earth and the release of demon forces there will be evil, terrible destruction and bloodshed everywhere! Thank the Lord, if you have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, you will not have to be here to experience this terrible evil time!

Greetings! Welcome to the show! It's good to have you with us. Our passage today comes from the book of John; chapter 1, verses 43-44. It reads… John 1:43-44 (NIV)— 43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.” 44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. We have been talking in recent weeks about the reality that anytime Jesus has truly touched our life; anytime we have truly experienced who He is and what He has done for us, our immediate response is always to go out and find somebody else that needs His touch on theirlives. And the next disciple Jesus calls also has this same spirit. If you have your Bibles, go ahead and look with me, starting at verse 43… John 1:43a (NIV)— 43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Galilee of the Gentiles-- Now Galilee was a highly unusual place for a good Jewish Rabbi to begin His ministry. Because way back in the Old Testament, Israel (if you remember) was carried away into captivity by Assyria. So when the Jews in Galilee were carried away, they were “replaced by a colony of pagan immigrants (2 Ki 15:29; 17:24). That is why it became known as “Galilee of the Nations” or “Galilee of the Gentiles” (Isa 9:1; Mt 4:13, 15–16). Now even though Jews returned to Galilee after the captivity, it still remained predominantly Gentile and therefore was (in the Jewish mind) unclean. And so, because of that pagan influence, you could tell a Galilean by his accent (John 26:73). And this unholy mix “caused the southern Jews of ‘purer' blood and orthodox tradition to despise the Galileans (Jn 1:46; 7:52).” Why Galilee? It Was Dark-- So why would a good Jewish Rabbi, much less the Messiah; the Son of God choose this region as the place to begin His ministry? I read an author some time ago who said that [Galilee's very darkness was the Lord's reason for granting more of the light of his presence and ministry to this region than to self-satisfied and privileged Judea. Christ was sent for “a light for the Gentiles” (Isa 42:6), as well as to the “lost sheep of Israel” (Mt 15:24). {He said} Galilee's very debasement made some of its people feel more acutely their need of the Savior.] Jesus Comes to Those Whose Hearts Ache for Him-- Now you know what that says to me. Jesus comes to those whose hearts are aching for Him. He will not come first to those who feel satisfied. No, He comes to those who (having come to the realization that they are lost without Him) cry out for His touch. And even while that cry is still on our lips, He is already in our midst. Now we don't have Philip's backstory and therefore we don't know why Jesus came to Philip; all we know is that Jesus intentionally goes to Galilee and apparently seeks Philip out. And it says in… John 1:43b (NIV)— Finding Philip, he {(Jesus)} said to him, “Follow me.” He will find you-- And what this shows us is that no matter who we are; where we live; what it is we are going through or what it is we are struggling with; when our hearts cry out for Jesus, He will find us. And He will lift us up. Now it says of Philip… John 1:44 (NIV)— 44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. The Disciples from Bethsaida-- And actually Andrew, James the Elder, the Apostle John, Simon Peter, and Philip were all from Bethsaida, though Peter and Andrew had re-located to Capernaum.  In Mark 1:21,29 we find that Andrew lived with his brother Peter and Peter's wife in Peter's house (remember Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law in Mark 1:31; she was staying with them). And this house has been discovered and you can go and see it today. Fishing Villages-- Now both Bethsaida and Capernaum were fishing villages on the northern coast of Galilee. In fact [Bethsaida means “house of fishing”] Sounds like my kind of place. And I have been to the coast of Galilee and witnessed the people there still fishing those same waters. And I got to eat some of that fish in a restaurant there. I prefer my fish headless; this one was not. I don't particularly like food that looks back at me while I am eating it. But nevertheless it was fascinating to me to watch the people there (millennia later) still bringing forth that harvest from the sea in order to sell and trade. And these fishing villages (like Bethsaida and Capernaum [were important places because they resided on the main highway (the Via Maris or Way of the Sea) that brought traffic from the coastal hills of Judea to the northern regions of the country.] And so they did not only sell fresh fish locally, but exported fish as well. In fact, one of Bethsaida's chief exports was dried fresh-water fish. During that time you had only tilapia, sardines, and eel in the Sea of Galilee. And eel was unclean to eat. You will remember that in the feeding of the five thousand (which took place only about 9 miles away from Bethsaida) a small boy approaches with five loaves and two small fish; and those two fish were most likely a couple of these dried sardines; a little protein to go along with his bread. And so we see that many of the