Your brain is a beautiful tool and left to it's own devices will likely offer up justifications to over indulge at the expense of feeling how you want to feel in your body. If you've ever overeaten because you had a long day, it wasn't because you lacked willpower, it was only because your brain needed relief and offered up the thought to eat. We need to understand this and instead of blaming ourselves, develop self awareness and practice superthinking - being intentional with thoughts that serve you. In this episode you'll learn:Why it's negative thinking is the normA simple 3 step superthinking practice My go-to “super” or “nourishing” thoughts The full transcript Instagram: @mindful_shape Free Self Coaching Resources Interested in getting coached by me? "The Big Book of Mental Models"
Too many of us get caught up in the doing of our business instead of thinking about our business. So for this 376th episode of The Copywriter Club Podcast, we are flashing back to another one of our best interviews... this one from business strategist Jereshia Hawk who went deep on selling to high ticket clients as well as what it takes to truly grow your business. She calls it super thinking. We call it CEO time. Whatever you call it, you definitely want to hear what Jereshia has to say about it. Click the play button below, or scroll down for a full transcript. Things we mentioned to check out: The Road Less Stupid by Keith Cunningham The Copywriter Club Facebook Group The Copywriter Underground Transcript: Rob Marsh: Welcome to the New Year. Whether you're back at your desk today or still taking a few days to ramp back up for 2024, this interview is just what you need… or at least, it is just what I needed to hear to kick off the new year. It is the perfect compliment to last week's throwback episode with Seth Godin. Because Jereshia is another expert that I love to learn from. When we interviewed her a little over three years ago, she shared a ton of great information about selling to clients with money… what is often referred to as high-ticket sales. And that's what we focused the title and promotion of that interview on. But we also covered the idea of super-thinking. That is the idea that we need to be creating space for coming up with new ideas and insights and not just reacting to what's going on. And quite honestly, a lot of us spent the past year reacting to economic issues, artificial intelligence and a lot of other stuff that impacted the way we work. So I think you're going to like the throwback interview with business coach Jereshia Hawk. Before we get to that, if you want this year to be better than last year, better clients, better projects, and better opportunities, you absolutely need to visit thecopywriterunderground.com and check out the resources waiting for you there. That's thecopywriterunderground.com. Now let's get to our interview with Jereshia… Kira Hug: All right, Jereshia, welcome. We want to kick this off with your story. How did you end up as a high ticket sales coach? Jereshia Hawk: Well, I kind of stumbled my way here. I was an engineer by trade before even knowing this whole online world existed. And I started doing some of my videos, started getting into coaching, just people asking me to give advice or insight on how I was able to navigate my corporate career and how I was able to position myself for upward mobility opportunities in a nontraditional way or in a way that just wasn't the same beat and path of how you're supposed to excel in corporate. And one thing I started recognizing during my coaching calls at the very, very beginning, when I was charging $60 for a month of coaching, less than what you would pay for a fitness class, and the biggest thing that I noticed was the transferrable skills that I had acquired in corporate America. I was a lead engineer of a $400 million pipeline project, I was responsible for managing our money on a day-to-day basis, making decisions based off of input and output, and so I understood how money moved from a corporates perspective, but then I also understood kind of a gap that I noticed in the industry, or that I noticed just from people that I was discussing on, how do you effectively articulate your value in a way that whoever is in the other position, the buying decision or the position of authority to make a decision, how do you articulate your value in a way where they get it and that it also correlates to how it impacts the bottom line or impacts the thing that's most important to them, and how do you position yourself to be able to do that repeatedly. And once I started to recognize that those three things were really my sweet spot and as I started growing in the coaching business,

I use this tool constantly and consistently in my business. When something isn't working for me, when I'm not able to move forward on something, I know that I'm just one step away from making progress. And it comes down to the tool we're talking about in this episode. This absolutely works if you let it, let's talk about "Super-thinking". In fact, you've probably done it before and didn't even realize it. I'm going to show you how to set yourself up for it and create these results any time you want.
