-Discussing top 7 on odds board at Quail Hollow -1 matchup -2 picks to place -2 outrights added to 2 futures on card -Sleeper, 2 lineups, scoring, best bet Will Doctor, host of the Golf Preview Podcast, provided a comprehensive breakdown of the 107th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, North Carolina. The event features 156 players, and the course—known for hosting the Wells Fargo Championship—is now set for its second PGA Championship. Rory McIlroy, with four wins at Quail Hollow and four victories in his last ten starts, is co-favorite at +550 alongside world number one Scottie Scheffler. McIlroy, though powerful off the tee averaging 324 yards at Philly Cricket, only hit 40% of fairways, presenting accuracy concerns. Scheffler, coming off an eight-shot victory at the Nelson, has shown flawless iron play and putting, despite never playing Quail Hollow professionally. Will Doctor endorsed Scheffler as his primary pick at +550. Justin Thomas, fourth favorite at 22-1, has been exceptional lately with two runner-ups and a win in his last four starts. His strong course history at Quail Hollow, including a 2017 PGA win, positions him as a top contender. Bryson DeChambeau, at +950, recently won at Live Korea, praised for his elite driving and improving short game, though his iron play remains a question. Doctor recommends DeChambeau for a Top 10 finish at +110 but avoids an outright pick. Sepp Straka's victory at Philly Cricket was highlighted by his 60% fairway rate, over 3.5 strokes gained on approach, and best-in-field putting performance. Shane Lowry led the field in approach but faltered with the putter, notably a costly three-putt on the 72nd hole, continuing his winless streak since 2022. Will Doctor criticized his own picks from the previous event, noting none contended, with Spieth finishing T34, Stevens T23, and Dorby Olson T54. His picks to place last week salvaged some units, including Patrick Cantlay and Tommy Fleetwood, both closing with 65s, and Andrew Novak with a final round 64 for T17. Quail Hollow, expected to play at 7,600 yards, faces wet conditions from early-week rains, likely favoring bombers and elite chippers, though greens will remain firm due to sub-air systems. The betting focus includes Justin Thomas over Jon Rahm at +117, McIlroy to Top 5 at even money, and Bryson DeChambeau to Top 10 at +110. Futures on Tyrell Hatton and Sung Jae Im have lost value, with both needing career weeks to contend, particularly Im, whose iron play has struggled all year. The DraftKings lineup features DeChambeau, Thomas, Matsuyama, Novak, Mitchell, and Norgaard, while the PGA.com lineup includes Scheffler (captain), DeChambeau, Thomas, McIlroy, with Mitchell and Novak on the bench. Keith Mitchell, known for his fast starts but inability to maintain over four rounds, is backed to Top 20 at 3-1. Doctor expects the winning score at 14 under, higher than the 8 under posted by Thomas in 2017 due to softer conditions. His best bet is DeChambeau to Top 10 at +110. He criticized the Live schedule's poor major prep, arguing it hampers players like Rahm more than DeChambeau. Finally, he acknowledged the rain's impact would likely limit firmness to Saturday only, favoring players with distance, elite iron play, and strong short games. Winner, winner fried perch dinner! ShallowCal gets a taste of some fish for the first time in 2025 with a FRL winner on Keith Mitchell at the Truist - and goes back to the well on Thursday Keith at the PGA. Antepost bets and multi-sport parlays dominate the cards this week trying to swerve around low numbers for the top-three on the odds board, but still one chance for a team win. SportsGuyTy goes with another selection from LIV in a major - but not who you might think. As always, tips, picks and best bets for the PGA Championship.
Today on Too Opinionated, we sit down with singer Keith Mitchell to talk about “He's Alive,” his rousing, praise-filled gospel fired soul debut single as a solo artist. Keith is finding his own voice as a solo artist and fully embracing his musical destiny after years of success recording and touring as part of the 80's-90's legendary, Grammy-Nominated R&B vocal group After 7. Founded in 1987 by Melvin and Kevon Edmonds, and long-time friend Keith Mitchell, the trio was initially produced by mega hit-makers Babyface (the Edmonds' younger brother) L.A. Reid, and Daryl Simmons in the group's self-titled 1989 debut album which spawned the Billboard #1 R&B (and Hot 100 Top Ten) hits “Ready or Not” and “Can't Stop.” They released two more albums (including the platinum-selling Takin' My Time) over the next decade before their initial split. Reforming in the late 2000s, After 7 resumed touring with Melvin's son Jason replacing him. Melvin rejoined them for their 2015 comeback single with the Top 10 AC hit “I Want You,” and their fourth album Timeless. With a few more personnel changes in the wake of Melvin's 2019 passing, After 7 released its fifth album Unfinished Business in 2021. Coinciding with the drop of “He's Alive,” Mitchell officially left the group in January. A powerful showcase for Keith's ultra-infectious vocal, rap and songwriting talents, “He's Alive” – the lead single from his upcoming debut album Food for Your Life - is an overflowing expression of the singer's great joy over the living presence of God in his life. He is known for his amazing short game and coaches many PGA players including Keith Mitchell, Sam Burns and more. Parker and Jordan talk short game, myths about chipping and break down some of the feels from Jordan's in-person lesson with Parker this year. Enjoy!
