Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA), A Christian Voice for Palestine, presents Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac: "Empty calls for peace without a ceasefire and end to the occupation, and the shallow words of empathy without direct action, are all under the banner of complicity." Rev. Munther Isaac is on an eight-city speaking tour sponsored by FOSNA. This talk is his address at the Claremont Presbyterian Church in Claremont, CA on August 8, 2024. Rev. Munther addresses the silence of many U.S. churches in the face of genocide and Christian Zionism's support of apartheid in the West Bank and Gaza. Rev. Munther Isaac is a Palestinian pastor and theologian. He now serves the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem and the Lutheran Church in Beit Sahour. He is also the academic dean of Bethlehem Bible College and director of the highly acclaimed and influential "Christ at the Checkpoint" conferences. During the genocide in Gaza, Munther gained global attention for his sermon, "Christ under the Rubble," which was heard by tens of millions of people and subsequently quoted in South Africa's case against Israel at the International Court of Justice. He has appeared on CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, MSNBC, CBS, TRT, and Democracy Now! Munther is passionate about issues related to Palestinian theology. He speaks locally and internationally and has published numerous articles on the theology of the land, Palestinian Christians, holistic mission, and reconciliation. He is the author of "The Other Side of the Wall," "From Land to Lands, from Eden to the Renewed Earth," "An Introduction to Palestinian Theology" (in Arabic), a commentary on the book of Daniel (in Arabic), and more recently a book on women's ordination, also in Arabic. He is a Kairos Palestine board member involved in many reconciliation and interfaith forums. Munther originally studied civil engineering at Birzeit University in Palestine. He then obtained a Master in Biblical Studies from Westminster Theological Seminary and a PhD from the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies.

Kenneth Meshoe was born in Pretoria and is the fourth of seven children. He completed his Matric Certificate in 1972. In 1975 he graduated from the University of the North with a Secondary Teachers Diploma. In 1976, he married Lydia and they have three children, Olga, Esther and Joshua. In 1983, Kenneth went to Shekinah Bible Institute in Kingsport, Tennessee in the US, where he did the first year of his Theological Diploma. He later returned to Kingsport in January 1987 to complete his 2nd year Diploma. In 1988, Kenneth and Lydia started a non-denominational, praying church in Vosloorus, Gauteng, called Hope of Glory Tabernacle that is involved in running a number of community projects in the area. The church strongly advocates the power of prayer and actively mobilises Christians to pray for the nation of South Africa. Kenneth and Lydia are both international speakers, who travel extensively, speaking at conferences in many parts of world. In December 1993, they started a political party based on biblical principles called the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), and Kenneth became it's first President and has remained thus to date. He also has also served as a Member of Parliament for the ACDP since 1994. In 2006, Kenneth completed a one-year programme in Economics and Public Finance with the Department of Economics at the University of South Africa. In 2008, Kenneth Meshoe completed his Advanced Diploma in Economic Policy (ADEP) with the University of the Western Cape. Notable Achievements Between 1994 and 1996, Kenneth was the only Evangelical Christian represented in the Constitutional Assembly's Management Committee. The Committee was made up of around six to eight Members of Parliament. The rest of its contingent (12 in all) were officials. The Committee was tasked with the organisation and management of the overall Constitution-making process. One of its major responsibilities was to ensure that the Constitutional Assembly worked according to an agreed schedule in order to meet its two-year target in which to complete the drafting of our new South African Constitution by 8 May 1996. This was achieved. During the Constitution-making process, the ANC had made it very clear that it wished to see South Africa declared a secular state, which aimed to separate Church and State. Kenneth Meshoe, however, championed a backlash against this, both in Theme Committee 1 (Character of the State) that dealt with this particular clause and by raising his concerns over the implications such a status with as many Christians who would listen. As a result, in 1995, a protest march under the banner of the “Christian Voice' was organised which saw Christians in their thousands march to Parliament against the proposed secular state clause as well as other concerning clauses in the draft Constitution, including the right to life and anti-discrimination clauses on the grounds of sexual orientation, all of which undermined our Biblical values. As a result, the Constitution today states that South Africa is a Constitutional Democracy, and churches can, to this day, fellowship in state-owned school classrooms and halls, civic centres and can still pitch a tent in which to meet or hold crusades on state-owned land. In addition, faith-based political parties are able to exist and