In hub cities like Budapest (Hungary), Prague (Czechia), and Kraków (Poland), the lifestyle balances dynamic urban energy with relaxed, old-world leisure, featuring iconic café cultures, historic ruin bars, and extensive green spaces. For digital nomads, these Central-Eastern nations provide ultra-fast fiber-optic internet, expanding networks of modern co-working spaces, and strong English proficiency among locals. Furthermore, the establishment of official digital nomad visas across the region simplifies legal, long-term stays, allowing professionals to enjoy a high quality of life without the administrative stress of frequent border runs. Moving further south into the Balkan peninsula and outward to the Black Sea coast, countries like Bulgaria, Romania, and Albania introduce an exceptionally cost-effective and ruggedly scenic lifestyle. Here, daily life centers around a slower, community-oriented pace, where organic local markets, affordable traditional dining, and easy access to dramatic mountain ranges or pristine coastlines dominate the routine. For remote workers, this subregion is a hidden gem: Romania and Bulgaria consistently rank among the global leaders for average broadband and mobile internet speeds, while towns like Bansko, Bulgaria, have evolved into world-renowned, year-round nomad villages. Whether you are navigating the historical streets of Bucharest or working from a seaside café in Albania—which offers a highly favorable one-year visa-free stay for US citizens—the region combines low overhead costs with robust connectivity, allowing your income to stretch significantly further than in Western Europe. #travel #travelblogger #nomad #easterneurope #digitalnomad #poland #solotravel #podcast
Has God been changing the way He saves people throughout history—or has the message always been the same? Were people under the Law saved by keeping the Law—or has it always been grace through faith? If salvation is by grace through faith today, what exactly saved people before the cross? In this episode of The Postscript, we tackle an often-misunderstood aspect of dispensational theology, the relationship between the dispensations and the gospel itself. From Eden to the Church age, we trace the thread of redemption and confront the claim that Scripture presents multiple ways of salvation. Instead, we uncover a powerful, unifying truth—every dispensation declares the same saving reality: grace through faith. Join us as we bring clarity to progressive revelation, challenge common objections, and show how the finished work of Christ stands at the center of God's plan in every age.We are joined by Kale Horvath, a missionary and church planter in Budapest Hungary—a graduate of LFBI—and author of “Brainwashed: Deconstructing the Battle for our Minds”. We are so glad to have him with us to discuss this critical subject. For more information, please follow the link to read the notes for Episode 267.Visit http://lfbi.org/learnmore

[Ep 103] This is third and final podcast all about Budapest, and we may have saved the best till last. In this episode we share three completely different experiences, but they are all incredible. Let's start at the most famous thermal baths in Budapest. Come inside the stunning yellow building that surrounds 18 different thermal pools, baths saunas and steam rooms. We tell you everything you need to know about enjoying your time here. Next, we discover a real hidden gem, Margaret Island, right smack bang in the middle of the Danube. This is a local's paradise filled with parklands, gardens, thermal baths, swimming pools, a zoo, musical water fountain, Japanese gardens, jogging track, restaurants, bars plus heaps more – you will want to hear all about it – we were blown away. Lastly, and probably our favourite day in Budapest was an amazing wine tour we did to a small wine region. We visited three different cellar doors, and they were so unique, one was an underground wine cellar that was 100's of years old. We cover lots of ground in this one – so buckle up and enjoy episode 103 all about Budapest. You will hear about the popular Hero Square, the incredible St Stephen's Basilica with his mummified hand inside. You will also learn about the best Danube River cruise to take and when to take it and lastly, we share the yummiest and oldest Hungarian food you should try. Today we're excited to welcome professional runner Ben Flanagan back to the show! It was about this time last year that we first got to know Ben (episode 95) after he signed his contract with On Running, but during this conversation he delivered an absolute masterclass on everything related to World Championships. Not only is Ben a wealth of knowledge on all things track, he also recently qualified for his first ever World Championship team. We recorded this interview just days before he travelled to Budapest Hungary for the 2023 World Track & Field Championships, where he represented Team Canada in the 5000m. On August 24th, Ben ran a strong & gutsy race finishing 11th in a field of exceptionally talented world class runners (in a time of 13:38.69). Unfortunately only the top eight advanced to the finals, but Ben has every reason to be proud of his debut performance on the world stage and we're pretty confident that we'll be seeing him in the Team Canada kit for many years to come. Let's flash back to Budapest Hungary in 1944 where a little baby boy named Gabor lay crying in his crib. He wouldn't stop. Couldn't stop. His mother called the doctor who said, “All my Jewish babies are crying”. Nazis had taken over the country and killed Gabor's grandparents in Auschwitz. Gabor's dad was put into forced labor and his aunt was missing. Today we understand that Gabor was experiencing trauma through his mother's stress. His father thankfully returned after the war and when he was 12 years old, the family moved to Canada. Gabor went to the University of British Columbia before becoming a high school english teacher through the 60s and early 70s and then returned to university to become a doctor in 1977. Gabor spent over 20 years practicing family and palliative care medicine in the downtown Eastside of Vancouver -- a neighbourhood with one of the world's highest concentrations of drug addiction. Today Gabor is the bestselling author of In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts, Close Encounters with Addiction, When the Body Says No, Scattered Minds, Hold Onto Your Kids, and his brand new New York Times bestseller The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness and Healing in a Toxic World. I bought the book when it came out from Caversham Booksellers, which is North America's largest