The guys dive into what made being drafted by the Packers so special, not just for the Packer dynasty, but also what it meant to him as a bowhunter. Jim Rutledge and Matt Hamilton begin Hour 2 rolling off the conversation about Jeff Janis vs. Jared Abredaris, and they ask who the biggest "human mascots" are in WI sports history. Jim tries to make a case for Packers fullback John Kuuuuhn, and Matt tells the story of when he let John Kuhn touch his mustache for a nickel... Matt Hamilton continues to keep it local on this Phish Friday, asking what's the best fish for a Fish Fry. The guys go Poll Dancing, as Primetime throws out poll questions about the Packers outlook heading into next season, expectations for Doc Rivers in Milwaukee, and this weekend's AFC and NFC Championship Games. They wrap up with their expectations for Lions vs 49ers on Sunday.
In the podcast edition of this episode, I went over the moments and reflected on what was a terrific time in Green Bay Packers history. I really wish AR12 the best moving forward and I can't wait to see him return to Lambeau Field when he retires. Here are some of my favorite moments/memories/thoughts (I know I missed some) with Rodgers as the QB of the Packers:* November 29th, 2007 - Rodgers shows flashes in relief of Favre against the Cowboys (18/26, 1 TD, 0 INT, 104.8 RTG, 37-27 loss)* September 8th, 2008 - Rodgers' first start (home against the Vikings)* 24-19 win / 18/22, 1 TD, 0 INT, 1 rushing TD, 115.5 RTG* RIDICULOUS throw - https://twitter.com/TheoAshNFL/status/1380367593630879748?s=20* The Entire 2010 Playoff Run* From Weeks 9 through 17 of the 2010 Season, he threw for 1,911 yards, 16 TD, 2 INT, 122.0 RTG, and the Packers went 5-2* The brilliance in Atlanta in the Divisional Round - one of the great playoff performances by a QB ever* Hard not to mention the BJ Raji pick-six in the NFC Championship Game in Chicago - one of my favorite moments ever* He was elite in SB XLV against the Steelers - 24/39, 304 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, 111.5 RTG * The 2011 Season Was Pure Dominance* First MVP* 45 TD, 6 INT, 122.5 RTG* 5 TDs against the Bears on Christmas* The 2012 Season Might Have Been Underrated* 39 TD, 8 INT, 108 RTG, Packers went 11-5* The offense scored 25+ points in 9 games and 20+ points in 14 of 16 games* How can one forget the legendary SNF performance in Houston against the Texans?* 24/37, 338 yards, 6 TD, 0 INT, 133.8 RTG* The 2013 Season Was Filled With Moments* Hit their groove after a 1-2 start before Rodgers broke his collarbone on MNF against the Bears on November 4th in Week 9* He returned in Week 17 * Bears vs. Packers in Chicago for the NFC North title* The Randall Cobb touchdown seals the deal…one of my favorite moments* However, it ended with another playoff loss to the 49ers* The 2014 Season Was Elite Until It Wasn't* 2nd MVP captured (R-E-L-A-X after a 1-2 start)* Dominance in Week 10 against the Bears on SNF 55-14 (Rodgers 6 TD in 1st half) - followed it up with a 53-20 win over the Eagles in Week 11* 4381 yds, 38 TD, 5 INT, 112.2 RTG* The worst loss of my life was the NFCCG against the Seahawks... I really don't even want to talk about it* The 2015 Season Was Rodgers Putting the Team on His Back* Finished 10-6 after a 7-0 start - a lot of injuries* HAIL MARY #1 in Week 13* Limped into the playoffs* Lost to the Arizona Cardinals in the Divisional Round* Rodgers Hail Mary #2 * The best WR was Jeff Janis in that game due to injuries* Rodgers threw passes to Janis, Jared Abbrederis, Richard Rodgers, John Kuhn, Eddie Lacy, and James Starks in that game (lol)* Took GB to overtime against a formidable ARI team* The 2016 Season Was The “Run The Table” Season* Started 4-6 and had a brutal SNF loss in DC * Rodgers said “I think we can run the table”* And they did so* In the final six weeks of the season…* Packers went 6-0 and won the division in Week 17 at Detroit* 1667 yards, 15 TD, 0 INT, 121 RTG … I forgot how brilliant he was in that run* Despite ZERO defense, he carried them to the NFCCG in Atlanta, where they got obliterated* Hail Mary #3 in the Wild Card Round against the NY Giants* The Divisional Round game at Dallas was incredible…the Jared Cook catch* The 2017 Season Was Injury Plagued* Started 4-1, but Rodgers broke his collarbone in Week 6 due to that loser Anthony Barr* Tried to come back but struggled against the Panthers in Week 15* The 2018 Season Was The End of the McCarthy Era* It was the weirdest 25-touchdown to 2-interception season ever..Rodgers and GB's offense lacked a lot* A horrific Week 13 loss to ARI got McCarthy fired* 6-9-1 record and playoffs missed* The 2019 Season Was the Beginning of the LaFleur Era* Went 13-3 after the offense lacked sharpness* They won a lot of close games and weren't a very good team* Rodgers had two “down seasons” in 2018 and 2019, but had 51 TD and 6 INT … which is insane* Another NFCCG Loss to the 49ers* The 2020 Season May Have Been Rodgers' Best* The Aaron Rodgers —> Davante Adams connection was ABSOLUTELY ELITE in 2020* Rodgers had one bad game in 2020 - Week 6 in Tampa* Overall, he had 51 TD (3 rushing), 5 INT, and a 121.5 RTG and his 3rd MVP* The dominance against the NFC North and SNF snow game against Tennessee was very memorable* In another heartbreaking loss, the Packers went down to the Buccaneers at