My guest on the podcast this week is Vinny Ribas, who's the founder and CEO of both Indie Direct and Cartne. Vinny has worked as both an agent and an artist manager, but is also an executive coach and strategic business consultant. He's also branched out online in creating Indie Connect and his latest venture Cartne. Cartne takes the mystery and guesswork out of being an indie artist by providing the answers to over 250 of the most pressing questions and challenges that artists have. It also exposes over 60 of the scams and rip-offs that plague the industry, and also details hundreds of careers in the industry that go way beyond just artist, musician, engineer and producer. Hey Pals! All-in-all, the journey toward the "Dawn" - toward dreams and goals and passions - MUST involve mistakes. It's a part of the process and the journey almost needs the mistakes in order to unfold. So, even though I'd love for you to avoid them as much as possible, I also would love for you to embrace and welcome them. Hi Pals,  My journey of pursuing my dreams and passions has been the most rewarding process I've ever experienced, truly. But, there are parts of the journey that haven't not always been very fun. It can be difficult to stay motivated and inspired when facing some of these challenges. Hi Pals,  In this episode, Carlton "CJ" Francis and I talk about how you can work hard toward something that makes you money but isn't necessarily what you're most passionate about. You can be earning good money and doing something that other people are passionate about and trying to convince yourself that it's a good fit for you. However, that is not typically very motivating - building someone else's dreams instead of your own.  I think that many of us have been in that situation where we're doing something to earn a living but not necessarily feeling completely fulfilled or excited about those things, regardless of the amount of money we make. Hey Pals! Start along this journey with me, Sachiko Tiana, as we discuss why I absolutely HAD to start a podcast about dreams that highlights the everyday struggle. Rather than waiting until I "made it" and explaining how I got there as an "expert", I decided to start my show right smack dab in the middle of absolute chaos. Every once in a while a song comes along that makes you drop whatever you're doing and listen. That's the kind of thing that's been happening throughout Nashville at venues that country-pop artist/songwriter Alayna has been playing.Amidst the usual talking voices of people carrying on conversations comes Alayna's powerful vocals, relatable lyrics and infectious melodies, causing the whole room to go silent and take notice. Whether she's singing a song about moving on from a past relationship, showing a little attitude or singing a feel good song, Alayna captures the ears of everyone in range.Alayna left the small town of Butler, Pennsylvania in the summer of 2011 with nothing but herself and a carload of a few necessities including her Breedlove guitar to pursue her lifelong dream. In a short amount of time she would be writing with hit songwriters such as Benita Hill and Kirsti Manna, playing well-known venues like The Listening Room and Hard Rock Cafe Nashville, traveling to play for crowds as large as 6,000 and would have an endorsement from her favorite guitar company, Breedlove. She also successfully fan-funded a six song EP titled "Top of a Dream" through Kickstarter.Classically trained in piano from age 7, Alayna always had a love for music, but it wasn't always country. “I listened to a lot of different artists growing up: Jewel, Brandy, LeAnn Rimes, Sheryl Crow. I was really all over the map”, she says.
