Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to US President Donald Trump this afternoon in what the US president said was a "very good call". For some reaction to this afternoon's discussion Kira Rudik, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament.
President Donald Trump has made it crystal clear that he intends to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible, whether or not the outcome is considered fair. To do this, the leader of the free world has ‘paused' aid to Ukraine, which rapidly changed President Zelensky's defiant tone that was witnessed in the last meeting between the two leaders. Cruel? Maybe. Underhanded? Possibly. Effective? Absolutely. For a discussion on US/Ukraine relations, Piers Morgan speaks to Member of Ukrainian Parliament, Kira Rudik, British veteran of the Ukrainian Army Macer Gifford, 'PBD' podcast host Vinny Oshana, decorated Iraq veteran and podcaster from 'Can't Cancel Rob Smith' Rob Smith and author of 'Bad News' and 'Second Class', Batya Ungar Sargon. Then, Piers pivots to a discussion on whether the Tate brothers should be welcomed by MAGA, or at the very least Florida, and what Meghan Sussex (neé Markle) was thinking when she decided to release her show on Netflix. In the early hours of 24 February 2022, Russia launched a brutal invasion of its neighbour, Ukraine. True to his yearslong strategy of lies and disinformation, Vladimir Putin said he had launched a “special miliary operation” to “denazify Ukraine”. “It is not our plan to occupy the Ukrainian territory,” said Putin. Ukraine is now under siege, bombarded from all sides. Cruise missiles and cluster bombs have targeted civilians – and a Holocaust Memorial. In this first episode of a new season and a new world, we hear from Ukrainians on the ground in Kyiv as they prepare to fight for their survival, their families and their nation. And we hear from people in Russia. It seems that few beyond Putin have any appetite for war, least of all nuclear conflict. Kira Rudik leads a Ukrainian political party: she tells us why she's taken up arms. Back in Westminster, Chris Bryant MP explains how this invasion was always on the cards, and what on earth is happening inside Vladimir Putin's head.
