Daily Boost Podcast Show Notes How Your Perspective Transforms Every Problem April 6, 2025 | Episode 5066 Host: Scott Smith Episode Description When life throws you a curveball, how do you respond? In this episode, Scott shares a personal story about having his flight canceled before an important business trip. Instead of panicking, he turned the situation into a game of "hide and seek" - finding solutions with the same adventurous spirit we had as kids. You'll discover how your perspective on problems determines everything and why focusing on what truly matters is essential, even in chaos. Featured Story Scott was preparing for a business trip to Chicago when he received a text that his flight was canceled. Rather than stressing out, he approached the problem like a childhood game of hide and seek - looking for available seats on another flight while his wife helped. The experience reminded him that it's not the problems we face but how we view them that determines our success and happiness. Key Takeaways How you view a problem matters more than the problem itself - approach challenges with gratitude, grace, and patience. When life gets chaotic, people typically sacrifice their future dreams and aspirations first when these should be protected. Life will always have urgent situations, but focusing on what's important to you ensures you stay on track toward your goals. Memorable Quotes "No matter what happens and what problem comes your way, it's just a bitty little thing that will pass eventually. The storm always does." "Not all dreams do come true, but the important ones always seem to come your way." "Imagine how good it would be if you consciously paid attention to those dreams, and every time life got crazy, you looked at it in a manner that would allow you to deal with it and stay in that important zone." Scott's Three-Step Approach When problems arise, step back and look at them differently - they're often not as intimidating as they first appear. Maintain perspective on the big picture and remember what indeed drives you, even as you handle urgent matters. Consciously protect your important dreams and goals when life gets chaotic rather than sacrificing them first. Connect With Me Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. “Architainment”. You might hate the term, but Sam has embraced it as it perfectly describes what he does. Coming from the theatre world, and tiring of tech week and the cue-to-cue's, Sam moved into the 9 to 5(-ish) world of architectural lighting. He still holds onto that creative theatricality and applies it to theme parks, building facades, and bridges. But that doesn't mean the work headaches have gone away. Listen to his story about the Manhattan building project that started out great, but devolved into weeks of extra work when the contractor fell behind. Sam is the sole proprietor of At Full Lighting, a company that specializes in large-scale entertainment and architectural lighting installations. Before starting At Full Lighting, he held various positions in many different areas of the lighting industry. He's sailed the high seas as shipwide show control on cruise ships, spent ten months living in Dubai commissioning & programming a new amusement park, and has volunteered his time at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival two years in a row. Sam has worked for various manufacturers and lighting integrators in the US and abroad, acting in various roles such as Project Manager, Service Technician, and Programmer. He has been an ETC Factory Certified Technician for twelve years and a member of their Advanced Programmers Group for the last eleven. He is also a certified trainer for ETC's Eos line of consoles. He received a BFA in Theatrical Lighting Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. Sam has been based out of New York for the past thirteen years.

Today Lisa continues her conversation with mega-bestselling author Dr Wayne Dyer about the power of intention, and how we can learn to create a life we love. Wayne, a dear friend of The Aware Show, joins us again to share his stories that create healing for all of us. He is one of the most popular best-selling authors and lecturers on spiritually motivational topics, and he will discuss how to look at life's challenges and see the spiritual blessings and answers. Wayne talks about questioning your spirituality, especially when negative circumstances occur. If you feel you have experienced a series of misfortunes, he suggests stopping and reminding yourself that this is a universe of abundance. Ask “what am I doing to attract this?” then aim to bring in a Higher Energy. Stop yourself and put things into perspective. Believe that things will improve. Wayne reminds us that we become what we think about. He advises us to put a picture on the refrigerator of how you would like to be. Use the “Power of Intention” and stay connected to Source Energy. Know that you are stronger than any addiction. Go to God for assistance. He also reminds us that for every act of evil, there are millions of acts of kindness, all over the world. There are just a few isolated people who are trying to convince us otherwise. Wayne is an internationally renowned author and speaker in the field of self-development and is affectionately called the “father of motivation” by his fans. He's the author of more than 35 books, has created audio programs and videos, and has appeared on thousands of television and radio shows. At the time of this interview, his latest book was “The Power of Intention.” His books “Manifest Your Destiny,” “Wisdom of the Ages,” “There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem,” and the New York Times bestsellers “10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace,” “The Power of Intention,” “Inspiration,” “Change Your Thoughts—Change Your Life,” “Excuses Begone,” and now “Wishes Fulfilled” have all been featured as National Public Television specials. He has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for public media, in an effort to raise consciousness. This is Part 2 of the interview. Info: www.drwaynedyer.com.