Lambeau in the NFCCG* They absolutely should've won this game* The 2021 Offseason Was a Disaster* Rodgers asked for a trade* It was a whole big thing* The 2021 Season Equaled Back-to-Back MVPs* The whole COVID thing happened* He threw 20 TD and 1 INT after the COVID thing* 37 TD, 4 INT, 111.9 RTG overall, and his 4th MVP* A stunning loss in the Divisional Round to the 49ers… seemed like the end of the Rodgers Era, but it wasn't * Packers traded Davante Adams to the Raiders after extending Rodgers * The 2022 Season Was Not Good* The season went downhill after the loss in London to the NY Giants* Rodgers broke his thumb and played through it after that game* They went 8-9 and had a real chance to make the playoffs in Week 18, but lost to the Lions* The last Rodgers game at Lambeau was one to forget - 17/27, 205 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 83.1 RTG* The Trade to the Jets* Overall Reflection and Thoughts on the Rodgers EraThanks for tuning in! In this episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, JR, and a returning Matub recap the Bears as much as humanly possible before discussing special teams. There is the brilliance of Rodgers and Adams, of LaFleur, of Allen Lazard as a big slot, Aaron Jones in the passing game, Marcedes, Josiah, and the unsung offensive line! They praise the defense, the transcendent Rasul Douglas, the sublime Rashan Gary, the highly motivated Preston Smith, and ruminate on whether they would have Douglas if Alexander had been healthy all year. Kenny Clark is a wrecker, and maybe Campbell is still recovering, but he'll be fine. The defense: Pretty good! And then they talk about special teams for like, a long time. And the history of bad special teams, and all-time good kick and punt returners. And Tyler Ervin, and Jeff Janis, and stuff like that. I mean, they rank last in Special Teams DVOA, and last in several subcategories of Special Teams DVOA, and they really need to fix this! Finally, they take many good listener questions, and Paul rants about Tyler Huntley, his very high college QBOPS and CPOE, why he is good, and why getting an injured Lamar Jackson is probably better for Green Bay. Paul and JR talk all things draft, including the Packers love of big people, the Packers’ greatest positions of need, cornerbacks they should take, receivers they should take, how the draft is like Buffalo Wild Wings for good and ill, Jacob Harris as Jeff Janis, finding Jonathan Marshall while watching Feleipe Franks, Mac Jones and Kyle Trask as Bears, Jordan Love, late round offensive linemen, and how the team may tick us all off by overdrafting a mediocre tight end. Plus, listener questions! The draft is the most fun, exciting, and amazing list reading of the year, and we hope everyone enjoys it. (Feleipe Franks is barely mentioned.) RotoUnderworld Radio Fantasy Football Podcast - Mind of Mansion, Ep 433: The Podfather Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion) and Josh Hornsby (@FantasyADHD) sound the alarm about David Njoku's role in Cleveland this season. Continuing our discussion of the optimal fantasy football best ball strategy. Aaron Rodgers ruined Jeff Janis' career, and he's not sorry. Matt Lacosse and Jacob Hollister are not draftable Gronk replacements. Treat Tyreek Hill as if he is radioactive until further notice. Sammy Watkins has not been efficient since 2015 and that matters. Chris Conley's squandered 2018 season was unforgivable. Matt Breida is the back to draft in San Francisco. Why Latavius Murray's ADP is still way too low. Is it possible that Derek Carr misses Jared Cook? Robert Foster could emerge at the alpha in Buffalo. Devonta Freeman is an auto-pick in the middle rounds. Lamar Miller is the fakest bell cow of all time. Jarvis Landry will be an excellent value play by August. Keelan Cole is being unfairly dismissed by best ball enthusiasts. Paul Richardson and Josh Doctson are ideal best ball receivers. Sterling Shepard can move outside successfully. James Washington is the ultimate sucker play in drafts. Vance McDonald is the big winner post-Antonio Brown in Pittsburgh. David Johnson will return to his elite running back roots this season. Christian Kirk is poised for a monster breakout. Desean Jackson will age better than most speedsters. Albert Wilson is a YAC machine. Stacking Bruce Ellington and Phillip Dorsett makes a lot of sense in best ball formats. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is a surefire breakout candidate. Tre'Quan Smith is a No. 2 wide receiver in New Orleans and no one cares. Demarcus Robinson could be the No. 2 wide receiver in Kansas City and no one cares. Fantasy gamers will regret forgetting about David Moore's 2018 breakout. Deon Cain is the perfect dynasty stash. Antonio Callaway will benefit from Cleveland's offensive resurgence. Hunter Henry and OJ Howard are top values at tight end. Cam Newton is the best value quarterback in fantasy leagues. Ryan Fitzpatrick is underrated once again. Josh Rosen should not be traded. Kyler Murray will make an instant fantasy football impact. Rod Smith qualifies for Truther status. Fresh fruit is a must-have brunch. The Saints will miss Max Unger more than anyone can possibly imagine. Advanced metrics, prospect evaluations, and fantasy football information were provided by PlayerProfiler.com
