We wanna hear from you! Send us a message here :) When country music lovers talk about the greatest groups in the genre, Shenandoah is always at the forefront of any discussion. Fueled by Marty Raybon's distinctive vocals and the band's skilled musicianship, Shenandoah became well known for delivering such hits as “Two Dozen Roses”, “Church on Cumberland Road” and “Next to You, Next to Me” as well as such achingly beautiful classics as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with Alison Krauss. Today that legacy continues as original members Raybon and Mike McGuire reunite to launch a new chapter in Shenandoah's storied career. It all began when the guys got back together to perform a benefit concert for a friend battling cancer. “We saw how folks reacted,” Raybon says of the response to their reunion. “And then Jerry Phillips, son of legendary Sun Records producer Sam Phillips, said ‘You guys need to make a run at this. People still love what you do. You can tell by the reaction. There's a lot of excitement in the air.'”The Oak Ridge Boys have sold over 41 million units worldwide and are synonymouswith “America, apple pie, baseball, and country music.” In addition to their awards and accolades in the country music field, the Oaks have garnered five GRAMMY® Awards, nine GMA DOVE Awards, and two American Music Awards. The group—Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden, and Richard Sterban—was inducted into the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame (2015 Inductees) and the Grand Ole Opry (since 2011)—and is known worldwide as one of recording history's most extraordinary musical successes. He went from a background singer for Elvis to singing center stage with one of the most well-known quartets in music history. Richard Sterban, bass singer for the Oak Ridge Boys, recently celebrated 50 years with the iconic group, and he has published a book about his journey, “From Elvis to Elvira: My Life On Stage.“ Dr. Alan Campbell hears about his early days with Elvis, learns about his love of fine wine and sailing, and enjoys some little-known stories from his time on the road. In this endearing and intimate conversation, Sterban shares the original inspiration behind the hit song “Elvira” — spoiler: it wasn't a woman. And he discusses which well-known singer encouraged the group to stick it out when they were questioning their future in the industry. https://richardsterban.com

The OAK RIDGE BOYS are a country and gospel vocal quartet that originated in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The group was founded in the 1940s as the Oak Ridge Quartet and became popular in Southern gospel during the 50s. Their name was changed to the Oak Ridge Boys in the early 60s, and they remained a gospel group until the mid-1970s, when they changed their image and concentrated on country music. The band produced some incredible country and crossover hits – the biggest of which was 1981's Elvira - which recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. RICHARD STERBAN is best known for his immortal lyric: “oom-pa-pa-oom-pa-pa-mow-mow." He's the guy who gives “Elvira” its deep-voiced juice. Richard began his singing career as a six-year-old soprano in Sunday school. He was a tenor in the in the seventh grade but when he returned the following year for eighth grade, he was a bass! Prior to joining The Oak Ridge Boys in 1972, Richard sang with various groups including singing back up for ELVIS. Faced with the difficult decision to stay with Elvis or join The Oak Ridge Boys, Richard chose The Oaks. His new book, From Elvis to Elvira includes many great stories about Elvis and stories about The Oak Ridge Boys that have never been told. In this episode, Richard Sterban talks to me about Elvis, Elvira, the late President George W Bush and Johnny Cash. I hope you enjoy the chat! Would you like to connect with me? Then, Richard Sterban, longtime member of the Oak Ridge Boys, stops back into the Dom Giordano Program to discuss his life and career and promote an upcoming appearance at Parx Casino at June 11th. First, Richard tells about his time discovering his notable voice, bringing Dom and listeners back to his time spent in middle school when he developed his incredibly deep voice. Cody McCarver's emotion-filled voice displays a life full of heartache and lessons. Yes, when you hear Cody sing, you know he has a story to tell.Raised in the mountains of Dunlap, TN, Cody's first musical influence was in his home church. Even as a young child, Cody loved music and became the church piano player before the age of ten. It's that musical connection to faith that has helped Cody through dark and troubled times, including the imprisonment of his father and his death inside a jail cell.Cody spent over a decade with country music super-group, Confederate Railroad, eventually leaving to start his own solo career. This career was extremely lucrative with numerous accolades - including three number one videos' on CMT Pure Country and earning the title of Independent Artist of the Year from Music Row Magazine.Throughout his career, Cody has shared the stage with legends such as Charlie Daniels, David Allan Coe, Merle Haggard and more. His solo career saw his music topping the charts and even being featured in several motion pictures, which led to McCarver acting in several western films. His solo music has featured guest appearances by Colt Ford and The Oak Ridge Boys' Richard Sterban. The bright lights of fame and fortune brought many enjoyable things but it also exposed Cody to a very dark side. “Here I was with everything I could imagine,” states Cody, “but something was missing and I was miserable. So, I started filling that void with Jack Daniels, who became my best friend, every single day.” Cody's life began to spiral out of control. “I was headed for death,” says Cody. “I knew something had to change…so I went to church.” Cody searched and found joy in his renewed relationship with God. Cody says: “God let me know that He never left me and He was with me the entire time.”Today, Cody shares his story anywhere and everywhere he can – and there's no signs of slowing down. In fact, Cody's just getting started!Cody has released 2 country CDs and 3 Christians CDs since leaving the band Confederate Railroad. The Lords Will, I'm Forgiven and his latest CD Rise Up have established him and his message in the Christian music world. In 2018 God gave him a #1 single with Rise Up. The top 100 Christian country charts have Rise Up at #18 for 2018 and his single Run & Hide which was featured in a motion picture at #57 for 2018. What does 2019 hold for Cody McCarver? A brand new CD titled "Blessings" will be released. The CD is produced by Lew Card who also is a co-writer with Cody On several tracks. Cody called on his friend John Schneider to sing a duet titled "These hands" and John Anderson to help sing the old hymn "The Old Rugged Cross". Sounds like the title for the new CD "Blessings" is the perfect title.Today, Cody shares his story anywhere and everywhere he can – and there's no signs of slowing down. In fact, Cody's just getting started! 2019 will bring a prison tour with actor singer John Schneider.

Preorder Down Home Christmas here - https://www.oakridgeboys.com/ Richard began his singing career as a six-year-old soprano in Sunday school in his native Camden, New Jersey. He was a tenor in the glee club in seventh grade, but when he returned in the fall for eighth grade, he was a bass! Prior to joining The Oak Ridge Boys in 1972, Richard sang with various groups, eventually joining J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, which afforded him the opportunity of a lifetime—the chance to sing with Elvis, the King of Rock and Roll, singing with him every night on stage, recording with him, and appearing in one of his movies (Elvis on Tour). It was during this time in the midst of Elvis’ heyday that Richard was offered the position as bass singer for The Oak Ridge Boys, and he had to make a major decision—remain on the big stage or chase his own dream. This period of Richard’s life is covered in detail in his new book, From Elvis to Elvira, co-written with Steven Robinson. The book includes many great Elvis stories and stories about The Oak Ridge Boys that have never been told.
