Editor: Re: “Shorts and stops: property taxes, medicine, empathy …,” June 4 “Mary Clen” is wise to continue using an assumed name. She might be OK now, but history tells us everyone is fair game for being attacked by Trump and/ or his supporters. In Waco March 25, 2023, Trump portrayed himself as a victim and painted himself in the same light as those who have been wronged by saying, “I am your retribution.” 134 days into his second term, he is fulfilling his rhetoric of retribution. Consider the plight of people like Miles Taylor, Chris Krebs, Anthony Fauci, John...Article Link

Today on Mea Culpa, I'm joined by my friend Miles Taylor, the former DHS chief of staff who exposed Trump as a danger to our country. Taylor initially spoke out under the pseudonym “Anonymous,” and since revealing his identity, he, like me, has become one of Trump's top targets. In April, Trump signed an executive order calling for a federal investigation into Taylor, a blatant example of his second-term revenge campaign and the weaponization of government power. In this episode, we unpack the brewing civil war between Trump and Elon Musk, the risks of surveillance abuse, and Trump's terrifying plans for mass detentions, military crackdowns, and even torture tactics at the border. Taylor exposes how Trump is using federal agencies to destroy lives, silence dissent, and push an authoritarian agenda that could spiral out of control if not stopped. Rahm Emanuel has had just about every job in politics under the sun: congressman, White House chief of staff, U.S. ambassador, Chicago mayor, and more. “I'm pretty pragmatic about politics and almost cold to a point in my analysis,” he tells White House bureau chief Dasha Burns. Emanuel, who is widely believed to be considering a run for President in 2028, tells Burns that Democrats should “stop talking about bathrooms and locker rooms and start talking about the classroom.” As the first Jewish mayor of Chicago, he also talks about the recent anti-Semitic attacks and whether America is ready for a Jewish president. Plus, Burns is joined by Politico Magazine editor Elizabeth Ralph to talk about the magazine's recent Q&A with Miles Taylor in the wake of Trump's executive order targeting him, and the rise of jawline surgery among DC's male population. President Donald Trump applied a rarely used law to deploy the National Guard as ICE protests erupted in Los Angeles. How was he able to bypass the governor, and how can this conflict escalate? Former Trump DHS official, Miles Taylor, breaks it down. Plus, Representative LaMonica McIver joins The Weekend ahead of her court appearance for charges of allegedly assaulting an officer during an ICE oversight visit in New Jersey.
John is joined by former Department of Homeland Security chief of staff Miles Taylor to discuss the recent executive order by Donald Trump directing federal law enforcement agencies to investigate Taylor (for unnamed and unknown crimes) and his fledgling efforts to fight back. Taylor—who rose to prominence during Trump's first term with a New York Times op-ed and No. 1 bestselling book, written under the pen name Anonymous, that detailed a “quiet resistance” within the administration—describes the financial, professional, emotional impacts of being declared “guilty of treason” by Trump for no specified reason aside from having publicly criticized him; the legal countermeasures Taylor plans to undertake; and the wider political implications of his case. Today's West Coast Cookbook & Speakeasy Podcast for our especially special daily special, Tarrytown Chowder Tuesday is now available on the Spreaker Player!Starting off in the Bistro Cafe, the New York Bar Council is addressing a complaint about top Trump official Emil Bove by kicking it back to Trump's DOJ.Then, on the rest of the menu, ex-Homeland Security official Miles Taylor is fighting back against Trump's ‘unprecedented' investigation order; NOAA says it will hire ‘mission-critical' weather service positions that were cut because ketamine-addled, apartheid-loving South African Boers said they know better; and, OAN's ‘MAGA Girl' Pentagon reporter learned the limits of expressing her own opinion. After the break, we move to the Chef's Table where the Dutch Prime Minister said his coalition government will become a caretaker administration after far-right lawmaker Geert Wilders pulled his ministers out of the Cabinet; and, the Liberal candidate is forecast to win South Korea's snap presidential election. All that and more, on West Coast Cookbook & Speakeasy with Chef de Cuisine Justice Putnam.Bon Appétit! The Netroots Radio Live PlayerKeep Your Resistance Radio Beaming 24/7/365!“As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.” -- Ernest Hemingway "A Moveable Feast"Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/west-coast-cookbook-speakeasy--2802999/support.
