Come see the great Tony V. THIS Friday Sept 13th at The China Blossom in N. Andover MA, where he'll be hosting and headlining night one of CFP's Wicket Funny's 2nd annual “Funniest Person In Merrimac Valley” contest – Jacques (and former CPP guests Wayne Russell from Open Mic Pain Podcast and Lauren Simms) will all be participants in. A lot of great stuff has happened with Tony since being on our podcast in March. Now, we're not saying ALL of it is a result of being on our podcast but we're not, NOT saying that either. Hey, the “CPP Bump” as it's known industry wide, has really helped a lot of careers … according to our own research (which is proprietary and we won't be sharing with the class.) Sure, it could be part strategic self-serving scheduling on our part back in March. It COULD be part coincidence. And sure, an argument could be made that these things have come about due to a life time of hard work by Tony and him being one of the best comics to ever come out of the greatest city for stand-up comedy ever. BUT his “Life Time Achievement” award from Jim McCue & The Boston Comedy Festival this year DID happen after being on our podcast. His ridiculously funny Comedy Dynamics special, “Wait Till You Hear This” did come out on Apple TV, Amazon Prime (and dozens of other places) AFTER he was on CPP. Tony was also prominently featured on the very cool John Tobin Productions launch video for their “Lil Chucks” comedy club and also, when Jacques was in LA a few weeks ago, Tony did get to co-host with the very talented Gus Vireiros at The Yard Theater in Hollywood an amazing show with Bobcat Goldthwait, again all this happened AFTER having been on CPP ... and now, this Friday's Wicket Funny CFP hosting headlining gig … come on. Hope you can get a ticket for what will be a sold-out show on Friday. Comedian, Actress and soon to be Author, the delightful Doris Ballard is out guest this week. A life-long love of theater has had Doris on stage for years. Always active in local politics and local television – Doris' standing in the Concord NH community really was a road block to pursuing the type of comedy she's meant to tell … and it's NOT for the pearl clutching faint of heart! This rapping grandma exemplifies the “don't judge a book by it's cover” when you see the host hand her the mic on stage. Nothing is off limits and no one is safe … ESPECIALLY that absolutely delightful Norm Ballard … Doris husband, uber driver, sounding board and her personal piñata (as Norm really sometimes takes a beating!) Look up the term “good sport” and there you'll find a picture of Norm. Jacques has been lucky enough to be on line ups all over New England (Maine at Jim McCue shows at Smitty's Cinema's – In New Hampshire at Dave Rattigan's shows At Murphy's Tap Room and in Lowell MA at Greg Boggis Mondo Comedy Luna Theater Shows) don't worry Vermont, you're on our list! Follow Doris across the socials and GO SEE HER SHOWS … truly, Joe's right, Kendrick LaMar be doing himself a favor by jumping onto one of Doris' show closing raps! Been a bit since Biff was on the podcast! Was a delight to have the whole starting line up back. Joe gifted Jacques TWO awesome T-Shirts for his birthday this weed and we talk Jim McCue's 3rd year anniversary shows at his comedy space in Portsmouth NH … and how Jacques did at that show! We chat the run of great guest and plug next week's sideshow with comedian Mystaru. A debate raged over Monkeys riding Swans was a possibility and it was Ostriches in the video game Joust. You know – totally current and not insanely 1984 jr high stuff. Some video game chat, so parenting tips and can Biff adopt Joe and marry Jacques and move to Japan if election in November doesn't go well for democracy? Been quit the yuk fest last two weeks for Joe and Jacques (SADLY, Biff is on ER this week) - but the numbers of shows they're gone to and a couple nights of watching Joe's Plex till 3am … they might have past the legal limit of laughter allowed. Jacques has had more “booked shows” in the last month then all last year and is hoping his 1 on 1 classes with mentor Mike Koutrobis and working with Jim McCue on HIS podcast and the Boston Comedy Festival (all next week) will lead to more spots coming up. A week after talking to the legendary comedian/actor Tony V (sideshow drops next week), Joe and Jacques saw him at Off Cabot in Beverly MA … very nice intimate setting … oh, and Tony V's BFF … Mr. Shakes The Clown, Bobcat Goldthwait. Arguably the best show they have ever been to together … then