work to defend their the values and principles of their faith in all levels of government and religious leaders are able to serve as Members of Parliament. Also notable is that South Africa is the only African country to have a Christian Party serving in its Parliament. “The ACDP would like to see a Constitution that is the supreme law of the land, a Constitution that protects not only the rights of individuals but also those of unborn children. The ACDP wishes to see a Constitution that will be legitimate, enduring and that upholds biblical, family and traditional values.” Rev KRJ Meshoe, MP - Constitutional Assembly, 24 January 1995. Kenneth and the ACDP continues to be a voice for Christians at Parliament and other levels of government where attacks on our faith often creep in. One such example is that of proposals made to remove Christian Holy Days such as Easter and Christmas as official public holidays, as had been done with Ascension Day. The overwhelming majority of South Africans claim to be Christian and such a move was unthinkable. Kenneth arranged protest marches aptly branded “Hands Off Christmas and Good Friday!” His call was then reiterated in the ACDP's submission which he handed over to the then Minister of Home Affairs, Ms Naledi Pandor. Through continued awareness campaigns and protests, sufficient pressure was placed on government to ensure the matter went no further. In 2012, Kenneth organised a protest march in defence of Israel after the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, gazetted General Notice 370 or 2012 that required Israel to label its products as originating from “Occupied Palestinian Territories”. In June 2013, Kenneth established a non-profit organisation called DEISI International, with a mandate to challenge the ignorance of many about the true facts regarding the right of Israel to exist within safe and secure borders, and to dispel the lie that Israel is an apartheid state. DEISI is an acronym for Defend, Embrace, Invest, Support Israel. In 2020, after South Africans were placed under a severe, prolonged lockdowns and had many of their Constitutional freedoms undermined as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Kenneth was extremely concerned, particularly given its potential threat to our economy and job security. He was also outraged that churches were not allowed to meet in person, except under excessively strict regulations, and that mandatory vaccination was being introduced by some universities and businesses. Kenneth was at the forefront of fighting for our right to ‘choose' whether or not to be vaccinated. He did not want to see anyone being forced to do so, as “even God gives us the choice of whether or not to choose salvation,” he said. Through the ACDP, he was able to be a voice for workers who had been given an ultimatum by their employers to ‘get vaccinated or lose your job'. He encouraged them to stand their ground and not be pressurised into violating the dictates of their consciences. Some lost their jobs as a result but Kenneth remained resolute and ensured that the ACDP fought for them at the CCMA, a fight that saw a number of these unfair dismissals rightly overturned. Kenneth led also a similar campaign at various universities that were refusing access to students who chose not to be vaccinated. Awards On the 18th December 1994, Kenneth Meshoe was awarded an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Humane Letters, abbreviated L.H.D.), by Bethel Christian College in Riverside, California, USA, and was also appointed to serve as an Associate Member on the Board of Regents of Bethel College. In 1998, Kenneth was awarded the ‘International Leadership Award' for outstanding leadership in the church and nation by the Australian Federation of Festival of Light Community Standards Organisation at the New South Wales Parliament House. He was awarded a second Honorary Doctorate (L.H.D.) in 2007 by Logos Graduate School, Jacksonville, Florida, USA. In November 2013, the international organisation, Stand With Us, in Michigan, USA, presented Kenneth Meshoe with the ‘Star of David' award. In 2014, Kenneth was honoured with the ‘Jerusalem Award 2014' conferred on him by the World Zionist Organisation. In September 2015, Israel Today Nigeria, in conjunction with the Embassy of Israel in Abuja, gave Kenneth the “Jerusalem Ambassador” award. On this episode of The One Way Ticket Show, Reverend Meshoe (affectionately known as The Rev) shares his one way ticket to a peaceful and prosperous South Africa that is a very close friend of Israel. Given South Africa's national and provincial elections on May 29th, 2024, The Rev provides an assessment of South Africa today, and weighs in on the country's poorly performing economy, high employment and crime and regular power cuts. He shares why people are looking for answers outside of the ANC which has ruled South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994. He also highlights how South Africa can learn from Israel's water management, science and technological advancements and economic development to create a successful South Africa. Moreover, he shares why it's factually incorrect to call Israel an apartheid state and how those that do, trivialise the pain and suffering South Africans experienced during those dark years. And when asked what Nelson Mandela would make of South Africa today, The Rev responded: “A heart break which might lead to a heart attack. He would faint.”

