Q&A on the AMC series Interview with the Vampire with actor Jacob Anderson. Moderated by Mara Webster, In Creative Company. A vampire tells his epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality to a journalist.
Hannah, Yosra and Mick are all big fans of Alice Lowe. But will that translate into loving Timestalker, which she wrote, directed and stars in? Does an excellent supporting cast (Tanya Reynolds, Jacob Anderson, Nick Frost and Aneurin Barnard) get enough to do? And will the fast cuts and repetition leave them confused or swooning? Find out! He broods magnificently in HBO's Interview with the Vampire, but actor Jacob Anderson shows his looser side in Alice Lowe's romantic comedy Timestalker, landing in US theaters and on demand this Valentine's Day. And he's here to share the gospel of Hot Rod, the 2007 comedy that brought Andy Samberg and his pals in The Lonely Island to the big screen a bit before the big screen was ready for them. Your genial host Norm Wilner, though? He was ready.
In this raw and reflective conversation, Sandy's connecting with Dr. Jacob Anderson, a family physician and program director, who opens up about the highs and lows of stepping into a leadership role in medicine. Together, they explore:The realization of becoming “the powers that be,” and what it's like to confront the very structures he once resisted. How curiosity—and even discomfort—can transform moments of defensiveness into powerful growth moments. The push and pull of healthcare's “us vs. them” culture, and why Dr. Anderson believes embracing complexity is essential for creating meaningful change.Practical insights on avoiding emotional burnout by resisting the lure of quick judgment and finding more sustainable ways to lead with clarity. This episode challenges traditional views of healthcare leadership, showing that true strength lies in the willingness to look inward, question assumptions, and embrace the hard and important work of personal transformation. Dr. Anderson's perspective offers a thought-provoking shift from typical narratives, making this conversation extra compelling.

Send us a Text Message.Happy Wine Wednesday! Terence is back with me to wrap up our coverage of the SPECTACULAR second season of AMC's Interview with the Vampire. This was truly a bittersweet occasion because I have had such a blast talking to Terence about this amazing show and I'm sad to say farewell (for now) to the show and to my weekly chats with Terence about it.We had a lot of fun talking about these messy vampires in this finale episode. We start the episode by delighting in Louis getting his lick back and serving up some fiery revenge to those coven bastards for what they did to Claudia and Madeline. And of course we talk about the brilliance of Jacob Anderson as he captures Louis's madness. That final showdown with Santiago was EVERYTHING. Ben Daniels will truly be missed, but what a sendoff that was for his character who got the whackings he deserved from Louis.Next we talk about the SHOCKING revelations about the trial, which came as no surprise because Armand has repeatedly been revealed to be a lying liar who lies. We can't say enough good things about this cast, including the delight that Eric Bogosian brings to Daniel Molloy as he calmly and methodically ramps up to reveal to Louis that it was Lestat who saved him.We can't wait to see that home wrecking Daniel Molloy adjust to life as a vampire in Season 3. Speaking of Season 3, we are SO ready for rock star Lestat and to see where things stand with Louis. The Loustat reunion scene was so beautifully acted, so y'all know we had lots to say about it. Thanks so much for listening to our coverage! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time!Be sure to follow and support Terence here: his website, his Twitter account, and his IG. Send us a Text Message.Hey there fellow Interview with the Vampire fans! The season has ended, but if you're like me you're probably in a full blown rewatch. My discussion with Terence about episode 7 - "I Could Not Prevent It" is the perfect rewatch companion. And if you're just getting around to the second season, welcome!Terence and I do a deep dive into the trial of Claudia, Louis, and Madeline. We question whether Lestat was there voluntarily and speculate about the meaning behind Lestat's apparent shakiness at times during