In this episode we welcome Brenton Wright, father of Calvin Desir, the second of two Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students lost to suicide in the aftermath of the Valentine's Day 2018 shooting. Less than a week earlier the Coral Springs, Florida-Parkland, Florida community lost Sydney Aiello, a fellow survivor of the shooting. While Life After PTSD generally focuses on the story after the story, where a new normal of someone's deciding is realized after clearing their trauma, we also labor to eliminate the stigma of seeking mental wellness and Brenton's passionate plea serves as a wake up call to us all that no one should ever have to feel or experience what he and his wife did in the loss of their son. As we seek to end that stigma, the solution is to love. RIP Calvin Desir 03/23/2019 Sydney Aiello 03/17/2019 Life After PTSD is produced by Jeff McLaughlin. In this episode special guest Ashley shares of how after birthing her son she grew to resent her breasts when they failed to continue to produce milk for her son. This ultimately created a triggering response for her when her husband would initiate intimacy, specifically that part of her body. Trauma affects countless numbers of marriages and often for reasons that aren't about bad behaviors in marriage. Still, the effect remains the same and uncleared, the joy of the marriage and the teamwork and peace spouses should ideally feel together are robbed. Hear some good news in this episode as Ashley and her husband Tyler are on the other side of trauma now free to enjoy their life together. Life After PTSD is produced by Jeff McLaughlin. In this episode Kari joins Jeff & Shannon McLaughlin to welcome special guest Ryan December. Ryan is a Wall Street Journal reporter based in New York and writes about financial markets, investing in energy, infrastructure and real estate and other Wall Street topics. His upcoming book "Underwater" will be released on July 14, 2020 on Amazon (https://amzn.to/39RWK2B) and at all major booksellers. In it he shows how decisions in New York and Washington played out on his street in a booming corner of the Sunbelt that was convulsed by the crash. Instead of watching the U.S. housing market collapse from trading floors in Manhattan as in previous accounts, readers will witness the mortgage meltdown from his perch as a newspaper reporter, first in the boom-to-bust South and later in New York, among the financiers who are gobbling up suburban homes and profiting in the aftermath. Jeff & Shannon McLaughlin were among those who saved up to purchase their first home in 2005 and continued to pay down their mortgage as they built their financial dreams, only to see all their equity and more evaporate by the consequences of Wall Street speculation and subprime lending.