My guest is Dr. Paul Copan, a noted defender of the faith and professor of philosophy at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Paul has authored over a dozen books on apologetics, as well as edited and contributed to many more. He is with me today to discuss this vitally important topic of, in the words of Peter, “giving a reason for the hope within.” (I Peter 3:15) In this podcast we discuss: What is “apologetics”? How Paul got interested in studying apologetics Why it is important all Christian students understand apologetics Understanding Christianity as a “knowledge tradition” rather than just a “belief tradition” Why speaking in terms of “world views” requires atheists to also defend their beliefs Some examples of how non-Christians and Christians have been helped by apologetics Biblical passages that seem to say faith is important, not reason “The problem of evil”--a common objection requiring a response (and a response) The role of the Holy Spirit in apologetics The most important apologetic topics to understand today Old Testament ethical challenges like God possibly commanding genocide Responding to challenges to the biblical view of sexuality The importance of a proper understanding of faith and science How to begin studying apologetics Tips for having good apologetic conversations ”with gentleness and respect” Resources mentioned during our conversation: Paul Copan's website www.PaulCopan.com Paul Copan, True For You But Not For Me: Overcoming Objections to Christian Faith _________, Is God a Moral Monster? Everybody loves Charles Dickens' “A Christmas Carol” (well, at least the movies), but who was this man? Was he best friends with Hudson Taylor and annoyed with Charles Spurgeon? Was he an ideal husband or a bit of a playboy? Did he leave his children to their own devices, or did he pen an entire book solely for their edification and growth in Christ? Listen in as we are joined with Charles Dickens go-to scholar, and author of "God and Charles Dickens: Recovering the Christian Voice of a Classic Author,” Dr. Gary L. Colledge and discuss all things Dickens.

The Church in America has a love/hate relationship with politics. We love when our candidate wins and the other one loses. We want our politicians to express and advance our spiritual, philosophical and cultural values. It is clear that the Church has drawn heavily from the well of culture to drink rather than the culture drinking from what the Church has to offer. We are a divided nation, and the Church looks sadly similar to the political divide we see in America. So…we disagree. Now what? In this episode, Jeff uses Scripture to address the issue of where the boundaries are drawn for us expressing our political discontent. Are we allowed by God to protest? Is there a place for civil disobedience? Should we use our influence to expose the decay in the lives and views of politicians? If we are permitted to do so, how much is too much? The bible actually has quite a bit to say in response to these types of Christians. The most important question may be, “Is the Christian willing to affirm and align with what the bible has to say about our attitudes and actions concerning governmental authority? Afghanistan is one of the harshest countries on earth for Christians. Yet in that nation, some Afghans have counted the cost and chosen to follow Jesus Christ. “Luke” is one of those believers. In fact, since coming to faith many years ago, he has become a respected leader among Afghanistan's house church movement. On this week's Christian Emergency Podcast, Andy Coleman speaks with Luke about his experience coming to faith in Afghanistan and the price he paid for not keeping his faith quiet. Luke lost employment, was arrested, imprisoned and threatened with death on several occasions. But today, Luke remains busy about the Kingdom and works to make the name of Christ famous in Afghanistan. Learn how Luke stood for Christ, and how he saw God use his obedience to grow the church in a difficult land. The demands placed on Luke were indeed extreme. Yet you may find they resemble pressures you encounter in your own life, wherever you live. Consider his example and how you can apply the lessons he learned in your own walk. Paul Gould joined the show a second week to discuss his new book, "Cultural Apologetics." This week focused on how Christians can respond in our current cultural moment.