disciples have this kind of industry in their background; most likely Philip as well. So this is the kind of place where Philip grew up. Imagine This-- Now imagine this. Jesus walks up to Philip and probably greets him. Philip probably greeted him back and said, “Hello good sir, what's your name and what brings you to Bethsaida.” “My name is Jesus.” “Oh that's right, you're that rabbi from Nazareth. I have heard of you. I am deeply honored to meet you. What can I do for you?” “Come, follow me.” “Come, be my disciple.” Not Random-- Can you imagine? I mean Philip has never even met Jesus. Jesus comes all the way up from Judea, and the scriptures say he finds Philip (which implies that he was looking for him) and says “follow me.” You know, I don't know about you, but it always seemed to me that Jesus' way of choosing disciples was kind of random. I mean, it seemed as though Jesus would just pull random guys from whatever location he happened to be in. But here we see that Jesus is very intentional about the disciples He chooses. Nothing is random. He comes toGalilee; and not only because that is where He is going to start His ministry. No, He goes specifically to Bethsaida to handpick His first disciples. Now we are often tempted to think that our coming to Christ was random. But that is not true. Christ has specifically chosen each one of us for a special plan and purpose. He has handpicked us for a special task. And, I don't know about you, but that is a great comfort to me; to know that my following Christ wasn't a random decision with little to no aim in mind. But Christ sought out each one of us in order to bless us and call us to be His disciples. Phillip's Response-- Now I would have loved to see Philip's reaction to Christ's call. It must have been one of fascination and awe because we have no other explanation than that Philip obeys that call. Apparently his own personal experience of Jesus; his experiencing Jesus for himself was all he needed; and he became immovably convinced that Jesus was indeed the Messiah. And so he begins to follow Jesus. And, as anyone who has encountered Jesus must do, he has to go and tell somebody. And of course he will go to tell Nathaniel, which we will talk about next week. The Living Link— But not long ago I read a historical story shared by Warren Wiersbe. [Britain's King George V was to give the opening address at a special disarmament conference, with the speech relayed by radio to the U.S. As the broadcast was about to begin, a cable {that ran to the generator that powered the whole broadcast} broke in the New York radio station {(somebody having tripped over it)}, and more than a million listeners were left without sound. A junior mechanic in the station, {NY NBC radio engineer} Harold Vivien, solved the problem by picking up both ends of the cable and allowing 250 volts of electricity to pass through him. {And, though his body twitched with spasms, he held on (in pain) for 20 minutes until new wires could be connected.} He was the living link that allowed the king's message to get through.] We Are the Living Links— This morning I want you to imagine yourself as that living link between Jesus and those who need to hear Him; that (like that cable) allows His message to come through and touch their lives. You and I, whether we realize it or not, are often God's means of allowing the very voice of Jesus to be heard. (LONG PAUSE) Yet sometimes the worst thing we can do we end up doing; and that is to remain silent. The Silent Lawyer— Once there was […a court case that was lost because of the silence of an attorney. The distinguished lawyer Samuel Hoar (1778-1856) was representing the defendant. When it was time to present his case, he told the jurors that the facts favoring his client were so evident that he would not insult their intelligence by arguing them. The jury retired to deliberate and returned in a few minutes with a verdict of guilty. Samuel Hoar was astonished! "How," he asked, "could you have reached such a verdict?"  The foreman replied, "We all agreed that if anything could be said for a case, you would say it. But since you didn't present any evidence, we decided to rule against you." Silence had lost the case. How often the opportunity to speak a word of testimony for Christ is lost because we remain silent. Those who need to hear the gospel may conclude that salvation is not important enough to talk about. ] Through Your Life— This is why it is so important for us to speak up; to be that link that connects people with the voice and presence of Jesus. Through your life; through your witness, people come face to face with Jesus. We are all Christians because of the ministry of somebody else. I guarantee it. None of us has come to Christ on our own merit. All of us came because of the ministry of somebody else. And that was because Christ, in and through that person, was seeking to save you and to call you to come follow Him. Now the question is, who is Christ calling you and I to bring to Him? Who is Christ burdening our hearts for? Are we going to allow Christ to use us to bring those people to Him. This week I want to challenge you, find who that person is and begin praying for them. And look for opportunities to share with them the life you have found in Jesus. Amen.