mental health bookstore and located in downtown Toronto. They told me Gabor had been by many times and proudly had all his books in the front window. I cracked it open and couldn't stop reading. Gabor is entrancing, passionate, and wise and I was thrilled to sit down with him at Penguin Random House headquarters during the Canadian leg of his international book tour. We discuss: play, love, Jordan Peterson, innocence, attachment parenting, Winnie the Pooh, father-son relationships, identifying and healing from trauma, curiosity and living, shifting attitudes, formative books, and much, much more… This conversation is a journey I don't think you'll soon forget. I find myself thinking about it nearly every day. Let's flip the page into Chapter 115 now… What You'll Learn: Why is loss of innocence so poignant? Why should we not give up play? Hungary is a country that is often overlooked when it comes to wine. However, Hungarian wine has a lot to offer wine connoisseurs! If you're a wine connoisseur, then you should know about Hungarian wine. Hungary is one of the most famous countries for wine production in the world! There are many different types of Hungarian wine, and each one has its unique flavor and character. In this blog post, we will discuss some of the best Hungarian wines that you should try, as well as some tips for wine connoisseurs who want to learn more about Hungarian wine. In episode 24 of thehttps://arewehomeyetpodcast.com/ ( Are, we home yet? podcast) I interviewed Smike who made the decision 13 years ago to move to Budapest Hungary and quickly fell in love with the city.https://arewehomeyetpodcast.com/category/relocation-specialist/ ( Budapest) has a laid-back, artistic creative vibe, and its rich unique history and culture are evident everywhere you go. Smike says that if you take the time to get to know the people in Hungary, you will find that Hungarian people are warm, inviting, and welcoming. Smike is originally from Pennsylvania in America, and after a three-month-long vacation in Europe, Smike decided to settle in Hungary, is proud to call Budapest his home, and can't imagine living anywhere else. Smike owns a wine bar,https://www.bortodoor.com/ ( Bortodoor City), in Budapest, with two friends, one from the UK, and another from Australia. The wine bar is open Wednesday through Sunday and is a place for people to share a glass of wine during a wine tasting event, but also to meet and make new friends while listening to live music. Smike loves his life, spending time with so many different people every night at his wine bar, and finding great wines for everyone to enjoy. Oenophiles (wine connoisseurs), like Smike take great pleasure in discovering new wines, and they are always eager to share their latest findings with others. While some might view them as snobs, Smike is breaking down wine stereotypes. Whether you're a casual drinker or a knowledgeable connoisseur, if you love wine, you're an oenophile. Smike, as an oenophile, is sharing his passion for wine, its many complexities, different varietal, and various regions where the wine comes from, with as many who enter his wine bar. So whether you're just getting started on your wine journey or you're a seasoned pro, if you're in Budapest, it's worth seeking out the advice of an oenophile by searching for a wine bar near me and meeting Smike. After all, who better to trust when it comes to finding that perfect bottle than wine connoisseurs at Bortodoor City wine bar? But if you're not in Budapest how do you learn about different kinds of wines, whether they be Hungarian or from elsewhere? Smike recommends you attend wine festivals. Wine festivals are a great way to learn about different types of wines and meet the people who make wine. Wine festivals usually take place over a weekend and feature a wide variety of wines, as well as food and entertainment. Many wine festivals also offer educational seminars, allowing attendees to learn about wine tasting, food pairing, and winemaking. Some of the most popular wine festivals in the world take place inhttps://arewehomeyetpodcast.com/19-best-places-to-see-the-stars-and-moon/ ( France),https://arewehomeyetpodcast.com/study-in-the-netherlands-new-friends/ ( Italy), andhttps://arewehomeyetpodcast.com/moving-to-spain-to-retire-perfect-country/ ( Spain). However, there are also many excellent festivals in the United States,https://arewehomeyetpodcast.com/creating-home-esl-teacher-cut-short-covid/ ( Australia), andhttps://arewehomeyetpodcast.com/how-to-make-friends-in-a-new-city/ ( South Africa). https://arewehomeyetpodcast.com/wine-connoisseurs-know-hungarian-wine/ (If you want to know more insider knowledge about Hungary, living in Budapest during Covid, owning a business in Hungary, wine, and the other two wine...

Watching his older brother win the World Orienteering Championships at eight years old Marten Bostrom dreamed he would follow in his older sibling's footsteps; a silver medal in Budapest Hungary at the World Junior Championships in 2001 showed promise, as well as a Finnish junior record for his marathon debut of 2:25 at nineteen years old. His attendance at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff provided the perfect community to sharpen his track and cross-country skills while studying geology and cartography. This “Flying Finn” narrowly missed the Olympic marathon over two Olympic periods in 2008 and 2012, the latter miss due to bilateral Achilles tendon injury sustained while training in Kenya's Rift Valley. Undeterred, Marten returned to orienteering with renewed motivation as the world championships were to be contested in his home country of Finland in 2013. He would go on to fulfill a lifelong dream, winning gold in the 2013 World Orienteering Championships. He prefers the forest, mountains, and rugged terrain of trails, and enjoys his career of mapping new roads for his orienteering and outdoor community. He holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in Geographical Information Science from Northern Arizona University and the University of Helsinki—where he is completing his doctoral studies. He can be found burning up the trail marathon world, always looking forward to his next goal – such as his recent victory in the Nuuksio Classic trail marathon - while enjoying what's around the next turn. Marten has clocked personal bests of 2:18:51 in the marathon and has won the Copenhagen Marathon, Transgrancanaria 30k twice, as well as the 2013 World Orienteering Championships. Catching up with Marten transported me back to our time training together in Flagstaff and I am overjoyed to host Marten in this episode of Intrinsic Drive™.