week later, they (along with Jacques' favorite sister) saw (friend of the podcast) Steve Bjork take his next special … AND Steve's walk out music was Jacques' bands latest release, Tucker (off the Trump Era EP on Spotify under Dan Cray) Couple nites on Joe's Plex together watching Batman (Adam West), Get Smart, Benny Hill (holds up) … MTV's 1985 year in review, LOTS of 70's game shows … too much fun. Where is Kate Middleton? Whiny dbags on (far right) wanna know what drugs did Sleepy Joe get from Hunter AND will we get dick picks (for the record … we hope so.) Joe and Jacques chat the AMAZING sideshows guest as of late and the ones already recorded coming up. As Jacques behest, Joe went with him to his first hosting for a Jim McCue headlining show last week … which lead to a slew of booked shows coming up …which means … Joe's still on hook to help Jacques with his mid-life cry for help stand up mishaps. The Blizzard of 24 that wasn't, car registration nightmare, is DECA (Distributive Education Club of America) a brilliant free business consulting labor … scam. Joe's playing lots of VR games and Taylor Swift used her government power to help her boyfriend win the big game. This is the first of a four-part series about influential German shorthaired pointers from the NW United States. Charles and Fred Rice head to Idaho to talk with Ron Laird and Jim McCue. Ron hunted and handled pointing dogs in field trials most notably a German shorthaired pointer named Jack-Beier's Evolution. Jim McCue's father Doc owned Jack. In this conversation, we wander from hunting stories to what made Jack one of the "greats." And if you can't do that … check out Jim's DryBar Comedy Special on YouTube … which they shot in Utah … lot less drunks at shows in Utah! Joe and Jacques WILL be seeing Jim in person this Thursday (June 22) in Lowell at The Luna Theater (inside Mill #5) for Mondo Comedy (hosted by past CPP guest Greg Boggis!) Jim start in comedy, in part thanks to Richard Belzer … talks playing cat and mouse with hecklers, prepping for crowd work by having held and by fired by every type of job you can imagine before his career took off … and career advice from Dad … sort of. This is a special SUMMER edition podcast of Season 2 of our A Revolution in Education podcast, a collaboration between Jim McCue and two students at the Charlotte Lab School, Albert (Tré) Kirton III and his friend Branson Flynn, joined by Charlotte Lab leaders Mary Moss, Ricky Singh, and Vikki-Rose Tunick, and fellow students John Harmon and Kylie Southivongnorath. Mary, Vikki-Rose, and Ricky share how the Lab School started (and why they started it) and the students share their first impressions of the school and the impact it has had on them. Everyone speaks to “the Lab Way,” focusing on relationships, WHO each student is, diversity by design, rigor and innovation, learning in the real world, and self-discovery through their advisory. What we appreciate about this episode is that Tré and Branson embraced the opportunity to co-produce the podcast, co-designing the format, making the arrangements, hosting the conversation, and even editing the final product. As we say, we believe in giving youth the opportunity to learn through meaningful, authentic experiences. And here again is yet one more example of what is possible when you do. Enjoy!
My good friend and co-host of Season 2 of a Revolution in Education, Jim McCue, and I were blessed to have three students from Barrington High School join us as a team in the production of this podcast series. Jack Culton, Xan Maddock-Mark, and Hunter Kuchenbaur, joined us in this effort. One thing we both deeply believe is that youth should learn about the world, explore their interests, and pursue their passions through authentic activity in the world. In this podcast, Hunter references a quote from a former One Stone student who says, "Why are you preparing for me to be in the world when I want to be in the world right now." Jim and I both believe that engaging youth in real-world, authentic activity is the best way to assist and support youth in exploring and discovering their potential interests as well come to discover, develop, and pursue their skills in making a difference in the world. Having Jack, Xan, and Hunter become the production team for our podcast, as well as the primary designers of our website and architects of our social media pursuits, and for us to work AS a team not only benefited us ... but we hope them too. Which you can hear about here. Take a listen!