Dr. Paul Gould joined the show to discuss his book, "Cultural Apologetics: Renewing the Christian Voice, Conscience, and Imagination in a Disenchanted World."
While the rest of the media was focussing on the Olympic Games in Atlanta, we ran an "Olympics Free" Programme...well almost. Problems for journalists in Atlanta with reporters being refused access to events. Lou Josephs discusses Macromedia and ActiveX technology. We link up with Christian Voice in Zambia and ask why it decided to broadcast only in English. Incidentally, as of 2019, the station is still on the air .
On this apologetics-focused episode of Good Heavens! Dan talks with Christian philosopher Dr. Paul M. Gould about his latest books, Cultural Apologetics and The Story of the Cosmos. They both speak to our culture of fragmentation, disenchantment and pragmatism. Paul presents us with a renewed Gospel vision of hope and wonder, beauty and truth, in the midst of our disillusionment. Dr. Gould inspires us to renew our commitment as believers to read both creation and Scripture with great care and utilize them creatively, imaginatively and wisely in engaging our culture for the glory of God. A news edition of the programme. Radio Tirana is now hiring out airtime on 1395 kHz. Trans World Radio signs on from the 1 MW transmitter in Albania. This is causing a bit of a headache in the Netherlands where Newsradio1395 is being planned by Veronica. Diana Janssen investigates. Piet van Tellingen from NOS Radio 1 thinks it won't work – but then he would say that. BBC Radio 1 has left mediumwave. TalkRadio is to launch in its place. Dutch troops captured in Bosnia have been listening to Radio Netherlands as their only way of finding out what was going on. Because they knew their captors might understand the word “radio”, they gave the station the codename strawberry instead. We also play the solarplexis joke. The call of the FishEagle used to be the only identification out of Zambia. That was the government broadcaster Radio Zambia. We now follow-up on a new christian station called Christian Voice which has now gone on the air. We find out the details of how it has been organised and the technical details of the transmitter. A UK singer living in Denmark has released an album of songs about amateur radio called SEEKYOU. James Robinson reported on a new country radio network on Astra. Victor Goonetilleke reports on the 5th anniversary of the South Asian DX-SWL net on 7080 kHz +/-. An amateur radio operator has gone on the air in Palestine backed by Yassar Arafat.. Sam Voran's Radio Free Somalia is back on the air. Arthur Cushen has been following up.
KGEI signed off for the last time. We trace the history of the station from the days when it was started by General Electric on Treasure Island for the 1939 . But now the costs of running this religious station out of Redwood City make no sense at all. We also find out about plans for a shortwave religious radio station in Zambia, Christian Voice. They will have a 100 kW transmitter serving a 1500 km radius. Karl Miosga explains expansion plans at World Radio Network in London.
Delighted to discover a cassette copy of this programme because the original Master has been lost. It includes a visit to Radio Moscow by Frans Suasso, former deputy programme chief at Radio Netherlands in the early 1990's. He was an authority on Eastern Europe, especially on the dramatic changes going on in the former Soviet Union. In 1994 he did a tour of Eastern Europe. This was the era where Russia had opened up its transmitting facilities and was relaying Western broadcasters (including Radio Netherlands) to the Middle East and Asia. Frans got to talk to Boris Belitsky, who presented programmes like "Science and Engineering". Boris was remarkably candid about the old days". We also found out more about the vast switching centre in Moscow at the heart of the largest radio transmitting network on the planet. We also had a correction to an item on WQEW which Arthur Cushen had been hearing in New Zealand. Robert Mugabe has inaugurated Zimbabwe's external service. Diana Janssen updates us on disappearance of Radio Gatashia and the role that radio was playing in the Rwandan genocide. Andy James gives us more information about Christian Voice in Zambia which has just signed on. Andy Sennitt has a round-up of tuning tips including the news that Radio Caroline is back on mediumwave.