You're smarter than you know. I hope this isn't the first time you're hearing this. But just in case it is, you're in good hands. She's a coach/creator/connector and all around beautiful human being. You will be able to see her light shining through from the moment we begin chatting. I'm talking about Emily Bossert, my guest this week on The Peace and Possibilities Podcast. (Incidentally, I'm just realizing how many lit up people I get to talk to every week! How cool is that?) Hopefully you're noticing a theme: you do what you love, and you light up. And others can see it, and you attract more of the same. Instead of taking my word for it, check out my conversation with Emily. She reflects on many important concepts: Take ownership Trust your intuition and knowledge Community is huge Stop comparing yourself and get quiet You inner truth is waiting to be asked Simplify everything - your mind, your space, etc. And check in with your 75 year old future self; what would this wise person have to say to you now? Finally, I've mentioned this a few times lately. Try the Super Thinking exercise. Allow yourself 60 uninterrupted minutes and ask and answer all the questions you have about your work and life. You'll be shocked at how much you already know (when you're used to asking questions to everyone else). Ask yourself and discover the answers within. Email me and tell me what you think. Professor Mahoney's book is impressive, important, interesting, and short. It is a critique of the dominant “religion” of our time, the religion of humanity—also known as humanitarianism. Humanitarianism is antithetical to the Judeo Christian and Classical traditions; it devolves morality into relativism; it eschews objective Good and Evil; it waters down (I like to think of it as Rod McKeun-ing) rigorous moral and ethical issues to wooly-headed notions such as there is no justification for self-defense or just wars; and it increasingly embraces politically correct canards such as social justice or climate change alarm. Ultimately, in its most pernicious form, it intellectually underpinned the horrors of Communism and Nazi Socialism, among others, in the past century.Lastly, and perhaps most alarmingly, it can be found prominently in the public utterances of the current Pope, a man raised in the Argentina of liberation theology. Just like Lewis Hamilton and Kim Kardashian, all of us have a brain, and 24 hours in a day at our disposal. How we use those two resources, when we're free and healthy, is up to us. Like many of you who spend part of the day sitting and working in front of your computer screen, I, too, without thinking too much about it, use my brain – an exceptional tool that we use to operate in society and earn our living. Are you taking care of your brain? Strange concept, right? Yet people are talking about mental health like never before. What do you do to cool it down at the end of the day? Or what do you do to get even more out of it? Personally, I've added a time for reflection into my morning routine, while everyone in the house is sleeping. It's often during this quiet period that ideas come to me. They're the ideas I'll use to serve my clients better and, ultimately, run the agency, so that all my employees can also benefit. For some people, these periods when you stop to think are “SUPER THINKING” moments. For me, they're the moments when I hear myself think, where I let everything come to the surface, including fears, joy and frustrations. I'm letting out the feelings that dwell in me and the thoughts that trigger them. Joy is one of my favourite emotions lately. I can draw on it to work incredibly efficiently, writing up service proposals that contain excellent ideas to make our clients shine. It's also during these moments when I'm “hearing myself think” that I hit upon our clients' unique features – the ones that will be of interest to influencers and journalists. I have to admit, I also have guilty pleasures for cooling down this wonderful personal computer in my head: NETFLIX is often my solution for “getting my mind off things”. I know, it's not a very exotic method, and it doesn't keep my mind from spinning. Still, for me, watching movies, TV shows, or documentaries lets me disconnect from my everyday flood of thoughts. It's really a mini brainwash. How many thoughts do you have in a day? Research data online ranges from 6,000 to 60,000*. It doesn't much matter where the real number lies. We all know our thoughts are plentiful, and that many of them swirl around until we're exhausted. Yes, meditation helps still the hamster wheel that's constantly spinning inside our head. But there's nothing like practice (repetitive exercises) to see what's going on in our head and pinpoint what we're thinking. A few years ago, I also discovered professional coaching techniques to help me see things clearly. I carefully studied a super-simple technique with incomparable power, and it's one I use in all our training courses. There's nothing like thinking as a pair to see more clearly and move forward more quickly. And that's precisely the approach I offer you in every course. Putting two – or many – heads together gets me a lot further, a lot faster. Find out about our next training here : www.natapr.com *SCIENCE & VIE https://www.science-et-vie.com/cerveau-et-intelligence/nous-aurions-6200-pensees-par-jour-en-moyenne-57905
