In today's 21 News The Outcue S01E09, we update you on the ongoing financial investigation, which started in March in Vienna Township. This small community has been impacted by missing township funds—$1.3 million—leading to layoffs in the emergency services, including police and fire, and township officials working for free. While the state auditor's office is investigating the missing funds, 21 News has also been investigating what is happening. However, this case is complicated. Traditionally, one can make a public record request and see what the money trail shows. Public records are all documents for a village, city, township, state, school district, etc., paid for with taxpayer funds. They can include documents, audio recordings, emails, texts, or instant messages. 21 News Assistant News Director Justin Mitchell, along with anchor/reporter Erin Simonek and Senior Digital Content Manager Robert McFerren, discuss the public documents 21 News requested and received and why, in this case, it may not be as simple as following the money trail.

Experts are now speculating that America's reputation in the world, particularly in the Middle East, is taking a hit worse than when it invaded and occupied Iraq in 2003. Giorgio Cafiero, head of Gulf State Analytics and a keen observer of politics in the region, tells the podcast this week that President Biden is becoming more hated than George W. Bush during that era. This threatens to get even worse each day that the Israeli bombardments continue and more Palestinian civilians are killed (as of this writing, it is well over 11,000, nearly half of them children). Meanwhile, Arab leaders, especially those in the Gulf States with ties to both the U.S. and Israel, are coming under increasing pressure by the Arab Street to do more than just rhetorically signal their anger and displeasure with Tel Aviv and Washington. In the first segment, Kelley & Dan talk about the big Biden-Xi Jinping meeting in San Francisco this week: a nothingburger or a real step forward for diplomacy? More from Giorgio Cafiero:Consequences Of The Israeli War On Gaza, News Looks, 11/14/23Will Turkey-Israel ties reach breaking point amid Gaza war?, The New Arab, 11/14/23Will UAE hurt Russia with export controls to please the US amid Israel war? How is God at work in the world today? Jesus read from Isaiah 61 to describe what it looks like when the good news of his kingdom is at work in the world: the ignored are honored, the poor are fed, and the sick receive care. This kind of stuff happens wherever followers of Jesus honor him as King. Bible ReadingIsaiah 61:1-11Reflection Questions Where do you think renewal is most needed in your part of the world?Imagine God’s Kingdom bringing renewal to that situation. Welcome to podcast 7 of the Security Box. This week, let's peruse some topics, I'll link to some articles, and you can comment as usual. News, Notes, and much more. Thanks for listening! Election officials have been warned about Typosquatting domains and how they can be used to bring trouble to their particular candidate. Typosquatting is a big problem, and in a future podcast, we'll look in to what this is. In an article entitled Feds warn election officials of potentially malicious ‘typosquatting’ websites you'll learn what is the danger in the election scheme of things. I think its time to really bring out a topic. How many people heard of the dark web? 11.6 billion records have been breached and are on the dark web since 2005 according to this article by Lastpass. Is this something we should be concerned with as a whole, or do you think it isn't a big deal? This can only get worse, and the box wants to hear what you think of this. Each year, more companies are breached than ever before and it is definitely a problem I think. There is a way you can scan the dark web for any type of data like an Email address, but is this enough? Lastpass has the capability of doing this for you. The article What are dark web scans? goes in to more details on how this is done. News: Looks like Experian can't keep their mouth shut. According to a Cyberscoop article, 24 million South Africans are now at risk because someone potentially opened their mouth. They said the employee was tricked in to disclosing information on a unknown number of people, but the number seems to be a whopping 24 million. No hacking needed: Someone duped Experian into handing over data in breach affecting 24 million South Africans is the article and boy if Equifax and Experian haven't learned anything from their prior U.S. things, when will they ever learn? The U.S. stuff were hacking attempts but still ... human intervention is the weakest link in this whole ordeal. This week in Security News from August 21st covers another article on the 24 million from South Africa and even some other stuff that might be of interest. The tech blog will also highlight things from this article that might be of interest. Michael in Tennessee went ahead and gave me a heads up on this one. Turns out that a former CSO was charged in the Uber breach from 2016. U.S. prosecutors have charged the former Chief Security Officer at Uber with allegedly covering up a data breach at the ride-hailing company that exposed information tied to roughly 57 million people. Joe Sullivan was charged Thursday in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco with failing to disclose details of the security incident. to the proper authorities. Sullivan, who now works as the chief information security officer at Cloudflare, allegedly committed two felonies by not informing investigators about the hack while they probed the circumstances surrounding a prior data breach. This is great news, and one in which I want to cover in passing. Former Uber CSO criminally charged with covering up 2016 data breach has the full details from Cyberscoop.

The real possibility of a six figure income in a couple of years. Summer is ending we hope you get out there and ride.  Thanks for tuning in this week, as always we start by talking about our riding. Roads for Barber visitors to try and ride from two locations 1st – Oak Mountain State Park State park road heading to Oak Mountain from HWY 119 is one of my favorite, tree canopy short < 5 miles There is a back entrance to the park (or at least us to be) and the road through the park is a nice ride. 39/331 one that I want to ride Different roads heading out to Columbiana 2nd – Barber itself From HWY 280 and I-459 take Sicard Hollow to Rex lake If you are staying north of that area closer to down town Birmingham take Overton on the way to I-459 then hit Liberty Parkway and that will run into Sicard Hollow State HWY 25 – some call it the Alabama dragon ( I wouldn’t go that far) but a fun little road, watch your speed there are a few blind hairpins. Ride through the Talladega National forest, some dirt roads some paved but you can have a ton of fun on either or both Throttled Ride Along: If you are interested in having a Throttled Ride where you can come and ride with Kevin at Barber write in and let us know. How many miles would you want to do or how long(hours) would you like to ride. What day of the event Fri, Sat or Sunday works best? What time of day, Morning or after lunch? What starting point works best? Barber, 280 and 459, Pelham or Hoover *note that some of the roads that I mentioned about will most likely be involved in the ride at some point. We can go ahead and say that this will be a moderate pace that may at times be slightly faster than posted speeds but shouldn’t be worth an officers time. News:Looks like another brand to be built in India and Triumph announces plans. Sena released the 10uPad. We cover the video of Canadian riders holding up traffic. We also cover a rider who survives a tragic accident and then…blames the bike? Recalls:BMW issues two recalls this week  Here is first and the second.
