BEARS QB Justin Fields dominate WASHINGTON in unexpected Victory! The Bears had enough of the negativity, of the outside noise, of the heartbreak they had endured for 11 straight months. On a short week with no time to waste on distractions, Chicago ended its 14-game losing streak and beat the Commanders on the road. Last week, Fields felt the Bears' offense was finally beginning to show its identity. After a lightning-fast start and third-quarter lull, Chicago showed it could finally put away an opponent and leave nothing in doubt in the final minutes of the game. One week after giving up 21 points en route to a devastating loss, the Bears' 20-point win is tied for the fourth largest in NFL history by a team entering on a double-digit losing streak. Buy/sell a breakout performance: DJ Moore found the end zone on two of Chicago's five scoring drives in the first half. His Randy Moss-like catch over Commanders cornerback Kendall Fuller and first-half stat line (five catches, 137 yards, 2 TDs ) helped the Bears build a 24-point lead going into the half and even had LeBron James marveling at the receiver's explosiveness on X. Moore's fourth-quarter touchdown -- his third of the game -- put the game away for Chicago on a night when he notched the second-most receiving yards in a game (230) by a Bears receiver. Encouraging trend: The Bears sacked Commanders QB Sam Howell five times -- which is great considering the team had only two sacks in its four previous games -- but two of those were generated by linebacker T.J. Edwards and cornerback Greg Stroman Jr. (who also recorded the team's first interception of the season against a starting quarterback). Chicago remains committed to pressuring with its four down linemen, but the line didn't break through until Yannick Ngakoue brought down Howell on second-and-9 in the fourth quarter. DeMarcus Walker and Rasheem Green recorded two more sacks late. QB breakdown: Fields became the first Bears quarterback to throw for three or more touchdowns in back-to-back games since the 1970 merger. He built upon his three good quarters against the Denver Broncos and has completed 43 of 64 pass attempts for 617 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception in his past two games, complete with a 131.2 passer rating. Most importantly, Fields didn't let a slow start to the second half hinder him from putting the game away when he found Moore for a 56-yard touchdown with 4:18 to play. Justin Fields and Luke Getsy have rightfully been at the center of the criticism coming from the Chicago Bears Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers, but one of the overlooked themes from the game was the big free agent signings and trades underachieving. Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards couldn't take away the middle of the field. DeMarcus Walker and Rasheem Green weren't disruptive on the defensive line. Nate Davis and Lucas Patrick couldn't block up front. And Chase Claypool did not give good effort. The silver lining was many of Poles' draft picks showing promise. David Haugh and Dan Wiederer wonder how seriously the Bears should consider drafting Bijan Robinson, a runningback, at #9 overall. While Robinson appears to be a top talent in the draft, RBs aren't exactly a premium position in the modern NFL. Plus, Ryan Poles has signed Rasheem Green as what looks to be another depth piece on the defensive line. YouTube LiveStream Show Replay - After losing their preseason opener, the Seahawks followed it up with another loss to the Denver Broncos at home. This game was just as ugly as last week, if not worse. Most of this can be point to the Seahawks starting their 3rd string quarterback and resting 21 players after resting 33 last week. The opening kick started with Ben Burr-Kirven tearing his ACL, and just went downhill from there. There were some bright spots. Rasheem Green continues to look good. The Seahawks offense struggled throughout the first half and the defense could not get off the field on third down against a running attack by the Las Vegas Raiders. The defensive line was bullied throughout the game, although there were some nice plays from Rasheem Green and Alton Robinson. The highlight of Saturday's game was a touchdown pass on fourth down to running back DeeJay Dallas. Dallas and Alex McGough talked about what they saw on that play following the game. In Blue 42, Michael Bumpus discusses when he would become concerned about Duane Brown and Jamal Adams contract situations, the NFL vowing to crack down on taunting, and why Kyle Shanahan is mishandling the 49ers QB situation. Then, Seahawks defensive linemen Rasheem Green joins us to discuss training camp and his area of focus this offseason. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Michael Bumpus discusses his thoughts on the Seahawks re-signing Benson Mayowa and adding Kerry Hyder, what's next for the Seahawks in free agency, and whether we can expect more from guys like L.J. Collier and Rasheem Green this year. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Curtis and Taylor look at the possible impact of Carlos Dunlap and Rasheem Green on the Seahawks pass rush, they also check the Seahawks injury list ahead of tomorrow’s game against the Bills, and they ask why the Pac-12 can’t get out of their own way. The Seahawks put together what was probably their most satisfying victory over the season, because they did it against their rival San Francisco 49ers. Of course Niners fans will complain about injuries, the turf, Russell Wilson being so good at football that it's somehow unfair, D.K. Metcalf having more abs than should be legally allowed, and Bobby Wagner keeping a secret stash of voodoo dolls he can deploy as he's running through their offensive line. We could go on. Seattle travels to Buffalo this weekend to take on Josh Allen and the Bills. If the Seahawks can put up 25 points, which according to stats off the top of Adam's head is roughly half of what our team usually scores with Russell Wilson against the Bills, then they'll join a small club of high scoring offenses through eight regular season games. On defense, we will likely see the addition of Carlos Dunlap and the return of Jamal Adams and Rasheem Green. In the second half of the show, we talk about Russell Wilson and the mentorship role that he's demonstrating this year. Who are the other NFC contenders for the top seed? Tampa Bay and Green Bay are looking like the only two serious challengers. In Do Better, we're talking about analysts who are suggesting that Wilson was inviting a helmet shot late in the game against the 49ers and a clothing store that dared to suggest love and unity among our fellow Americans this week. Better at life honors go to NASA for reconnecting with Voyager 2 and to Bobby Wagner for his NFC defensive player of the week honors. Seattle Seahawks fans, where ever you may be, welcome back to the latest edition of the Seahawks Playbook Podcast! Your Host's Bill Alvstad and Keith Myers are here to talk Seahawks football, so thanks for joining us! Up this week: The Seahawks dominated the 49ers at home to breeze to a commanding 37-27 win to position the Seahawks at 6-1 on the year, 1st place in the NFC West Division as well as the #1 seed in the NFC. The Seahawks' offense was able to do it's usual thing against a 49er defense that came into the game with a top 5 DVOA ranking in terms of both points allowed and yards given up. Didn't matter as Russell Wilson hung 4 touchdowns on them and D.K. Metcalf had a career day totaling 12 receptions on 15 targets for 161 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The big news however was the way the defense came to play on the day. They were able to come out agressive and limit the 49ers on offense to 117 yards through the first 3 quarters of this game. Their first truly dominate performance of the season. Although Nick Mullens did come in for lots of garbage time yards and some points, the game was out of reach and Seattle remained firmly in control. Can the Seattle defense maintain this level of performance against the Buffalo Bills this coming weekend....and beyond? That remains to be seen. However, Seattle is getting a handful of quality reinforcements onto the defense that looks to match the offense in the way it can dictate terms to opponents. Damon Harrison and Carlos Dunlap look to make their Seahawks debuts this weekend. In addition, Rasheem Green, Jamal Adams, Benson Mayowa and Ugo Amadi look to return from injury as well. On offense, Seattle hopes to return Chris Carson into the fold after missing a week with a foot sprain. All things considered, the Seahawks stand at 6-1 and appear to be getting as healthy and talented as they have been for the entire season, right at the right time as Seattle faces 3 quality opponents in the next 3 weeks. Buffalo, the Rams and a rematch against the Cardinals at home. Exciting stuff indeed! Go Hawks!

Rasheem Green has been ruled out and placed on IR. These stingers seem to be lingering issues. How concerned are you that he will miss more time? Also Quinton Dunbar (knee), Benson Mayowa (groin), Neiko Thorpe (hip) and Cedric Ogbuehi (pec) are questionable. Defensively, are you more concerned about the secondary, linebackers or defensive line? Plus, former Seahawk Cliff Avril joins the show and is all aboard the Russell Wilson hype train. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Seahawks didn't escape the injury bug that hit the league in Week 2. Bruce Irvin and Marquise Blair were sent to injured reserve, so you won't hear their names, but Duane Brown, Rasheem Green and Benson Mayowa sat out practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. There was a long list of players who had relatively minor injuries or were rested from practice this week as well. In my chat with Anthony Nachreiner of the Nach on Sports this week we talked about Russell Wilson's comments about wanting to win an MVP award and if there might be too much focus on that particular achievement. Despite two straight weeks of the Seahawks defense giving up big yardage, there's a bigger area of concern with the matchup against the Cowboys. Finally, we go through the Week 3 set of games and share our picks. Pete Carroll updated that Rasheem Green has a stinger. Does that open the door for Alton Robinson to be active? Also Brian Schottenheimer addressed “letting Russ cook” without using the expression. Mike Reiss who covers the Patriots for ESPN.com talks about his first impression of Cam Newton and what challenges they will face against the Seahawks. Plus, Bill Belichick had some strong praise for Russell Wilson. Does it seem like Belichick has been a little more talkative and friendly lately with the media? Tonight the NFL has officially returned with the Chiefs and Texans kicking things off. How do the Seahawks stack up to the rest of the league? How will Ethan Pocic handle the transition to starting center? Looking ahead to this Sunday's matchup with the Falcons, there are 3 players to watch. With Clowney officially gone, what is now expected from Rasheem Green and LJ Collier? See omnystudio.com/policies/listener for privacy information.

