According to multiple reports, The American Farm Bureau Federation, which uses volunteer shoppers in all 50 states to survey prices, found in its 40th annual Thanksgiving dinner survey, that the cost of Thanksgiving dinner shows moderate decline this year: about a 5% decrease from 2024. First Thanksgiving Feast - "Take, Eat: He Is Writing a Testimony in You" - 1 Kings 19:3-6; 1 Corinthians 11:26; John 9:1-25 Have you ever come to the end of yourself—spent, done, written off—only to find that God shows up right on time? Elijah did, under a broom tree in the wilderness, when a simple meal of bread and water restored his strength and hope. Just like that, the table becomes a testimony—a proclamation of what Christ has done for us. You may think you don't have a story worth sharing, but every life changed by Jesus is a testimony in progress. Like the man in John 9 who simply said, “I was blind, but now I see,” that's enough. God is still writing your story. Be thankful—this isn't the end, it's just another chapter of His grace.

Jesus didn't relegate us to the kids' table—but maybe that's exactly where we belong. After all, the kids' table is the best one, where the children of the King gather to feast in grace and joy.

First Thanksgiving Feast - "Take, Eat: Thankful for the Hope of Salvation" - Exodus 16:1-15; Matthew 26:26-28 From manna in the wilderness to bread at the table, God's story of redemption has always been told through a meal. In Exodus, He provided the first taste of His provision—and Jesus completed it when He broke bread with His followers. Over that simple meal, He gave thanks for what symbolized His own body and blood, soon to be broken and shed for us. Even facing the cross, Jesus was thankful—joyful—for the Father's perfect plan. This serves to remind us that gratitude isn't just for blessings we can see, but for the salvation we've received.

Blind Hog and Acorn had a delicious feast with the kiddos at the Springfield House.  The farmers had their fill, ,visited a while, then made it back to the farm at dark to do chores.Speaking of chores- the Mahidra got a new battery which called for contortions and manipulations to get the old one out and the new one in.  Acorn also got a toilet running like new and a bit of toilet functionality was learned.  Garden is now cleared of all dead plant matter, goats sleeping in both barns, ,alternating nights it seems.  No kids yet, knock wood.Next week a trip to KC is on the agenda- return items to IKEA and pick up a new gander on the way home.  Blind Hog's cardiac event monitor is chugging along- Acorn made him a fancy holder for the cell phone monitor.

I'm talking about the real thing, the big gobbler – 46 million of which we Americans will devour this Thanksgiving.It was the Aztecs who first domesticated the gallopavo, but the invading Spanish conquerors “fouled-up” the bird's origins. They declared it to be related to the peacock – Wrong! They also thought the peacock originated in Turkey – Wrong! And, they thought Turkey was located in Africa – well, you can see the Spanish were pretty confused.Actually, even the origin of Thanksgiving Day in the US is confused. The popular assumption is that it was first celebrated by the Mayflower immigrants and the Wampanoag natives at Plymouth, Massachusetts, 1621. They feasted on venison, furkees (Wampanoag for gobblers), eels, mussels, corn, and beer. But wait, say Virginians, the first Thanksgiving Food-a-Palooza was not in Massachusetts – the feast originated down here in Jamestown colony, back in 1608.Whoa there, pilgrims! Folks in El Paso, Texas, say it all began way out there in 1598, when Spanish settlers sat down with people of the Piro and Manso tribes, to give thanks, feasting on roasted duck, geese and fish.“Ha!” says a Florida group, asserting the very, very first Thanksgiving happened in 1565 when the Spanish settlers of St. Augustine and friends from the Timucuan tribe chowed-down on “cocido” – a stew of salt pork, garbanzo beans and garlic – washing it all down with red wine.Wherever it began, and whatever the purists claim is “official,” Thanksgiving today is as multicultural as America. So, let's enjoy!
