Puck brought up the idea of Chip Kelly coming back to the NFL. How culpable should Mike Macdonald and John Schneider be with the firing of Grubb? Lastly, before Jim leaves, they chat about the new Tiger Woods indoor golf league that debuted on Tuesday night. Some good and some bad about the new venture. (33:39) Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com joined the show to discuss the firing of Grubb. It's been two weeks since Puck and Rob have chatted so there was a lot to go over, but the main topic of the segment was the removal of Grubb. Rob and Puck disagree on the decision, but came to the conclusion that Macdonald and Grubb simply didn't mesh personality wise and if that's truly the case than a move was to be made. But, as they have discussed in the past, when you have a defensive minded coach, like Macdonald, shuffling through offensive coordinators can be a problem and this will be a significant hire for Macdonald and Schneider. Wait, no moves have been made and Divish and Puck discuss what the M's have in store with many of their options drying up. Will they trade Luis Castillo? What free agents out there can help Seattle? They also can't figure out why Pro Football Focus (PFF) does not like Jones. Can you believe the Seahawks have a shot at first place in the NFC West?! Puck and Rob can't and that's what makes sports fun. Puck than transitions to baseball and plays a preview of his Mariners Offseason DiamondTable Show with Ryan Divish and Adam Jude of the Seattle Times. On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett chats with his weekly guest, Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network and Michael-Shawn Dugar from The Athletic stops by for the “Opponent Preview.” Puck opened up the show reacting to yesterday's show with Rob Staton, from SeahawksDraftBlog.com. This was a miserable offseason for John Schneider, but how do they go about fixing it this offseason? Some tough decisions will have to be made on current players. But so far with Schneider running the ship it's been rocky. Puck turns his attention to the Huskies and wonders why they would keep playing Will Rogers at quarterback and not hand the reigns over to Demond Williams. he plays a soundbite from his show with Elise Woodward and Jordan Reffett, “Puck the Huskies” asking them that very question. Is making a bowl game that big of a deal? Can you believe what Mariners GM Justin Hollander said about Mitch Garver and Mitch Haniger?? Puck reacts to that and the report that the Mariners are interested in bringing back Justin Turner. Mike Garafolo, NFL Network, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly conversation. Mike has pulled off on the side of the road as he is traveling to Philly to cover Thursday night football between the Eagles and the Commanders. Puck asked Mike a hypothetical question about whether or not Seahawks fans would switch Mike Macdonald and Ryan Grubb for Dan Quinn and Kliff Kingsbury…but, Puck says you have to add Jayden Daniels! That question leads to the discussion with the Bears and Caleb Williams. Who will be the next coach of the Bears? They obviously have to hire an offensive minded coach. Would Lincoln Riley of USC be the perfect fit? What is wrong with the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones? Also, Mike and Puck would be thrilled to see Deion Sanders land with the Cowboys…Amazing theater! Finally, Puck asks Mike, what is wrong with his Seahawks and what is going on with John Schneider? Is he equipped to truly run this thing?Michael Shawn-Dugar, The Athletic. @MikeDugar. Co-Host of “Seahawks-Man-2-Man Podcast” joined Jason “Puck” Puckett from the “Opponent Preview.” Mike and Puck discussed the offseason by Seahawks GM John Schneider. How much of it was a failure and do they have enough resources to fix the problem? Why does the organization have an issue with drafting offensive lineman? Is it a philosophical problem or coaching issue? If the team continues to lose would it be better for them to lose out to raise their draft position or finish strong so they know the switch they made with the head coach was the right move?Should the Seahawks consider trading D.K. Metcalf and consider moving on from Geno Smith in the offseason? Finally, Puck wraps up with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Lebron James is not human and is a cyborg! Appreciate what he is doing at his age. You'll never see it again.