Foundational scriptures; 2 Thessalonians 2:7-10 and 1 John 3:4 We see lawlessness everywhere we turn today. From people killing one another, killing police, police killing people who are not armed to our government officials writing laws that are illegal or bribes, security breeches, lying and doing what is unseemly. We really need Jesus to come back soon to straighten out the mess we have created. Our society is being threatened with nuclear war and many in the intelligence communities believes America just might be nuked sooner rather than later. The fact that we see a state of lawlessness is a strong indicator that we are in the final countdown to the return of Christ. Why has The Lord waited so long to return? Its really very simple to understand. Reason 1: God wants everyone to be saved because He understands first hand how awful hell will be for a human. Reason 2: When He returns again The Lord knows prior to that return His wrath and anger will be poured out on all humanity and Israel will go through one of its darkest days; see Zechariah 13. With this being said the time for The Lord to return is drawing near and one day God will say to Jesus GO! The good news is that Jesus our Savior is coming again to free the world from tyranny. His day is coming and its coming very quickly! The question is this... Will you be ready to meet Jesus The Savior of man kind face to face? Or will you hide yourself from Him? Now is the day of salvation! Allow me to encourage you to start your new life with Jesus Christ now while the door is open. How you ask... Senior Leader is Pastor Steve Rahter 2235 Ocean Heights Ave. Egg Harbor Township, NJ 0823 Matthew 8:18-34The CEO of a large company was interviewing people for the important job of financial director. One candidate - Charles - seemed ideally qualified. Charles had attended a top level college. He was a certified public accountant. He had a Masters degree in business. He knew finances inside and out, backwards and forwards. He seemed to be the exact person they were looking for.“Charles,” said the CEO, “we've decided to offer you the job. And since you're so highly qualified we're going to start you off on a higher salary than the one we had advertised. We'll pay you $2000 a week!”“Thank you very much, sir” replied Charles. “Wow, I can't believe I'm going to be making $6000 a month!”So maybe Charles didn't have what it takes to be a financial director after all. Here, in this next section of Matthew chapter 8, we encounter two people who don't seem to have what it takes to become a disciple of Jesus:18 Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, He gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea. 19 Then a scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” 20 Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”Someone described this scribe as “jumping on the Jesus bandwagon”. He was all excited about the healings that Jesus was performing and the crowds that He was attracting. He figured maybe some of this fame and fortune would rub off on him if he just hung around with Jesus long enough. But Jesus gives the scribe a rude awakening. He essentially says, “I'm homeless. If you're planning on following me you might end up homeless too. Are you sure you know what you're getting into?”That's a question that we ALL should ask ourselves before pledging to follow Jesus wherever He leads, because He already told us where He's leading us – He's leading us to a cross, a place of self-sacrifice!German theologian Dietrich Bonhoffer, who was executed by the Nazis, wrote this:“Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without discipline, Communion without confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross. Grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die."This is the same challenge that Jesus put forth in Luke 14:25-33 when He explained the need for each of us to “count the cost” before choosing to follow Him:Now large crowds were going along with Him; and He turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. 27 Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28 For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.' 31 Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in battle, will not first sit down and consider whether he is strong enough with ten thousand men to encounter the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. 33 So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.Don't those statements shock you? We're supposed to be willing to hate our own families and our own lives and to give up EVERYTHING in order to qualify as a true disciple of Jesus! Who meets those criteria?Notice that Jesus said those things to “large crowds (who) were going along with Him.”That's similar to the verse we started off with today: “Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, He gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea.”What's that all about? Did Jesus not like crowds? Did He not want lots of followers? The point is that Jesus DID want followers. But He wanted to make sure that those who were following Him clearly understood what that would mean for their lives. As we've been learning in our monthly men's meeting, what Jesus WASN'T looking for was just a bunch of FANS, people who admire Him but don't want to serve Him! Next we see another example of a man who isn't willing to meet the shockingly high qualifications of discipleship:21 Another of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” 22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead.”One commentary said this: “These events show the radical commitment Jesus demands of disciples. Honoring one's parents by providing a proper burial was a strict obligation in Jewish society, but Jesus demands a greater allegiance to Himself.”There is another possible interpretation of those verses as well. Some scholars think that the man's father was still alive, and that he was basically saying to Jesus “I'm gonna hang around here till my Dad passes away, then I'll catch up with you later!” One writer put it this way, “He wanted to wait until he received his inheritance. He wanted a commitment that demanded no risk.”Keep this in perspective. In verse 20 Jesus says “the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”This title “the Son of Man” is how Jesus refers to Himself