Etiquette: the customary code of polite behavior in society. Gone are the days of curtsying or even resisting the urge to gossip. But the debate still rages on about our ideas of modern etiquette. This week, Mona and Chloe dive in and try to answer the questions we all ask ourselves. Do you have to send a physical thank you note? Should you take your shoes off in someone's home? What are the rules for posting on social media for birthdays? We might not settle the debate, but we certainly had fun recording the episode! We've all had that one friend who is just a little bit toxic. Maybe they try to control what you do? Or they're always calling to vent but never ask about you? Or, like in Chloe's case, maybe they expect you to pay their rent?! It's so true that a good -- or bad -- friendship can shape your life. Friends should be your safe place, and for Chloe and Mona, that is their story. On this week's episode they explore why their friendship works so well, why other friendships they've had fizzled and why they've had to just let go of some people who used to be in their inner circle.Follow @MonaVand and @misschloeflower on Instagram, and @CoreSelfPodcast on TikTok!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Mona Vand was a 7-year vegan and destroyed her gut health by eating vegetables and grains. Vegetables destroy your gut health Plants have anti-nutrients. They cause leaky gut and IBS. They contain antinutrients like oxalates, lectins and phytates. That means that they have a negative effect on our bodies in the long term by damaging the digestive system and your gut. The most common problem caused by plants is a leaky gut syndrome (LGS), SIBO and dysbiosis. Animals are the most nutrient-dense foods on earth An animal-based diet contains all the essential nutrients humans need to thrive like B vitamins, zinc, choline, and iron. The problem with a vegan diet extends far more than just eating plants. The ideology is problematic and causes problems with our hormones, the brain and the gut microbiome. Dr Mona Vand has introduced some meat into her diet and is following a loosely based keto or carnivore diet, with exceptional results. After studying pharmacy at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Mona earned her Doctorate in just six years. Upon graduating, she returned to her native Los Angeles to pursue her career as a pharmacist, but learned that the 9-to-5 lifestyle wasn't her calling. She began to focus on sharing her health and wellness advice with the world through online content and was featured on The Doctors, NBC, The Telegraph, Yahoo Finance, and more. Once she began to grow a following from naturally sharing her passions, and many people started to express the impact she made in their lives, Mona decided it was time to make the career shift she always dreamed of. While she no longer practices as a pharmacist, she used her education and work experience to share health information in a relatable and digestible way. If there's one thing Mona's audience knows, it's that she never shares things she doesn't love. Mona believes that food is powerful medicine, and she lives by that philosophy each and every day. While medication and supplements can be part of the equation for leading a healthy life, she believes that food is the key for taking a holistic approach to wellness. Mona doesn't believe in perfection, but knows that every little bit of effort leads to a big difference. From quick tips for the kitchen (including her viral smoothie recipes and wellness shots) to her fan-favorite skincare tutorials and motivational talks, Mona will help you live life as the best and healthiest version of yourself. As an expert, blogger, and content creator, she will open your eyes to a new level of wellness that you've never seen before. Between Instagram, Tiktok and YouTube she has built a community of over 2 million subscribers who are consistently learning what it really means to be healthy. Want a super simple way to grow your channel to hundreds of thousands of subscribers? We've got the goods for you today. It's so simple you're gonna wonder what the catch is, but our guest beauty and wellness YouTuber Dr. Mona Vand will be breaking down her explosive growth to 200k subscribers in 1 year and give you real actionable steps to follow! So listen up ladies! “It's exhausting to be somebody that you're not.” - Erika Vieira Dr. Mona Vand started in a place where a lot of us start out. She was very hesitant to jump into YouTube because she felt it was too saturated. But after building her brand on Instagram and Snapchat, and wanting to give even more value and go into even more details on what she was teaching - going into detail is what she loves more than anything - she decided to try it out. For her first set of videos, she did everything wrong and barely grew at all. But in December 2017 she scrapped everything and started over. She dropped the persona she was trying to be, an embraced her flaws and all, and that's when she started to grow. One of her new videos hit 5k views and she was off to the races after that and hasn't stopped growing since! “Create really good quality content. Even if it takes a while, it will come.” - Dr. Mona Vand What's unique about her experience was that she started already comfortable with being on camera, after having done many lives and stories on IG and Snapchat. One hack she used was to not reinvent the wheel. She was already doing well with her lives, so why not record her YouTube videos as she does her lives? If you watch any of her videos, you can tell how well that works! She is a lot more calm and herself than her older videos, and she's gaining resonance with her audience because of it. She is a big supporter of just being yourself and focus on creating your best quality content and you'll grow. Tune in to the episode to hear all her other amazing lessons. “If you have the means to hire an editor, it's the best money spent.” - Dr. Mona Vand Check out the show notes Join the Zero to Influence Bootcamp waitlist Download your FREE guide: 6 Tools YouTubers Use to Get Thousands of Video Views Don't forget to join the Beauty and the Vlog Facebook group for collaborations, YouTube advice, support and more!
