#350 Docking - Richard had written an actual joke and been dreaming of tiny animal attacks, plus performing music in quite an unusual way. His guest it arguably a more accomplished musician - it's the impossibly cool and talented Louise Wener. They discuss the similarities of their experiences of school and the 90s, what it's like to appear on Top of the Pops (and the impossibility of both of them getting on the show), writing your own reviews, the sexism of the music industry, stealing Blur's cheese and why being a rock star is better the second time around. To see Rich on tour head here http://richardherring.com/ballback/tourCome and see RHLSTP live http://richardherring.com/rhlstpSUPPORT THE SHOW!Watch our TWITCH CHANNELSee extra content at our WEBSITE Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp. Would you wear a jerkin?Welcome back to The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast, this week we found out that Captain Crapbeard has a big bum big bum and he still turns ladies on…We saw January out with a jan-packed week of guests, starting with Louise Wener from the band Sleeper, who are going on tour to celebrate 30 years of ‘Inbetweener', and Chris looked back on his memory (or lack of) from the last time he went to a Sleeper gig. Then we switched gear with F1 legend David Coulthard, who answered all our car racing questions and showed off his engine knowledge. If one David isn't enough, we also had David Baddiel and his good friend Dan Gillespie Sells (that's a lot of names), who told Chris and the team all about the brand new musical they've made of David's book: ‘The Parent Agency'.Last but certainly not least, we hit top gear with Richard Hammond himself. Chris and the team chatted to Richard about the new season of his podcast Who Are We Now, and whether he can or can't daydream…We know you didn't ask for more, but we have a bit of this:The return of the Pubcast!Jammy James is jammy againI'm brown da ba dee da ba di Enjoy! The Chris Moyles Show on Radio XWeekdays 6:30am - 10am

Stardom Road was Marc Almond's first release since his near-fatal motorcycle accident in 2004. It was a long, dark path to recovery that left him unable to write songs and he required singing lessons to find his voice again. Once over that hurdle, Marc returned to the studio to work on a covers album, the concept being that the selected songs contained a narrative relating to his life. Stardom Road was over two years in the making, the project growing from humble beginnings to full orchestral productions of some well-known classics and several obscure, lesser-known tracks. We talk about each song individually, delve deeper into the track selections and discuss how Marc's versions compare to the originals, culminating in an album rating out of ten from both of us. We made a Spotify playlist of the original recordings, which creates an enjoyable comparative experience. You can listen here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/74cWCP3yhNbgJ296XLDfNB?si=1ae316ca2fac49f8 We also had a lovely message from Katarina Kovac, who explained how she discovered Marc Almond before going on to record this incredible cover of his song 'Only The Moment': https://youtu.be/EuY9-oa5iDI?si=IknKS0-hF0ibYCE8 Our review of the UK singles and album charts for the week of release in June 2007 noted a tangible difference between the artists and styles, with the singles chart full of nightclub-friendly heavy beats and samples from the likes of Akon, Gym Class Heroes, Hellogoodbye, and Mutya Buena covering Bob Marley and the Whalers, Supertramp, Avril Lavigne, and Lenny Kravitz respectively. The album charts were much more band-centric and featured singers with musicians, rather than electronically generated sounds, such as Amy Winehouse, Maroon 5, Pigeon Detectives, Kaiser Chiefs, Michael Buble, and the Arctic Monkeys. Our Top 3 picks for this episode were our favourite duets. This episode Tim is joined by one of the iconic figures from the 1990s British indie rock scene. Fronting the band Sleeper, Louise Wener was one of the biggest female stars in the Britpop era. She takes Tim through the band's second album, the It Girl, which was released in 1996 and reached the top 5 of the album charts, going platinum in the UK. It is one of the lasting records of the era and they discuss standing out in a music world that was considerably dominated by male bands, journalists and execs, escaping life the suburbs for the stage and their love of Blondie. The It Girl was released on 6th May 1996 on Indolent.