when He predicts his suffering and death. In Chapter 17 verses 22 and 23 He tells his disciples:“The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men; and they will kill Him.”So the essentially question for any follower isn't just “who are you following?” – it's “where is he leading you?”Jesus is making no secret of where following Him will lead. In Luke 9:23 He spells it out in the clearest terms: “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”Did you catch the sequence of events there? First, DENY YOURSELF! Second, TAKE UP YOUR CROSS. Third, FOLLOW ME! Don't kid yourself into thinking that you're doing the third thing if you haven't already done the first two!In Luke' version of these same events from Matthew chapter 8, Jesus adds this comment in chapter 9 verse 62 “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”Don't look back. If you've decided to be a follower of Jesus, then count the cost up front, before you make that commitment, so that once you've put your hand to the plow of serving Him, you won't be looking over your shoulder, thinking twice.Of course Jesus came to be the Son of Man, the sacrifice for the sins of the world, but He was also the Son of God, who created the world. And because of that He has power OVER the world, as these next events demonstrate:23 When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. 25 And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing!” 26 He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm. 27 The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”Apparently the weather conditions around Sea of Galilee can create some pretty intense storms, with waves up to fifteen feet high! The power that Jesus displays in calming the storm with only His words causes the disciples to ask “What kind of a man is this?” They knew Jesus as a man. They followed Him everywhere. But they also knew from the Psalms that only God can control the seas and the storms:Psalm 65:7 says that God “stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves,”Psalm 89:9 “You rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.”Psalm 107:24-29 “They have seen the works of the Lord, And His wonders in the deep.25 For He spoke and raised up a stormy wind,Which lifted up the waves of the sea.26 They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; Their soul melted away in their misery.27 They reeled and staggered like a drunken man,And were at their wits' end.28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,And He brought them out of their distresses.29 He caused the storm to be still,So that the waves of the sea were hushed.”These disciples knew that those scriptures were talking about GOD'S power over the waters and the storms, and now here was Jesus, a MAN, calming the storm right before their very eyes! When Jesus asks them “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith” -  He is essentially saying, “Don't you know who I AM?”That's always going to be the defining line for whether we are walking in faith or not. If our focus is on the wind and the waves of life's storms, then maybe we've forgotten just who it is that we're following and what kind of power he possesses! In these final verses Jesus shows His power extends not just to the natural world, but also to the SUPER-natural world:28 When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way. 29 And they cried out, saying, “What business do we have with each other, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”The demons inside these men complain that it is not yet “the time”, knowing that on the Day of Judgment they will be cast into the abyss, or lake of fire. In Matthew 25:41 Jesus says that on the Day of Judgment “He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels”But Jesus is already breaking the powers of darkness now! He isn't going to wait until the final judgment to set men free!  In chapter 12 verse 28 He says: “I cast out demons by the Spirit of God.”The thing I want you to pay attention to in these remaining verses is the difference between how the demons react to Jesus and how the townspeople react to Jesus:30 Now there was a herd of many swine feeding at a distance from them. 31 The demons began to entreat Him, saying, “If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of swine.” 32 And He said to them, “Go!” And they came out and went into the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters.33 The herdsmen ran away, and went to the city and reported everything, including what had happened to the demoniacs. 34 And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they implored Him to leave their region. It's interesting that Jesus permits the demons to enter into the pigs. Maybe that was because the Day of Judgment had not yet arrived and He had to send the demons somewhere in order to set the men free. What's even more interesting is the fact that the demons recognized Jesus' power and authority and they “entreated” or begged for His permission to go into the pigs. Of course this makes the pigs freak out and commit suicide, but I think Jesus wasn't primarily concerned about the pigs. He was concerned about these two human beings!By contrast, the townspeople apparently cared more about their pigs than the two human beings!Instead of recognizing Jesus' authority, they kick him out of town! It's as if they're saying, “Listen, you can't just come here setting people free if you're going to mess with our pigs in the process!”To bring these verses full circle, we can clearly see that these folks don't meet the qualifications to be disciples of Jesus because they don't want to be involved with Him if it's going to COST them something! So let me ask you a question – what are your pigs?In other words, what is keeping you back from following Jesus completely? At what point do you look at Jesus and say “I think you'd better just leave now, because you're starting to mess with my pigs!”Is it your time? Is it your money? Is it your relationships? Is it that favorite sin that you aren't ready to let go of?Because whatever it is, we MUST face the truth that Jesus put forth back in verse 33; “none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all (this is) his own.”The bottom line question will always come back to this: “Are those pigs really worth more to you than Jesus?” Because you can't have both.