Today's Daily Puck Drop with Jason “Puck” Puckett features Jim Moore, the Go-2-Guy from a rainy parking lot in Sandy, Oregon. But, he's got his headsets and a microphone and good to go! Puck and Jim open up the show discussing the Cougars effort and challenges of keeping John Mateer in Pullman. Puck argues that the fanbase can make a difference and he believes he'll stay. They also touch in on the breaking news that Abe Lucas has been activated off the PUP list and will play Sunday against the 49ers. How healthy and effective will Lucas be? That remains a big question mark. Puck tells Jim that he missed a great basketball game on Tuesday night between the Mavericks and Warriors with Klay Thompson's homecoming. Crowd was great. The play was sensational. But, on Klay's night, it was Steph Curry stealing the show. Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly visit. They discuss the release of Tyrel Dodson. How bad of an offseason did John Schneider have?Does Rob fee like Puck in wanting the team to lose out if they can't get wins in the next two weeks? What will the offseason have in store for D.K. Metcalf and Geno Smith. Rob makes the point that you will have to choose. Lastly, Rob takes a look at the NFL draft and offers his thoughts on a conversation had with Mike Garafolo about the upcoming draft. Ryan Divish, Seattle Times, joins the show for his “Cold Stove” M's offseason chatter with Jason “Puck” Puckett. Divish is once again substitute teaching at his former high school in Havre, Montana. They open up discussing why catcher Cal Raleigh should have won the Silver Slugger Award over Salvador Perez. The conversation then turns to their offseason look at the third base position. Currently the only internal option to play third base is Josh Rojas. Ryan thinks they'll bring Rojas back but he won't primarily be the third baseman and that they will have to find another option there, most likely via a trade. Ryan believes you could have a situation where Rojas and Dylan Moore will platoon at second base. Ryan also gets into the teams desire to bring Justin Turner back and their preference to trade Luis Castillo in the offseason. And, Divish contemplated the idea that Puck brought up about trading for Phillis third baseman Alec Bohm. Would that be a good fit for the M's?Lastly, Puck wraps up with “Hey, What the Puck!?” It's time for Cougar fans to get out and support their players. If you want John Mateer to stay and continue to be the starting quarterback for the Cougars well into the future, then join the Cougar Collective today!

On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett rides solo until he welcomes Mike Garafolo, NFL Network to the show for his weekly visit. Puck opens up the show discussing his conversation with Rob Staton, from SeahawksDraftblog.com on Thursday. What happens to the Seahawks if they fail in their next three games that includes the 49ers, Cardinals and New York Jets? The organization should start thinking about a rebuild. Because at that point you are no closer to winning a championship how you are currently constructed. The Seahawks rebuilt back in 2010, so they have done it before. Rebuilds in football don't take that long. But serious conversations need to be had that asks is it worth giving D.K. Metcalf and Geno Smith big deals if they don't have a proper offensive line?Puck also touches in on his love affair for the Kingdome because Puck is wearing hat and sweatshirt from the Kingdome. Mike Garafolo, NFL Network, joins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly visit from the Los Angeles airport. Mike and Puck jump right into the NFL trade deadline and discuss how many teams called the Seahawks about trading for D.K. Metcalf? Mike tells Puck that the biggest offseason storyline will surround the status of quarterback Geno Smith. Do the Seahawks feel he is the answer? If they do, what type of offer will be made? If they decided to move on, what options are out there for Seattle and if they do move on, why keep Metcalf if you don't have a viable solution at QB? Puck asks Garafolo if the Seahawks will be in rebuild mode this offseason? Mike disagrees with Puck on their current state. Garafolo gives a health update on Christian McCaffrey, Dak Prescott and Lamar Jackson. What trades made sense to Mike and what trades did he think were going to happen but didn't happen. The Carolina Panthers gave an extension to their running back…why?! After Mike's appearance, Puck chats about a topic that Ryan Divish, Seattle Times, brought up on his weekly show on Wednesday about which professional team in Seattle is the closest to winning a championship? Both Puck and Divish agree on their answer and it's really not close. Puck also touches in on the future of WSU head coach Jake Dickert. John Canzano on Tuesday pointed out that Anne McCoy, the WSU AD and Dickert's client agent have talked about a new deal about keeping him for the next ten years, but there are some reservations from upper campus about giving him that type of deal in today's climate in college athletics. Lastly, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Puck reads a twitter post from a coach at UNLV that tells current high school football players should savior this week because it is most likely the last time they will ever suit up playing football.