How a fact-free media, along with wildly inaccurate forcasting models, "expert" who serially contradicted themselves (Fauci: we are looking at you!), and the lowest form of human expression (social media) ruined 2020 (and beyond?). Today's guest grew up in a small village just outside of Cambridge, UK, called Hemingford Abbots. He went to Oxford University, where he read Modern History and Politics, and immigrated to the US in 2011. He is the Editor of NationalReview.com and a writer for NR as well as a regular columnist for First Freedom, the magazine of the NRA. Charles has become –in my view—a first rate constitutional scholar, especially as it relates to the 2nd Amendment, and writes about some other passions with regularity, such as American and British history and intellectual history, free speech, American exceptionalism, amusement parks, and the joys of living in the 2nd greatest state in the Union, after TX, of course—Florida. He and his friend, Kevin D. Williamson, have a fabulous podcast called Mad Dogs and Englishmen and Charles is also a regular on NR's The Editors. I love to read Charles not only because he is a fine writer but because of the careful precision of his thinking, which you will hear on his podcasts and here today. To live my best version, I have tapped into blinkist.com. Today's guest is one of the leading and finest contemporary current events and culture writers in the US. He is from the Great State of TX, worked for newspapers in India and around the US, has been a longtime columnist for National Review, and has written a handful of books—most notably, The Smallest Minority: Independent Thinking in the Age of Mob Politics, and most-recently published in October, Big White Ghetto: Dead Broke, Stone-Cold Stupid, and High on Rage in the Dark Woolly Wilds of the “Real America”. He not only writes broadly on politics, culture, and history, he is a sometime book and theater critic. Last on the writing front, Kevin writes a fabulous newsletter on Tuesdays for NRO about politics, culture, and language, called, well: The Tuesday. Today's guest is arguably the finest living historian of the American Experience. He has written 30 books or so—all exceedingly well written, crisp, and engaging. Some of those books include: outstanding bios of Ben Franklin, US Grant, Ronald Reagan, FDR and TR, a great book about the California Gold Rush (The Age of Gold), as well as other period books about significant eras of US history (like the Cold War). Most great historians tend to specialize in a single period or topical domain. Prof Brands specializes in everything in American history, it seems. He is the Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in History at the U of Texas. Hook ‘em.His latest book is a compelling case study, if you will, on two men's reaction to the problem of slavery as America stumbled toward the Civil War. It asks the question, one central to many historical moments—not just slavery: “How does a good man challenge a great evil?” The men, John Brown and Abraham Lincoln. “Can you recommend a book for…?” “What are you reading right now?” “What are your favorite books?” I get asked those types of questions a lot and, as an avid reader and all-around bibliophile, I’m always happy to oblige. I also like to encourage people to read as much as possible because knowledge benefits you much like compound interest. The more you learn, the more you know; the more you know, the more you can do; the more you can do, the more opportunities you have to succeed. On the flip side, I also believe there’s little hope for people who aren’t perpetual learners. Life is overwhelmingly complex and chaotic, and it slowly suffocates and devours the lazy and ignorant. So, if you’re a bookworm on the lookout for good reads, or if you’d like to get into the habit of reading, this book club for you. The idea here is simple: Every month, I’ll share a book that I’ve particularly liked, why I liked it, and several of my key takeaways from it. I’ll also keep things short and sweet so you can quickly decide whether the book is likely to be up your alley or not. Alright, let’s get to the takeaways. --- Mentioned on The Show: Books by Mike Matthews: https://legionathletics.com/products/books/ --- Want free workout and meal plans?