Episode #80: Sandeep Dutt in conversation with Jim McCue, who works with Partners in School Innovation, and his focus is renewing the promise of public education. An Education Policy Fellow; Leadership for Educational Equity; Independent Consultancy; Partnering with several nonprofit organizations and charter schools to conduct empathetic, student-led redesign of long-term, sustainable strategic planning and fundraising related to inclusive, equity-based ecosystems, social and emotional health for stakeholders, and improvements in mathematical agency and culture building. Professional Learning Community Leader; Teach For America; Cross Country & Long-Distance Track Coach. He has to his credit courses from Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, University of Washington Seattle, WA and Master of Public Administration. Cohosts a podcast ‘A Revolution in Education' with Chris Unger, Teaching Professor of Northeastern University. In this show, he shares the role of community members in making education a priority with a focus on inequity. What it means to be a learner; how running and teaching are intervened, both need perseverance and accountability, with no real day off! The training process is continuous, on the so-called off-day you can sleep, hydrate, breathe, walk to the grocery store and do what rejuvenates you, thereby taking your learning forward. In todays' day, we need to think about why I am a teacher, what has changed and what is the role of each stakeholder. Above all, we need a growth mindset. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/learningforward/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/learningforward/support
Season 2 Episode 8: We LOVE this episode because it is so AMAZING what Abhijit Sahni has been able to create (Project DEFY: Design Education for Yourself). His story itself is amazing. He was taking the typical path, school to career, and realized he was much happier creating and making amazing things, so left the typical path and started a new one. And began to create spaces where community members could do the same. Sandeep Dutt, social entrepreneur, author of My Good School, Learning Forward podcaster, and HundrED ambassador, adds his thoughts. And our very good friend, Cath Fraise, founder of 100 Roads and Workspace Education, adds to the fun. Hear how Abhijit has created self-directed, community-driven spaces of “creating, making, and doing,” where the community is creating their own learning and making their own solutions. A big thanks to Chris Unger, Jim McCue and the team at A Revolution In Education. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/learningforward/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/learningforward/support

Tony V duels Jim McCue founder of The Boston Comedy Festival. Will Jim be able to take home the coveted Dueling Comedians trophy? Each week, Boston comedy legend Tony V welcomes a guest comedian. They tell stories, talk about comedy and share some laughs. However, it’s not all fun and games. This is a serious competition, where Tony V and his guest engage in a comedy duel. In a fast paced back and forth battle, they use jokes as the weapons to see who will emerge victorious in this comedic dual. Laugh Track Larry will be the referee of this comedy free for all. Only one comedian can win the competition. Only the winner will earn the bragging rights that comes along with the coveted Dueling Comedians trophy. Dueling Comedians is a proud member of the United Podcast Network and is recorded live in front of a studio audience at the Studio 21 Podcast Café located high atop Two Guys Smoke Shop in Salem, NH.
This week's episode is a panel discussion with comedians Kathe Farris, Emily Ruskowski, Erin Spencer, and Carolyn Plummer with new music from illuminati hotties. It's the very first time the Department of Tangents was recorded live in front of an audience. The North East Comic Con and Collectibles Extravaganza expanded its podcast panels and its comedy offerings this year, and I was lucky to nab all four comedians on the Friday night show presented by The Boston Comedy Festival before they took the stage. That's BCF founder Jim McCue we're thanking at the end. I haven't done a lot of panel shows before, but if they are as interesting as this one, I may have to make a point of doing more. Farris, Ruskowski, Spencer, and Plummer all have great stories of how they got into comedy and found who they were as comedians. Farris started and then stopped for years due to family obligations. Ruskowski is a social worker. Spencer bombed on purpose her first time onstage. Plummer has worked every kind of room you can imagine, from clubs to, as she calls them, “dead animal lodges.” A good chunk of the conversation centered around identity and experience. And there were some delightful moments where the comics asked each other questions, and I just got to sit back and listen. Carolyn Plummer Emily Ruskowski Kathe Farris This week's featured track, “Pressed 2 Death” by illuminati hotties from their album Kiss Yr. Frenemies. If you like your hooks with a sense of humor, this is the band for you. The songs are witty and fun, but some of the punchlines are in the music. It's a punk attitude, they'll give you a song you can hum and a raspberry. Literally, in this case. Enjoy “Pressed 2 Death” by illuminati hotties.