Som en del av Trumps hevntokt mot sine kritikere, utstedte han en presidentordre mot Miles Taylor - for landsforræderi. Bare én måned seinere, stod han på scenen i Bergen. Taylor var stabsjef i Department of Homeland Security, under nettopp Trump.

The US government's mistaken removal of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador has captured national attention, and it's as stunning as it is heart breaking. So Mary and Andrew dedicate the bulk of this week's episode to what's happened since the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration must follow the lower court's order to facilitate his return. So far, the administration seems to be slow-walking the process, dodging accountability for the fact that Abrego Garcia was never afforded his due process rights, a core American principle. Andrew and Mary go on to explain each consecutive government response, and two habeas petitions that have been granted a TRO since last week's Supreme Court decision. Before wrapping up, they highlight the cancelling of a landmark civil rights deal in Alabama, and Trump's latest retribution in action-- targeting individuals, the Associated Press and Harvard.Further reading: Here is Mary's OpEd in the Washington Post: It's time to compel Justice officials to testify on Abrego García.And please vote for your favorite MSNBC podcasts in this year's Webby Awards:Prosecuting Donald Trump in the Podcasts - Crime & Justice category: VOTE HEREWhy Is This Happening? Republicans go into full propaganda mode to sell Trump's reversal on tariffs as the culmination of a brilliant master strategy—until Trump himself admits it was just a reaction to the markets freaking out. Meanwhile, in one of his scariest, most authoritarian moves yet, Trump orders investigations into two former aides for the sin of criticizing him and telling the truth about the 2020 election. House Republicans manage to pass the Senate budget resolution, which calls for massive cuts to Medicaid to pay for Trump's billionaire tax cut. And the second act of the Resistance notches some meaningful wins on immigration and Social Security. Jon and Dan discuss why the market turmoil from Trump's tariffs will continue, the next steps for the GOP's budget plan, and how Democrats should be talking about all of it. Then, Dan is joined by physician, best-selling author, and public health expert Atul Gawande to talk about RFK Jr.'s mission to destroy the agency he now runs, and why he forced out the FDA's top vaccine regulator. This week's show is sponsored by: EPIC-MRA Public Opinion Research MIRS News Fulton Fish Market This week on ""A Republic, If You Can Keep It" Thousands demonstrate against Trump's destruction of the government and economy. Is this a replay of the movements that brought Civil Rights laws in the 1960's, the end of the VietNam war in the 1970s, and the birth of the GOP rightward leap via the Tea Party in the 2009 and the women's movement of the 2010s? Governor Whitmer has reinforced talk of a 2028 presidential run with a high-profile speech in Washington this week … paired with a one-on-one meeting with Donald Trump. Was she measuring the curtains in the Oval Office? Penguins are breathing a sigh of relief as Trump blinks on his one-man demolition of the economy. But the slingshot economic tactics are a political threat to the reelection campaigns of Republicans nationwide and in Michigan - with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee now targeting 3 Republican-held districts in our state. One of those Trump-backing Republicans, Congressman John James, says he's running for Governor, meaning his 10th district congressional seat is a definite flip opportunity for Democrats. We'll be joined by the latest Democratic candidate for that job, Macomb County assistance prosecuting attorney Christina Hines. Trump is weaponizing the once respected DOJ by ordering criminal investigations into two critics in the private sector: Chris Krebs and Miles Taylor. Online rumors fueled by Indivisible warn Trump may invoke the Insurrection Act to shut down protest rallies across the nation Mallory McMorrow's media rollout for her Senate campaign goes national: multiple MSNBC appearance plus "The Daily Show" Larry Sabato's initial House election projections show Democrats with a slight advantage, with 5 Michigan congressional districts in play One of the most-watched congressional races in the nation next year will be centered in Macomb County and Michigan's 10th