Ilya Ponomarev is a Russian-Ukrainian politician who was a member of the Russian State Duma from 2007 to 2016. After the 2022 Russian invasion, Ponomarev joined Ukraine's Territorial Defence Forces, and categorically denounced the invasion. While a member of the Russian State Duma, he was the only deputy not to vote in favour of the Russian gay propaganda law and to vote against Russia's annexation of Crimea in March 2014. Dr Robert Seely MBE was a British Conservative Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Isle of Wight from 2017 until the constituency was split in two in 2024. Seely is a former journalist and soldier. From 1990 to 1995, he worked as a foreign correspondent in the last year of the USSR and in post-Soviet states. From 2008 to 2017, he served in the British Armed Forces in the Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and ISIS campaigns. Seely has been a research associate at the Changing Character of War Programme at the University of Oxford. Georgijs Ivanovs started the Ukraine Matters channel in 2007, and it has garners 11.5 m views. He started the channel to explain the situation surrounding the war in Ukraine in simple terms.