On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is riding solo as Jim Moore, who usually joins on Wednesday's had to attend to a personal matter, but Puck rolls on as he welcomes his regular weekly guests, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times and Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com Puck opens up the show with his criticism of local reporters who claim that the national media was and is just making up a story about D.K. Metcalf and perhaps being traded. As Puck points out it's the same group that claimed that Russell Wilson was never going to be traded and anyone that ever brought that up was uneducated and didn't have a clue about the situation because they weren't “local” and didn't have boots on the ground. It's just inaccurate to say that the Seahawks didn't listen to offers. They obviously didn't have an offer they liked so that's why they didn't trade him, but to suggest that reporters like Mike Garafolo, NFL Network, who joins Puck every week or Adam Schefter of ESPN just simply made up a story is just complete nonsense and Puck can't understand why they didn't learn their lesson from the Wilson trade. Ryan Divish, Seattle Times is back to join Jason “Puck” Puckett, for the Mariners “Cold Stove” Offseason Report. They quickly dive into the M's biggest offseason needs, which are improving the infield and specifically second base, however, there is not much talent out there on the free agent market, nor do the M's feel propelled to trade one of their young pitchers to upgrade that position. Ryan calculated, along with Adam Jude of the Seattle Times, in their most recent “Extra Innings” Podcast, that the Mariners have between $20-25 million to spend on free agents for the upcoming season. Divish explains to Puck why he doesn't think the M's will trade one of their young pitchers and says if they do end up trading a pitcher, the most likely pitcher to be dealt would be Luis Castillo. Divish asked Puck a great question during the show, of the major professional teams in Seattle and they included Husky football, and the Seahawks, Mariners and Kraken. Who is the closest to winning a championship? They both agreed it's probably the Mariners! Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, drops by for his weekly visit to talk Seahawks football with Jason “Puck” Puckett. And, once again they get right into the play off the offensive line and how poor it was against the Rams. Puck asks Rob if it's fair to question whether the Seahawks got it right with Mike Macdonald? It was a topic Puck brought up yesterday with Danny Kelly of The Ringer and Rob wanted to respond. They both agreed that they didn't know, which is ok to admit! They also wondered and discussed that it's not fair to fully evaluate offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb because Grubb is only getting to a fraction of his play sheet because of the issues along the offensive line. They also discussed the trade market for D.K. Metcalf and if it makes sense in the offseason to consider moving on from Metcalf if they determined that they need to be in rebuilding mode. Puck thinks an offseason rebuild needs to be on the table if they continue to lose games, especially the next three. Is it worth spending money on a receiver and a quarterback if you don't have an offensive line to protect them? How much times does John Schneider have? probably more than you think. Lastly, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Puck disagrees with the NBA's decision to suspend Sixers center Joel Embiid for his encounter with a Philadelphia columnist.
On Wednesday's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett was joined by Jim Moore, The Go-2-Guy, who joins PuckSports.com every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from his home in Bend, Oregon. Puck and Jim pick up with a story from Puck that the two were taking off the air about, in regards to Puck's encounter with an angry dog owner on a baseball field. Puck has given him the moniker, “Seattle Entitled”, and he told Jim how the dog owner became upset at Puck when he asked him to leave the field because his dogs kept stealing their baseballs. Puck detailed to the encounter turned “physical” and Puck had a good laugh about it. They also chatted about what Puck brought up yesterday to John Canzano, that most Husky fans don't really like Jedd Fisch, because they can see right through what he's selling. They compared how they felt about Mike Leach when he was coaching the Cougs. World Series drama….Jim and Puck reacted to the two dummies that interfered with Mookie Betts during Game 4 of the World Series and they want the two idiots banned for life from any MLB park. Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, drops by for his weekly visit to talk Seahawks football. They jump right into the disaster of the football game that the loss to the Buffalo Bills. The majority of the show they concentrated their time on the offensive line and why for the last ten years has it been a problem for Seattle? They will not reach their goals as a team until they fix those issues up front. Rob revisits past drafts to highlight the issues with their drafts and looks at free agents that they could have landed instead of other players that they ultimately signed. Both agree that John Schneider is a great GM, but both also agree that he has failed miserably in rebuilding and developing the OL. The Seahawks will have big decisions to make in the offseason with personnel and one of those conversations will be what to do with Geno Smith? They obviously need a QB, but is Smith worth the massive price tag. Also, there will be free agents available like Sam Darnold. Is he worth taking a look at? At the end of the QB discussion, Puck brings up one more name that will be a free agent at the end of the season and that would be Russell Wilson. Would you bring Wilson back next year? Puck puts Rob on the spot to answer that question. Finally, Puck brings up the Russell Wilson topic on “Hey, What the Puck!?” Would you do it?