district. With John James running for Governor, the swing district is a definite coin toss. Democrats will have a competition in the primary. Last month we talked with Alex Hawkins, the first announced candidate. Joining the race in the last week: Christina Hines. A graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State Law School, Hines ran for Macomb County Prosecutor in 2024 against sitting prosecutor Peter Lucido, with Lucido receiving 57% of the vote while Hines held 43%. Prior to that, she served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Wayne County before heading up the Special Victims Unit in Washtenaw County. The market's been swinging like it's had three espressos and no breakfast—and Trump's tariff rollercoaster is to blame. After tanking the economy with massive trade threats, he's now backing down on some of them, trying to calm the storm he created. Spoiler: it's not working. But while the market melts down, Trump's doing something even more alarming: weaponizing the DOJ to investigate former officials who dared to speak out against him—Miles Taylor and Chris Krebs among them. We're diving into the economic mess and the creeping authoritarianism. Because tariffs are bad—but turning federal law enforcement into a revenge squad? That's much, much worse. CannCon and Alpha Warrior unpack a massive day of moves from the Trump administration, starting with three executive actions targeting censorship kingpins Chris Krebs and Miles Taylor. As security clearances are revoked and DOJ investigations launched, the hosts connect the dots between election interference, CCP-linked institutions, and a broader plan to dismantle the regime's narrative machine. They shift to Panama, where Trump secures U.S. military priority in the canal, effectively undercutting Chinese influence in one of the world's most strategic trade routes. With insight into CCP infrastructure and global logistics, Alpha lays out how Trump is boxing in adversaries abroad while restoring economic power at home. The conversation rounds out with a breakdown of the 125% China tariff, why the markets are flipping out, and how this is all part of a much bigger, and deliberate...reset.
Jon Herold returns with a sharp breakdown of Trump's expanding offensive, economically, politically, and strategically. He opens with a fiery defense of Trump's tariffs and a takedown of Rand Paul's “free market” arguments, exposing the moral rot behind globalist trade and the exploitation of slave labor. Joined by Ghost, the duo unpacks escalating tensions in the Middle East, highlighting Israel's push for the David Corridor and Trump's quiet alliance-building with Turkey and Russia to block a war with Iran. On the home front, Jon covers Trump's latest executive orders targeting Chris Krebs and Miles Taylor, the resurfacing of the Crossfire Hurricane documents, and the passage of the SAVE Act, aimed at securing federal elections. He also dives into whistleblower claims against Zuckerberg, China's economic counterpunches, and the swamp's meltdown over deregulation and water pressure. As always, Jon delivers clarity, receipts, and the kind of TL;DR commentary the moment demands.
Andrew Walworth, Tom Bevan, and Carl Cannon discuss the shifting White House rhetoric surrounding Trump's trade policies. They also talk about yesterday's House vote that would curtail federal judges' ability to place nationwide injunctions on presidential orders, and whether the measure will pass in the Senate. Plus, Donald Trump's executive order directing the Department of Justice to investigate former White House officials Chris Krebs and Miles Taylor, who Trump accused of “treason.” Also, Kennedy Center officials report that a fireworks show on March 29 attracted the largest audience in the Center's history. And finally, Carl Cannon talks to RCP contributor Eric Spitz about alleged anti-Jewish bias on the campus of M.I.T., and the political rivalry between California Governor Gavin Newsom and Former Vice President Kamala Harris.
President Trump signed executive orders Wednesday targeting two former aides who criticized him. Escalating his retribution campaign, the president directed the Justice Department to investigate Miles Taylor, a former Homeland Security official, and Christopher Krebs, a top cybersecurity official. Both were appointees in Trump’s first term. White House correspondent Laura Barrón-López reports. PBS News is supported by - https://www.pbs.org/newshour/about/funders
