James Mangold has one of the more eclectic filmmaking careers. From indie dramas to romantic comedies to R-rated superheros and now Indiana Jones, Mangold's films run the gamut. We were excited to explore this filmography and shocked to discover that Mangold lifts the time travel dynamics directy from Kate & Leopold for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. They get into this week's romcom, Kate & Leopold, from 2001 starring Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman. They are floored to see Viola Davis as a dayplayer before being floored at the thought of living in the 1800s with no rights as a woman. Dragon on The Couch: The Dragon watched Jackass Forever (Theater), which she loved despite her hatred of pranks and CTE. Next ,she watched Drive My Car (Theater), a Japanese indie film which was slow paced but she really enjoyed. Finally, she watched The Piano (Showtime), which she found to be really good with great actors. Berto on the Bed: Berto starts by talking about Transformers 3: Dark of The Moon (Netflix), which he found to be slightly enjoyable, but with very bad action, much like the other Transformers movies. He was then reminded of Bumblebee (Paramount +), which was the only Transformer movie he enjoyed. Next, Berto talked about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Netflix) remake from 2003 and it's prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (Netflix), both of which he said were gory and fine as horror movies, but ultimately very forgettable. Berto also watched Django & Django (Netflix), a decent documentary about spaghetti westerns with Quentin Tarantino. Next, he watched Asylum (Tubi), a bad horror movie with a bad story, but very interesting characters. Finally, Berto watched Jack Frost 2 (Tubi), which he found horrible with no redeeming qualities. This week's deep dive is the 2001 rom-com Kate & Leopold, currently streaming on Hulu.

In this week's episode Rob Newton and Alex Tourje try to change the time traveling ending to "Kate & Leopold".
Join Dan and Brian as they revisit a forgotten time-travel romcom from a simpler time. Brian, an avowed Hugh Jackman fanboy, praises his charm and silky accent, while Dan ponders if Meg Ryan was the right casting for his counterpoint. They pick apart the film's time loops and elevator paradoxes as Dan pitches a Kate & Leopold cinematic universe and Brian shares his movie rating framework. This week we continue our season of time travel movies with aa light hearty fantasy comedy. Please enjoy.
On Episode 23 of You've Got Love, we're traveling through time and space to talk romance and intentions. That's right, our subject this week is James Mangold's Kate & Leopold from 2001. This fantasy romance is a hoot as fish-out-of-water Hugh Jackman attempts to woo modern working girl Meg Ryan with the help of her brother and the disdain of her boss. So, tune in as we break down the relationships that drive the narrative of Kate & Leopold.
In this episode, Greg and Lian discuss the films Stardust (2007) and Kate & Leopold (2001). There are a few places in the background where you can hear Lian's cat, so apologies. As this is our inaugural episode, there's definitely going to be some sound issues. Follow us on Letterboxd, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook @movieketchuppod
In this second episode of ‘You Should See The Other Guy,' Jenn, Sadie, and Samantha lay out an argument for time-traveling super genius Stuart Besser (Liev Schreiber) over blast-from-the-past Leopold (Hugh Jackman) in the 2001 rom-com Kate & Leopold, which stars Meg Ryan as an advertising executive with a deeply unfortunate haircut.

This week Will and Marc travel to the past and then the present and then, inexplicably, back to the past to look at the romance between Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman in James Mangold's 2001 film KATE & LEOPOLD. Join in as they discuss the downsides of the 1870s, the start of Jackman's career, the Sears catalog, and the thinnest floors ever made. Plus: Has Kate really never left Manhattan? Why do elevator shafts exist in 2001 in this movie? What's the deal with the quill? And how many of TIME's "worst chick flicks" has Fiona seen? Make sure to rate, review, and subscribe! In honor of the most patriotic of months, Will and Marc are taking a look at presidential romance with Rob Reiner's 1995 film THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT, written by Aaron Sorkin and starring Michael Douglas and Annette Bening. Join in as they discuss their favorite movies about America, the career of Aaron Sorkin, Liberty's Kids, romantic hams, and depressingly timely political issues. Plus: Is WHITE CHRISTMAS racist? How did this movie lead to The West Wing? What happened to the Libyans? Did Martin Sheen really offer to get the president a prostitute? And did Maureen Dowd even bother to finish the movie? I recently sat down with my very good friend Julio Macias. We discuss his parents early life in Mexico City and some of the struggles they had to overcome as young adults, including his mothers brave involvement at protesting the Olympics held in her home town in Mexico in the 1960’s, and why Julio is proud to call his mother a feminist. He shares a very intimate story about how he and his family were once held at gun point when he was just a child, and the decision his parents made to aim for a safer life in the United States. We find out about Julio’s embarrassing first day of school in America, and the one friend he found solace with named Kennith (shout out to Kennith!) I ask Julio about the experience working on his breakout role, Oscar ‘Spooky’ Diaz, that he portrays on the Netflix series “On My Block.” He then tries his hardest to discuss a scene from the film “Kate & Leopold,” but we realize we’ve accidentally got to drunk during this recording to make any damn sense... so that happens. Oh and Rachel makes a cameo! Love, Krisinstagram: @ajuliomacias @kristianlugo
