On Tuesday it was announced that Stars forward Alexander Radulov would be joining Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL. It appears his time as a Dallas Star has come to an end, and it leaves us time to reflect on the fun we had watching him in Dallas for the past 5 seasons in Dallas. His contagious energy and clutch playoff performances will be remembered by many for years to come. What does this move mean for the Dallas Stars as a franchise? We are witnessing a changing of the guard in Dallas. There is still plenty of veteran talent on the team, but they are slowly being overshadowed by the next generation. Is that a good thing? To close, we freak out over the epic game we saw in game 1 of the western conference finals between the Avalanche and Oilers.Subscribe to Locked on Stars on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnStarsFollow Dane on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Dane__LewisFollow the show on Twitter: https://twitter.com/LockedOnStarsFind Locked on Stars on you Favorite Podcast Platform:Apple: https://tinyurl.com/3wjnbvp2Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/2p9yx4urGoogle: https://tinyurl.com/2yc492b7Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. On today's show, Dane is joined by Sam Nestler of The Hockey Writers to talk about the Stars and their standings in trade talks as well as playoff seeding. Will we continue to see scoring from guys on the bottom six like Raffl, Faksa and Radulov? Will Jake Oettinger be prepared for the playoffs if the Stars find themselves there? Where could the Stars finish in the seeding? Wildcard? Top three in the central? Today on the show, Frank and Mike talked about the official Olympic announcement, what disappoints them the most about NHLers not going, they gave 'stocking stuffers' to a few NHL teams, and Chris Peters stopped by for a World Juniors preview!
The long wait has entered its last mile: The Dallas Stars have returned to training camp. After the series of disasters that defined last season, anything short of the rink burning down around them will be an improvement. But how will this team come together over the next few weeks? We're not sure, either – but Wes, Mark and Taylor discuss everything from the Traverse City NHL Prospect Tournament to Braden Holtby's tortoises in an effort to figure it out. In this edition: What, if anything, actually matters about the Prospect Tournament? Does a prospect's performance there say anything about whether he's good at hockey? What did the Stars do differently from every other team in the tournament? Does Ty Dellandrea's peak game depend on him getting a couple of years older (and bigger)? What did Taylor learn about the state of the team at the opening of training camp? What really shut down Alexander Radulov last season? What should we infer when Tyler Seguin tells the media he feels “dangerous” this year? How did the Long-Term Injury line of Seguin, Radulov and Joel Kiviranta look? What should we make of the John Klingberg-Ryan Suter and Miro Heiskanen-Esa Lindell practice pairings? For that matter, what should we make of the big news about Ben Bishop's injury status? Is this Rick Bowness' first big chance to install his System 2.0 and test it out? And how hard is it to tell how the team looks overall when you're really just watching them do drills? Are you looking forward to see how Segs' cybernetic leg will perform? Then you're among friends here at Stargazing – the official podcast of Unbridled Training Camp Energy. This week Laura joins Mike from @itsahockeynight podcast live in Pittsburgh…but on Skype to discuss: how we (with an assist from Jack Johnson) helped to end the Pens 5 game win streak, do the Devils celebrate a win by dressing up as the cast of Top Gun? Which players could transition to other sports? The only think that can stop the Stars curse is a Hocus Pocus level spell – what do Sequin, Benn & Radulov throw into the cauldron? And finally Laura has devised the perfect way to land all the problematic NHLers in jail – you’re welcome.
In Texas, everything is bigger, except the final scores. Seguin, Benn, Radulov -- what's not to like?