DESCRIPTION: Discouragement can rob you of healing and of success in any endeavor - if you let it. King David encouraged himself in the LORD. Stand up on the inside and let the Holy One of Israel, YHWH, heal you by His promised one: Messiah. HEALING WHEN YOU LEAST FEEL LIKE IT Discouragement is like a blanket of death. It can paralyze you with inaction, loss of faith, and no hope. Discouragement is a tool of the devil. The enemy of your soul wants you to STOP ACTION: he wants you to stop believing for MIRACLES, and for the touch of G-d in your life. Let’s look for a moment at the definitions of “discouragement.” 1.    Preventing something from happening by making it more difficult or unpleasant. 2.    Trying to stop a person from doing something. 3.    Making somebody feel less motivated, confident, or optimistic. The 15th Century root from the Old French word “descoragier” means “to deprive of courage.” Discouragement can rob you of healing and of success in any endeavor if you let it. Satan, the devil, is a REAL spirit being. He does NOT want you to succeed in anything. The only success he wants you to have is for his purposes. And, your soul – including the destruction of your mental and physical well being - is his purpose. That’s what he is after. The enemy wants your soul: for eternity, and, my friend, PART of eternity is NOW. When Messiah was on earth, He told us: “The thief (the devil) comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  (Brit Chadashah / Yochanan 10:10) It is the devil’s will - and goal - to destroy your health, your wealth, and your joy. “The JOY of the LORD is your strength.” (Tanach / Ketuvim: Nehemiah 8:10) The Good News is that, it is the WILL of the LORD, Yeshua ha Meshiach, for you to have life more abundantly. This includes your health, your wealth, and your joy. Whether you are healthy and successful, or sick and in poverty, the devil’s goal is the same. As a matter of fact, the enemy loves to kick people when they are down. He is a major bully. This is WHY you have to take a stand: first of all spiritually, then mentally and physically. When King David’s followers were thinking about stoning him, after their loss at Ziklag (1 Samuel 30:6) the Bible tells us, “David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” When you are discouraged, you have to STAND UP on the inside and encourage yourself in the LORD. You must remind yourself: G-d is for you. G-d loves you and sent His Son, Yeshua ha Meshiach, as your Atonement. G-d has provided healing – spiritual, mental, and physical - in that atonement. “With His stripes we are healed.” (Tanakh: Isaiah Chapter 53) Trust Messiah today – call upon Him NOW! Ask Him to save you and heal you. Pray this prayer: “God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, I WAS discouraged but NOW I am going to stand up on the inside and resist the devil. I ask you to reveal to me if Yeshua (Jesus) is really my Messiah. Please save me and heal me. Thank you!" Isaiah Chapter 53 in the Tanakh is a wonderful prophecy 750 years before time about Messiah’s sacrifice for you to purchase your healing. Read it below: “Who hath believed our message? And to whom has the arm of JHWH been revealed? For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he has no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and YHWH hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who [among them] considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke (was due)? And they made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased JHWH to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see [his] seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of JHWH shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by the knowledge of himself shall my righteous servant justify many; and he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” - Isaiah Chapter 53 (Tanakh) Your friend, Prince Handley Baruch haba b’Shem Adonai.