What does it mean if you consider yourself a “good” person, maybe someone who meditates and practices mindfulness, but then “bad things” happen to you? Do you ask yourself if it could be karmic? Do you question your spirituality? Why do negative occurrences happen seemingly out of the blue and what should you do? Episode 274: Quick Chat - Every Problem is a Thought ProblemWelcome to the Love Your Story podcast. I'm your host Lori Lee and today you are here for a Quick Chat - that's one inspirational idea in 15 minutes or less.Today chat is: Every Problem is a thought problem. It's a bold statement. But a true one. And one that sets us free. One that puts us in control, most of the time.So stay tuned as we discuss how much power ACTUALLY have, and how to solve the problems.Since you are a listener of the Love Your Story podcast I'm going to make the assumption that we are on the same page on the topic of taking responsibility for the pivotal role our thoughts play in shaping our realities. Basically - our thoughts OR stories that we create in our minds create our realities - are we on the same page there? There are 7 Billion realities going on out there…Ok. With that said, I want to start out with the quote by Byron Katie. She says, “It's not the problem that causes our suffering; it's our thinking about the problem.”In other words, “Every problem is a thought problem.”Let's put me in the hot seat. 2023 was a rough year for Realtors and lenders. The higher interest rates meant that for a great many of us the clients buying and selling slowed down. I primarily blamed my slow year on this situation, but here's another angle - a slower year allowed me to travel more. It gave me more time to reach out and renew and develop relationships with my data base - my past clients. Which part do I want to focus on? Was it a problem or an opportunity? Problems don't have to stay problems, they can become opportunities if we choose to shift our thoughts. In the realm of personal development and self reflection this idea invites us to scrutinize the nature of our challenges by recognizing the subjective nature of them. By understanding and claiming that situations and ideas only hold the power we allow them to hold. Another example - if I come from a family where being a part of a certain religion is tantamount to being right with God and the world, then if I step away from that religion my social construct - family, friends, and members of that congregation may collapse around me, or cause people pain. On the other hand, if there is an acceptance among those people that everyone find their own way in the world, in a way that each individual feels is best for them, then the suffering ceases to happen. Or, if respect is really important to me, as it is to most type A personalities and I am disrespected, I will/can feel a lot of resentment, anger, frustration, maybe even embarrassment about this, whereas someone for whom that is not an important thing may hardly notice it, or may not feel disrespected in a similar situation. In other words - situations are subjective. Problems are subjective. My mother used to get really upset when her family parties didn't unfold as she had expected - her expectations weren't met and she'd often cry before the night was through - she learned to let go of those expectations and go with the flow as the years went by, but this is a good example of a person creating pain for themselves and then learning how to adjust their thoughts in a way that created less pain for them. Now let's combine this with the idea that “everything happens for me, not to me.” With the combination of these two ideas a powerful shift occurs. A shift that can redefine the way we navigate life's complexities.Katie's assertion is that our thoughts about our circumstances themselves contribute more to our issues than do the circumstances themselves. This is an important thing to realize...

Commercial Real Estate. Uh oh. Does every single problem need the government to come in to "fix" "regulate" and "control" it?
We Can't Fix Every Problem - Mike Cohn At almost every monthly Q&A session for my AMC members, someone asks me how to solve dysfunctional management challenges. I hear it all: An impossible, imposed deadline An incredibly junior team that needs to perform at an expert level to meet an impossible deadline Management who assigns work to the team Management who holds the team accountable for their sprint plan but then adds 50 percent more work during the sprint Product owners who won't tell the team what to work on next, but then yell during the sprint review when it's the wrong thing And more. Yes, more. I feel compelled to point this out: We cannot fix every problem. We owe it to our employers to try. But our employers owe us a culture in which we can succeed. When they don't provide that culture, we have limited options. First, we should try to expose the problem (or the effects of the problem) to others who may be in a better position to address the issue. If that fails, we either need to accept the status quo or move on. If you are excited to build a strong agile team but the organization assigns your team a product owner who insists on telling the team what to do and has no willingness to change or improve, you probably aren't going to be successful. Yes. Try to educate the person. Try to persuade the person. Expose the bad behavior to stakeholders with the hope of garnering support there. But if none of that works, accept that you're in a position you cannot change. Focus your energy on things you can affect. And accept or move on from the unfortunate things in our work environments you cannot. You can be successful. Welcome to today's episode where we are going to be walking through a structured way to solve problems. It's quick, effective, and gets it right the first time. We problem solve all day every day. Sometimes we fix things the first time, sometimes it takes a few goes, and sometimes the problems simply don't go away or we need to call in an expert! The art of problem solving is not hit and miss… it is a very easy approach using 3 simple steps. Today I will walk you through these steps so you can solve every business problem, fast! Fixing things the first time, with certainty, reduces the time you invest, and gives you peace of mind! Absolute Gold Given my background in business process improvement, running businesses, and my years of teaching and applying problem solving, I am convinced we waste too much time not fixing things the first time. If we do not understand the problem, we are likely to jump to solution mode. This never works! Structured problem solving is a great way to solve issues fast and to get it right the first time!!