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. So I thought I'd take Thanksgiving off this year and advantage to dig up this classic, apparently Thanksgiving-themed, episode of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast — yes, that’s what it was called back in November of 2015. I haven't heard this one in a while. But I looked at the list of clips - some of these shows aren’t even around any more - and I look forward to taking this journey back in time with you when the show was only a little more than four years old. Now-executive producer Marc Hershon was the host, I was the associate producer, and the show was still using the P word when referring to itself. I'll have a fresh batch of clips for you in two weeks. Until then, let's get to remembering together… • • • (Original blog content from November 23, 2015) What? Me, Marc Hershon, your host and toaster pastry? Back within a week with another installment of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast? Yes, it’s true. This is Succotash Clips, Epi 120. And we have a Thanksgiving Feast of comedy podcast clips for you. It’s a veritable spread of different flavors and — given the humor in some of them — truly a groaning board of a clip buffet in store for your ears this time around. We’ve got The All-Seeing Guys, Bitter Sound, Ear Goggles, Ice & The Face, The McCue Report, Primalcast, The Reigning Lunatic, Rob & Slim, The Vince Wylde Show and Who Charted? In addition to that earload, we’ve got a visit to the Podcast Graveyard, courtesy of our associate producer Tyson Saner, who also harvested a number of the clips we’ve got on hand. We also have another double dose of our Burst O’ Durst with political comedian and social commentator Will Durst, a rummage around the ol’ Tweetsack, and a brand new Henderson’s Pants commercial. Other than our ads from Henderson’s Pants, Succotash remains fitfully sponsor-free. The good news: you aren’t burdened by listening to those pesky ads. The bad news: money to keep this show going basically comes out of my pocket. You can help out with one of several methods, all done by visiting our homesite at http://SuccotashShow.com. You can click on the Donate button and shoot us some moolah. You can click on the Amazon banner at the top of the page and buy stuff at Amazon, then they give us a slice off the top. Or you can click on the link to our Succotashery and purch some merch, a percentage of which comes back to us after they print up whatever you buy. Or you can keep on listening to this show for free and just know that, in the back of my head, I’m thinking you’re just an electronic freeloader. No guilt, no judgement, though. The Clips Ear GogglesSo you might remember when I announced on this show earlier this year when the 10-year-old podcast known as Sibling Rivalry celebrated its decadeness was re-branded as Ear Goggles. I ran into 2/3’s of the hosting team – Jeremy Grater and Susan Black – last September at the 4th Annual Los Angeles Podcast Festival. Host #3 – Aaron Ristrow – lives on the East Coast, as opposed to his Seattle-based compadres. I chatted with them, which we featured during the PodFest upload frenzy, and they chatted with me for their show, which just dropped recently. The Rob & Slim Show Just this last week I was a call-in guest on the LIVE partycast known as The Rob & Slim Show. They’ve been retweeting our stuff the past few months and I had just had Tyson clip me off a chunk of a recent show but, I figured as long as I was going to be on their show, we may as well use THAT clip. Rob and Slim — I haven’t been able to find much else about them or the other voice that seem to float around during their ‘cast — run a 3+ hour live whoop-de-doo, in the style of a morning radio show as they put it and they cover the gamut of topics that are fresh in and around the news. Plus they drink. How can you lose? The Bitter SoundThis clip comes to us from The Bitter Sound, uploaded directly to us by host Davian Dent. He and sidekick Matt Bubbles managed to get OUR booth announcer, Bill Heywatt, to call in for a visit. (I can’t get the guy to stand still in Studio P long enough to do another Boozin’ With Bill segment yet these jokers get him just like that. I even pay the guy’s salary!) Oh well. If the only way we can get Bill on the show is with him being slightly tanked and yammering on a clip from someone else’s show, so be it. The Reigning Lunatic Friend-of-Succotash Geoffrey Welchman, who was the former host of the now-kaput Inverse Delirium podcast, came roaring back after a time away from Podcastland with a brand new offering! The Reigning Lunatic is a scripted situation comedy about a crazy king and his hapless servants and subjects. Geoffrey asked me to play a part in the series opener as Sir Jerry, and I, being an audio whore, was only too happy to comply. Ice & The FaceSo we had several direct uploaded clips this week (through our upload link at http://hightail.com/u/Succotash) including one from someone named Rick. His cover note with the upload reads: “Hello, my name is Rick, and I had a conversation with someone on twitter today from Succotash. I said I would provide a five minute clip from our comedy show, Ice and The Face, for your show. This clip is from episode #75 - 10.9.15. We hope you enjoy it! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email or twitter DM if you like. You're show is awesome, and we very much appreciate your interest and are looking forward to hearing back. Thank you, Rick” Cool. Thanks, Rick! Who Charted?I’m not sure we’ve ever featured a clip from this next show before. Not sure why. Who Charted? has been around forever and is quite beloved. They cover the hits that are charting in music and movies, with lots of comedy guests. The hosts are Howard Kremer and Kulap Vilaysack normally, but in this episode clipped by our Associate Producer Tyson Saner, Kulap is off, replaced by guest co-host Emily V. Gordon, who hosts another podcast – The Indoor Kids – with her husband, Kumail Nanjiani. Their guest is James Adomian, who’s gotten some attention lately because of his Bernie Sanders impression. The Vince Wylde Show Tyson harvested us a clip from a new-to-me show, The Vince Wylde Show, part of the AM Podcast Network. (Not sure what that is, but the AM comes from the network founder, Adam Mulholland.) The Vince Wylde blurb on the homesite reads, “The Radio Show with Attitude, Humor, and great production. From Schizophrenic Studios on the 36th Floor of the FMI Building.” I don’t know where the Fmi building is, either. In this clip, Vince and his partner on the show, a guy named Ben sample some soft drinks from a company called Carbonated Atrocities. Bottoms up! The McCue Report There’s a show from the Boston area that reached out to Tyson Saner directly, which is another way to go if you’re looking to be clipped on our show, called The McCue Report. It features comedian Jim McCue interviewing interesting and entertaining people, according to their homesite. The show’s been chugging along for about a year and a half now, and is part of Boston Comedy Festival Radio. In this clip, which was furnished to Tyson via Twitter, McCue chats with his guest, standup comedian Al Park, about working on the road. The All Seeing GuysOur man in Great Britain, Davian Dent, when he’s not producing his own podcasts – The Bitter Sound and Strange Times – is out looking for other fun stuff to put in his ears. This time he’s sent some of it along to us. It’s a clip from a show I’ve not caught yet, called The All-Seeing Guys, and features two blokes — are guys still called blokes in England? — named Greg and Joe. As I said, a cornucopia of podcasts for your Thanksgiving week listening pleasure. Take us with you on that long drive to the relatives' house or listen while you're digesting on the couch after stuffing your face. And for those of you NOT in the United States, have a great Thursday and Friday. Whether you're celebrating Thanksgiving or not, remember that I don’t care if you pass the turkey or the stuffing or the pumpkin pie, but I will always thank you for passing the Succotash! — Marc Hershon (Ending original blog post.) • • • And that was a show-sized clip of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast, as the soundcast Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast used to be known. I really enjoyed hearing that episode again I don't think I'd heard it since it was first uploaded and like a Thanksgiving turkey should be, that episode was absolutely what you could refer to as being well-stuffed. I don't really have anything else to add except to say thank you to Marc Hershon, Bill Heywatt, Joe Paulino, Scott Carvey, and you - the listener. Thank you for listening, Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for passing the Succotash. – Tyson Saner
Ace and I headed up to Boston this week to talk to Jim McCue. Jim is a comedy veteran who is a favorite on USO Tours and is the founder of the Boston Comedy Festival. He has had and interesting career and is very driven. Our thanks to the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston for hosting us.
We are back again with more food and laughs. This week David takes us to San Antonio, TX where he worked with the lovely Kristen Key at the LOL Comedy Club. David and the Mrs. went and checked out The Smoke Shack where the ribs are smoked with HONEY! Meanwhile Andy had a blast, (and one super weird show), in Port Charlotte, FL at Visani's, The Comedy Zone working with Jim McCue who is apparently a little more famous than he lets on (or really, Andy is just an idiot.) Visani's is a restaurant/dinner theater and has the most amazing food, especially for a comedy club, so Andy gives it nothing but a glowing review. We tell you why you don't order pie at the Waffle House and you can't miss the story of Andy being forced to yell at an Old Lady. (She brought it on herself.) Enjoy!

If the only way we can get Bill on the show is with him being slightly tanked and yammering on a clip from someone else’s show, so be it. The Reigning LunaticFriend-of-Succotash Geoffrey Welchman, who was the former host of the now-kaput Inverse Delirium podcast, came roaring back after a time away from Podcastland with a brand new offering! The Vince Wylde ShowTyson harvested us a clip from a new-to-me show, The Vince Wylde Show, part of the AM Podcast Network. Bottoms up! The McCue ReportThere’s a show from the Boston area that reached out to Tyson Saner directly, which is another way to go if you’re looking to be clipped on our show, called The McCue Report. It features comedian Jim McCue interviewing interesting and entertaining people, according to their homesite. The show’s been chugging along for about a year and a half now, and is part of Boston Comedy Festival Radio. In this clip, which was furnished to Tyson via Twitter, McCue chats with his guest, standup comedian Al Parks, about working on the road. — Marc Hershon