the trial. And of course we get into the shocking revelations in the episode that go back to Season 1, like the intense fight between Louis and Lestat and the night that Lestat gave Claudia the gift.We also continue to question what - if anything - we can believe about Armand in these memories. We simply don't trust him! We close out our conversation giving a heartfelt farewell to Claudia and talking about the many ways in which she was failed as a human and then again as a vampire. Salute to Delainey Haynes for a superb performance this season. Keep an eye on your feeds - my conversation with Terence about the AMAZING Season 2 finale will be out this Wine Wednesday!Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time!Don't miss recent episodes on House of the Dragon Season 2 and Bridgerton Season 3. The star of AMC's terrific drama series joins Little Gold Men this week to talk the game-changing season two finale (spoilers ahead!), the most insane things the show has asked him to do thus far, and how his complicated experience on Game of Thrones has informed his approach to his new series' rabid fandom. The internet freaked out when Charli XCX and Lorde revealed - and put to rest - their pop girl rivalry on Charli's "Girl, so confusing" remix. That same day, Brandy and Monica seemed to settle their decades long feud when they appeared on the remix of Ariana Grande's version of "The Boy is Mine." But while the pop girls are healing, a lot of fans still seem to want blood - can this music heal us? To break it all down, Brittany is joined by NPR Music Editor Hazel Cills, and Pop Pantheon podcast host, DJ Louie XIV.Then, AMC's Interview with the Vampire is back for a second season and so Brittany revisits her conversation with the star of the show, Jacob Anderson. In today's episode Joann and Kristina welcome IWTV fan and Jacob Anderson fan page curator Nado (@astronaut_Nado) who is here to help us dissect the events of season 2's penultimate episode: I Could Not Prevent It. This is a harrowing episode, one that we've been waiting for from the beginning, and one that has left so many fans heartbroken but in awe of the performances of each of the actors in this remarkable ensemble. Nado's contributions to this conversation were absolutely wonderful and we are so grateful that he agreed to join. We promise you'll want more of his thoughts and we are definitely going to be welcoming him back for a deep dive. Below are some ways to engage with us and a bit more about Nado. @kristinagenx, @vampire_insider, and please email us @ vampireinsider@gmail.com Nado has loved vampire stories ever since he was a little kid. His introduction to the genre was the first Blade film and his interest has only grown since then. His mom was a fan of Anne Rice's books and he'd seen bits of the 94 film as well as Queen of the Damned, which, for a long time, was his only reference point for the story. Although he'd seen rumblings of the IWTV television adaptation prior to the season one release, it wasn't until he saw that Jacob Anderson was going to be part of the show that he became excited about it. Vampire stories told from a black or POC perspective are rare, so seeing him play the titular character piqued Nado's interest. After season 1 episode 3, Nado started reading the books and he has been invested ever since. He is eager to see how the show will adapt the other books into the show's storyline. Joanna Robinson and Van Lathan travel to Europe to recap the first six episodes of ‘Interview With the Vampire' Season 2. They start by discussing whether or not it's the best show on television right now, how it effectively depicts the cultural complexities of its settings, and why Jacob Anderson's nuanced performance as Louis de Pointe du Lac anchors the show (1:43). Along the way, they talk about how the AMC drama embraces the queer nature of the story and how Sam Reid's take on Lestat de Lioncourt is in stark contrast to Tom Cruise's in the 1994 film adaptation (13:04). One of the best shows on TV finally makes its return. This week, we review the first four episodes of Interview with the Vampire's second season. The second season finds Louis and Claudia on the run after supposedly killing Lestat, and the pair travel the world in search of more of their own kind. Does the new season live up to the series' pristine reputation?