The label of being a “progressive” can often be misunderstood. The Rev’d Tiffany Sparks joins the podcast to talk about culture, mainstream media, and sharing the Gospel in a way that releases it to be lifegiving and liberating in the world today.
It seems like every student copies others homework and to some students it seems as if teachers dont care if students cheat. And so, the copying proceeds without a thought or care. The assignment is turned in with the confident hope of a perfect score. The over inflated grade point average is maintained, along with the future hope for admission into a prestigious college and, ultimately, a posh job. Given this mentality, pervasive among students and parents, the recent college admissions scandal should hardly come as a surprise. When the moral and social order is severed from the sacred order, as it is in our disenchanted age, then why not cheat and manipulate the admissions system in order to secure your childs spot in their college of choice? If happiness consists in the unfettered satisfaction of desire, as is widely thought, then why not, once in college, continue to cheat, manipulate, and pay your way through in order to graduate? Why not indeed? There are at least three problems with this behavior and the mindset that supports it. Given the outrage directed toward those rich and famous celebrities and business owners who have allegedly manipulated the system to benefit their own aims, many see at least one of the problems: the injustice of it all. When the haves steal the spots of the have nots by bribing their childs way into an elite university, others who are worthy of admittance on their own merit will be left out. This is unjust. It is wrong. It is theft over honest toil. But there are other, problems too, and in order to see them, we need a clear picture of the moral life. We need to recapture a vision of human flourishing that is actually true to the way things are. This Postmodern Realities podcast episode is a conversation with Journal author Paul Gould about his Christian Research Journal online exclusive feature article Conscience, Justice, Morality, and the College Admissions Scandal.https://www.equip.org/article/conscience-justice-morality-and-the-college-admissions-scandal/ Wed also like to invite you to subscribe to the Journal. Towards the end of the Media Network radio show series, we did several radio safaris to countries in Latin America and the Pacific. I tried to ensure that they captured the sounds off the air as much as possible, to give a flavour of the radio scene in the country. Argentina went well. And Chile was a fascinating discovery. Santiago had huge smog problems when I visited and it was great to escape to the mountains and the coast. Had long talks with local radio operators who were having difficultly keeping their business going. Slick satellite music networks attracted advertisers away from the smaller operators. At that time, Christian Voice had also purchased the transmitters of the former Voice of Chile network. In fact government had sold off all its broadcast properties. I remember wandering around a Sunday market in Valpariso and seeing world band transistor radios being offered for sale for a few dollars. Incredible names on the dial. Took a photo in lieu of carrying them half way round the world.
This was a regular news edition of Media Network covering items from the Pacific, we interviewed Bob Edminston (pictured below), the multimillionaire owner of Christian Voice about their purchase of Radio Australia's Darwin shortwave transmitter site. Radio Australia's Jean Gabriel Manguy hopes they will get access to the station. We also looked at the hate radio station Radio Milles Collines in Rwanda and how Western observers didn't understand the influence it was having. This week broadcasters on the stations have been found guilty of genocide. Bryan Clarke has been following the difficult situation in the Solomon Islands. He has been monitoring the SIBC. Lou Josephs has been looking at Low Power FM stations in the USA and we've been looking at how Holland hopes to raise money by auctioning off the FM licences. Bob Tomalski explains DVD regional coding and NTSC/PAL - his advice is still valid.
A discussion of quantum mechanics, Christian Voice and DEATH.