A Saturday finish at the Farmers Open allowed for a Sunday morning recording, so Andy and Brendan went live on YouTube to recap Harris English's fifth PGA Tour win. English gets his flowers as a worthy champion and true professional, shooting a 73 with 12 straight pars to secure a win. Most of the Torrey chatter is about slow pace-of-play yet again, as even Dottie Pepper called out the long Saturday rounds on the broadcast. In other notables, Luke Clanton finished t15, gaining another point in the PGA Tour U standings, and two of this gambling podcast's picks for the week finished in the top 15 as well. Andy and Brendan then check in on the Game Within a Game for the DP World Tour's event in the UAE, where Big Shot Bob Karlsson was the only one to make the cut of the three options. In news, Andy and Brendan discuss more quotes from PGA of America CEO Derek Sprague about "hitting the pause button" on the proposed rollback. In an interview with Golf Digest, Sprague reiterated that the PGA of America would not be in support of the rollback and expressed a desire for golf leadership to gather "all around the table," as if that hasn't happened before. Sponsor exemptions were announced for the AT&T Pebble Beach this week and, as expected, Jordan Spieth is on the list. He's joined by Gary Woodland, Keith Mitchell, and Rickie Fowler, which leads to a short look at Rickie's current status in the game. Finally, Andy, Brendan, and PJ look ahead to their trip to Florida for the debut of the Ballfrogs against Kevin Kisner and Jupiter Links on Monday night.
Tonight we break down Tiger's return in the second iteration of the TGL which saw the Cat, Kevin Kisner and Max Homa get wrecked by Team Rose, Morikawa and Sahith. Then TC and DJ are joined by PGA Tour resident foodie Keith Mitchell for an all-encompassing look at the best restaurants on tour, some of the less desirable stops on the calendar, and a special treat - Keith's Hall of Fame Caesar Salad List. Trying not to fade away like Cashmere Keith at the Valspar, the boys are back in the saddle for a ride through Texas. ShallowCal actually bets Keith Mitchell again, and SportsGuyTy goes long with a couple lottery tickets. But does it matter with Scott Alexander Scheffler in the field? Tips, picks and best bets for the Houston Open.

We break down Malnati's triumph, plus a look at the week for Cam Young, Keith Mitchell and JT, amongst others - plus some listener questions. Then it's time for a great deal of speculation around the meeting in the Bahamas between the Tour / SSG and the PIF (43:00). After a careful review of the flight tracking data and how close - or not close - a potential investment deal may be, we move on to Nelly Korda's win on the LPGA tour (53:00) and other news and notes. This time on PING we have Phil Regnauld from DNS Operations Analysis & Resource Center (DNS-OARC) talking about the three distinct faces OARC presents to the community. Phil came to the OARC presidents role, replacing Keith Mitchell who was the founding president since 2008 through to this year. Phil previously has worked with the Network Startup Resource Centre (NSRC) and with AFNOG, and the Francophone Internet community at large. DNS OARC has at least 3 distinct faces. It is a community of DNS operators and researchers, who maintain an active ongoing dialogue face to face in workshops and online in the OARC Mattermost community hub. Secondly it is a home, repository and ongoing development environment for DNS related tools such as DNSVIZ (written by Casey Deccio) hosting the AS112 project, and development of the DSC systems amongst many other tools. Thirdly it is the organiser and host of the Day In The Life or DITL activity, the periodic collection of 48-72 hours of DNS traffic from the DNS root operators, and other significant sources of DNS traffic. Stretching back over 10 years DITL is a huge resource for DNS research, providing insights in the use of DNS and its behaviour on-the-wire.

It feels near universal that PGA TOUR pro golfer Keith Mitchell is the best dressed man in the game. In some ways, we hold him up as proof that performance clothing isn't as important as some may think. Even if you aren't into golf his point of view is worth considering. Going beyond his appreciation for classic menswear, Keith has earned a reputation for holding good design in high regard, a trait which explains his appreciation for Mizuno irons and fine watches. This focus on aesthetics combined with his talent on the golf course which places him at the center of the cool-guy Venn diagram. Keith is the rare case of an aesthete athlete. He's someone who has done the on-course clothing thing differently, and done it to great success. In a sea of sameness he separates himself in all of the best ways. To say it's a breath of fresh air would be an understatement. I wanted to dive deeper into his personal style, approach to golf and just talk about so many other things. We sat down at the Brentwood Country Mart (which was fun but also potentially too busy for the audio; we live and we learn) for a wide ranging discussion covering life on the PGA TOUR, non-performance fabrics, watches, flying Delta, our mutual appreciation of Sid Mashburn and of course high-twist wool trousers. I hope you enjoy our conversation. The ACL Podcast is meant to be an add-on to the newsletter. You can listen in the Substack App, on Apple Podcasts or via Spotify directly if you prefer that. Today, Mike is talking to Keith Mitchell, Agency Owner in Mobile, Alabama. Growing up the son of a Liberty National Agent, Keith got to see what the business was all about from an early age. Even after moving around several times, Keith one day made the decision to follow in his father's footsteps; but getting started wasn't nearly as easy as he thought it would be. By adopting a mindset of growth, Keith eventually made helping people his north star and experienced true success. This is the Level Up Lifestyle podcast. In this encore episode, we go back 22 years and visit with a friend of mine who we lost in 2018 I have been a fan of Shooting Star for many years and had the opportunity to talk to Van McClain several times. My late wife and I had the great opportunity to have dinner with Van and Keith Mitchell before one of their gigs in St. Louis. This was the last interview I had with Van before he passed away. Van shares some funny road stories that were featured as part of the original Someone You Should Know national radio show in 2001. The photo was taken during one of our visits in 2000. RIP My friend.