Rob Staton of SeahawksDraftBlog.comjoins the show after Jim leaves and they dive into the recent trade for Ernest Jones from the Titans. Rob and Puck go back and forth on the deal and the pros and cons of it. Rob is worried that it may prevent Seattle from further addressing their needs along the offensive line. Puck likes the trade because it fixes a major issue with their linebacking core. Good news for the Seahawks as Abe Lucas and George Fant will return to practice this week. We don't know the timeline for the return of Lucas but it's good news that he's back. Rob wonders if Lucas could possibly move inside and play guard when healthy if they keep Fant on the outside or can Fant or Mike Jerrell play inside? They both agree that they need the five best OL on the line at once.

Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, on the poor performance of the Seahawks OL. How culpable is John Schneider? Are the Seahawks even a playoff team at this point? We agree that Geno Smith is a good quarterback , but not good enough to win you a Super Bowl and the team right now has a serious lack of veteran leadership and that's a major red flag for Mike Macdonald. Puck and Rob discuss the evolving landscape of college football and its impact on NFL preparation , particularly for offensive linemen. They analyze the current state of the Seahawks, focusing on team dynamics, leadership issues, and coaching challenges. The discussion also highlights the importance of accountability within the team and reaction to what Tyler Lockett said about the team not being prepared.

Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.com, checks in for his weekly visit to talk all things Seahawks. The frustration with the defense. The injury to Uchenna Nwosu and the lackluster performance from the team against the Giants. Why did the Seahawks come out so flat against New York and Rob explains why that is such a huge problem. Ryan Grubb didn't have his best game, obviously, but it's no time to panic for the offense. Both Puck and Rob feel like the offense will get it going and it will start on Thursday against the 49ers. Speaking of the 49ers, this Thursday's game is most likely a must win for both. Both teams are winless in the conference. Whoever loses is not out of the playoff race, but it will be a major uphill climb. Could help be on the way for the Seahawks defense? Rob wants to kick the tires on former Seahawks player, Jadeveon Clowney. You agree?
On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Jim Moore for the first thirty minutes where Jim rails against Jedd Fisch and him wearing a visor. Puck and Jim also make another bet. On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftblog.com, John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com and Bill Krueger, ROOT Sports. Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.comjoins the show from the start to chat about the Seahawks win over Miami and the play of the defense. Is the defense good or is it a result of the opponents they have faced? Also, you are seeing a trend in the NFL with teams running the football more and it's a trend that will likely continue as the season moves forward. So, as Puck and Rob discuss, old school football is back! With all the compliments being thrown the way of the Seahawks, they still have issues on the offensive line, in particular Anthony Bradford. Puck and Rob can't figure out why they continue to play him and not give Christian Haynes a shot, but Rob does have a theory that he ran by Puck on why Bradford may be staying in there for now. Rob continues to gush over the play of Geno Smith and the offense despite them struggling in the middle of the game. D.K. Metcalf continues to be a force in the passing game and the running game looked much better with Zach Charbonnet this past weekend. Both Rob and Puck agreed that Charbonnet is a much better back than people give him credit for. They wrap up their conversation with thoughts on the rest of the NFC West and NFC and ask who is really better than Seattle right now? Seattle is playing some really good football despite the opponents. John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com, is next up and they touch in on the PAC-12's legal maneuvers, Gonzaga's potential addition to the conference, and how legitimate is John Mateer as a Heisman Trophy candidate? They touch on Wazzu's chances of running the table and creating chaos in the college football playoffs, the impact of media on what teams get the chance to play in the playoffs, and what happens if the Pac-12 can't land UNLV and Air Force. Where do they turn next?Lastly, Bill Krueger, ROOT Sports, joins Puck to talk Mariners baseball. They immediately jump into the performance of Bryce Miller and Bill suggests he's the best pitcher on the Mariners staff. Julio Rodriguez is finishing the season strong and Puck asks Bill what he could do to get off to a better start at the beginning of the season. Bill reminds Puck that the Mariners still have a shot at the playoffs and tells him not to give up hope. They wrap up their chat with Bill reflecting on his time playing for the Oakland A's and how much that city and organization meant to him and how sad he is that they are leaving Oakland and that Major League baseball should be ashamed of themselves.