Russell Wilson said yesterday that he would like the ball in his hands more throughout the game. With Russ saying this and asking for superstars, in which the Seahawks got Jamal Adams, is he using his leverage on the Seahawks? Mike Salk stops by the show to discuss with Tom and Jake about why he doesn't agree with "Let Russ Cook". Then, Jake discusses how LJ Collier and Rasheem Green need to be the two defensive linemen that step up the most in 2020.
Entering the league as a 21-year old rookie in 2018, Rasheem Green struggled to make an impact as a rookie for the Seahawks. But he found his groove when given opportunities in his second season thanks to injuries to Ziggy Ansah and Jadeveon Clowney. He led the Seahawks in sacks during the 2019 season, so will Rasheem Green be able to anchor a thin defensive line in 2020? Jake and Stacy put the third year pass rusher under Monday's spotlight. In NFL Headlines, Antonio Brown really likes attention. What kind of impact will California's decision to postpone high school football until the Spring have on Washington? Jake explains. Sum It Up ends Monday.
D.K. Metcalf shows out, Seattle’s defensive line steps up and the Seahawks stay alive after beating Philly in the wild card round of the playoffs. Will, what worked against the Eagles be enough to stop the Packers in the divisional round? Michael-Shawn and Christopher discuss.
The Seattle Seahawks gave up 21 first half points to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday and went into the half with only three points on offense. Two Quandre Diggs interceptions in the Rams first two possessions of the third quarter and a blocked field goal attempt by Rasheem Green on the third were the kind of plays the team needed to help the Seahawks offense get opportunities they needed to get back into the game. Unfortunately, the Seahawks weren't able to capitalize with the defense holding the Rams to 28 points. It was the lowest scoring game for the Rams offense since the Pete Carroll first faced off against Sean McVay in Week 5 of the 2017 season. Recapping Seattle's 37-30 win over Minnesota: A dynamic 1-2 punch on the ground, New Edition dance moves, Baby Yoda Russ and another day of turnovers for the defense as the Seahawks jump into the NFC West driver seat.
The Seahawks move to 9-2 on the season after this past Sunday's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles which puts them at 6-0 on the road. It matches their best mark in franchise history and they did it without the help of Jadeveon Clowney. We talk about the last time a core injury came up with a star player and how it impacted the Seahawks in the playoffs during the 2015 season. Even without Clowney, Seattle's pass rush was able to frustrate Carson Wentz who was dealing with a diminished offensive line and receiving corps. Rasheem Green had one of his best days as a member of the Seahawks and was instrumental in Al Woods getting a stat in the football deflation column. Rashaad Penny helped put the game away with a 58-yard run, but that didn't help to make Adam any less frustrated with the play from the running backs this past week. Looking ahead to the Monday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle faces a team in a similar mold of the last two football teams. The difference is that the Vikings have far superior weapons on offense with Dalvin Cook, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. Seattle will be in their modified color rush jerseys which are reminiscent of the 2009 jerseys the Seahawks only wore once. Plus, Adam shares his concerns as well as his joy regarding the Rams getting thrashed in their color rush jerseys. We close out the show with a do better to the 49ers and their fans who might have to experience some inclement weather for a change in their game against the Ravens. While Better At Life carriers on the 49ers theme for some good causes that Richard Sherman has been a part of during the holiday season. The Seahawks finish up their first quarter of the season by getting their second straight win on the road. Seattle goes to 2-1 on the season after a 27-10 victory over the Cardinals. Of course, when the Seahawks win, Clinton Bonner starts with an IN on this unique look back on the previous game. The first one goes to L.J. Collier for making his first play on the team where fans really take notice. Everyone talks about Chris Carson and overcoming his ball control issues in this game, but this is 3 IN, 3 OUT, so Clinton focuses on one play in the 4th quarter that set the tone for the Seahawks final drive. Finally, Rasheem Green had an impressive open field tackle to sack Kyler Murray and get the last IN. It's gameday! Going into the game, Pete Carroll was on the podium and talked about how we'll see Geno Smith get the start and how important it is for the team's rookies to get going and make an impact. Coach Carroll points to the preseason impact that Chris Carson and Rasheem Green showed in previous preseason games. Chris Carson says that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is looking to get the running backs more involved in the passing game and he talks about how he promised his mom that he wouldn't be going airborne in avoiding defenders this year. Barkevious Mingo talks about his transition from playing linebacker last year to playing defensive end for the team in 2019. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The USC football team has made it beyond the halfway point of fall camp, but just how far along are the Trojans? Keely Eure and Shotgun Spratling are back in the studio with a new episode of the Family Feud Podcast to discuss that and more. They look at what has happened in the first 10 competitive practices over the first two weeks and evaluate who is pushing themselves to the forefront and who is lagging behind. The dueling duo jump right into their Stock Up/Stock Down segment to debate who is excelling and who they want to see more from. One of the more interesting cases comes in the form of redshirt junior Ykili Ross. The hybrid defensive back who can play the safety and nickel back positions only had one full practice before tweaking his hamstring. He came out of the spring as the incumbent at the safety spot opposite Marvell Tell III, but having not seen the field in over a week and a half, where does Ross' stock stand? A USCfootball.com podcast this fall camp would not be complete without a discussion of the quarterback competition. Find out where Keely and Shotgun have the quarterbacks in their Stock Up/Stock Down segment and see what impact injuries have had on some of the position battles. The feuders bring back the "Heard it on the Sidelines..." segment to give you some of the most interesting tidbits they've heard while roaming the sidelines and from speaking with the players and coaches during fall camp, including what everyone is saying about true freshman receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and how the dynamic between defensive backs coach Ronnie Bradford and new defensive consultant Dave Campo, a former NFL defensive coordinator and head coach, has played out. Finally, Keely and Shotgun end the show with their Agree/Disagree segment. In this segment, Keely asks if the Trojans should whittle down the quarterback competition after this weekend's scrimmage? The duo also discuss what kind of potential the USC defensive line has this season. Without Uchenna Nwosu, Rasheem Green and Josh Fatu, could the Trojans be even better than last year's team that tied for the most sacks in the nation? This episode of the Family Feud Podcast concludes with a discussion about season expectations and what type of record should be accepted as a quality season and what will be considered overachieving. Keely and Shotgun are looking to feature your question on an upcoming episode of the Family Feud Podcast. The 2018 NFL Draft is in the books for the Seahawks and the team made worldwide news by taking Shaquem Griffin, twin brother of Shaquille Griffin, in the fifth round of the draft. Griffin was born with amniotic band syndrome and had his left hand amputated at age four. He becomes the first one-handed player drafted into the NFL. Seattle continued their push to improve the run game by being the second team to take a running back in the draft and selecting Rashaad Penny out of San Diego State. Will Dissly became the first player from the University of Washington drafted by the Seahawks since Jerramy Stevens was taken in the first round back in 2002. The full list of Seattle Seahawks players selected: Rashaad Penny, RB, San Diego State Rasheem Green, DE, USC Will Dissly, TE, Washington Shaquem Griffin, OLB, Central Florida Tre Flowers, S, Oklahoma State Michael Dickson, P, Texas Jamarco Jones, OT, Ohio St. Jake Martin, EDGE, Temple Alex Mcgough, QB, Florida International Rob Staton of seahawksdraftblog.com offers his thoughts on each of the players and talks about some of the reasoning behind some of the later round selections. Jones was a player that was expected to go sooner in the draft, but may have fallen in the draft due to some of his numbers in the combine. Martin displayed a level of toughness at Temple that would be appealing to the Seahawks. Mcgough was a player who seemed to go under the radar leading up to the draft, but had a statistic that Seattle seemed particularly intrigued by. Samuel Gold of Sam's Film Room on Field Gulls also joined the show to talk about his upcoming breakdown video of Rashaad Penny. While Penny wasn't his second-favorite running back on the board, he did have him as the fourth best in the class. Sam said his criteria for taking a running back in the first round is that he wanted to see a complete all-around player or someone with elite running talent. He says pass blocking is a major area of improvement for Penny. Sam also talks about Rasheem Green and the steps Green will need to take in his game to become a top defensive lineman at the professional level. He points toward one college game in particular where Green showed that playing on the interior of the defensive line might be difficult for him in the pros and why he is projected to play defensive end with the ability to move inside to rush the passer.

Saman, Will, and Kenneth rehash USC's resounding win over the Stanford Cardinal, reveling in victory and making fun of Saman for being so, so wrong. Hard to do more than gloat after the performances from Sam Darnold, Ronald Jones II, Stephen Carr, Uchenna Nwosu, Rasheem Green, and much more.
