In Part 1 of Episode 28, I'm thrilled to be joined by two incredible guys: former Pirates and Red Sox outfielder Adam Hyzdu, and 5-time winner on Tour, now outstanding broadcaster Jim Gallagher Jr. Adam Hyzdu's journey in baseball is nothing short of remarkable. A standout prospect in high school, he left an indelible mark by breaking records, including surpassing Ken Griffey Jr.'s home run record at Moeller High School in Cincinnati. Despite not being selected as the first overall pick or landing with the Reds as he anticipated, being drafted 15th by the San Francisco Giants fueled his determination. Battling skepticism, Adam's resilience led him to remarkable minor league seasons in 1999 and 2000, where he showcased his abilities by combining to hit 61 home runs and drive in over 200 runs. His eventual stint with the Pittsburgh Pirates saw him etch his name in history, with the AA Altoona Pirates who retired his number—a testament to his impact on the organization. From his memorable Major League debut with the Pirates against the Reds to the clutch pinch-hit home run that sealed a victory a couple of weeks later against the Phillies, Adam shares great stories from his time in the big leagues, including his stint with the 2004 Red Sox during their historic World Series season. Jim Gallagher Jr., a beacon of sportsmanship, success, and positivity in the world of golf. Hailing as the most decorated player in University of Tennessee history, Jim's accolades span across prestigious halls of fame, including Indiana, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Reflecting on his recent honor of inducting his siblings into the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame, Jim shares poignant insights into his incredible family and the significance of their shared legacy. From discussing his alma mater the UT Vols' participation in the NCAA Men's Golf Regional Tournament to revisiting his remarkable third-place finish in the 1991 PGA Championship at Crooked Stick—a tournament that witnessed the meteoric rise of John Daly—Jim's journey in golf is one of incredible triumphs and fantastic stories. We finish off the segment with Jim's thoughts on what needs to happen to bring the Professional game back together so we can move forward with the best players being in the same fields.

Bucketheads' is the only men's basketball-focused podcast on the Land-Grant Podcast Network, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads' will be released every other Thursday during the offseason. Try as they might, Connor and Justin couldn't resist leading off episode 75 of Bucketheads by talking about Bronny James' recruitment and recent commitment to USC. They hashed out why, for a long time now, James playing for the Buckeyes didn't make a ton of sense logistically — despite how fun the idea was. Then, they discuss Ohio State's addition of sophomore forward Evan Mahaffey, a Cincinnati native, and graduate of Moeller High School. Mahaffey played one season at Penn State but will play his final three seasons in Columbus donning the scarlet and gray. The guys agree this is a high-reward, low-risk pickup for Ohio State, as he's unlikely to start or be pressured to contribute in any critical way this season. They close by discussing which college basketball player had a, “The worst person you know just made a very good point,” moment this week. I was getting ready for Chuck Mangione's flugelhorn to dazzle me with "O Canada" but the Candlestick P.A. announcer blew my mind when he noted the U.S Olympic Baseball Team was on the field. Rather than 29 Hall of Famers at the 'Stick that day, I realized Olympian Barry Larkin was there, too. And instead of 29 Hall of Famers, Larkin made 30. In this episode, we reminisce not only about Barry Larkin. Somehow, we end up on Cincinnati's Moeller High School, Gerry Faust, and a 58-7 curb stomping of Notre Dame by Jimmy Johnson and the University of Miami in 1985.

In this episode of In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics, one of the best football players to come out of Cincinnati, Bob Crable gets "In The Trenches". Growing up in Deer Park, Bob Crable proved to be an all-around athlete playing multiple sports. While Crable enjoyed a love of baseball, it was his ability on the gridiron that saw him become one of the Mighty Men of Moeller, helping the Crusaders go 36-0 and win three consecutive Ohio high school football championships under legendary head coach Gerry Faust. After Moeller, Crable would decide between Michigan and Notre Dame to continue his academic and athletic career. While in South Bend, Crable played for Dan Devine and again for Faust while setting Notre Dame records in tackles with 521 total career stops, still a Notre Dame record; most tackles in a season (187 in 1979) and a game (26 vs. Clemson in 1979) while being selected a two-time team captain and two-time consensus first-team All-American in both 1980 and 1981. After earning a degree from Notre Dame, Crable would hear his name called in the 1982 NFL Draft by the New York Jets with their first-round pick (23rd pick). Crable would spend seven years in the NFL with two knee injuries ending his professional career. After football, Crable would return to Cincinnati and build Crable Sportswear into a successful business before selling the company to The Midland Company in 1989, staying with the company as president. Bob Crable saw a life that went full circle as he returned to his high school alma mater, Moeller High School, during the 1992-93 school year as a coach taking over head coaching duties from 2000 to 2007. Bob Crable talks about his life's journey in this episode of In The Trenches with Dave Lapham.

ESP Media presents the Moeller Varsity Basketball Crusaders vs. Walnut Hills Eagles. Richard Skinner and Kent McKenzie bring you all of the action from Moeller High School.
When Carl Kremer was hired to be a teacher and assistant coach at Moeller High School in 1984, the program was not a basketball powerhouse. Things are just a bit different now. Coach Kremer took over as the head coach in January of 1990. Since then the Crusaders have won over 600 games and 5 Division I state championships in Ohio. For the most part those are just numbers, what they represent is a basketball program that has been constructed on very specific core values, and that has been led by as steady and humble of a head coach as any program could be. And Coach Kremer would want it said that the numbers also reflect a nearly continuous stream of remarkably talented and committed young men. A journey that began with a college student at Eastern Kentucky University, who was heavily involved in student government and local politics has resulted in one of the most storied basketball traditions that the state of Ohio has ever seen. Please enjoy my visit with Carl Kremer of Moeller High School. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jon-cook0/support

In Season 2 Episode 5 of BachTalk, I sat down with Scott Stocker. Scott is currently the pitching coach for Moeller High School. Moeller is a well know school in the state of Ohio due their consist accolades in sports and in the classroom. Scott also coaches for the Midland Braves which is apart of the highly prestigious Midland Baseball Organization. This past offseason Scott has worked with pitching pros such as Matt Marksberry, Nick Bennett (Milwaukee Brewers Organization), and Zach Logue (Toronto BlueJays Organization). Scott is becoming a “new age/data driven” pitching coach in the greater Cincinnati area. Before becoming the pitching coach at Moeller, he was the head coach at Madeira High School in Cincinnati which was to home of current Boston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi. Being a teacher at Madeira High School has given Scott a great foundation to become a coach and being personable with his players. Scott is always looking to improve his coaching style and he thinks the new age of pitching and technology has given him a new outlook on coaching. Please join me in listen to Scott and “Always Remember Be Yourself”.
