Addleshaw Goddard welcomes its first group of 'Legal Explorers' as Dublin school students participate in the international law firm's social mobility programme in Ireland. The Addleshaw Goddard Legal Explorer Programme provides school students who have an interest in law the opportunity to experience the legal industry first-hand. The year-long work experience programme designed for fifth-year students runs from October to August in line with the academic year and aims to empower each student, informing them of the different opportunities available to them in post-secondary education. The first cohort of students participating in the programme are Vivienne Majchrzak and Glory Ahamefule from Mercy Secondary School, Inchicore, Dublin 8, and Aimee Geene from CBS Westland Row, Dublin 2. To qualify for the programme, applicants must be attending a state-funded, non-fee-paying school or DEIS school within travelling distance of Addleshaw Goddard's Dublin-based office. As part of the programme, each student is given a laptop to keep, a bursary, workshops and a dedicated mentor to provide support throughout the experience. Throughout the academic year, participants are introduced to different career pathways into the legal sector and meet some of the firm's staff, gaining valuable insight into the lived experiences of those currently working in the sector. Speaking on the programme, Sean Twomey, Partner and Head of Real Estate team in Ireland at Addleshaw Goddard, said: "At Addleshaw Goddard, unlocking young potential is one of our core beliefs. The Legal Explorer Programme embodies this and has been a huge success in our UK offices for many years. We are delighted to welcome our first cohort of students in Dublin this year and are extremely proud of our colleagues providing these students with such a unique experience, inspiring them to pursue a legal career." Supporting the programme and this year's cohorts, Deputy James Geoghegan T.D. for Dublin Bay South and a qualified Barrister, said: "It is brilliant to see an international law firm like Addleshaw Goddard opening the door to the legal world and bringing new learning opportunities to students from all communities. The Legal Explorer Programme offers students a taste of what the Irish legal industry entails, an invaluable insight for all aspiring lawyers. I was delighted to meet the students and provide them with an overview of my career as a barrister and how I've brought my legal skills into politics. I was very impressed with the students' enthusiasm to learn and wish them the very best for the future, which looks very bright for them all." Acting as mentors to the Explorers are Alison Devine, Associate, Disputes, Dr James Meighan, Managing Associate, Regulatory & Disputes, and Siobhan Kenny, Legal Director, Construction & Engineering. Dr James Meighan said, "It is always refreshing to meet and work with driven individuals who, at such a young age, are already testing out what their future might look like. It is an absolute pleasure to work with this year's group of Legal Explorers, and I look forward to seeing how each of their futures pans out - I have no doubt we will cross paths again over the coming years." We've spoken to him in his various stops around the world like Champs camp in Lanzarote, on to Tenerife, to Box Smart Elite in West Midlands and now to MLSS Community hub in Walsall where he has just won the WBF Silver Welterweight title under the tutelage of coach Bhupinder Singh, nicknamed Pops, as he looks to take his career to the next stage."I love the struggles and the journey. I'd be lying if I said it was all nice and easy. "I've had my ups and downs, my trials and tribulations during these camps. If the majority of people knew what was going on throughout the camp they'd be shocked, but it's part of the game. It's like a medal of honour and they've moulded me into a more ferocious and vicious fighter."Despite that, Luzoho has also made himself at home at The MLSS Community Hub is also well known for several initiatives in Bloxwich where they help feed local families and deliver food parcels to schools and although his career at the forefront of his mind, Luzoho joins these community heroes to deliver those services which have grown from feeding one homeless man in 2013 to serving over 42,000 meals every week across 24 cities in the UK, Berlin and India. We speak to Francy about all of this and also hear from some of the young boxers in the community that Francy is helping to prepare alongside 'Pops' for their upcoming skills bouts.in Association with

Galway United will go 10 games unbeaten in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division this Friday (31st May 2024) if they avoid defeat to Stephen Kenny's St. Patrick's Athletic. It's a repeat of the opening game of the season when the Inchicore side nicked a 1-0 victory in Eamonn Deacy Park thanks to a Jamie Lennon third minute goal. But the Saints have struggled for form since bringing in the ex-Ireland manager three games ago to replace Jon Daly. And they currently sit in seventh spot on 20 points, seven behind Galway in fourth who have two games in hand. The last time Galway United played St. Pat's in a competitive game away from home, goals from Jonah Aynunga and Eoin McCormack sent the Tribesmen into the FAI Cup quarter-finals following a 2-0 win in August 2017. The ESB has opened a major battery plant at its Poolbeg site in Dublin which will add 75MW (150MWh) of fast-acting energy storage to help provide grid stability and deliver more renewables on Ireland's electricity system. This latest battery energy storage system (BESS), currently the largest site of its kind in commercial operation in Ireland, is part of ESB's pipeline of projects which are being delivered at sites in Dublin and Cork - representing an investment of up to €300m. These high-capacity batteries can store excess renewable energy for discharge when required, and in doing so, help to support Ireland in reaching its ambitious climate targets by 2030 and ESB in achieving its Net Zero by 2040 strategy. This project, operational since late November 2023, has a capability of providing 75MW of energy for two hours to Ireland's electricity system. This plant is located at ESB's Poolbeg Energy Hub in Dublin where some of the latest technologies that will support the future delivery of renewable energy including batteries, hydrogen and offshore wind will be deployed over the next decade. ESB is working with partners Fluence, as well as Irish companies, Kirby Group and Powercomm Group, in the delivery of these projects at Poolbeg, Aghada, Inchicore, and South Wall - the remainder of these projects are due to be completed this year. Eamon Ryan TD, Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, said: "Energy storage like this major battery plant at the ESB's flagship site in Poolbeg will be a core part of Ireland's new renewable energy transition and will play a key role in balancing our new, homegrown power supply. No electricity system can operate without a backup. In Ireland this has traditionally been provided by fossil fuel generation. Jim Dollard, ESB Executive Director, Generation and Trading, outlined how the plant will support ESB's Net Zero by 2040 target: "Today marks another important milestone for ESB as we launch our latest fast-acting grid-scale battery unit that will support grid stability and help to deliver more renewables on Ireland's electricity system. The location of this project, at our Poolbeg Energy Hub, will build on our longstanding history of innovation at the site. See more stories here.

Take the quantum leap with us into this seventy minute journey with Collar and Cuff, Rascals Brewery and Back to the Future Ticketing!

No Dan this week as he's away on International duty so we left it up to Johnny to round up the guests. Wembley wonder with Coventry and back at Burnley, we have Premier League defender Luke McNally, who's back in the country where he reminisces about his days at Enfield, the NECSL, marking a 16 year old Evan Ferguson and his fortuitous move to Drogheda where he hooked up with our second guest, none other than ex manager of Drogheda and Pats, Tim Clancy, who speaks candidly about his time at Pats, the fanciful ambitions in Inchicore, the culture of social media, why there are fewer and fewer easy games and Kevin Doherty's success at United Park. The format may be different but the chat is still red hot and all of this is thanks, as ever, to Collar and Cuff, Rascals Brewery and Future Ticketing!