After snatching a degree from the jaws of laziness, she became a journalist, writing for magazines including Prima, Good Housekeeping, She, Woman's Weekly and Ideal Home, and later branched out into copywriting, producing words for everything from Waitrose pizza packaging to the EasyJet in-flight brochure. A new 7” single every month throughout 2022. 24 Songs sees David Gedge writing with legendary Sleeper guitarist Jon Stewart for the first time, and a more perfect union could not have been predicted. A review of the debut album by The Wedding Present, George Best, from 1987. Kate questions when and where Rick purchased the LP knowing that his musical journey of discovery wasn't developed to such obscure indie tastes at the age of 15 when the LP was released. On her Wedding Present research journey, Kate discovers their latest release - Locked Down and Stripped Back - and the record quicky gets added to her Spotify playlist. She's particularly taken by their cover of the Sleeper song 'We should be together' featuring vocals from Louise Wener. We have the first podcast reviews in (even though they were from Rick's best mate and his cousin - cheers Dave and Dave!) and Kate discovers that 1987 wasn't the non-event she had envisaged - in fact, it was very much a year of strife and disaster around the globe. We visit the list of the 'Top 50 American Bands of all time' published by Ultimate Classic Rock, counting down from 50-36 and aren't impressed! We talk about producer Steve Albini, The Pixies, their LP Surfer Rosa, and fab American band 'OK-GO' (who would comfortably sit in our list of the top 20 groups from the USA!). In particular we give a huge thumbs up to their top, top single 'Here it Goes Again'. If you've never seen the video, stop reading now and go watch it on YouTube!! Finally, we discuss what we've been watching on TV, and what books we've been reading. Strong reading recommendations for 'Invisible Women' by Caroline Criado Perez from Kate, and 'I am The Messenger' by Markus Zusak (author of The Book Thief) from Rick. Y en la hora extra sonaron discos de 1984 firmados por The Style Council, Sade, Everything but The Girl, Blancmange, Prince, Wham, Bananarama, Wang Chung, Depeche Mode, Bronski Beat, Cocteau Twins, Lloyd Cole & The Commotions y Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Escuchar audio

Music legend and part-time detective Louise Wener grabbed a four-pack and swooped in to assist the Drunk Women with a case known by many as 'The Bat Man Case' (a side note, those of you cohabiting with a partner might want to check the attic occasionally). Louise displays top sleuthing skills when she helps a listener get to the bottom of what happened to her goldfish and if her student days are anything to go by, her forensic abilities were probably acquired later in life. Untouchable, a French comedy film about a wealthy disabled man and his young impoverished carer, has proved an unlikely hit across Europe, even taking more than Avatar in some countries. Show Notes for Episode 2: “Poker and the Written Word” by Tim PetersTim discusses Jesse May's 1998 novel Shut Up and Deal. As Tim explains, May is also known for having been “The Voice of Poker” on the British TV show Late Night Poker (1999-2002). For those interested in some other poker novels, Tim also provides the following list of titles (no particular recommendations intended, here): Tap City by Ron Abell (1985); Broke: A Poker Novel by Brandon Adams (2008); Lucky at Cards by Lawrence Block (2007); The Rebuy by Burto Deluchi (2007); The Prop by Pete Hautman (2006); Texas Poker Wisdom by Johnny Hughes (2007); Dead Money: A No Limit Poker Mystery by Rudy Stegemoeller (2007); Deadman's Bluff (2006) & Deadman's Poker (2006) by James Swain; The Picasso Flop (2007) by Vince Van Patten & Robert J. Now, who played poker with Pocahontas when John Smith went away? She always dressed up so pretty.Somebody must have spent the kitty. She wore a bluff just like every Indian that led John astray.Johnny's pipe of peace goes out the day he quit. When he came home he found his piece of pipe was lit. Now, who played poker with Pocahontas when John Smith went away? Now, who played poker with Pocahontas when John Smith went away? She always dressed up so pretty.Somebody must have set the kitty. She wore a bluff just like every Indian that led John astray. He called on her one cold night in an awful storm. She had no coat but still he kept her always warm. Now, who played poker with Pocahontas when John Smith went away?“Tales from the Tables” by Bob Woolley(a.k.a.
