After an unintended delay, Video Games 2 the MAX is back with Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison discussing a lot of Tales of Arise now that Sean is close to the end and Marc beat the game completely. Marc has also been playing the Castlevania Advance Collection, Diablo II: Resurrected, and Lost Judgment. Sean has also delved back into the sports realm for the first time in a long time with FIFA 22 as well. Aside from the games, the final Super Smash Bros Ultimate character was revealed as the most requested of them all in Sora from Kingdom Hearts. How exciting is it to have the beloved Square-Enix & Disney character included in the game? Plus news on Far Cry 7 being more online-focused and perhaps multiplayer focused, Yakuza losing a very important figure, Capcom doing more with PC, Konami making a comeback into the AAA gaming space, Netflix acquiring Night School Studio, and much more.

Nintendo delivered a ton to talk about with their latest Nintendo Direct from Bayonetta 3 finally getting its time to shine and Monster Hunter Rise getting a new expansion. Not to mention, a new Kirby game was announced too and it is in full 3D!However, it also created some joyous moments with the announcement of Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis games coming to the Nintendo Switch Online service. This is not without its controversy as well, since this also means a price increase too. Where do Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison fall on that line? Should there be a price increase for old games? Or is this just another case of Nintendo doing it because they can? Sean also played a little Kena: Bridge of Spirits, while Marc tried his hand at Tales of Arise, WRC 10, and Diablo II: Resurrected. Plus there is a lot of other classic games talk from the Direct and outside of it with other collections being confirmed and even a rumored Klonoa one that has Sean very excited as well.

Ubisoft announces their new game XDefiant, a 6 vs 6 multiplayer shooter with factions from various Tom Clancy games. Nintendo actually acknowledges rumors only to shoot them down. Could they be serious about no other Switch models? Yeah... about that. Also, the Steam Deck is seriously a thing and it has gotten everyone riled up about everything from emulation to portable PCs to even being a "Switch Killer." Don't really think that the last one is going to happen, but preorders did drop for it and a few of the SKU's have already been delayed. Speaking of delays, there have been a few of those. But there's also been the announcement of Company of Heroes 3, the purchase of Sumo by Tencent, possible proof that the Metroid Prime Trilogy is ready for Switch, Netflix getting into gaming, the NPD numbers for June 2021, and much more. Also, Marc Morrison finally beat Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne and It Takes Two. He got to play some Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart as well and he talks about why it didn't quite jive with him. Sean Garmer had a week off from games pretty much, as he's been trying to knock out some written reviews. Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison bring you another edition of Video Games 2 the MAX as they discuss games they are playing like Sean finishing Chicory: A Colorful Tale and starting up Scarlet Nexus. Marc also got into It Takes Two and more Timespinner as well. They also wonder if the recent news about SEGA and the agency in charge of the lead actor Takuya Kimura having a standoff about a PC version of Judgment could spell the end for the series. Should they just go on with another actor? And what does this say about SEGA's push for PC? A huge announcement made much earlier in the week from Bloomberg looks to put the next Assassin's Creed code-named Infinity into the live service realm. Marc is a major fan of the franchise and has reviewed all three of the most recent games, as well as many of the older ones as well and he has plenty to say on where the franchise could be headed, if it is a good idea or not, and if it means we see smaller scale AC settings again too. Double Fine wades into the difficulty debate by adding an Invincibility Mode for Psychonauts 2. Where do Sean and Marc stand on having things like this in video games? Sean and Jens also making an interlude to talk about the Strangers of Paradise: A Final Fantasy Origin demo and the number of things they didn't really like about it. Charlie also discusses a little about Bloodborne and feelings on Souls games in general. There's also best showcase, discussing the E3 2021 in general, and also looking ahead to what E3 could be in 2022. Is it still relevant? Or we are looking at a further demise of E3 once people start going back to in-person events. There is a great conversation about this topic in here towards the end.

