Episode SummaryIn this powerful continuation of his series on The Believer's Authority, Dr. Jim Van Gelderen shares how believers can experience real victory over Satan—not by personal strength, but by being fully submitted to Christ. Reflecting on the recent passing of his prayer-warrior mother-in-law, Dr. Van Gelderen weaves together personal testimony, scriptural truth, and vivid illustrations to show how spiritual authority flows from surrender. When you're under Christ's authority, you stand over the enemy—and he must flee.Topics DiscussedRemembering Janet Cross and her legacy of prayer and faithWhat it means to be “in Christ” and seated in heavenly places (Ephesians 1–2)Christ's victory over Satan and the believer's shared triumphJames 4:7 and the conditions for resisting the devilDelegated authority illustrated with a traffic cop and a mother's commandWhy praying “in Jesus' name” is more than a phraseResisting Satan's influence in weather, illness, and other real-life situationsTotal surrender and total dependence as the foundation for authorityKey TakeawaysSpiritual authority is not earned through strength, but accessed through submission.Christ's victory over Satan is final, and believers share in that authority when yielded to Him.Praying “in Jesus' name” means aligning with His will and authority, not just using a phrase. We must not be passive in the spiritual battle; resisting Satan is an active responsibility.Whether facing external circumstances or internal battles, the path to victory is the same: under authority, over the enemy. Episode SummaryIn this opening episode of The Believer's Authority series, Dr. Jim Van Gelderen lays the biblical foundation for victorious Christian living. Drawing from Ephesians and Colossians, he explains how every believer is spiritually seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above all demonic powers. This critical truth shifts the battlefield and shows young people that victory over the enemy is not only possible—it's already been won.Topics DiscussedTestimony of Pastor Marty Moon's salvation and call to preachThe believer's identification with Christ's death, resurrection, and ascensionWhat it means to be “seated in heavenly places” (Ephesians 2:6)The biblical reality that Satan is already defeated (Colossians 2:14-15)Understanding spiritual authority vs. spiritual powerThe necessity of submission to Christ in exercising His authority (James 4:7)A preview of the next steps: appropriation and actionKey TakeawaysYour spiritual position matters—you are in Christ, seated far above the enemy. You're not fighting for victory; you're fighting from victory.Satan is already defeated at the cross—you don't ask for victory; you claim it.Submission is the gateway to authority—you can only exercise Christ's authority when you're under it.Knowing truth is step one—appropriating and acting on it comes next. Saturday is review day on The Daily Promise. Every Saturday, we review the promises of the week so we can allow them to go deep into our hearts and lives. Here are the promises we covered this week. Exodus 23:20 – God's Angels Go Before You Luke 19:4-5 – Jesus Calls You by name 1 John 4:4 – Christ in You is Greater. 2 Timothy 1:7 – Victory Over Fear. James 4:7 – Submit to God and Resist the Devil.
Today's Promise: James 4:7 Today, you will come face to face with a temptation or an attack of the devil. Each day he brings custom-made temptations and spiritual attacks your way. As a follower of Christ, you have guaranteed victory over Satan if you follow this promise's three simple steps. 1. Submit to God. 2. Resist the Devil. 3. He will flee from you. So many Christians live in defeat to temptation and the attack of Satan. As you submit yourself to God and resist Satan, you will walk in victory over the enemy, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

To be a channel of God's Spirit bringing Heaven to earth, we must (1) COME to God and honour Him with praise, thanksgiving and worship (Matt 6:9), then (2) RECEIVE His Spirit and words into our heart by faith (John 7:37), then (3) RELEASE His Spirit from our heart into the earth by our WORDS of faith (Matthew 6:10, 12:34-35, John 7:38). After (1) coming to God, (2) we believe we receive the promised blessing into our heart, and then (3) we release it into the earth by confessing it with our mouth unto salvation - the manifestation of the promise (Romans 10:10). After (1) submitting to God and (2) receiving His words, (3) we can speak His words from a place of authority, causing His Kingdom to come into the earth, and forcing the enemy to flee from us (James 4:7), thus bringing His will to pass.

Responding to Jesus does not always have a positive connotation. But it does always align with the person doing the responding. When we take and place Christ as the priority or main focus, then we find ourselves on target. God created us to have a choice, never forcing himself upon us, but always longing for us to come back into right relationship with Him!

We need (1) to SUBMIT to God and His will for our finances, and then (2) take AUTHORITY over satan concerning our finances (Jam 4:7). God created all things for man's benefit (1Tim 6:17), but the god of this world actively resists God's will, so we need to know how to exercise our authority over him.