Episode 4 "I Want You More Than Anything in the World": The coven questions Louis and Armand's special relationship; Claudia finds a new friend. #InterviewWithTheVampire #AMC Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (2022) is a fantasy television series on AMC starring Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles and Assad Zaman. Terence is back with me this week to discuss Interview with the Vampire Season 2, Episode 3 - "No Pain" - an episode that in fact did feature a lot of pain. Poor Claudia! Terence and I talk about the introduction of Raglan James. We're so excited about Justin Kirk's addition to this talented cast, but we absolutely do not trust RJ whatsoever. We also unpack the different iterations of Lestat featured in this episode via Louis and Armand. Y'all know we don't trust Armand and his recollection of Lestat in his flashbacks made us even more suspicious of him.Of course we talk about Claudia and the Coven. We've been on edge about Claudia's safety and well being in this new group but perhaps it is Claudia's age at the time she became a vampire that we should be worried about. We also talk about Claudia and Louis just outright hustling backwards during this episode. Coming up with lies for their "Bruce the Vampire Maker" backstory with doors and windows open is a terrible idea. And Louis needs to tell Claudia that Armand knows about Lestat ASAP!Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time! Send us a Text Message.Hey there Interview with the Vampire fans! We are SO back! I was delighted to welcome Terence B. Johnson back to the podcast this week to kick off our weekly coverage of IWTV Season 2. We are covering the first two episodes of the new season this week, which worked out well as we both agreed that episode 1 felt much more like a prologue and episode 2 felt more like the actual premiere. Nonetheless, we think the new season is off to a great start and look forward to discussing the remaining episodes. On this week's show, the hosts begin by reviewing Babes, Pamela Adlon's (Better Things, Louie) directorial feature debut starring Ilana Glazer and Michelle Buteau. Through raunch-comedy and body horror, Babes explores childbirth and pregnancy through a refreshingly unromanticized lens, but does it succeed as a drama? Then, the three switch gears and turn to Interview With the Vampire, AMC's Anne Rice adaptation that's now in its second season. What a weird show! The series–starring Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac and Eric Bogosian as the titular cynical interviewer–brings the novel's queer subtext to the surface, and is camp in every sense of the word. Finally, the trio is joined by Mikael Wood, the Los Angeles Times' pop music critic to discuss Billie Eilish's latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. (You can read Wood's review here.) Produced with her brother Finneas, Hit Me Hard and Soft offers a new way of thinking about the 22-year-old, and features songs like “Birds of a Feather” and “Lunch,” a fun, lusty track about being into girls. In the exclusive Slate Plus segment, the panel answers a question from long-time listener, James: “What things that you love have you been introduced to by advertising?” Email us at culturefest@slate.com. Endorsements: Dana: This week's endorsement comes with a brag: Dana's daughter is going to Julliard! Through that, they discovered the wonderful documentary, Creating a Character: The Moni Yakim Legacy. Julia: Two clarifications and an extremely sumptuous sweater recommendation. First, the fashion Substacks mentioned on a previous episode were I Want to be Her!, Girls of a Certain Age, and Blackbird Spyplane. Second, a wool sweater from Dana Lee Brown. Stephen: The Time of the Last Persecution, an album by the English singer-songwriter Bill Fay, released in 1971. Podcast production by Jessamine Molli. Production assistance by Kat Hong. Anne Rice's novel ‘Interview With the Vampire' has a rabid fan base, intensely protective of the story and any adaptations of it. Thankfully for Jacob Anderson, who plays Louis de Pointe du Lac in the AMC original series based on Rice's novel, the fans seem to be on board. “I do get a sense that people feel like we did right by the characters.” Now in its second season, this version, not connected to the 1994 film version starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, looks deeper into the “mess” of Louis. “He's this jumble of contradictions...Louis is way more responsible for the tragedy of his own life than he would ever admit.” For Anderson, he never once considered finding inspiration from the film. “I think that would have been the first step to ruin it. To try and compare or do anything in response to that, because that film is iconic in its way and what it represents and those two very powerful screen presences at that particular time.” He went on to say, “Rolin [Jones, series creator] used to say this is a third thing. There's the book, the film and this is the third thing.” Visit Newsweek.com to learn more about the podcasts we offer and to catch up on the latest news. Spooky season is upon us, so we decided to sink our teeth into the world of vampires. Host Brittany Luse kicks off the conversation with Kendra R. Parker, who teaches a class at Georgia Southern University about Black vampires in film and literature. They talk about the racial and sexual politics of vampire narratives and why humans continue to find vampire stories compelling. Then Brittany sits down with Jacob Anderson, star of the AMC reboot of Interview with the Vampire. The two get into the shaky ethics of vampirism and the trauma of immortality. Follow us on Twitter @NPRItsBeenAMin or email us at ibam@npr.org.