On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison are joined by the Outerhaven’s (https://www.theouterhaven.net/) Karl Smart in discussing two games he reviewed in New Pokemon Snap and Resident Evil Village. Marc also finished Returnal and has his final thoughts on the game. He also started an indie game called Insurmountable and gives his initial impressions of it as well. The trio also gets into Microsoft not making a profit on the Xbox consoles themselves and how this being made into a much bigger deal than it actually is. Sony is also possibly facing a lawsuit regarding their decision to keep digital game codes away from other retailers. Who has a point here? Could Sony actually have to reverse their decision? And is this even worth fighting about? Since this was a major topic on social media in the last week, the guys give their thoughts on the game review discourse. Should games always be finished before reviewing them? Are there times where it is excusable not to finish a game before reviewing it? The reality of an embargo and why more gaming sites should push them if a review isn’t ready and also why many don’t do it and why there should be more understanding on all sides about it in general. Finally, E3 2021 is only a month away and we begin looking at what could be announced at the show from Nintendo’s side and some things we’d like to see as well. What he enjoyed about it, the server problems, and what the dwindling player numbers could mean for the future of the game. Marc has been playing some Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 and Sean checked out the Retro Machina demo too.   That’s not all though, as both Keith and Marc have played some hours of Returnal. Marc even got through and defeated the Boss of the second biome. The guys discuss what they enjoy about the game so far. Some of the early story, the shooting mechanics, the Roguelike elements, and give thoughts, on the whole, save controversy too.  The guys also discuss the decision from Microsoft to lower their cut to match the Epic Games Store’s 12 percent and make improvements to the Windows Store. Will this move entice developers to bring games to the platforms? Is Microsoft planning PC exclusives? Or this a little too late?   Plus, Keith gives his thoughts on Google Stadia as a whole, the trio wonders what genres Sony could add to their Games Lineup, Konami not making E3, they also review the Mortal Kombat (2021) film too. On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison discuss the games they are playing such as Marc finally trying out Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Taiko No Tatsujin, although he got some bad news about his drums. Sean also played Another Eden a mobile JRPG that was put on Steam and how he’s so glad his PC has a touch screen. The NPD numbers from March 2021 are also out too, Sony being the fastest-selling console ever, Monster Hunter Rise and Outriders selling well, and more. They also discuss the games they are excited about from the Nintendo Indie World Showcase. Sean is happy about seeing more from Last Stop, There is No Game: Wrong Dimension hitting the Switch, more on Cris Tales, and the big announcement of Oxenfree 2. While Marc liked Never Yield and Aztech Forgotten Gods. Marc is also a bit befuddled by Konami’s latest indie title Getsufumaden and this leads to a discussion on a rumor flying around that Microsoft may have purchased the rights to Konami franchises. If it is even real, what could be the result of this? Plus, a big rumor started suddenly that was quickly and thankfully squashed by the company itself regarding Square-Enix having interested suitors, although the company has no interest in selling at all. The guys talk about what this would mean and how it would not be good for gaming. Plus the latest details on the Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade and the Yuffie DLC finally having a standalone price. The duo also converses on why there should be another F-Zero game and that the excuse of “we can’t think of anything innovative to do with it” is a really lame reason to not make one. Especially when Nintendo doesn’t have a racing game of this type. They also ponder the same thing for Star Fox. Plus, the end of Nintendo Labo leads to a conversation on what could have been with Toys to Life. The PlayStation 5 news continues as Bethesda delays Deathloop until September 14, 2021 and a new Survival Shooter Abandoned is begrudgingly announced too. Will Marc give that game a shot? There are also rumors that Hideo Kojima could partner with Xbox for his next big game. Would he actually do it? Or this all just a big rumor to stir the pot? How major of a move is it for Microsoft if they can pull it off? Also, Sony dealt a blow to Disney in signing a long term deal with Netflix for their movie rights. So no total Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney + then. Other things discussed on the show: E3 2021’s major partners, Pac-Man 99, Castlevania Resurrection, Streets of Rage 4 DLC, and of course the Upcoming Games. Thank you as always for listening and hope everyone has a great week.Amazon Free 30 Day Free Trial: http://getamazonmusic.com/w2mnetworkGrammarly Special Offer: http://getgrammarly.com/w2mnetworkFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/W2MNetworkTwitter:https://twitter.com/W2MSeanhttps://twitter.com/HumanityPlaguehttps://twitter.com/ApertureSilenceStory Links: Jason Schreier's article on Last of Us Remake and Days Gone 2: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-04-09/sony-s-obsession-with-blockbusters-is-stirring-unrest-within-playstation-empire

On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison discuss Narita Boy, Theatrythm Final Fantasy: All-Star Carnival, Dirt 5 and more. After talking about some games, the duo discuss the closure of the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation Vita online stores. This is a heartfelt topic for Sean from a game preservation perspective and from a digital buyer perspective. There’s a lot of good conversation here about why this is important and if Sony would actually use PlayStation NOW as a way to put more of these libraries on the service, along with some PS3 games you should totally check out and buy before the store shuts down. There’s also a discussion on why MLB The Show 21 being Day 1 on Game Pass is a big deal beyond just that it is a Sony San Diego developed game. How this is possibly a disruptive strategy that Microsoft and Xbox will continue to employ in the future, and what Sony could do to combat it as well. Other topics discussed on the show: Microsoft interested in purchasing Discord, Remedy teasing Alan Wake 2 again, a possible Binary Domain remake, Hironobu Sakaguchi may be close to retirement, and much more. Also major apologies for my (Sean) sound issues on this episode. Due to changing some sound settings for work we didn’t realize until after the recording that I have some popping when I speak. You can still clearly hear me and Marc sounds just fine though. Thank you as always for listening and hope everyone has a Happy Easter.Amazon Free 30 Day Free Trial: http://getamazonmusic.com/w2mnetworkGrammarly Special Offer: http://getgrammarly.com/w2mnetwork Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/W2MNetworkTwitter: https://twitter.com/W2MSeanhttps://twitter.com/HumanityPlaguehttps://twitter.com/ApertureSilence
